Acrobat 9 Deployment with AD / GPO

I'm having some issues deploying Acrobat 9 with Active Directory Group Policy.
The administrative installation point works just fine, the issue I have is with applying the transformation / MST during the installation.
If I great a group policy, and don't specify any modification files, the install completes without error on the workstation.
Obviously, I'd like to use the modifications to enter the product key, etc.
The MST file I'm using was generated using the Customization Wizard 9.
The Application Event Log generates these errors every time the PC is started and the installation is started over.
EVENT ID: 1040
Beginning a Windows Installer transaction: {ac76ba86-1033-0000-7760-000000000004}. Client Process Id: 1120.
EVENT ID: 1013
Product: Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro -- 1118################ error.
EVENT ID: 102
The install of application Adobe Acrobat 9 Professional from policy Install - Adobe Acrobat 9 Professional failed.  The error was : Fatal error during installation.
It's obviously reading the MST file since it's showing the product key in the second error, which is specified in the MST file.
Again, I can perform the automatic installation without error if I don't apply the MST file.

Installation won't be silent if you use MSIEXEC /I C:\A9\AcroPro.msi TRANSFORMS="C:\A9\AcroPro.mst" command even if you have specified the silent option while creating the mst file using the customizations wizard.
The reason is that most of the customizations you do using the customization wizard are saved in the mst file but few (like whether installation would be silent or progress bar or interactive) are stored in the setup.ini file. If you open the setup.ini file then you can see something like "CmdLine= /sAll" . This is the information which tells installer to run silently.
since you are running installer directly from commandline using the msi file so in your case setup.ini is not being read and hence installation is not silent.
NOTE: When setup.exe is run only then setup.ini is read and installation progresses. In case of AIPs there is no setup.exe, so you can not read setup.ini file.
If you want to silently install from an AIP then use /qn switch in the command line. For example-
MSIEXEC /I C:\A9\AcroPro.msi TRANSFORMS="C:\A9\AcroPro.mst" /qn
Now coming on to your original problem which is the actual issue - (When you are using the mst file along with an AIP, why the installation is failing when deploying via GPO !! )
Loking at the error posted by you in the first post it sems that the serial number is not correct.
EVENT ID: 1013
Product: Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro -- 1118################ error.
Try these steps-
1.In your original AcroPro CD there must be a file named "abcpy.ini".
2.Copy this file inside the AIP (C:\A9)
3.Open this file and populate the ISX_SerialNumber field with your product serial number. Example- ISX_SERIALNUMBER=1234-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx (This file might have read only permissions so right click and uncheck 'readonly' box if required )
Save the file
5. Now do what you do usually do for deploying any AIP via GPO.
(These steps would ensure that now serial number is picked from abcpy.ini file rather than the mst file)
Do post your results after running the above test.

  • Acrobat XI deployment with AAMEE

    Hi folks,
AAMEE doesn't recognize the Acrobat XI installer as a valid installer file. I've got a serial specific to Acrobat XI and our company has a VLA for Acrobat; any idea on when/if AAMEE is going to be updated to get it to work with the Acrobat XI installer, or if there's another way to create a pre-serialized package of Acrobat XI?
    Thanks,
    Sohail

Generally AAMEE doesnt support standalone Acrobat installer packaging or deployment. Acrobat can be packaged and deployed using AAMEE only if it is part of some suite (Master collection, DesignWeb Premium etc..). Since Acrobat installer is exe/msi (on win) or pkg (on mac) so that can be deployed without packaging with AAMEE.
If you are trying to package latest release of Adobe Technical Suite (containing Acrobat 11), then that suite is not supported by AAMEE 3.1. That will be supported in AAMEE 4.0.

  • How to edit Printer Connections in GPO created through Print Management's "Deploy with Group Policy"

    Hi there,
I have used the right-click "Deploy with Group Policy" in Print Management on Windows Server 2012 to deploy a printer connection to a GPO.
When you look at the GPO Settings, the Printer Connection is visible under User Configuration -> Policies -> Windows Settings -> Printer Connections -> Path: \ \ printserver\PrinterName.
However, I cannot edit or delete that Printer Connection Path, which would be necessary if I had to rename or delete the printer referenced.  If you Edit the GPO, "Printer Connections" is not available under Windows
Settings, only Scripts, Security Settings, Folder Redirection, and Policy-based QoS.
Is there a way to edit the GPO's Printer Connections that are created with "Deploy with Group Policy"?
    Thanks for your help.

    Hi,
How do you want to edit the printer connection? Do you want to edit the path of printer connection?
Based on my test, we can’t edit the printer connection directly in GPO. We can edit the path of printer connection in printer management.
For detail steps, we can refer to the method Miles Zhang provided in the following link:
    Where is "Printer Connections set"?

  • Acrobat 9 deployment question: error initializing interpreter

I've tried deploying Acrobat 9 silently at (3) client sites with the same result.  In all cases the installation finishes with this error message:
    Error initializing interpreter: Fatal error
Further patches from this point on will fail to patch the Distiller component, though a repair seems to fix it.  Here are the things I have tried to far to no avail.  Does anyone have any ideas?
Deploying with the following command-line options:
    msiexec.exe /i path\to\AcroStan.msi TRANSFORMS=path\to\AcroStan.mst /QB-
    msiexec.exe /i path\to\AcroStan.msi TRANSFORMS=path\to\AcroStan.mst /QB!
    msiexec.exe /i path\to\AcroStan.msi TRANSFORMS=path\to\AcroStan.mst /QR
    msiexec.exe /i path\to\AcroStan.msi TRANSFORMS=path\to\AcroStan.mst /QN
I have tried this while deploying the following versions:
    Acrobat Professional 9.0
    Acrobat Professional 9.1
    Acrobat Professional 9.2
    Acrobat Standard 9.0
    Acrobat Standard 9.3.1
I have tried creating an administrative install point as outlined in the deployment guide, but the result is the same.
I have tried installing manually as a domain administrator and with our software distribution tools.
    I am out of ideas.

Acrobat is deployed by SCCM => error message
Manual installation works => No error message
it seems that the problem comes from SCCM

  • Configuring Adobe Acrobat XI Pro with SharePoint 2013

    Hello,
There are multiple questions whose clarifications are required.
Situation: Users need to open the documents in browser, check-out, edit, add comments/annotations and check-in without using Client Acrobat Reader.
Based on the above situation, please let me know about the following:
    1. Is it mandatory to buy Adobe Acrobat XI Pro license to integrate with SharePoint 2013?
    2. Is Office Web Apps Server 2013 cannot provide the functionality as per situation so that i don't need to buy licenses for Adobe Acrobat XI Pro?
    3. If point no 1 is Yes then what is the procedure of configuring/enabling Adobe Acrobat XI Pro with SharePoint 2013.
    Thanks.
    Sohaib Khan

What are you editing, if the answer is PDFs as a suspect it is then you will need a PDF editor such as Adobe Acrobat on each user's desktop to edit PDFs. OWA isn't a PDF editor as far as i'm aware.
As such you'll need licenses for an editor for each user.
The process for integrating the two is pretty straight forward, you set, either by GPO or individually, the default application for PDFs to be Adobe Acrobat.

  • I cannot use my Acrobat XI downloaded with my one year subscription. It tells me my trial has expired and i need to license it. but I have no serial number.

I cannot use my Acrobat XI downloaded with my one year subscription. It tells me my trial has expired and i need to license it. but I have no serial number.

    Rave,
I have the same problem.  It says trial is expired, so I select the "sign in now" button.  After sign in, it comes up with a place to enter a serial number.  The only two other options are "back" and "next".

  • Java DC not deployed with WebDynPro DC

    Hi,
I've been testing the DC functionality and I'm trying to create the following:
    1) WebDynPro DC (DCA)
    2) Java DC (DCB)
DCB has code for reading data from a database table (three classes, one is set as a public part). This code is functioning ok in another WebDynpro project where I've used it as an external jar file located in the lib directory and added to classpath.
DCA has a small table in the view that I'm filling (or trying to) with data from the database.
DCB has one java class as a Public Part. DCA has this PP defined in the Used DC's (DC Metadata --> DC definition --> Used DC's). I can see the DCB code fine from the DCA's view (I can use the methods from the class).
I see no code errors and everything compiles ok. I've built the DCA and DCB separately (Development Component --> Build) before doing the project build and deployment.
When I deploy, I'm getting java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError for the DCB class (User.class) when the program starts. So it seems that the DCB is not deployed with the DCA. I've tried to look at the properties and java classpath but nothing I've done has helped.
Purpose is set to compilation, and there is a
    <at-build-time/>
    tag in the .dcdef file.
Deployment of normal (no DC) Webdynpro projects works fine and the jars in the lib directory are deployed to the server OK.
Seems like I've tried everything but have found no solution yet. Refreshed every part, re-created everything, re-built, re-deployed etc...
Shortly: how to get DCB to deploy ?
    Any help is appreciated here
    Kind Regards,
    Jari Pakarinen

    Hi,
What is the Java DC for then ? If it cannot be used as a part of another DC (deployable unit) then how should it be used ? What is the use if it does not end up at the server with Webdynpro code ?
The scenario I'm looking for is to include Java classes in a Webdynpro project as a part of the project (not jars done somewhere else, I can do that already) deployed to the server with the Webdynpro.
Thank you for your help, I'm not blaming you or anything
    Regards,
    Jari

  • Cannot open digitally signed PDF's with Acrobat but can with Reader.

My users have PDF files that have been digitally signed by other users.
When opening these files with Adobe Acrobat Pro, it crashes the application.- a generic referenced memory error on some systems, a DDE server error on others, or a font capture error on others - not sure why the discrepancy there.
The files can be opened with Adobe Reader with no error.
We are at Acrobat 9.4.5 and Reader 9.4.5
I have uninstalled and reinstalled Acrobat Pro 9 and verified the same result with Pro 9.0 so it isn't the version or an update.
I have verified this on multiple machines. - I have even installed both pro and reader on one machine and verified that I could open the PDF file with Reader but not Acrobat Pro.
We can open other PDF files with no problem.
I have tried disabling as much of the security options as possible but still get the same result.
If I clear the PDF file fields (including the signatures) in Adobe Reader then it can be opened in Adobe Acrobat Pro.
Does Acrobat Pro authenticate the digital signatures differently than Adobe Reader?
Thank you in advance for your time.

    Hi J.O.S.,
Regarding your question "Does Acrobat Pro authenticate the digital signatures differently than Adobe Reader" the short answer is no.
However, there are other things that Acrobat can do with a file that Reader cannot, so there could be an operation that Acrobat is trying to execute (other than signature validation) which is causing the crash. You don't see it in Reader because Reader doesn't know how to do whatever the offending operation is.
That said, can you send me the file that is crashing Acrobat to [email protected] and I'll see if I can figure out what is amiss.
    Thanks,
    Steve

  • Acrobat Pro 9 with comments crashes

I'm having problems with consistant crashes from acrobat files marked with comments. They are PDF files that have been sent to several users and commented on.
Crashes when InDesign CS4 (6.0.2) is open and go back and forth between InDesign and Acrobat Pro 9 (9.1.2). Got a sense that it is related to the comments list or markings on the page. Below is error note from MacOS auto form (OSX 10.5.7):

  • Acrobat X problem with image scaling in Excel

We are using Acrobat X standard with Excel 2007.
The problem is that when using the Create PDF button on the Acrobat toolbar within Excel, if the document has been scaled using Page Layout-Scale option within Excel, the resulting PDF has the image the correct size, but it has not been scaled. So the dimensions are correct, but only half of the image will be visible.
To see what I mean, in Excel, add a picture, then choose Page Layout-Scaling and set to e.g. 50%. Check the print preview to see how it should look, and make sure you have a real printer selected in File-Print (NOT Adobe PDF printer). Then create PDF using the toolbar button. The image in the PDF will be wrong.
This works fine if using native PDF converter (e.g. Save As PDF file) or by printing to the PDF printer, or by using the CreatePDF button when the Adobe PDF printer is selected as default in the print options.
This seems to be a bug in X as in 9 it worked fine.
Is there a solution to this?
    Thanks

I should add, I updated to 10.1 and it did not resolve the issue.

  • How to use MDS deploying with EAR file

    Hi everybody.
I would to use MDS in my web application in order to use customization across the sessions. I've performed every step to do this on JDeveloper (11.1.1.3.1). I've tested my application deploying directly from JDeveloper using Application menu > Deploy > "myApp" to "myApplicationServer" (in this way I can choose the repository with a window like this: http://i.stack.imgur.com/Kci9c.png). The repository was prevoiusly registered on the server. In this way my application works fine and they all lived happily ever after.
My problem occurs when I perform the deployment with "myApp to EAR" mode. When I try to install my EAR file in weblogic, it reply me with this error message:
An error occurred during activation of changes, please see the log for details.
+:oracle.mds.config.MDSConfigurationException:MDS-01335: namespace "/xliffBundles" mapped to metadata-store-usage "MAR_TargetRepos" but its definition was not found in MDS configuration.+
I've looked for a solution around the web (included this forum) and I think that I should modify something in adf-config.xml file (below).
Which steps I have to perform in order to install my application correctly with an EAR file?

  • Acrobat Reader 9 with an Acrobat 5-8 Created Form?

    Hello,
I am new to my job working with a ASP application that provides a PDF form (created in Acrobat 5) to users with free form fields the user can fill out. Users have been complaining that when the users upgrade to Acrobat Reader 9 the begin to see a message that "Some features are no longer supported..." and the ability to save a local copy of the file is no longer available. I have 2 questions.
Was the ability to save a local copy of a form with user-entered data ever a feature of Acrobat Reader?
Is that an issue that can be corrected by creating the form with the Acrobat 9 Life-Cycle engine or is that a feature that has forever been removed from Acrobat Reader for security or other reasons?
    Thanks in advance!

No I was referring to filled in forms.
So to be clear, the ability to save user filled in information in a form to your local machine as a PDF through Acrobat Reader IS possible, but has to be enabled by opening the form in Acrobat (9 for example) and enabling some feature to allows Reader users to save the information to the PDF file. This feature is limited though and has a 500 use limit per form.
Does that sound correct? Do you know the name of the feature?
    Thanks!

There may be some features that are not supported any more but you may not be using them. That message is just a general warning.
As far as saving the filled in form, Reader on it's own has never been able to do it. You would need the newer version of Acrobat to open and enable these forms so that Reader users can save them. Be warned that this feature is meant for small-time use and has a usage limit of 500 submissions per form. You'll want to read and undestand the EULA before planning on using it.
Or do you mean that they cannot save the unfilled form either?
