Accomodating different FY calendars in Fixed Assets
Hello All,
Our client wants to maintain two separate and distinct fiscal year calendars for Fixed Assets:
1. One for Financial statements (Oct - Sep) and the other for
2 .Tax reporting and compliance purposes. (Jan - Dec)
How would you accommodate this requirement ?
Thanks.
Thanks Loretta,
I assume its Note: 844029 and not 884029. I also went through the Note - But with so many limitations (Write -Ups, Post capitalizations, legacy data conversions etc) not working.
Is your client OK with it. We will be on ECC6.0.
I shall definitely let you know if I find something.

Accomodating Different Fiscal Year Variants in Fixed Assets.
Hello All,
Our client wants to maintain two separate and distinct fiscal year calendars for Fixed Assets:
1. One for Financial statements (Oct - Sep) and the other for
2 .Tax reporting and compliance purposes. (Jan - Dec)
How would you accommodate this requirement ?
Thanks.Thanks Vijay,
But a different fiscal year version can only be used in Asset Accounting if the start and end dates of the versions in Asset Accounting and Financial Accounting are the same.
This is not the case with us.
Dep Area 01 for Company financials is 4-5-4.
Dep Area XX for Local Legal Req is Jan to Dec.
How do you accomodate this ?
Thanks. -
Fixed Assets Mid-Month rule using non-calendar fiscal months.
Our fiscal year variant is year dependent with twelve posting periods. For example, period 11 for fiscal year 2007 is defined as 29-Oct-07 through 25-Nov-07 and period 12 is defined as 26-Nov-07 through 31-Dec-07.
Fixed Asset depreciation keys MSTL and NA1 use period control 03 (Pro rata at mid-period). Period control 03 is currently not configured in our SAP development system. The IMG help text for Use of Half Months in the Company Code states that You cannot use half periods with non-calendar fiscal months.
How do USA companies configure mid-month depreciation keys (like MSTL and NA1) and mid-quarter depreciation keys when they use non-calendar fiscal months?Mike,
Would be helfpul if you can describe how you resolved the above issue
Thanks. -
Fixed assets depreciation wherein local and system currency is differeent
Hi,
We just have a question regarding the Fixed Asset Depreciation if Local and System Currency is different.
Setup of Currency:
Local Currency = USD
System Currency = Peso
During monthly amortization the depreciation is in Local Currency (USD) converted amount at the time of acquisiton if other currency is used. The corresponding system amount which is in Peso will use the FOREX rate based on the posting date of the depreciation run.
What we want is to maintain a correct lapsing schedule of Fixed Assets in both PHP & USD, and both following the accounting standard. Therefore, to be in line w/ the standard, we have to use the historical rates.
Is it possible that when the depreciation was posted in system currency the historical or the acquisition rates will be used not the conversion rate when the depreciation was done?
Thanks,
JaniceHi Janice,
I don't think that is possible to maintain system consistency. if you could assign FOREX arbitrarily, what is your accounting principle?
Thanks,

When running the Fixed Asset Book report, the system shows every instance of an asset number. By that I mean that when and asset has changed locations the asset shows in the report in both locations with a value of zero in one location. This makes using this report for NBV reconciliations to the GL very difficult as I need to find ways of tracking and eliminating the duplicates before I can even begin.
Is there a way to get the report to provide the data only in the current locations or is there a differant report I can use that provides a NBV at a period end broken out by cost and accumulated depreciation.
Any assistance would be appreciated. Please see (FAQ: RXi Reports (JGRX/RXJG, FARX/RXFA, APRX/RXAP, ARRX/RXAR) [ID 430075.1]) -- How To Find The Source Code Of An RXi Report ?

Hi,
Any idea to do (by import and manual create) the opening balance for fixed asset Mmaster data? Tried to search SAP notes or guide, only can find related topic on Import FA Master Data and not manual create of FA Master Data, and how to import the FA Master Data with belong to same Asset Type (same life-span) but due to purchase at different timing, now having different remaining life span).
Thank you.Hello,
I am sorry for unclear answer. I did not mean that you have to develop addon.
after checking our client database, I see that one asset class will have same useful life and depreciation type which it means that different asset class can only the way to have different useful life (UL), and of course it will be different in depreciation type (DT).
For example : machine A : UL : 96, DT : SL12.5
land B ; UL 250 DT : SL25.
Hope you also could discuss with SAP support about this.

I am using SBO8.81PL6. I am importing fixed asset master data and observing some strange behavior. When uploading fully depreciated assets, all assets are imported successfully but with the same capitalization and Depreciation start date of 30/11/99. This date is wrong. My template has different capitalization and Depreciation start dates for the different items and none of the date is 30/11/99. Import of assets that are not fully depreciated fails.
I have gone through the following link and all appear well done.http://How to import Fixed Asset Master File
Please help me resolve this issue.
George NjugunaHi Gordon,
Thanks, My date format was YYYY/MM/DD. I changed to YYYY-MM-DD and it worked.

Fixed Asset Importation Issue (Capitalisation Date)
Hello experts,
I have an issue regarding fixed asset importation.
I've import the fixed asset master data correctly in the system, with it's correct capitalisation date, APC, depreciation cumulative value and everything else correctly in the master data. Under Administration --> Data Import/Export --> Data Import --> Import Fixed Asset Master Data from Microsoft Excel.
However, where the issue is, it's now on the fixed asset history sheet, where the capitalisation date, is defined as the first date of the fiscal year "01/01/2014". Where by none of these assets were purchased on that date. But everything else on the report is correct except the capitalisation date.
Due to this issue, it is hard to explain how an asset was purchased on 01/01/2014, which have a use full life of 4 years, has depreciate completely in 2015. But if I check in its master data, I find out the capitalisation date is like in 6 years ego.
Note: I'm using SAP Business One 9.0 PL11
Any suggestion, comment or help is highly appreciated.
Best Regards,
Cedric KayitareHi Cedric,
Capitalization date won't change it self after import. Check your import sheet which capitalization date you have enter. you need to execute fiscal year change and then import sheet.
If you have capitalization date for different years then you should have all period created and then year transfer.
In that case you will have to run depreciation from SAP for all corresponding year.
Post your sheet with heading for more understanding.

Import Fixed Asset on Previous Year
Hi experts,
I would like to know, is it possible to upload fixed asset on previous year as fiscal year. For example I want to upload asset per June 2010 as beginning period, I tried several ways to upload but I couldn't find the right one.
I tried to upload fixed asset data with depreciation start / capitalization date before Jan 2010 and succeed
eg.
Asset: Printer
Acquisition date: 01 Feb 2009
Depreciation start date: 01 Feb 2009
APC value: 22000000
Useful Life: 36
Remaining Life: 25
Ordinary Depr: 8066667
But it didn't work out with the depreciation start / capitalization date on Jan - Jun 2010
eg.
Asset: Printer
Acquisition date: 01 March 2010
Depreciation start date: 01 March 2010
APC value: 2100000
Useful Life: 36
Remaining Life: 36
Ordinary Depr: 0
Any help will be most appreciated. ThanksYes, I did. It said "We recommend you to import fixed asset master in the past years. If you insist on importing an asset for the current fiscal year, make sure the depreciation start date is the first date of current fiscal year and the Remaining Life is the same as the Useful Life." This case is different, the company wants to upload asset as per June 2010 as its beginning balance =) Thx for your reply Julie

Hi!
We are about to execute Fixed Asset Closing (trans code AJAB), which is a pre-requisite before closing FI. What FI closing is this? Is it the trans code S_ALR_87003642 (Open and Close Posting periods) or the F.16 (Balance Carry Forward)?
Also, FI-AA module allows two fiscal years being open. We are following the Fiscal Calendar period being Dec 2006 is our last month period for year 2006. We are now in new Fiscal Year 2007. Is this means that is it okey not to close Fiscal Year 2006?
Thanks for your inputs.
RobertoHi Robert,
AJAB closes the year in the sub-module and prevents postings with assets in it. Also, changes in the depreciation keys and useful lives of the asset doesn't touch posted depreciation in closed year. You have to close the year in the sub-module (AA) before closing it in FI.
You have to close the FI periods in S_ALR_87003642 separately for asset accounts (type A). However, if you close with AJAB, you cannot update asset accounts for closed year as you cannot post with any asset in it.
Transaction code AJRW in AA is analogous to F.16 in FI.
Yes, you may not close 2006 yet as the current year is 2007. But you have to close 2005 already, if you have not done it yet.

Modify fixed asset master data thru migo
Hi experts,
I make PO with account assigment 'fixed asset'. This asset is created during the PO creation. When materials arrive more fields of that fixed asset master data are known (ie serial number). I'd like to have a way to save those data in asset during the GR without using 2 different transactions.
In MIGO t/c i see the fixed asset number and double clicking on it i access to display asset: master data (as i was on AS03 tc).
Do you think a way to call AS02 (change asset master data) thru MIGO exists?
Best regards,
RubenHi Ruben,
Did you find a solution to your problem? I have a similar requirement.
I was planning on using the user-exit MBCF0005 to call a pop-up screen where the user can input the serial number and from there calling the BAPI to update the asset.
Cheers

Transfer of a fixed asset to a WBS
Hello Everybody ,
I need your help.
A new scenario has come over here and i am not getting how to implement it in
SAP .
Scenario is :
1. We have a fixed asset at cost center .
2. Now the asset is need to be replaced .
3. We settled new asset at that cost center .
4. Old asset needs to be used in a project.
Problem is :
Client is required that old asset that was replaced, should be transferred to a new project or WBS where the asset final cost
(including depreciation) should consume the budget from the WBS .
Example:
Asset cost along with depreciation is say Rs 50000.
We transferred an Asset to a new WBS where budget is defined 80000.
So as asset gets transferred , remaining WBS budget value should be 80000 - 50000 = 30000 means old asset value should get expensed by WBS .
Then later on we can settle the asset along with the AUC of WBS.
Conclusion:
We need to transfer an fixed asset that is not in anymore used in that defined cost center and need to be replaced and after replacement it should get transferred to a WBS where WBS budget value would be reduced equal to asset value along with depreciation and later on we could transfer it to a cost center where asset is required.
Thanks,
Jagjeet SandhuHi Sunil.
Thanks for your valuable response .
But issue is bit different
Scenario is :
We dont have to make asset as an scrap.
Ex:
We have to take the same asset to another WBS without making scrap and the current asset value should be expensed from the defined WBS budget .
How the asset at cost centre would be transferred to WBS and should be capitalised again at new WBS .
Kindly share the procedure .
Thanks & Regards -
Report in SAP that shows me the fixed assets per vendor
Hi,
I have been asked to produce the following;
Can I run a report in SAP that shows me the fixed assets per vendor?
I need the detail of the depreciations (start and end date, purchase price, depreciation rate, methodu2026) and the fixed assets register (purchase amount, purchase date, vendor nameu2026)
Could you kindly explain to me in simple steps what report I should run?
Many thanks in advance.
AlexHi, there is no such report in SAP. You can develop your own, The main issue is that to get vendor for asset to which were issued material from storage. You can do it via batch(write down while purchasing to some field, or to find it via batch). Fir material for which batch management is not active it's not possible to, because you can buy one material from different vendors.

Multiple depreceation areas in Fixed asset module
Hi All
My customer wishes to implement the fixed asset module and is currently running three separate books in his asset register.
Each asset has a separate net book value for each book (i.e. depreciation area) since they are depreciated at different rates.
Now i need to upload all the fixed assets but need to upload the three different net book values per asset based on the depreciation area selected - but cant seem to find a way to do this.
If i create a new asset and then depreciate it, SAP shows the different net book values - so the system obviously supports the process. But how can i put in the assets?
Any assistance would be appreciated.
Thanks

How to relate the Fixed Asset module to Purchase Order?
Hello experts,
Good day!
How can I relate the fixed assets to purchase order? Is there a ways, so that we can't create different item code for purchase cycle and fixed asset module...
2nd, how to Increase the net value of fixed assets ( vehicle, machines) without affecting Profit and Loss? what is the SAP process to do this? Please help me on this..
Thanks,
MariHi Mari,
First I suggest you add a lot more info. Are you doing this in Crsytal Report Designer or are you referring to one of the SAP applications? If an SAP app then please mark this case as answered and post your question to the SAP forums.
If you are using Crystal Reports then need more info like the version and what those tables are and if you can use a common link?
Thank you
Don
