Acrobat 7.0 Standard can DOCX be converted to PDF

I am using Adobe Acrobat 7.0 Standard version 7.1.0.  I am unable to create a PDF from a DOCX file (Word 2010).
Is this conversion supported?
Also, I am using Windows 7 Professional, and I don't have the ability to right-click to convert to PDF.  How can I get this back?
thanks in advance.

If you can use AA7 on Win 7, you may be successful. However, you will have to print to the Adobe PDF print. If you were using an earlier version of WORD (2003), then PDF Maker may work. In any case, AcroTray will likely not work. That means you will have to print to the Adobe PDF printer with print-to-file selected. Then open that file in Distiller to complete the process. A bit combersome, but may work. I have done it with AA5 and Win 7 starter -- a bit of a pain and an upgrade is really appropriate. If you have a 64 bit system, you may be totally out of luck.
So, you may be successful in getting AA7 to work in some sense. Do not expect perfection of no errors. Good luck.

  • Acrobat 6.0 Standard can't open my files anymore, why?

Just for no apparent reason I suddenly can't opne a pdf file with my Acrobat 6.0 Standard.  I tried repair, uninstall/reinstall, upgrading to 6.0.6.  Nothing will help.  I keep getting the same messages.  I have attached 3 pics.

Per Bill@VT's advice I uninstalled my Adobe 6.0.1 Standard, deleted the
folders where it had resided, installed and ran CCleaner, rebooted my
system, re-installed Adobe 6.0 and it worked!

  • Why can't I convert my PDF to a Word Document?

I've purchased the necessary/recommended software at 19.99 in order to convert this PDF document into a word document.  The document is large--53.3MB, and yet the stated "limit is 100MB, so it should work.  All of the computer software matches the "troubleshooting" page, and yet when I try to convert, it either goes on indefinitely (I let it go overnight--9+ hours and it still wasn't done!) or after about 5-10 minutes it says "An Unknown Error Occured" and kicks me back to the upload page.  What's going on?

The PDF format by definition does not allow you to make changes to the file. If you happen to have the Pro Version of Adobe's Acrobat software you can start to edit.
One POSSIBLE solution is to see if you can select portions of the document and cut and paste to a WORD document. If you try to select an area and you get the whole form, you are pretty much out of luck.. then you need to go back to Daves suggestion of finding it on another forum that DOES allow for changes.
Also, you may try this tutorial about how to convert PDF files to Word (doc) . Once they're converted, you can open the files Microsoft Word or a compatible word processor.
Hope it can do you a favor.

  • I have a subscription to AdobeExport. Why can't I convert a .pdf to .ppt?

I'm wanting to convert a .pdf to a .ppt. In the file under tools it says I can do that but when I press convert it takes me to Adobe and there is no option to do so. I have an active subscription.

You will need PDF Pack to convert to Powerpoint; see https://new.acrobat.com/en_us/products/pdf-pack/benefits.html

  • Acrobat 10.1.4 Update Causes Excel Convert to PDF Fail

The Acrobat feature which allows a "convert to pdf" option in Excel 2010 (Windows 7) fails to execute properly after the update to 10.1.4.  It chops up a single page width into multiple pages.  I would have been trying to scan tomorrow but have read the other bug reports.  Is there a way to back out this update??  Thanks!

To restore your system to last known good state, try these steps:
    1) Navigate to the Start -> All Programs -> Accessories -> System Tools program group.
    2) Click on the System Restore program icon.
    3) Click Next > on the Restore system files and settings window.
    4) Choose the restore point that you want to use.
    5) Click Next >.
    6) Click Finish on the Confirm your restore point window to begin the System Restore.
Note: Windows 7 will shut down to complete the System Restore so be sure to save any work you might have open in other programs before continuing.
Important: System Restore will not revert any of your non-system files like documents, email, music, etc. to a previous state. These types files are completely unaffected by System Restore. If your intention with this tool was to recover a deleted non-system file, try using a file recovery program instead of System Restore.
    7)     Click Yes to the Once started, System Restore cannot be interrupted. Do you want to continue? dialog box.
    8)     System Restore will now restore Windows 7 to the state that was recorded in the restore point you chose in Step 4.
Note: The System Restore process could take several minutes as you see the "Please wait while your Windows files and settings are being restored" message. Your computer will then reboot as normal when complete.
    9)     Immediately after logging in to Windows 7 after the reboot, you should see a message that System Restore completed successfully.
    10)     Click Close.
    11)     Check to see if whatever Windows 7 problem you were troubleshooting has been corrected by this System Restore.
If the problem still persists, you can repeat the steps above and choose another restore point if one is available.
If this restoration caused a problem, you can always undo this particular System Restore.

  • Why can't I convert a PDF document to Word?

I just recently purchased the Adobe system in order to be able to easily convert PDF documents to Word. After successfully enrolling, I got a side screen that provide the steps to make the conversion. It seemed simple enough although I kept getting error messages and was unable to process the task.  What am I missing?

    Hi Jennifer,
How to convert a PDF file to Word:
Open a file in Acrobat XI.
Choose Tools > Content Editing > Export File to Microsoft Word Document.
Click Settings to turn on optical character recognition (OCR) if your PDF contains scanned text.
Name the Word file and save it in a desired location.
Please let me know if you get any error following the above steps.

  • Acrobat XI Pro - How can I have clients sign pdf docs with stylus on my Tablet PC WITHOUT having to subscribe to signature services like EchoSign?

I was told there was a "Setting" in XI Pro that would allow me to have clients sign pdf documents with a stylus on my Tablet PC (I have a MS Surface Pro 2), without having to sign up for EchoSign or any other electronic signature service. Is that correct? If so, what is the setup or settings?

There are several third party plugins for Adobe Reader and Acrobat on the market, which allow to use the display of a tablet PCs as a capture device for handwritten signatures. Some of those plugins are enabling also the combination with real digital signatures without the need of any previous registration of the signatory.

  • Acrobat 7.0 Standard Random Hangs on scan-to-pdf

Scan to pdf will randomly hang about 3/4 of the way through a multi-page document scan with no error or warning messages.
Acrobat totally hangs (can't even move the window) and I have to kill the process in the task manager at which time a message appears saying "the process is waiting for input from you". There are no dialogs for input displayed.
System: WinXP, scanner is Dell 964 all in one, Acrobat 7.1.0.
I routinely scan multiple pages in the dell utility without problems.
Does anyone have a suggestion how to fix this or provide a method for debugging?
    Thanks.

  • .eps file can not be converted to PDF file?

I am a 1st grade teacher and I sometimes use clip art in papers that I make for the kids. I get most of my clip art from a company called DJ Inkers. When I switched to a Mac recently, I started to install the clip art which is in .eps format. Most of it works, but when I tried to open the file for a couple of the CD's or use it in Pages, a window would pop up and say that the file could not be converted to a PDF file. Normally I would assume there was something wrong with the CD, but it worked fine on my Windows, the CD said it was compatible with Mac, and most of the other CD's worked. Does anyone have any clue why this is, or what I could do to fix it?

Maybe so, but eps is stuck in 1993 also. She did mention Pages, I assumed that was the program she was trying to open them with.
All I can say is, if preview won't work, then use Gimp or shell out some bucks for some adobe product, unless someone comes up with a better suggestion.

  • How can I convert a PDF/A file into a PDF file with Acrobat Pro X?

How can I convert a PDF/A file into a PDF file with Acrobat Pro X? I'd like to modifiy the file which I have only as a PDF/A.

There's two answers if you want to modify the file:
You can temporarily turn off PDF/A Mode in your preferences, so they don't open as read-only. The problem would be if you do something to the file that violated the PDF/A standard, so you should always run a Preflight check afterwards to make sure.
If you want to remove the PDF/A header tag, use Preflight again - it's on the Print Production Panel in Acrobat X Pro (which may be hidden, use the options menu on the Tools Pane to show it). There's a profile called "Remove PDF/A information" - choose this and press Analyze and Fix. Nothing else about the file will be altered but when you save and reopen it all the editing tools will become active.
