Acrobat 9 Pro, colours are messed up in a PDF

When opening up some PDF's the colours are all wrong. This only seems to happen with certain ones though. HOWEVER, if I open the exact same PDF in Acrobat Reader it displays correctly.
See images below:
Incorrect: http://mark.christopher.casey.googlepages.com/weird.png
Correct: http://mark.christopher.casey.googlepages.com/corrected.png
To get the correct colours for all the objects I selected everything (Ctrl+A) then went to the menu: Tools, Advanced Editing, Touchup object tool. Selected the "color" tab and converted it to Adobe RGB (although any colour space corrects this issue, same with rendering intent)
However, here's where it gets interesting. If I tick the "embed profile" tick box all of a sudden the colours are suddenly all over the place again as shown in the incorrect image.
Acrobat 9 Professional was used and the operating system was Windows Vista Business x64.

i have read at least 4 articles and watch 3 videos that do almost the same process i have explained.  the only difference is that they used Word to create their PDF doc.  they had no issues.
so i am wondering if there is something wrong with the Excel PDF process.  i have tried this one 2 different MacBooks with same result.
what does the cell have to have in order for Acrobat to detect it as a form field?
I have a spreadsheet that has over 300 fields that should have been detected.  so yes, i could create them manually, but i am hoping to get this Acrobat to detect them.
I tried the process you did "File=>Create Form".  i got same message.
i built a separate little test process to describe the issue.  see image that is attached.
it is very simple, yet no fields were detected.

  • My PDFs using the new Acrobat Pro DC are blurry and hard to read.

The Acrobat Pro DC shows my PDFs in a strange way and they are very blurry even if I zoom to 100%.  It's like it's very pixelated or something like that.  Is there a setting I change or anything like that?

I can't help with the size but you can keep them from disappearing by checking the option in System Preferences > General > Show Scroll bars:  Always.

  • Acrobat Pro: Layers Panel messed up. How to resize?

    Hi,
I'm using Acrobat 9 Pro. My layers panel doesn't appear normally. As you can see, the visibility icon doesn't line up with the layer, and the boxes are expanded. I can't seem to resize them. I've uninstalled the software and reinstalled. It didn't fix anything. Any ideas?

I have Acrobat Pro 9.5.5, the last release of it. Moving the mouse over the right side of the window does let me reside the pane width, but that isn't what I want to do. I want to resize it vertically to look like the image below, how it's supposed to look.

  • New windows in Acrobat Pro XI are offset

When opening PDFs in Acrobat Pro XI on a Mac, each new window opens slightly offset to the right from the previous window, regardless of whether or not that window is still open. This means that slowly the windows disappear under various tool box windows I leave open on the right of the screen, preflight etc. Then I have to start manually dragging windows back to the left so that I can read the content. Not a big deal you may think but very annoying when you have to do it hundreds of times a day.
Is there any way to make document windows always open in the same place?
    Thank you for your help.

    Hi Dryck,
This is done by design to allow you to see other open files more easily. There's no way to change this functionality at this time. To your question of 'is there any way to make document windows always open in the same place, the only workaround is to click the 'Maximize' button on the title bar.
If you'd like to suggest an alternative to the way multiple PDF files open, our engineering team would love to hear some feedback!  You can fill out our Feature Request form here: http://adobe.ly/WishForm

  • Acrobat Pro collapse after trying to adjust my pdf form created in Indesign 6

I want to change the font type in in pdf form which I created in Indesign, while attempting to do so, Acrobat Pro collapse and shut down....what's the problem?
    Regards,
    Marieke

When you fix it in Acrobat, what you want to do specifically is remove whatever action is present in the button and add a "Submit a form" action to the Mouse Up event. Specify that you want to submit the entire PDF and use the mailto URL you showed earlier, making sure there are no spaces.
For it to work in desktop versions of Reader prior to 11, you need to Reader-enabled the document by selecting: File > Save as Other > Reader Extended PDF > Enable More Tools
The button won't work with the native iOS PDF viewer, but certain other PDF viewers such as Adobe Reader and Readdle's PDF Expert allow you to email a filled-in form and will support the button action.

  • Acrobat Pro 8.1.2 won't create PDFs by itself or within an Office 2007 application. Please help.

Well, needless to say, everything was working fine when our department was running Acrobat 7 and Office 2003. We made the choice a few weeks ago to upgrade to Office 2007 and Acrobat 8. Both are pushed via Group Policy. One other thing to note, as I think it might be an issue, is that our users have their My Documents redirected to a server. I only mention this, because the Default PDF Output Folder within Acrobat 8 is My Documents.
Here are the strange things that we've noticed so far:
    1) When you open up the Adobe PDF Properties within Printers and Faxes, the Location displays an "x" followed by two non-standard box characters that I can't seem to write out here. I've uploaded a screen shot if that makes it easier. On a manually installed copy of Acrobat 8, this location box will say My Documents.
    http://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g223/daedalus42/adobe_weird_characters.png
    2) The Adobe PDF printer port grabs LPT1, even if there is another printer already on that port. This behavior is seen when being pushed via GPO. When it's manually installed via the disc, Adobe PDF gets it's own special port "My Documents\*.pdf" with a description of "Adobe PDF Port". When I try to see if I can add such a port on the GPO pushed computers, it doesn't list it as an option. Here again are two screen shots to show what I'm talking about.
    Weird Port:
    http://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g223/daedalus42/adobe_weird_port.png
    Adobe Port:
    http://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g223/daedalus42/adobe_correct_port.png
Ok, so those are just the oddities seen after performing a GPO installation.
    3) When I right click on a Word 2007 (*.docx) file and choose "Convert to Adobe PDF", it asks me where I want to save the newly created PDF at. It will start converting it, but a few seconds later a balloon error pops up saying that the document failed to print.
    4) When I try to create a PDF via the Word 2007 ribbon add-on for Acrobat, I get the same error.
I decided to bump a standard user up to administrator of the local machine. All these errors go away and they can create PDFs to their heart's content. As soon as I bump them back down to a standard user, new errors arise.
    5) Now when they try to create a PDF, they get prompted TWICE for the PDF Save As location. When I click on Convert to PDF via the context menu of the Word 2007 file, I get the Adobe PDF Status box, then a few seconds later, I get the Save Adobe PDF File As box. I tell it where to save the PDF to. I then get a second box asking me where to save the PDF to, but it's titled different. This new box is "Save PDF File As". Whatever location I choose there, I get an Access Denied error and an Adobe Printer error that the document has failed to print. I've created screen shots of those as well. Here they are in order:
    http://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g223/daedalus42/adobe_access_denied_01.png
    http://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g223/daedalus42/adobe_access_denied_02.png
    http://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g223/daedalus42/adobe_access_denied_03.png
    http://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g223/daedalus42/adobe_access_denied_04.png
Does anyone have any solutions whatsoever to fix this? I'm not about to go around to 100 computers and install Acrobat manually when it should work correctly via GPO. If Acrobat doesn't like the fact that a user My Documents is redirected to the server, I noticed that I can change the default PDF file location within the Adobe Customization Wizard. I've not tested that yet to see if it would even help.
I should mention that I have tried running a repair. Didn't help. Uninstalling and reinstalling via GPO. Didn't help. So, we've installed the Microsoft Office PDF Creator plug-in and that works perfectly. For the time being Acrobat Pro has basically dropped itself down to a reader for all intents and purposes.

@ Bill@VT: I did try adding a port. That's the problem. When it's on a problematic installation, those special Adobe Port aren't available for me to choose from.
OK, I have some new information regarding my issue. I've done some more testing and this is what I have learned and how I arrived at that conclusion.
b It appears to be an issue with the 8.1.2 update.
    1) I manually installed Acrobat 8.0.0 via the executable file I downloaded from Adobe Licensing. I had to go through all the installation prompts, enter the serial key, accept the EULA, etc. I even applied the 8.1.0 update. At this point, everything was fine. Any user on this computer could create PDFs via any method. The Adobe PDF Port was correct and no listed under LPT1 like in the above screen shots. And My Documents was listed as the Default PDF Location, even though users have their My Docs redirected to the server. Like I said, everything worked perfectly.
    2) I decided to install via the Administrative Install Point (AIP) on the server for Acrobat 8.1.2 and the corresponding transform file. After doing this, the problems came back. My first assumption is that the transform file is causing the problem.
    3) To verify that it was in fact the transform file I perform an install from the AIP using the AcroPro.msi file only. No switches and no transform file. Guess what? Problems are still there. So, that wipes out the transform file problem.
    A couple of notes:
It could be related to the AIP and doing administrative installation upgrades to 8.1.2. My next test is to install 8.0.0 from scratch and manually upgrade that installation to 8.1.0, then 8.1.1, then 8.1.2 to find out when and if it breaks.
I was able to get a contact number for Adobe's "Volume Licensing" department, so I might end up giving them a call. In fact, even if I narrow down what appears to be the problem, I'm still going to have to give them a call to find out what can be done about it. Because at the moment, the issue is there for 100+ users and something needs to be fixed. All I'm doing at this point is working backwards to figure out what may have caused the problem in the first place.

  • Reduce File Size in Acrobat Pro (9.5.5) Corrupts Graphics in PDF Documents - shows up as black image

Whenever I use Reduce File Size in Acrobat Pro (9.5.5), sometimes some of the images (not all) get corrupted and show up as a black image in the new document.
Actually, the new reduced document looks okay when viewed in Acrobat, but the problem shows up when viewed in the Preview application on the Mac.
I'm using Acrobat 9.5.5 with Mac OS 10.8.6
I've tried re-importing the graphic into a new graphic box, which didn't work.  Thinking there may be some type of corruption with the actual graphic file, I then tried viewing the graphic, then taking a screenshot of it to create a completely new file, and then re-importing the new graphic file into the original document (created in Adobe In Design 5.0.4).  I then export the new document as a pdf, and brought it into Acrobat Pro to do the Reduce File Size.  Same thing happens - black box appears where the graphic was.
I then tried using the Reduce File Size within the Save As function of the Preview application on the Mac - while the graphic remains intact, many of the other graphics in the document are "reduced" too much, to the point where the image quality is seriously degraded, and therefore not usable.
    Any other ideas?

    Hi Anoop,
I can share the graphic file, but not the pdf which contains it (as it contains confidential information) - thanks!

  • Acrobat Pro XI Mac won't print a .pdf file, but Apple Preview will print correctly

    Hello,
I have Acrobat Pro XI for Mac.  recently I've run into pdf files that will show the document on screen ok, show up on print preview screen ok, but when I send it to a printer I either get:
    1.  no printout... the document passes through the printer queue ok, but nothing comes out (no blank paper, nothing).  no data seems to even reach the printer/print server.  no error.  the print job basically vanishes into thin air like the job was never sent
    2.  prints out with all the characters of a text substituted with squares (again, no error. just prints squares instead of text)
But when I print the same document using Apple's Preview program on the same machine, the file prints out fine.
I experience this problem with two different Macs, with two different OS versions.  Again both machines will print the .pdf file fine using Apple Preview, but not with Acrobat Pro XI.
I've searched for this problem, but no one seems to have this problem. I've tried just printing one page, etc., and no difference (won't print, or print wrong using Acrobat, but prints fine using Preview)
the files are typically sent via e-mail from a vendor, or a web downloaded form (invoice, forms filled out.  some are secure, some are not).  and these are from multiple sources.
Any ideas what might be the problem, and how to fix this?
    system:
Mac Pro (early 2008) and MacBook Pro (mid-2011)
MacOS 10.8.4 and 10.6.8 (multiple computers have this same problem)
    Acrobat Pro XI, 11.0.04
printer: HP LaserJet 5MP (yes.. old.. but it works) via HP JetDirect + print server on  LAN

I just found this solution on another board, I tried it  (I removed the same file listed below) and it worked for me....
Safari won’t save or print PDFs: how to fix

If Safari won’t save or print PDFs (but views them without any problems), you probably have an Adobe PDF plug-in installed. In Safari, go to Help->Installed Plug-ins and do a search for “PDF.” If you have anything with “PDF” in it other than “WebKit built-in PDF,” that is probably the culprit.
On my computer, the problem was “AdobePDFViewerNPAPI.plugin”. To remove it, I quit Safari, did a Spotlight search (Command-Option space) for that file name, and then dragged it to the trash. When I restarted Safari, I could print and save PDFs again. You can also manually find the plugins by going to the system “Library”  folder (the one at the root of your hard disk, not in your user folder) and looking in the “Internet Plug-Ins” folder.
    I’m on OS X 10.8.2, running Safari 6.0.2 (8536.26.17).

  • Acrobat Pro 9: "Merge files into a single pdf" creates blank pages

I have a similar problem as a previous post (which hasn't been answered).
I am able to pdf individual Word documents fine, but when I try to Combine > Merge files into a single pdf, the resulting pdf pages are all blank. I don't receive any error messages or have problems saving the file.
I am using Adobe Acrobat Pro 9 (9.5.1) on Windows 7.
The merging of pdf's hasn't worked at all since I installed the program.
Any help would be much appreciated.

    Hi Bill
Thanks so very much - you have solved the problem.
I tried Document > Insert Pages and that worked.
I then ran the "Repair" feature on Adobe which installed a few updates and I am now also able to merge pdf's by using the "Combine" feature and all the pages show the text/info.
Thanks again for your help, it is very much appreciated.
Thank you also to Apoorv for your assistance.

  • Adobe Acrobat Pro X - Pages options grayed out on PDFs with digital signatures

When we apply a signature to a PDF in Acrobat Pro X, it disables all the options (e.g., rotate, delete, replace, etc.) except for "Extract". This was not an issue with Acrobat v8. Does anyone have a solution to this problem?

That's because all of the operations you mentioned that are disabled, if run, would invalidate the signature. The bug was in version 8 in that we should never allowed the user to modify the signed bytes and break the signature.

You can not do that using Adobe Acrobat 9. Adobe never made a create PDF add-on for Firefox for use with Adobe Acrobat 9. They created a Firefox add-on for use with Acrobat X, but currently that one does not work with Firefox 4 though Adobe are working on an update.
