ACE 4170 web services probe

We are currently using the ACE 4170 for web service load balancing.  However we would like a more robust load balancing probe that would ideally make a web service call via SOAP, analyze the response, and decide on current load for the specified server or at least on health of the specified server for failover.
So far I've been unable to find much documentation on this type of probe.  Is there a script available that implements the above via TCL or is does this have to be done via shell scripting and CURL?
Thanks.

Good morning,
I'm afraid none of the scripts included with the ACE has the functionality you are looking for, so, you will have to write it yourself using TCL.
You can use the default scripts (available at http://www.cisco.com/cisco/software/release.html?mdfid=281222179&flowid=151&softwareid=282775314&release=A4%281.1%29&relind=AVAILABLE&rellifecycle=&reltype=latest) as a base and modify them.
I would also recommend having a look at the official documentation (http://www.cisco.com/en/US/partner/docs/app_ntwk_services/data_center_app_services/ace_appliances/vA4_2_0/configuration/slb/guide/script.html) for further details on the TCL commands supported by the ACE.

  • Prob with Adaptive Web Service Model and Response with reference of itself

    Hi guys,
    I am facing a problem with the Adaptive WebService Model. I have a WebService which is working properly in a Servlet and also in the web service navigator,
    The webService has a method let´s say create(objectDTO). The structure of objectDTO is like this:
    propertieA
    propertieB
    propertieC
    propertieChildObjectDTO
    So I can pass a list of objectDTOs to the webService. If i import the webService the structure in the model looks fine, but if i want to map it to any context, only the properties A-C are mapped. propertieChildObjectDTO is not mapped.
    Has anyone a clue on how to solve this problem ? I just tried to add and initialize the propertieChildObjectDTO manually but I got a NullPointerException.
    I would appreciate  your help.
    Happy new year guys

    I hav bypassed this web service by hardcoding in the code where it has been called.
    Today again I try to run the application, The Shipping Web service worked fine but only once then again the same error got displayed!
    I think it's all due to the proxy authentication code that it goes in a loop !
    Mike, I hav cleaned the deployment files before redeploying the application.
    As far as the "WS-demo=...." etc files which u ver referring to.. I think it's due to the profile dependencies in the deployment profile for the WS-demo app where all the web services deployment are checked. I had unchecked that option since i deployed al the web services individually.
    Please anyone has any clue what's wrong.
    I tried deploying a simple web service in Oracle9iAS Rel 2 and try to access that through a JSP deployed in standalone OC4J. Ther also it hanged ? Is it due to proxy authentication. Is there some additional procedure for deploying web service to Oracle9iAS?
    Please reply ASAP !!

  • Cannot get envy 110 to connect to web services, although when first plugged in no probs

    as above, product worked perfectly out of the box but now will not connect to web services, on my home network everything else works fine, any ideas???

    Let's set a static IP address for the printer:
    - Print a Network Config Page from the front of the printer. Note the printer's IP address.
    - Type that IP address into a browser to reveal the printer's internal settings.
    - Choose the Networking tab, then Wireless along the left side, then the IPv4 tab.
    - On this screen you want to set a Manual IP. You need to set an IP address outside the range that the router automatically sets (called the DHCP range). You can find the DHCP range of the router using its internal settings page or in its manual. Use the CD that came with your router or type the router's IP address (ends in .1) into a browser.
    - Use 255.255.255.0 for the subnet (unless you know it is different, if so, use that)
    - Enter your router's IP (on the Network Config Page) for the gateway.
    - Enter 8.8.8.8 for the first DNS and 8.8.4.4 for the second DNS.
    - Click 'Apply'.
    Now, shut down the router and printer, start the router, wait, then start the printer.
    After this you may need to redo 'Add a Printer' using the new IP address.

  • State of Web-Services

    Hi,
    I am new to Aqualogic Service Bus 2.0
    Web-Services as such are stateless entities.I have a business requirement wherein i need to save the state information of the Web-Service.
    Can anyone help me out in knowing whether Aqualogic provides this feature for saving the state information of Web-Services ?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hello Andrew,
    The API for ANM is purely for configuration, it does not return anything other than configuration.  The state of "inservice" or "out of service" relates to the command under the rserver:
    rserver host Server05
    ip address 172.16.35.14
    inservice <======= **Here**
    The probe states don't relate to the configuration, so the API doesn't have a plugin to that information.
    However - You could use SNMP seperately to gathter that probe state directly from the ACE and intigrate that into the page you are executing the API for.

    Chris Higgins

  • ANM web services - Get operational state of an SfRserver

    Is there any way to obtain the operational state of a serverfarm realserver via the ANM (4.1) web services API?  The SfRserver data type includes the admin state (i.e. IS, ISS, or OOS) but I dont see a field for the operational state.  The ANM web GUI displays both an admin state and an operational state for a serverfarm realserver -- with the operational state indicating the latest probe status for the real server (e.g. "Up" or "Probe Failed") and I would like to obtain the same information but using the ANM web services interface.

    Hello Andrew,

  • Unable to open connection to MS Access 2013 .accdb file Under WCF Web Service Project Using Windows 8.1 64bit

    I am encountering the following error when trying to connect to an Access 2013 database:
    The 'Microsoft.ACE.OLEDB.12.0' provider is not registered on the local machine.
    I have Visual Studio 2013 SP3 running on Windows 8.1 64bit OS which also has Office 2013 installed (which includes MS Access 2013).  My project is a WCF web service using .NET Framework 4.5.1 using any cpu as target.  I have tried reluctantly
    to install the older drivers as described by in the below article:
    https://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/1d5c04c7-157f-4955-a14b-41d912d50a64/how-to-fix-error-the-microsoftaceoledb120-provider-is-not-registered-on-the-local-machine?forum=vstsdb
     and also went through the "Add Data Source" wizard in the Project menu to have the connect string automatically built.  Even with the automatically built connect string I can not connect to the .accdb file from within my WCF web service.
    What's odd is if I use the Database Explorer in Visual Studio it has no problem connecting the my Access file.  I inspected the connect string and tried to use it as well but still get the same error. Even stranger is that I have no problem connecting
    to the Access DB in an ASP.NET project on the same PC. I am also able to connect to the Access file using a simple Windows Forms application.  So I'm wondering if it has something to do with trying to connect to the Access file from a WCF web service
    project.
    What I'd like to know is if anyone has been able to get this to work in an environment as I described above as a 64bit WCF web service project?  I tried to switch my project to 32bit but when I do I get a different error which reads:
    System.BadImageFormatException: Could not load file or assembly 'file:
    Almost to the point of trying to get this web service project done with SQL Express but would like to know if it can be done with MS Access 2013.  Any information anyone can provide to help me get past this issue is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

    Have you installed the 64-bit Access driver on your machine? See
    Data Source Names and 64-Bit Operating Systems for the differences in odbcad32. Call %SystemRoot%\system32\odbcad32.exe to check the drivers.
    How do you host your service? Stand-alone or IIS or embedded to another application? Keep in mind that IIS7 runs it in its application pool which is defaullt 64bit. Thus the bad image exception, when compiling your service as 32bit.
    When you need the Access database for your service to store informtation, then I would switch to SQL Server (Express) or XML files depending on your actual needs.
    Also check whether your account under which your service is run has the necessary NTFS file permissions on the access file and the folder. This is getting even more complex when it's a remote folder.

  • EJB 3.0 Web Services - Custom Request/Response Wrappers

    Hi All,
    I'm having an issue using Document Literal Wrapped web services with EJB 3.0. I have declared a service endpoint interface(SEI) in one jar file, along with custom wrapper classes for the requests and responses. The wrappers have the XML content customized a bit (different type names, etc.), but should be compatible with the @RequestWrapper and @ResponseWrapper annotations. The implementation is in an EJB jar file that includes the jar with the SEI in it. My issue is that the wrapper classes I declared are not being used, and instead new ones are being generated. Is it even possible for it to use supplied wrappers, or does it have to generate its own (and if so, is it in any way possible to specify the XML types it generates). I've tested this with wsgen, and I get the same result (new wrapper classes, the ones I supplied ignored) as when I deploy it. Here is the output from wsgen:
    Note: ap round: 1
    [ProcessedMethods Interface: com.company.IngestorService]
    [should process method: ingestProductDirectory hasWebMethods: false ]
    [endpointReferencesInterface: true]
    [declaring class has WebSevice: true]
    [returning: true]
    [WrapperGen - method: ingestProductDirectory(java.lang.String,java.lang.String)]
    [method.getDeclaringType(): com.company.IngestorService]
    [requestWrapper: com.company.IngestProductDirectoryRequest]
    [should process method: datatypes hasWebMethods: false ]
    [endpointReferencesInterface: true]
    [declaring class has WebSevice: true]
    [returning: true]
    [WrapperGen - method: datatypes()]
    [method.getDeclaringType(): com.company.IngestorService]
    [requestWrapper: com.company.DatatypesRequest]
    com\company\DatatypesRequest.java
    com\company\DatatypesResponse.java
    com\company\IngestProductDirectoryRequest.java
    com\company\IngestProductDirectoryResponse.java
    Note: ap round: 2
    I note that is says "hasWebMethods: false". Could that be an issue? Could it not be seeing my methods as web methods. The SEI and the implementation class are in different jar files and different packages. Could this be an issue?
    Here is the web service interface:
    @WebService(
    name = "IngestorService",
    targetNamespace = "http://company.com/"
    @SOAPBinding(

    className = "com.company.DatatypesRequest"
    @ResponseWrapper(
    localName = "DatatypesResponse",
    className = "com.company.DatatypesResponse"
    public List datatypes();
    Here are the datatype request and response wrappers:
    @XmlAccessorType(XmlAccessType.FIELD)
    @XmlType(
    name = "DatatypesRequest"
    public class DatatypesRequest
    DatatypesResponse.java:
    @XmlAccessorType(XmlAccessType.PROPERTY)
    @XmlType(
    name = "DatatypesResponse",
    propOrder =
    "datatypes"
    public class DatatypesResponse
    private List<String> _datatypes;
    @XmlElementWrapper(

    required = true,
    nillable = false
    @XmlElement(

    required = false
    public List<String> getDatatypes() {
    if (_datatypes == null) {

    I have been trying to do the same... and it seems to be impossible... (or completly undocumented).
    It seems that OC4J 10.3.x is ... no exactly fully EJB3/J2EE5 compliant...
    Or something like that:
    http://blogs.infosupport.com/berte/archive/2005/09/09/1117.aspx
    IMHO... OC4J 10.3.x is still a preview for OC4J 11...
    OC4J 10.3.x is kind of a J2EE4/5 hybrid... if you start digging in the documentation, you will find out that the only
    way to have WS-Security is going back to J2EE4 http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/jdev/howtos/1013/wssecure/10gwssecurity_howto.html

  • HTTP error when trying to access RESTful web service from application

    Hi,
    We are getting the following error when trying to access a RESTful web service coming from Apex workspace 4.2.1 and Apex listener 2.1:
    ORA-29273: HTTP request failed ORA-06512: at "SYS.UTL_HTTP", line 1130 ORA-29024: Certificate validation failure
    In the Debug report, besides the above I also see:
    error_backtrace: ORA-06512: at "SYS.UTL_HTTP", line 1130 ORA-06512: at "APEX_040200.WWV_FLOW_WEB_SERVICES", line 543 ORA-06512: at "APEX_040200.WWV_FLOW_WEB_SERVICES", line 1164 ORA-06512: at "APEX_040200.WWV_FLOW_PROCESS", line 396
    We get that error whether we use https or http in the URI pointing to the web service. When I test the Web Service in Workspace RESTful service GUI, I get the data back. When I go build an application with a report calling the RESTful Web Service I get that error. Both the Application and the Workspace RESTful services are on the same Apex environment and even the same workspace.
    What is odd is that I can actually put the URL of the web service into a browser and I get the data: (using the demo hr data in sample RESTful services.)
    IN browser-- https://weblogic-dev.edu/apex/ace/hr/empinfo/

    Any ideas on what would be causing the Error above in our application?

    In reviewing the above error, I think we are realizing that we have to have the Weblogic layer SSL cert (actually the CERT from our BigIP load balancer which also does our SSL termination) imported into the Oracle server wallet where Apex is installed. Am I correct?
    PM

    We resolved our problem. The Apex Administrative Guide made us realize that we had to set up Wallet path in the Instance. This required working with DBAs to follow the Advanced networking guide to get the wallet set up on our server. We then added that path to the Instance configuration. (Manager Instance --> Instance settings). We ran into another other issue related to our implementation of CAS but were able to resolve that, and 'voila' were able to get the sample RESTful service consumed by our application!!
    Now to the task of figuring out how to get Basic Auth working between client application and RESTful web service. If anyone has that working, let us know!!
    It would be helpful if in the documentation of the Apex 2.x listener or Apex install/configuration there was clear reference to the above steps required for HTTPS access to RESTful web services.

    Ive ran into similar proples using normal ssl over http and the issues were with my environmet configuration ... yours may be with somthing totally different... but i fixed my probs by adding the folling code before creating the connection.
    java.security.Provider provider[] =
      java.security.Security.getProviders();
    for (int i = 0; i < provider.length; i++) {
      java.security.Security.removeProvider(
        provider<i>.getName());
    java.security.Security.insertProviderAt(
    new com.sun.net.ssl.internal.ssl.Provider(), 2);
    java.security.Security.insertProviderAt(
    new sun.security.provider.Sun(), 1);
    System.setProperty(
    "java.protocol.handler.pkgs",
    "com.sun.net.ssl.internal.www.protocol");
    you can also accomplish this by modifying the java.security file found in \jre\lib\security directory.
    Also because this is a stand alone app be sure to have all the necessary jar files in you classpath ... you can accomplish this by using the -classpath option when calling your program or by moving the files into you \bin\lib\ext directory;

  • Second level child rows not getting updated by a web service call

    hi,
    I have a web service that takes a Header object (type: Header). Below is the part of the WS schema:
    <xsd:complexType name="Header">
    <xsd:sequence>
    <xsd:element name="Segment1" type="xsd:string" minOccurs="0"/>
    <xsd:element name="SoldtoBuId" type="xsd:long" minOccurs="0" nillable="true"/>
    <xsd:element name="ChangeAcceptedFlag" type="xsd:string" minOccurs="0" nillable="true"/>
    <xsd:element name="Lines" type="Line" minOccurs="0" maxOccurs="unbounded"/>
    </xsd:sequence>
    </xsd:complexType>
    <xsd:complexType name="Line">
    <xsd:sequence>
    <xsd:element name="LineNum" type="xsd:long" minOccurs="0" nillable="true"/>
    <xsd:element name="ChangeAcceptedFlag" type="xsd:string" minOccurs="0" nillable="true"/>
    <xsd:element name="Schedules" type="Schedule" minOccurs="0" maxOccurs="unbounded"/>
    </xsd:sequence>
    </xsd:complexType>
    <xsd:complexType name="Schedule">
    <xsd:sequence>
    <xsd:element name="ScheduleNum" type="xsd:long" minOccurs="0" nillable="true"/>
    <xsd:element name="ChangeAcceptedFlag" type="xsd:string" minOccurs="0" nillable="true"/>
    </xsd:sequence>
    </xsd:complexType>
    So a header element can have one or more lines and a line can have one or more schedules.
    Each of those entities have are based on tables (via EO & VO).
    Header table has primary key of HeaderId,
    Line table has primary key of LineId,
    Schedule table has primary key of ScheduleId,
    These primary keys are not part of the schema however they are there in the VOs.
    A Header can be uniquely identified by combination of Segment1 & SoldToBu which are part of the header element and they are added as a Altkey on the HeaderVO,
    For a given header a line can be uniquely identified by the LineNum which is added as Alt key on LineVo,
    And for a given line a schedule can be uniquely identified by the ScheduleNum which is added as Alt key on ScheduleVo.
    LineVO is added to the Service AM under HeaderVO via a ViewLink and similarly ScheduleVO is added below LineVO via viewLink.
    When I invoke the webservice the service identifies the header and line rows and updates them. It also identifies schedule rows but they are not getting updated.
    Any Idea what the prob. can be.
    Thanks in Advance!!

    Hi Juhani,
    Do you try to execute the Web Service with SoapUI or XMLSpy??
    I think that is not a problem with abap side, but with java. I recomend to you use the following prefix in function modules:
    IMPORTING: I_
    EXPORTING: E_
    TABLES: T_

  • Complex datatype in Web Services

    The work involved in handling complex datatype as part of the Web Services
    (JDev 9.0.3) seems to be very complex and not very well documented. (as
    far as I can tell).
    Is there an easy way for a Java client to bypass the deserialization altogether
    and just get the raw SOAP XML as returned from a Web Service.
    From the Raw XML, we could use the regular parsing tools to do whatever
    is necessary with the data. For example, I would like to transform the
    XML returned by using a simple XSL transformation.
    This would bypass the complexity of mapping all elements of an object that
    I would not really use in Java anyway. (I would pass the result of the XSL
    transformation to a 'C' program (yes I know it's ugly, but I still use 'C' for
    processing data...)
    I would really appreciate if anybody had experience in doing something like
    that.
    Thanks.

    Hi Denis - I think I might have run into a similar prob. I have been able create and successfully test a web service as long as the input object types are Strings. When I try to do this with a complex data type it fails. "Complex" in this case means an object containing 2 string and 1 double (i.e. not a standard java.lang objects for which serializers are predefined).
    Did you encounter the following error message?
    [SOAPException: faultCode=SOAP-ENV:Client; msg=No Deserializer found to deserialize a &apos;http://IWidgetConsumer.xsd:Widget&apos; using encoding style &apos;http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/encoding/&apos;. [java.lang.IllegalArgumentException]]
    Process exited with exit code 0.
    Thanks

  • Problem getting RESTful web service reference working with header value

    Hi,
    I posted this on Apex Listener forum but since I am not sure problem is with my Application RESTful web service reference or a Listener issue, I am posting here as well:
    I am on Apex 4.2.2 and Listener 2.1 and the listener is on WEblogic.
    I succeeded to get a RESTful web service working in an application with no header to obtain a full set of data. The data set is very large, so I am now just trying to set up a web service to get a set of data based on a student ID.
    I followed the examples shown in the RESTful web service module of SQL Workshop and set up a handler of this type:
    https://ourweblogicserver/apex/bnr/ace/students/course_grades/{stid}
    The test for this handler succeeded both for JSON output and CSV output in the Workshop test environment.
    However, when I try it from a Web Service Reference that I created for my application following what looked like the same approach used on the example video, I get NO data back. If I put a 'stid' directly into a URL of a web browser and do the basic authentication I get the data!!
    This is what I have for the Web service reference:
    https://ourweblogicserver/apex/bnr/ace/students/course_grades/{stid}
    Basic auth set to Yes -- and this is working -- I am able to authenticate
    HTTP method Get
    output format Text
    no response Xpath
    no response namespace
    defaults for new record and parameter delimiter
    NO REST input parameters
    Output set for all the fields in the data set queried (same set of data as in my rest service which does not have any http header)
    REST HTTP Header : Name stid
    I there something I am missing. I am not sure how to troubleshoot this further.
    I also tried exactly following the example shown on the Oracle Video for RESTFul web services at
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gkCvd6P8_OU
    and I can't get the 2nd example to work either-- where the header has the bind variable parameter.
    Pat

    I was able to resolve the problem -- in the latest version of the RESTful web service that I created, I had left out the creation of the Header Parameter bind variable. Once I did that everything works fine!! I was able to test in the application and got the record of an individual student.
    Thanks,
    PM
