Accessing the current SIM card number

Hi,
I am trying the get the current sim card number using NSUserDefault with the following codeline :
NSString *num = [[NSUserDefaults standardUserDefaults] stringForKey:@"SBFormattedPhoneNumber"];
Now, I need to know if their exist a better way to get the current phone number (SIM number) programatically? Is it allowed to access personal users information considering apple's privacy policy for the end user? I need to authenticate sim card before my app works and for this I need to check at the startup if the number being usedcurrently is already authenticated or not.
Thanks,
Obaid

Is Apple accept following:
1.  I put the result string in a text box .
2.  if the user click a send button and then  a dialog appears that warn it will be send to database
3.  if user still accept , it will be send as a record to remote database.
Where can I ask such questions in Apple support. Should I wait until apple reject or not . Or is there an official way to ask before the project. Googling is good but it is not saying last decision.
Thanks
Ali

  • Can I use the same sim card when I switch to the verizon edge plan?

I will be receiving my new Samsung Galaxy s5 that will be on the Verizon Edge plan. It will be arriving with a sim card. Can I just take my current sim card on my current phone and just use it with the s5? or will I have to use the sim card it comes with because I switched to the Edge plan?

You should be able to use the same SIM card; if they are different sizes, you can get an adapter or go ahead and use the SIM card that comes with the phone.

  • When I sell my iPhone 3GS, do I need to leave the old sim card in it

I'm sure I read somewhere about selling an iPhone, and having to sell it with the sim card that has always been used with it. I can't remember the reason for this, but I wondered if this is true?
The reason I ask is. When the iPhone 4 comes out, I will be getting one. I know the iPhone 4 will use the micro sim card, so I won't have any use for the sim card that is presently installed in my 3GS. So do I need to leave the sim card in the 3GS, for when I sell the 3GS on to the new user?
    Thanks in advance

Once the number has been moved to another SIM, it (the number) will not work on the old one.
    Thanks for agreeing with me?

But the phone still needs to have the deactivated SIM in it, to do anything. It will still be usable over Wifi, iPod, etc. But only if it contains a SIM.
How is this YOUR responsibility if you are selling the phone?

There will be no problem activating a new number on the old SIM.
It is almost certain that AT&T will want to provide an updated SIM during a new line activation as the OP's description implies it will be used for phone service.
It is also likely that the purchasers of the device already has a line and his own SIM - so your point ends up being moot.

  • IPhone 4S fell on some water, was working but now won't work. I got a replacement coming. Can I use the old Sim card in the new phone if it wasn't damaged? Will I get my pictures and contacts and messages back if it wasn't damaged?

My iPhone 4S accidentally fell into a very shallow bit of water. The phone was wet, but worked afterwards for a short bit. Now it's not working, so I called and got a replacement phone coming. Same exact phone. Can I use the old Sim card in the new phone without harming anything? I don't know if the sim card got messed up or not, but I had a lot of pictures and messages and my contacts on my phone, and I assume these were on the sim card or am I wrong? I just wan to know if I can use the old sim card if it's still working in the new phone that is coming, as long as there was no damage to it? Thanks

I think I had it on the iCloud, I just changed computers and had part of my old computer backed up, where are the default iTunes info saved like the pictures and I know my contacts were backed up cuz I kept getting updated stuff that I wasn't sure about, but it was contacts where some belonged to my wife's contacts....but anyway, if the cloud backed up contacts, it should have grabbed pictures too? Like I asked before, if they were backed up to the computer, is there a default iTunes folder they are saved to? I had a crap load of pictures on there that I usually could really access if I was connected to wi-fi. I turned off my data stuff as I only have 4GB and between me and my 2 kids, we seemed to use up a lot of it. My son would play music from Pandora during work, and use up all our data til I limited him to only 3GB, my daughter and I barely used 1GB. Anyway, thanks to everybody that is answering. I thought I might have done good finding the dang sim card, but pointless I guess.
Ralph - F.Y.I. I would be happy to back up the iPhone if I could turn it on LOL......I am pretty positive I did, but what about Text messages? ANY of those saved too or not? Sorry guys, I don't know a **** of a lot about cell phones, but I do know about memory cards, but not sim cards that act like memory cards or look like them anyway. What is the purpose of a sim card if I may ask a stupid question since they don't hold any data from my phone stuff. I just hope my stuff comes back on the new replacement phone once I get it up and running. Again, thanks to everybody for the edumucation.

  • Cant edit sim card number

Hello all.  Brand new phone.  Old sim card.  Sim card number has a lot of strange numbers after my phone number.  when i select "edit sim card number"  nothing happens.  All of the posts i read seem to end here.  Any suggestions when the "nothing" happens?  Thank you!!

or you can go to Settings>General>About and that "SIM Card Number" is the ICCID. It should begin with 8901

  • Can I switch back and forth the same sim card between an old iPhone 4 and a new one never used in order to activate the latter? Should I use same Apple Account?

Can I switch back and forth the same sim card between an old iPhone 4 and a new one never used in order to activate the latter? Should I use same Apple Account? Should I activate it via WiFi or iTunes? I am filtering on the MAC no and I cannot read that number from the new iPhone without having it activated??!!
All I want do is to have the new phone activated and then tested!
    Ciao // Mufftas

    Yes, you can do that.

  • Use current sim card in unlocked phone?

I currently have a damaged Droid Maxx and need a new phone without changing my current plan. I can get a used S4 from US Cellular. Can I use my current SIM card in the S4 on Verizon?
    Thanks,

The only "unlocked" devices that can be used on VzW are data-only LTE devices that support VzW frequencies. The only device like this that I am aware of is the new LTE Nexus 7, and I don't even think it's available yet.
As Ann said, the CDMA radios of these "unlocked" LTE phones are still locked to their CDMA provider, adn there's no easy way to change that.

No. Call Apple Care and give them the serial number. They may be able to tell you who it is locked to.

  • Can I use the nano sim card of iPhone 5C for an iPhone 4S?

My grandmother has been thinking of buying an iPhone 5C (because she saw a good deal) and she wants to give it to me and use her old iPhone 4S. The problem is that she wants to use the nano sim card of the 5C for her 4S in order to save her phone number that she will receive once she buys the phone. Is it possible for a 4S to work with the sim card of a 5C?

if you use an adaptor to make it a microSim if thats what your 4s use then yes

  • What is stored, in addition to contacts, on the iPhone sim card?

Other than Contacts, what is stored on the iphone sim card?

The iPhone can store contacts to the SIM Card, but this is not supported by Apple, but the iPhone can actually write to the SIM Card. The iPhone can read contacts from the SIM Card, so if any contacts are present, it can read them perfectly.
The SIM Card stores your personal phone number and has the User specific Carrier ICCID number among other possible proprietary information.

  • Getting SIM card number from iPhone 5

I just got my iPhone 5.  It's asking me to give my SIM card number in order to activate it online.  The instructions are saying to take the back cover off of the phone. How do I do that?  Doesn't look like I can. I tried using a pin to open the side of it but that didn't work.

This answer a little late but will post anyway in case another person comes this way:
If the SIM is already installed in your phone, you can browse to the Settings area and obtain there.
    Settings > General > About
Locate the ICCID number. It is typically 20 digits long (5 groups of 4 digits).  This is the SIM card number.
If the Phone was shipped with the SIM installed, this ICCID number is usually written on the label that is affixed to the outsided of the box.
    Hope this helps.
This worked! Saved me a trip home, and trying to scrounge up a pin...
