Accessing files within the Network

I have problem with file sharing. Within the network I have a PC with windows Vista. It has file sharing on. But it is not showing any files in my MAC. Can anyone tell me how to change the settings in my MAC to access files from my PC within the network.

Just to give to some background info. The java class is called from a package that is owned by the same schema. The schema owner is part of the dba_role and connect_role.
The network drive on the windows 2000 serveris mapped by the domain administrator account.
We have given permissions to the schema owner to access the mapped drive thru java.
What the java script does is fill a string array with the name of each file in the directory. The script and error messages are below.
I have a feeling that the schema account does not have windows 2000 permissions to access network resources, but it is just a hunch.

"Access is Denied" when accessing files in the network

Hello developers ,
My JSP application is reading files that reside elsewhere in our LAN (using the "\\\\<some-server>\\<some-shared-folder>\\<some-file>" notation). On my personal Tomcat it works just fine, however the IT deprtment has allocated me a server with a Tomcat installation on it. On this server I get this nasty "Access is Denied" error (with the full pth to the file I'm trying to access from my application). I'm not an administrator on this sevrer (Windows 2000) and only access to the file shre on which I deployed my JSP files.
I tried to search here and came up with this similar problem, but there is no solution :-(
Any advice is welcomed.

Thanks for your reply. The thing is that "that server" DOES have access to the file when we logon as an administrator on "that server" and browse to that file using Windows Explorer.
The problem is that once that administrator logs off and the JSP application tries to access the remote file (programmatically, of course), it cannot since "Tomcat" isn't a domain user. It doesn't have priviliges in the domain.
So programmatically we cannot access the file yet as a logged on Windows administrator we can.
Does Tomcat have virtual site or directory like IIS? Doing this we can specify the user and password.
Any clue might help :-)

How to access a file in the network shared drive

I have a pdf file in a netwoek share drive which opeates on windows platform. I want to access this file. the path to the file looks something like this
acddfd\sap\sapdir\myfile.pdf
I have tried gui_upload , gui_download , ws_upload and ws_download FM. But I am getting file_read error. Is therey any settings i need to made.
I can access the above path from windows menu start->run.

GUI_UPLOAD / DOWNLOAD is the way to go. If you can access the directory/file that doesn't mean necessarily that the R/3 system can 'see' it as well. Your local frontend is connected to that share, but I would check with your basis that the application servers where R/3 is running do have access to that share as well.
Also does the R/3 user you are using have the same access right to the network as your Windows Network user?
We had a similar problem and eventually it was just an authorization issue with the R/3 user.

How can I locate a file which is placed Network Path?
Iam trying to access PDF file which is stored in Network Drive, I just want to open folder which contains all PDF files located in some Network Path on click of button.

Hi Rao,
this is less a MII than a browser or mapping problem.
You can access a local file in a browser like this:
window.open('file:///c:/folder/file.txt');
However, in case of MII local means local to the MII server. So in the above example the file is located on the c driver of the MII server.
If you want to access files on a network drive, the folders to the files should be mapped on the MII server so you are able to address them like they were local files.
I haven't tried to address network folders directly, because we are running MII on Unix.

Corporate Win7/Office 2010 | Severe Lag when opening Office 2010 files over the network

Good Evening Everyone,
I work in a corporate environment for one of the top banks in the country (USA). We recently upgraded our computers to Windows 7. (The image has office 2010 included in the build)
I've been experiencing some severe lag when opening Office files over the network. Let me start by saying I've researched a lot and have yet to find a solution that works or even makes much of an improvement.
Notes: My laptop is new (64-bit Win 7 Enterprise). The remote desktop where the files lie is new as well. (64-bit Win 7 Enterprise) Both computers have good hardware and more than enough juice to handle applications.
There are certain files I work on along with other co-workers that we store on a computer within the office. We simply create shortcuts to the files on our local machines and make changes, etc. from there. However, after this upgrade, every time I try to
open a file on the remote computer, it takes over a 1 minute to load. I've spoken to our support team who sent someone out and confirmed it's not the network.
Both computers are on the same subnet as well. I've changed the trust center settings on both the client computers and "server" to trust any computer on the network. I have also changed the network card's speed from "Auto Negotiate" to
full duplex 100mbps with no luck.
I am out of options here and in desperate need for a fix. Even saving changes to a file we work on takes forever. 50% of the time when I close a spreadsheet, the title bar has a not responding message and takes a minute to eventually close.
PS: Extra Info : All computers run McAfee AV and use McAfee for disk encryption. I've confirmed all computers are up-to-date in every respect with the AV software.

Select the File Types tab.
Select the extension (for example DOC, or XLS) of the file that is slow to open.
In the Details section, click [Advanced], and another dialog box will open.
In the Actions section, click Open then click [Edit...], and another dialog box will open.

How to configure Mail software to store all related files on the network

I know that Mail software stores all files in Library/Mail under my home directory. Since I have a MacBook Air (with lesser disk space than other Macs), I'm trying to see if I can get the Mail software to read/write files to a network folder instead of Library/Mail. I have done the same with iPhoto in that it looks at the library file from the network and not the local disk. Any ideas of this can be done for the Mail software? Or if this is advisable?

you can do it but I'm not sure if it's advisable. You'd have to test and see how well it works. also, the network drive has to be mounted at all times when you are using Mail, otherwise Mail will crash.
quit Mail. Mount the remote volume. copy the directory homedirectory/Library/Mail to the remote volume and trash the original.
then open terminal and do the following.
type
ln -s
do not press enter yet. press space and drag the copied directory from the remote volume to the terminal window. press space again and type
~/Library
the result should look something like this
ln -s /Volumes/remote-drivename/Mail ~/Library
Press enter in terminal. This will create a symbolic link (it will look like an alias in Finder) to the new location of the Mail folder. Now when you start Mail it should behave normally. In case of problems, quit Mail, delete the symbolic link and move the folder back.

If you put a ControllerListener on the Processor that's associated with generating the RTP stream, it'll generate an "EndOfMedia" event when the end of the file is reached.

After doing so, use the Save As command to save the file under a new name.
This should optimize it and reduce the file's size, sometimes dramatically.

Backing up/moving files to the network?

I had been using my laptop for all itunes purchases, but I've been getting addicted to the Itunes TV show section, which is dangerous when you've only got 160 gigs of space in the form of 2 80 gig drives. It just doesn't feel right to delete stuff that I've actually paid for to make room for new shows, so I really need to try something new.
There's entirely too much data for me to back up to CDs or DVDs. I've got - drumroll please - over 120 gigs of pure itunes music and video. 50 gigs on one drive, 70 gigs on he other.
To get to the point, I'm on a network, and I want to move or backup everything to the server. I tried something like that before and ended up with a completely invalidated library in which none of the files would play (I had to get a support representtive to resupply my purchases to get them back). I couldn't find any information about transferring files over the network, and I'm scared to just do a simple "copy and paste" because I might end up with the same situation I had before.
Can anyone help?

Acrobat 10 is already installed in my PC. Every time I try to read a PDF file on the web, FF tries to download it instead.

As recommended above by Bernd Alheit, I posted this on the Adobe Reader forum. There, I received the advice to repair the installation under the help menu, which I did and it fixed the problem.
Similar to your solution but found it's a fix found under "HELP" menu and not Add/Remove.

I guess we shall see. I can't imagine we are the only 7 with these issues. Mine is mainly just lag... and overall slowness. I hope to work through this. If it lasts much longer I will have to revert back all 3 of my lappies to FC which I really do not want to do. But on the lappies i connect via wireless 90% of the time and need it to work.
By the way how are you guys configuring your wifi? I am using the iwl drivers and wicd.
Well I did some more testing and loaded up netcfg and still get the same results so that rules out that part. I also did some packet captures and I am getting a bunch of tcp retransmissions followed by tcp segment lost followed by a reset which in turn kills my rdp session (remote desktop protocol). I also went back several versions of the uucode driver and still get the same reults so I guess it seems to be a kernel issue. Back to FC I go. Damn shame...
