Access to Generation 1 members

Hi experts,
Is there any way to give access to generation 1 members of dimension including security (account, entity, customs) ?
Indeed, when I click on these members, "Assign access" button is off, but it is on when I click on generation 2 (and more) members.
I know that this behavior is old (since the 3.3 at least), but it is clearly not logical for these reasons :
- Generation 1 members can be aggregated and then interesting in reporting => if the dimension is secured, only admin can read it.
- In a webform built with personnal variables and ability to change it in the form, if a user click of the variable and doesn't choose one member, gen1 member is selected, and, as user can't access this member, webform cannot be opened. Users needs to go in "File / preferences/Planning" to select a "good" member (ie a member that he can access to).
- Same way in Financial Reporting with Planning Access with error messages when user select POV with gen1 members.
So, before creating a SR on the support, I require your experiences about this case.
Thanks by advance.
Julien

Hi,
It's not too illogical not to define security on the top level of dimension. If your problem is about user variables, I would recommend assigning a default value to the variables and doing this as part of new user creation.
Cheers,

  • Inner Classes Changing Access Rights Of Parent  Members

    I read that if you access a parent class's private memebers or methods from within an inner class, those members of methods will automatically and silently be converted to having package access. This seems dangerous and I'd like to know how I could design around it.
    Here is my current dilemma. I have an EventHandler class whose handleEvent() method changes with the object's state. I've implemented this using the Strategy Pattern, where the Strategy objects are inner classes of EventHandler. The problem is that these Strategy objects need access to certain private members and methods of their parent. There is no reason, however, to give package access to these members and methods. What can I do? Or does this suggest that I need a design change? Other than this issue, though, I'm quite happy with the design.
    Thanks for any thoughts,
    John

    When inner classes access private fields or methods, the compiler generates new package-private methods
    with names like "access$000":
    import java.lang.reflect.*;
    public class X {
        private void x() {}
        class Y {
            public void y() {
                x();
        public static void main(String[] args) {
            Method[] methods = X.class.getDeclaredMethods();
            for(int i=0; i<methods.length; ++i)
                System.out.println(methods.getName());
    So it's not correct that the access to fields or methods is changed, just that additional methods are added.
    Unless you're in the habit of writing method names that contain '$', I think it's unlikely that you'll directly call
    these new methods, and if you do, it should be easy to spot!

    I think you are using the wrong terminology. You can browse the hidden share of any pc if you know the ip and have a valid user account on the pc by typing in the following \\computername\c$ or \\ipaddress\c$ . It should prompt you for a user account. You may have to allow this through the windows firewall (or disable it completely).

  • User has no write access to the selected members of dimension : CATEGORY

    Hello,
    Here is the Scenario:
    I have a script called DAllocate.lgf in an app - Costing. Now I need to run that app from another app called Reporting. I know that Runlogic wont work in my case because in the Dallocate.lgf there are some Runlogic commands being used. and when Runlogic is being used to call a logic that has runlogics in it, it wont work. So what I hae done is in the SSIS package in the reporting app, I have added a logic task to an existing package and specified DAllocate.lgf with the app name costing.
    Here is the issue:
    When I run an SSIS package in costing app called Dallocate(which basically runs dallocate.lgf), it runs successfully. But If I run a package called PtoCA in Reporting that has Dallocate.lgf as a logic task, it gives the following error:
    "user has no write access to the selected members of dimension : CATEGORY "
    Thanks.

    Hi,
    From your explanation it is clear that Dallocate.LGF has been run successfully in one of the logics. This means the issue is not in the Dallocate.LGF. The issue is in some other logic of the same DM package.
    First, check which logic part faces this issue. Based on your explanation, definitely not in Dallocate.LGF.
    Then, check how that particular Catergory dimension member which the user does not have access for, came into the logic calculation. Somewhere in the calculation, it is posting a value in the unauthorized member.

  • Is it possible to resrict access to pages to members/password-holders?

    Is it possible to resrict access to pages to members/password-holders?  How do I set up a membership application form/password entry form to my site?

    You can browse the Firefox source code online via the MXR and DXR websites than easily allows to search for data and possibly backtrack code changes to bugs via the annotations.
    The Password Manager has this chrome URL in Firefox;
    chrome://passwordmgr/content/passwordManager.xul
    A search for this file on MXR for the release branch:
    *http://mxr.mozilla.org/mozilla-release/source/toolkit/components/passwordmgr/content/passwordManager.xul
    The latest code is on mozilla-central
    You need an archive manager that can handle tar.bz2 archive files to access the source code locally.<br />
    You can look at 7-zip if you do not have one.

  • IWeb and Club web site...access restricted to club members

    I have just volunteered to 'think about' doing our local harley owners group website since the last webmaster has jacked it in.
    The old site has gone and I will have to start from fresh. It will be hosted on a commercial local server with server space and domain name already registered.
    I have seen reference to password protected areas of websites created using iWeb, and although possible it does not seem that iWeb is actually designed for the job. Also the threads i have seen do not seem to be referring to multiple usernames and pwds, stored in a database, but rather a single username/pwd
    What the proposed new site needs is a public area, plus a private area with each member having access using there own Username and password. The Private area would need a Classified 'For sale ' area with members being to add and upload their own ads.
    is this sort of thing possible from within iWeb or is it way outside its capabilities?
    I thought it best to ask now...before I build the basic public site, and make a start on the private section...only to then find it is not possible
    Thanks
    Neil

    Something exactly like that....fancy an unpaid job?
    Guess I'll have to get to grips with the thing (iWeb) and see what I can do.
    Before I ask any more questions, I'll have to have a play with it before asking such things as ....how did you do......
    I made this one up using it a week or so ago...

    I never really did learn this 'black art' of html design. and have been trying to avoid doing so.

  • Level/Generation of members with only one child

    Hello!I have a little problem with generations and levels in an outline like this: Dimension Member1 Member1a Member1b Member2 Member2a Member3 Member3a Member3b"Member2" has only the child "Member2a". All other members in generation 2 have more than one member. The function @CURGEN(Dimension) shows for all these members the value 2, but for the member "Member2" it shows generation 3 and level 0. In my opinion "Member2" is generation 2 and level 1.Who is wrong? Essbase? Thanks for your support!Andreas

    This is the classic 'implied share' gotcha. When a member has only one child, Essbase by default sets up the child as a shared member to the parent. I believe this was an attempt to save space etc. but it causes problems in @ functions and partitions (and maybe elsewhere!). You need to tag the parent (level 1) member as 'never share'. This should solve it.

  • Accessing my own class members from the JSP file

    Hi,
    I have created a class by name simple.java.and the package structure is like sridhar.source.useful.In this package i placed my file simple.java.
    Now i import this file with the import statement in JSP like
    <%@ import = "sridhar.source.useful.*" %>
    Now from the JSP file i want to execute some of the methods in simple.java.
    I tried this one by importing the simple.java in my JSP file,but i am getting some errors:
    variables that i have declared in Java files are not defined.
    The JSP is not importing the class simple.java
    I am executing my JSP in weblogic6.1(webserver is IPlanet)
    shall i need to set any classpath for this in the weblogic shell script??
    pls clarify me if any configuration is to be made or not??
    regards
    Naidu

    For JSP with IPlanet/weblogic and imported custom classes:
    Put your class / package in the correct folder. $path is any path you want....
    Ex: package foo, class foorbar must be
    $path/foo/foobar.class
    All classes must be .class, not .jar.
    Weblogic/IPlanet must be configured to have the CLASSPATH
    $path/
    (do not include foo/foobar!)
    The JSP has
    <%@ import "foo.*" %>
    Your class may now be used just like the other imported classes. Say you have an object Foobar with a constructor, you can just say
    Foobar myFoo = new Foobar();
    I do this with my classes, so if you have any questions, just ask.

  • Account Team Members and access to Open and Closed Activities

    Is there not a way to allow account team members access to view other members on the teams activities?

    If you are the owner of the pertinent Account, then for the other users on the Account Team, the Default Access Profile would be applicable, which you should change.
    For the Account record type, the access level can be kept as anything (read only, read/edit or read/edit/delete). In the related information for the Account record type, have the access levels of Completed and Open Activities as View.
    So, if you add the account team members in the Users section in the Account activities, the activities (appointments/task) would appear in each of the user’s calendars and tasks section.

  • Project Lite License for Team Members not giving access to the PWA

     Hi there - So here is my issue I am having with Project Online 2013. I am new to project server ( I mean project online) & really having fun with it but MSFT can make it a bit easier to the Users.
    So we brought the following 2 licenses
    1) Project Lite for Team Members ( Brought this license after getting answer from previous question posted by me at  Previous
    thread )
    2) Project Online with Project Pro for Office 365.
    So I am able to access the PWA for my Portfolio Managers, Project Managers etc., Now I tried giving access to the Team Members and as directed by MSFT I added them to the group "Team Members for Project Web App ".
    I created some tasks in project schedule and assigned the tasks to the Team Members and published them.
    Now when My Team Members try too access the PWA Site , they are not able to access it.
     1 ) When trying to access the   ( http://tenant.sharepoint.com/PWA/Default.aspx)   which is the home page  I am seeing a webpart error with correlation ID.
     2) When trying to access the  Task through (http://tenant.sharepoint.com/PWA/Tasks.aspx ) where you see the tasks, the page gives me " Sorry you don't have access to this page"
    So now my question is how do I give access to my Team Members so that they can work on the tasks assigned to them in the PWA.
    Any help is highly appreciated.

    SP2013Dev,
    You need to Share the PWA with the team members to give them access. Please refer to my blog here. Hope this helps.

  • Assigning access for combinations of dimension members

    Security Dilemma Example
         Two Dimensions: Site and Department
              Site Members     Department Members
              Site A     Dept 1
              Site B     Dept 2
              Site C     Dept 3
         Question: Is it possible in BPC version 4.2 SP4 to set up the following access for an user?
         User A needs access to Site A and all departs only for Site A
         User A needs access to Site B and only Dept 2 for Site B
         User A needs access to Site C and only Dept 1 and 3 for Site C
         My understanding is that if a user is given access to all departments, then he would be able to pull those depts for ALL sites he has access to. How can I assign access for combinations of members from different dimensions?

    Hi,
    Just to understand what you specified,
    Site Members Department Members
    Site A Dept 1
    Site B Dept 2
    Site C Dept 3
    These 3 Dept's are there in all the 3 Sites. Is my understanding correct?
    If that is the case, better would be to maintain 9 IDs for Dept dimension
    Dept1_SiteA, Dept2_SiteA, Dept3_SiteA,
    Dept1_SiteB............................................
    ...........................................Dept3_SiteC
    That means you have 9 Dept members. Now it becomes very simple to assign access.
    I dont think there is any way to assign security to combination of dimensions.
    Hope this helps.

  • Why is jar packaging needed to access package visibility members?

    javax.swing.text.html.HTMLDocument has (default) package access level members (eg base).
    Simply creating a class in the javax.swing.text.html package does not give me access to the package members of HTMLDocument.
    However, if I jar my class with the rt.jar, then it can access the package members of HTMLDocument.
    Why is this?
    And more importantly, is there another way around this?.. Can I jar my classes in a separate jar file?
    -Kane

    more info on this problem:
    It seems that a different classloader is used for the classes in the jdk than standard user classes. Classes in the jdk are loaded by the bootstrap class loader. So user classes that "pretend" to be part of that package are not recognized unless they are actually a part of the rt.jar file.
    hack solution: use the SystemClassLoader to load those user classes.
    ClassLoader loader = ClassLoader.getSystemClassLoader();
    loader.loadClass("myWannaBeSystemClass");
    Still looking for more elegant solution...
    but hopefully this will hold me over
