Acrobat 6 Pro--issues collating?

I am trying to print a 49 page document using Adobe Acrobat 6.0 Professional on a Windows network. I am printing to an HP Color LaserJet 2605dn. When I try to print multiple copies of the document, and check the "collate" box in the print window, I simply get 3 copies of each page, which I then have to collate.
Another computer in the office which has Acrobat 8 (not Pro) does not seem to have this problem.
Obviously, the short-term solution is to print from the computer with 8, but it's (a) on the other side of the office from the printer, and when I'm printing multiple copies I need to be close by to refill paper etc. and (b) I often need the features that Professional offers (reducing file size, inserting/extracting pages).
Is this collating issue an inherent problem with 6.0, thus requiring an upgrade? Or is there some "hidden" setting somewhere I have overlooked?
Thanks

That did the trick!
I used the "repair" function (which I had never even noticed) and after a bit of confusing directions, the program re-installed correctly and I was able to launch it. (I'm afraid to try it again, of course).
Thanks so much for that tip. No one at Adobe seemed to have a clue and even my techie friends hadn't thought of it.
Much obliged.

    I don't know if this is the right section but I experience the following issue with Adobe Acrobat Pro XI installed on Windows 8.1. When I start Acrobat the related window opens normally but, after some scroll up and down along the document, it blocks, Acrobat doesn't respond to any command I can give and, in place of the pointer arrow, a vertical bar, as the one of the text editor appears. The only way I can stop Acrobat is by means of the task manager. I tried to de-install and the re- install Acrobat but the behaviour is always the same. What can I do??

    Have you opened Acrobat and gone to Help>Updates to get an updated install?

  • Unique issue with PDF to WORD .doc conversion with Acrobat Pro - any ideas?

    I have been unable to solve the following issue when converting (save as...) PDF documents to Microsoft Word .doc using numerous methods. This could either be an issue that would be fixed in Acrobat Pro itself, or in MS Word - posting to the Adobe forums first.
    PREFACE: I am attempting to use the converted .doc file with translation applications/software. Google Translator Toolkit is what I use the most, but ALL other translators are having this very same issue with the .doc file. --The source PDFs are product information from drug manufacturers in various countries that I need to have translated to English. I do not have access to their source documents, as they do not provide their own source docs for obvious reasons.
    ALSO: I cannot use Google Translator toolkit to translate from PDFs directly - if you do that, it will attempt to translate a PDF and then export in an .html file, but it does not get the exact spacing of the sentences correctly, which leads to errors in translating - key things such as "can take with alcohol" and "do not take with alcohol". So that's out!
    I am not having any problems with the resultant .doc file in MS Word itself. It looks right, the spacing matches the original PDF source perfectly, prints correctly, etc... Reference here on a product info sheet from Austria in German:
    The problem: This is a screenshot from Google Translator Toolkit - the right side of the image - the spacing in the lettering from the .doc file I am uploading is not being read correctly, resulting in untranslated gibberish. (Note: this isn't a problem with the translation applications or software -- all are having this issue with .doc files converted from .pdf - this issue isn't present with any old .doc file that wasn't converted from a .pdf) -- It's definitely got something to do with some kind of embedded data in the .doc file that I cannot isolate!!)
    My settings in Adobe Pro (convert from PDF to .doc):
    Page layout: Flowing Text (this prevents the resultant .doc from having all of those text boxes, which also don't then work in translators)
    Include comments: True
    Include images: True
    Run OCR if needed: True
    Notes:
    -I have run OCR text recognition on the source PDF files in it's specific language.
    -I have edited the accessibilty of the PDF and have run the tag recognition and quick checks (to see if they solved the issue, which it did not - tagged or untagged, same problems!)
    -I have exported the .doc BACK to PDF using MS Word's function, which results in a great looking tagged PDF. THEN I re-saved this new PDF back as a .doc - same issue.
    -I have tried saving the PDF in all of the other formats that the translators accept. All have different issues. The only one that works consistently is saving to a .txt (plain)... The best is a .doc to .doc conversion, with all the original spacing. (I am not spending hours reformatting a .txt translation in word)...
    I can't seem to find where this spacing data is in the .doc file!!!! (Changing the fonts, sizes, margins -- doesnt fix this either). I have tried so many methods...
    Any thoughts on other things to try in Adobe Pro (or Word)?
    EDIT: Here's an additional tidbit of info that may be the key to this... There's some kind of coding that is in the .doc that Adobe Pro converted from the source PDF that doesnt display in Word, but that is being seen by the translation programs....... I have no idea what these are, but I want to remove them!

    I would suggest you look at the fonts that are being used. It may be a font issue that is not properly being read by the translation program.

  • Issue attaching files in Adobe Reader from a form created in Adobe Acrobat Pro 9 Extended

    Hello all,
    I am having issues- big ones- please help!
    I have created a simple form in Adobe Acrobat Pro 9 extended version that will be made available in a local drive for our salesmen to open not online or in html format- fill in and send back to their manager and the factory- there are 2 e-mail submit buttons on this form and the user selects which one to send to.
    This form also has a button for save and for print. Everything works great except that the attach a file button I created. It works in Adobe Acrobat, but not in Reader. When you click the button in Reader it compresses but nothing happens.
    I have tried many different things- including extending the rights to adobe reader.
    Also, this form has a password protected security and I have given permission to print, to fill in the form and sign existing signature fields. When adding the security I made sure it said compatible with Adobe 3.0 and later versions.
    I know I have to do the security before I extend the rights to reader and not the other way around.
    Don't know what else to do.
    Any help would be appreciated!
    Thanks,
    A.

    I've attempted using Acrobat Pro to do the conversion, but it simply won't allow it.  Are there easier ways to have an online or fillable form, created in an Adobe program, such as LiveCycle or Acrobat Pro, sent or saved in a pdf format?
    For example: I make a form using an Adobe Program and put it online for people to fill out.  They fill it out and click a button to email it to me.  When I open it, is there a way to see it as a PDF document?
    Thank you for your help thus far.  It has been much  more informative than many of the forums I've attempted to decipher.

  • Acrobat Pro 9.3.1 MacOSX & XP Not the Same, Having YouTube Embedd Issues

    Hello Everyone,
    I am currently working on a project that requires cross platform MacOSX and PC XP users to see included Video From the Web from sources such as YouTube and Audio Sites embedded into a PDF.
    The content needs to appear the same in both platforms. The content must be a refference file to play within the PDF, video can not be copied and converted to another format and be re-embedded. The content must remain in the format housed on it's local server. *
    Using a technique I found on several Acrobat forums you can create an HTML page with the Embed Tags from YouTube then use Windows XP and Acrobat Pro 9.3.1 to convert it to a PDF. (I have VMware with XP and a Trial Of Acrobat Pro 9.3.1)
    On the PC you can then open the PDF and see the video play, so on the PC all is good. You can even copy and paste the video between other PC based PDF documents but none of the content is visible or playable within the MacOSX environments (10.5.8 or 10.6.2 with Acrobat 9.3.1 Pro). All You Get is blank page, the content is there if you move your mouse around it will change to an arrow and you can select it but it never connects to load the content. Sometimes it shows it is buffering to download but nothing happens. There is a Security menu that loads asking if you want to allow the connection and I say yes but it does nothing.
    Does anyone know how to resolve this issue?
    A person in one of the forums sent me a file Hulu Video Embedded into a PDF created on an Windows XP service pack 3 system with a trial of Acrobat pro 9.3.1., the file was a acrobat v.1.7 version accorinding to the properties manager and the unique this was it played fine on the Mac. Now when I try and duplicate this it fails to work, I have no idea why now. Any ideas?
    I am currently designing a project in Indesign and need to place the Multimedia content within the design for Online Distribution.
    Note that in Acrobat Pro 9.3.1 the Multimedia components do not allow for embedding the content in a Flash Element or Video Element on the PDF. It will refuse to recognize that format. I have copied the YouTube Embed Tags in the video and flash multimedia componetns with ZERO success, it always states that it is an unknown format. Placing Audio into the PDF works fine though. The only issue is that player looks strange till you select it the first time. (would like to resolve that as well)
    Any assistance would be appreciated.
    Note: PC Xp Software fully updated to latest builds, Acrobat 9.3.1 on Both MacOSX and XP Systems, Both MacOSX & XP have latest versions of Flash Player.
    Regards,
    Robert
    I am going to attach the file that was made for me showcasing that the video works on a Mac.
    The file is called: ByBrianForRobertWorksinMacOSX
    The next file I made on my Windows Xp Vmware with a trial of Acrobat Pro 9.3.1 - When I load it on the PC it works fine, but in the Mac it just states its buffering. The video is in pdf on the upper left corner under the text.

    Solution: install all fonts
    When the user installs Acrobat, they must use the Custom installation option and  select

  • Issue with Adobe Acrobat Pro XI Version 11.1.10

    Using Adobe Acrobat Pro XI version  11.1.10 when I try to delete a page I get an error message, "one or more pages are in use and cannot be deleted". I would like to delete the pages?

    Hi Frank,
    This type of error usually occurs when two or more than two programs are accessing the same file at a point of time.
    Does this issue occur with that specific pdf or with other pdfs too?
    How about if you make a copy of that pdf and then try deleting pages from that copied pdf? Do let me know if that works.
    If possible...Can you mail me that pdf file at [email protected] so that i can check this issue at my end?

    I have a DVD Acrobat Pro 9. I upgraded laptops and trying to install but the DVD is not readable. How can I get a new DVD or Download Acrobat Pro 1. The product is registered and I have the serial number. PS: Contacting Adobe on this issue is impossible... direct support stinks.

    Download AA 9 Pro from http://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/acrobat-downloads.html. Make a new backup for your archive. You might also take the DVD to your library to see if it is a drive problem. You might also carefully clean the DVD with water and soap (do not use anything that would scratch the surface or you have destroyed it for sure) and see if that solves the problem. This is particularly an issue if you have finger prints or other crud on the DVD. However, it could also be a bad drive as I mentioned. Hopefully the download solves your problem in any case (I would backup the download to CD and/or backup HD).

  • Xerox 7830 fails to obey "Choose paper source by PDF page size" option in Acrobat Pro -- Adobe issue or Xerox issue? Workaround?

    Our former office printer (Xerox 7345) had no problem with this. But the new Xerox 7830 fails to obey the "Choose paper source by PDF page size" option in Acrobat Pro. Even the "Page Setup" is overridden by the Xerox printer driver. It is extremely annoying to have to go into the Xerox driver dialog every time, regardless of that check in the box and the correct dimensions being displayed in the picture.....

    Unfortunately, not only does this not solve the problem with multi-page-size documents, but it's begun happening on files which are all one size as well, where that box isn't even checked.
    It appears that what's happening is the newer versions of Adobe Acrobat don't play nicely with emulated postscript support past a certain date. We're replacing our Canon with a newer model that has actual postscript support, and if that resolves the issue I'll be certain to post confirmation here. Copies of Adobe Acrobat 7 and 8 in our office haven't seen this problem at all; it's simply everyone who has upgraded past that point that can't print reliably.
    More news next week, after we get the new copier.

  • Does Acrobat Pro 9 support "page-break-before" CSS tag? ie Pagination issues

    Hey there
    Converting a whole stack of html files to PDF and having some pagination issues.  Titles not staying with images and tables getting chopped in half by page breaks etc.
    Thought i could solve it by using carefully placed "page-break-before:always" tags where i wanted the page break.  Works as expected in Safari when i go to print but not when i "File:Create PDF: From File" in Acrobat Pro.  They get ignored.
    Here's how they should work:
    http://www.w3.org/TR/CSS21/page.html#x3
    This is a major hassle. I've got over 600 webpages to convert to PDF's and manually entering <br> to force items onto the next page is getting old.
    Here's some sample html, paste it into a file, save, open it in Safari and then go to print.  It should print 7 pages.  Open it in Acrobat Pro 9.1.0 and you get one page.
    <body>
    test0
    <p style="page-break-before: always">
    test
    <p style="page-break-before: always">
    test1
    <p style="page-break-before: always">
    test2
    <p style="page-break-before: always">
    test3
    <p style="page-break-before: always">
    test4
    <p style="page-break-before: always">
    </body>
    The really nice thing is this would be so useful.  You can attach the tag (page-break-before:avoid)  to a Caption style and always be assured that it will stay with a following graphic when you print the webpage. Or use it to make sure a table doesn't get cut in half.

    Nope.  Did the </br> thing.
    Cost me some serious cash.  Very annoying.
    I haven't tried it with Safari 5. Acrobat allowed me set page margins, something that Safari 4 didn't allow (didn't support margin css tags).  But acrobat didn't support the pagination and Safari 4 did.
    Like i said annoying
    I'll see if Safari 5 supports the print margins css tags.
    I'll prob get asked to do this again so would like to sort it out

  • Adobe Acrobat Pro Extended | Print Option | Enable Flash Object Issue

    Hi,
    We are facing some problems with Adobe Acrobat Pro Extended Print Option.
    We had a requirement to embed interactive Flash graphs in the PDF file, user will interact with these graphs and whatever graph he plotted, the data for it will be saved in PDF text field, so that on the next launch we can fetch the data to the flash from PDF text fields, so that user can see what changes he did last time. This works great, we are able to successfully comminicate from PDF to flash and then from Flash to PDF.
    Please note that, PDF can have multiple graphs on different pages.
    The issue we are facing is when we interact with the graphs and then try to print the PDF, in that case only the currently active graph or flash file (The page on which user is currently on) will be seen enabled in the print, the graphs on the other pages, which are not currently visible are seen in disabled state hence the data on it does not get printed.
    We have also used the "RMA.activated = true;" command, still no success. Please refer to the screen shots below to understand the issue in more detail..
    Flash Embed Options:
    In the Print Option, it looks disabled:
    The required/desired output is as follows:
    We want all Graphs to get printed in enabled state and with the data user had entered. Please do let me know, if there is any workaround to achive this functionality.

    Which version. I think it is a minimum of AA9.2 that is needed for X64. Anyway, you should probably either open Acrobat and do the update (help menu) or download all of the updates from Adobe>downloads>updates and install them in order. The current version is AA9.3.4.

  • Acrobat Pro 10.1.1 network issue

    Hi everyone,
    Im having an issue with Acrobat Pro X. About two weeks ago we did a server migration. Since then everyone (about 60 people) have been running into a performance issue with Acrobat X.
    Everyone uses Word 2007 and the office plugin to create PDF documents from within word. Before the server upgrade, clicking on the "Create PDF" button would bring up the save as menu straight away. However now it takes on average 10 to 30 seconds for it to appear (word shows as "not responding" during this time). The same thing happens in Acrobat X when I try to create a PDF from a file. Opening a file locally is fine.
    I discovered that acrobat X is trying to connect to the old server (im not sure why) and this seems to be whats causing the delay. Problem is im not sure how to fix this.
    We are all using Windows 7 x64 (except several laptops that use Win7 x86)
    So far this is what we have tried:
    - Repair Acrobat X – no good.
    - ipconfig /flushdns – no good.
    - ipconfig /release, renew – no good
    - Remove Acrobat X (restart machine) and then install Acrobat X – no good.
    - Remove computer from domain, rejoin domain and then reinstall Acrobat X. – no good.
    So far the only workaround we have found is to save the word document locally, exit out of word then rightclick on the document and "convert to Adobe pdf"
    As this is happening on around 60 machines we dont really want to have to reinstall acrobat or windows to fix this problem.
    Any ideas would be great!

  • Overlapping issues in Acrobat Pro 8

    One of my users is using Acrobat Pro 8. He has been converting webages to .pdf without issue for a week or so. No changes were done to the PC, do changes were done to defaults. He's using the same webpage and the same procedure he has been using but now when he does it? The information on the page overlaps and becomes difficult to read.
    I checked for updates and installed them this morning to see if that would assist with this issue and it did not.
    Any thoughts or suggestions on how to rectify this issue would be greatly appreciate. This is a website that he utilizes on a frequent basis daily and converts to .pdf often.
    Thank you!

    Probably Acrobat and/or the scanning software is running out of resouces. It could be RAM. It could be hard disk space. Doing it in two steps seems like the way to go even if you were to prefer it to be one step.

    Hi Andy ,
    Could you please explain more about the issue .
    What were you trying to do in Acrobat while it stopped ?
    Is there any error message associated or any prompt or warning that you see?
    What OS do you work on ?
    Did it stop for the first time or has it happened before as well ?
    Is it related to some particular sets/pattern of PDF' or happens every time?

  • I can't create PDFs from CS3 programs in Acrobat Pro XI. Compatibility issue or just Acrobat?

    I was just upgraded to Acrobat Pro XI this morning. InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator don't seem to be supported file types for creating a PDF from Acrobat.  While I usually create my PDFs from the authoring program, I occasionally need to make a lot of PDFs of different files at once, and making them from Acrobat makes sense instead of opening each individual file.
    Is this just a compatibility issue? We have requested upgrades to CS6, but it will be a while before it gets approved (if it gets approved).  Did someone think it was a brilliant idea not to allow PDFs from the CS products to be created from Acrobat instead of the authoring program?

    Can you describe your workflow a little more? Are you saying that you created PDFs of InDesign documents using Acrobat directly -- not using InDesign?
    If that was possible in CS3, I must have missed it.
    FWIW, I can't select CS6 InDesign, Illustrator or Photoshop documents in Acrobat X. You can only select a handful of image formats, HTML or PostScript/EPS.

  • Issues with Office 2010 and Acrobat Pro 8

    Good Day All;
    We are in the middle of upgrading from Windows XP to Windows 7 with Office 2010 and I was wondering if there are any issues with importing Office documents into Acrobat Pro 8. I have found out that there are a couple of issue with Office 201 and LifeCycle Designer.
    Any comments would be helpful
    Regards
    Chomp

    Acrobat 8 is not compatible with Microsoft Office 2010 and the PDFMaker plugins will not install. Only Acrobat X is compatible with Office 2010, and at this time only in 32-bit mode.
    Acrobat 8 is also not officially compatible with Windows 7, again Acrobat X is the first version to carry approval for that OS. It will still install, but Adobe cannot guarantee it will operate perfectly in all cases, and doesn't provide install support for that combination.
