Accessing built in functions through javascript

Hi everyone,
Is there a way to call one of the built-in functions using javascript? For example, I added a click_box, and the on-success events I can choose to continue, go to a different slide, open a file/url etc. I can also choose to execute a javascript.
My question is, can I choose to execute a javascript, and then within that javascript, call the "open a file/url" and pass it a variable (url)?
The reason I want to do this is when a user clicks on a link to open a URL, I want the movie to pause until they return and click on the next button to proceed.
Unless of course there is a much easier way to accomplish this.
Thanks,
Manny

Hello again
With JavaScript option you generally create your own functions. And really, IMNSHO that's what the purpose of the JavaScript option is really for. Perhaps you want to open a link in a specifically sized and placed window with specific attributes such as no Toolbar, no Status bar or Menu bar. In this case you would create a function to do this, then call the function from JavaScript.
Then again, JavaScript is a whole other wiggly nest of wiener dogs! My simpleton opinion is to do as much as you possibly can in Captivate without resorting to Flash or JavaScript or any other "layer". Because when things go wrong (and trust me, they ALWAYS do) there is less to confuse issues.
Cheers... Rick

  • Streamwork Built-in Functions

    Hello all,
I've looked through the Streamwork built-in functions for Javascript (https://streamwork.com/api/methods/StreamWork_built_in_functions.html). There are two values which I found conspicuously missing:
    (a) a unique identifier for the particular activity (ie. what appears to show up in the URL as https://streamwork.com/activities/__________)? I believe I can probably pick this out from the URL manually, but it seems like there should be a function available.
    (b) the name of the activity, i.e. "My Important Decision", etc.
Are these available through the API? Right now I'm hacking these values together with some creative string manipulation of document.URL and document.title - perhaps there is a better way?
    Thanks,
    Mike

Sreekanth, there is currently no way of getting the email address of the user and I wouldn't expect this to be changed in future (due to security reasons). Have a look at the [builtin functions|https://streamwork.com/api/methods/StreamWork_built_in_functions.html].

  • Built in Function to Populate an access table from an Oracle Table through VB 6.0

    Dear all,
Is there any built in function in VB 6.0 to populate an access table directly from an oracle table or SQL Server(Assume Both has the same columns & data type).
(Just like the DoCmd command which can be used to populate an excel sheet directly from an access table).
    Please help.
    Regards
    Sibby.

    Sibby,
There is no "built-in" code in VB that I am aware of. However, you could use this code which I wrote for SQL Server. For Oracle, you would have to change to the appropriate table to get all the table names. You can filter by table name to get just your tables like I did below (My_).
'* Now select all the files and add to access.
sSQL = "SELECT name, id FROM sysobjects WHERE xtype = 'U' AND SUBSTRING(name, 1, 3) = 'My_' ORDER BY name"
    Set rstTemp = OpenRdSetView(sSQL:=sSQL, adoConnection:=adoConnection)
    On Error GoTo TableExistError
'* Loop through all my database tables and copy to the Access database.
    With rstTemp
    Do While Not .EOF
'* Copy this to the Access backup database.
    sTableName = .Fields("Name").Value
'* Select all records from the SQL Server table and copy to the local Access database.
    sSQL = "SELECT * INTO " & sTableName & " FROM "
    sSQL = sSQL & "[odbc;dsn=" & sDSN & ";UID=" & sUID & ";pwd=" & spwd & ";]." & sTableName
    adoBackupConnection.Execute sSQL, , adExecuteNoRecords
    '* Go to next table.
    .MoveNext
    Loop

  • List of built-in Functions in SAP system

    Hi,
I am trying to find the complete list of built-in function available in SAP system. I searched in SAP help but could not find a comprehensive list at all. I am wondering if anyone can help me locate the list.
    Thank you in advance,
    Sunny

    Hi Sunny,
in my system are already 77.197 transaction codes defined. OK, some are customer development, but on the other hand we are fare away from having all modules installed.
I'm not sure, if you are looking for all transactions, all function modules, all BAPIs, all interfaces...
...but be sure, no one can EVER go through a whole list.
You have to restrict your search: to a specific topic (e.g. only material master), specific technics (e.g. only IDOCs) - then you can successfully browse through the possibilities.

    Hi,
This problem happened on Windows platforms after upgrading the RDBMS used to access the gateway from 10.2.0.3 to 10.2.0.4 patch 22.
The solution is to install and apply Oracle Database 10.2.0.4 Patch 29 (Windows Bundle Patch 29) or later to the RDBMS that is running the query and connecting to the Gateway.
This is detailed in the following note available on My Oracle Support -

  • Using SSRS Built in Functions in SharePoint

    Hi there,
I currently have a number of reports deployed on a SharePoint site at work. I would like to monitor who actually uses which report and when they ran the report and also how long the report ran for. This is for auditing purposes and getting an idea
of the performance of these reports.
I came across the following built in functions on SSRS; UserID, ReportName, ReportServerUrl and ExecutionTime. Is it possible to use these functions somehow in SSRS & SharePoint whenever someone accesses a particular report and perhaps write this
information to a SharePoint list within our SharePoint site.
If this is possible, how would I go about doing this?
Also, some of our reports run off parameters, is it possible to capture what parameters were used as well?
Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks.

you can get most of these information from executionlog tables available from reportserver database

Use the 'Documentation' selection on the left side of the OTN page.
All of the documentation for Oracle is available.
You can also purchase the documentation CD-ROM from the Oracle Store.
The functions are explained in the SQL reference manual.

  • Reg : Context-switching for built-in functions -

    Hi Experts,
Asking this question just out of curiosity to know the internal concepts.
In a SQL query often we use the in-built Oracle functions like LOWER, UPPER, etc.
In this case, does context-switch happen?
Will I be able to look into the code of these functions after logging into SYS schema as SYSDBA?
FYI - I've Oracle XE 11.2 installed in my home pc (currently in office, so don't have access to it).
    Help much appreciated!
    Thanks,

In a SQL query often we use the in-built Oracle functions like LOWER, UPPER, etc.
In this case, does context-switch happen? No, because many of these functions are compiled at low level (C language) into the SQL and the PL/SQL engines, so each has their own 'copy' (in theory) to execute without having to context switch to the other engine.
Will I be able to look into the code of these functions after logging into SYS schema as SYSDBA?No, they are written in C and compiled into the engines.
In terms of the supplied packages (rather than built in functions), many of those are wrapped by oracle so you can only see the public interface, not the actual body code.

  • How to call java function in javascript

    Hello Everyone,
Can anyone tell me solution that:
How to call java function in javascript?
    Thanks,
    VIDs

You can't since Java is running on the server and javascript is running in the browser long after the Java side of things has finished executing. Assuming you're not talking about an applet here.
But you can make calls back to the server through Ajax. All you need is something like a servlet on the receiving end which you can invoke through Ajax; from that point you can execute any Java code you want.

  • Disable browser functionality through Portal

Hello, I was curious to know if it is possible to disable Browser functionality (such as toolbars, navigation buttons, address bar) through a Portal setting? I know this is possible to do through Javascript's window.open() function; however I'd like to remove the functionality on the initial client call without having to pop another window to do so.
    Any suggestions?

At this time it does not appear that this is possible to do. The best solution I can find is stated below. If a better solution can be found, please feel free to post it to the community!

A browser makes a request to a url. That url points to an html file with javascript. The javascript opens a new browser window, disables the browser functionality and has it load the actual portal.
    <!-- redirect.html -->

  • Built-in functions

    Hi,
I am new in scripting Illustrator.
I am trying to create a clipping mask with javascript. If I understood correctly, I have to take every single object to put it in a group at higher level.
I wonder if there is a way to use directly the built-in function, the function used when one click the 'clipping mask' item of the 'object' menu?
I saw I can use the built-in function in an action-script, is there a way to call action-script from javascript?
    Regards,
    Eric

Sadly, no. Illustrator has no eventListener like InDesign or Photoshop.
