Acrobat Pro 7.0 form creation, email responses are blank

I created a fill in form for email submission in Adobe Designer 7.0.  Some of the responses are coming back blank and some are coming back with the data.  What is the difference and how can I quickly correct this?
Wendy Sheasley

You should really ask in the Designer forum since that is the product you used to create the form (even if you did not realize it). In that sense I agree with Michael. However, just have the folks send back the form data, not the entire form. This saves a lot on the size of the e-mail and also means you have no limits since it does not have to be saved in the PDF. The data can then be imported into the FORM.
It is typical for folks to start by trying to submit by e-mail. That is dangerous since it depends on the client machine over which you typically have no control. If possible, it is always best to try to submit to a web script.

  • Email Expressions are Blank in Sub-workflow Created for MDG

    Hello Workflow Experts,
I just posted a question in the Master Data Governance discussion area but it is more workflow related than MDG so posting the link here in hopes that someone can help me out.
In summary, I am trying to create a sub-workflow thats sends an email to the creator of a MDG change request, once the change request is approved.
I am having difficulties in two areas.  I am new to SWDD workflows so any advice is greatly appreciated.
    Two issues:
The expressions I am using to display the Change Request Number and the Change Request Description are not returning values to my email – they are blank.
I want to send the email to the person that created the MDG Change Request but I can’t figure out how to determine the creator (i.e., CR Requestor) of the MDG Change Request and ultimately, their email address.  Right now I am testing using my own email address in the workflow Send Mail step.
Here is the full detail of my question, with lots of screen shots, over in the MDG discussion group: http://scn.sap.com/thread/3513244
    Sincere thanks,
    Rob Scofield

    Hi Rob
Yes, you can use CR_CREATOR_NAME...as shown in the screen shot, however make sure it is prefixed by 'US' (that is user) else mail step will go in error:
Also ensure that user has SU01 setup correctly:
Then the system will send the mail :
And will show in SOST (if SO16 settings are done in the system)
    I would suggest:
    1) Creat a WF container element, say CR_CREATOR_LEADING_US, of type SWHACTOR (which is of type OTYPE+OBJID)
    2) Assign  CR_CREATOR_NAME to CR_CREATOR_LEADING_US-OBJID
    3) Assign 'US' to CR_CREATOR_LEADING_US-OTYPE
    4) Use CR_CREATOR_LEADING_US in the mail step as shown above
    regards,
    Modak

  • Can an Acrobat Pro DC fillable form have a submit by email button that works in all browsers?

Last time I attempted to make an online fillable pdf form the submit (to email) button wouldn't work in all browsers.
Has this been addressed in Acrobat Pro DC?
What is the best way to obtain a successful result?

Two issues may affect the ability to successfully receive the PDF submission:
First, the built-in PDF "Viewers" lack the ability to submit PDF form and form data, viewers are not compatible with Live-Cycle XFA PDFs, and they lack Extended Reader Rights proprietary to Adobe Software. End-users will need to disable the default built-in viewer, and enable Adobe Reader as the default PDF viewer on the default browser.
Visit the following website to learn how to enable Adobe Reader:  Acrobat Help | Display PDF in browser | Acrobat, Reader XI
Second, submitting to an email address may not send; because, the default client-side email may not be configured correctly. To bypass client-side email software you can set the submit button action to point an URL of a server-side script, such as PHP or ASP.net. The script can take the submission and send using SMTP account without the need for OUTLOOK or web-mail.
Visit the following website for online server-side script examples:

  • Acrobat Pro: Create PDF Form Export so it's not editable User fills out and info is emailed back to me

I have zero experience with PDF forms. A client needs to have the email addresses changed in an older PDF form, so I've opened it in Acrobat Pro, changed the existing email addresses and am now stuck. How do I save it so it's not editable by the end-user? Everything I've tried (Distribution via email, flattening, security) have not worked; either the form fields get stripped out or I receive nothing via email and I can still open the distributed form and edit the fields.
I need it so the end-user will view the form in their browser
    Fill out the fields
Click submit and the info is sent back to me via email.
If they download the PDF they can NOT edit it.
    Thanks!
    Tim

Open the PDF and do the following:  File> Save As> Reader Extended PDF> Enable Additional Features

  • I have developed a fillable form using Adobe Acrobat Pro. The form has several fields and some of the information is captured in a bar code. What programs must be used to open the form to properly fill the form out?  Adobe Reader, Adobe Xi, Ibook, etc.. I

I have created a fillable form using Adobe Acrobat Pro that contains several data fields with some feeding data to a barcode in the document.  I have a "button" set up to save and send the completed form one it is completed.  Some of the user are having troubles filling out the form as they are using various programs to do such as iBook, Adobe Reader, etc....  Sometimes the information is not transferred to the barcode and sometimes the "submittal button" doesn't function properly.
Please provide a solution or give me a list of the programs that must be used to properly open and fill out the form.
    Greatly appreciated.

Best option is to use Adobe Reader (or Acrobat, of course) on a desktop computer (ie, not on a mobile device). Any other configuration is likely to be problematic.

  • Acrobat Pro - fillable pdf form questions

I have been looking for a solution for a client of mine. I created their website and they were looking for a way for visitors to open a padf registration form from a link on the site that has fillable fields. Once the fields are full the visitor can print the pdf as it must be handed in so do not have to worry about saving electronically.
I did some research and found Acrobat Pro does this and so far I was able to take a copy of the company registration and make text fields out of the areas that need to be manually filled in. I did this and saved the file now I need to know the following.
Past regular registration forms were downloaded from the company website thru a zip file, Can I take the new fillable file and be able a visitor to open, filll it out and then print it?
any help with this as I have a Mac and need to make sure the fillable pdf is accessable on pcs and mac users.
    ralphd

Simply upload the fillable for to the site then provide a link to it.
Whether it opens in the browser and they fill it out there or it downloads to their computer and they fill it out in Reader is up to their preferences.

  • Acrobat Pro XI, Offline Activation Not Accepting Response Code

We have a Win7 PC, licensed for Acrobat Pro XI.  We apparently have exceeded 30day limit.  PC is not allowed to access Internet for Security reasons.  We have gone through the Offline Activation process many time but it does not accept the Response Code.

No, it's not a part of Creative Cloud. It's just a standalone Acrobat Pro XI.
What I meant about "using the mst wrong" was that we run setup.exe, which i guess uses setup.ini. and in setup.ini under [product] "CmdLine=TRANSFORMS="AcroPro.mst" is added (the mst includes the ISX_SERIALNUMBER), but maybe we should try running the AcroPro.msi directly and apply the transform directly in the command line.
I know we could just try this, but it's essential that we are 100% sure that our solution works before sending it out to thousands of users.
I was in contact with someone from Adobe Support earlier who said to run this command: msiexec /i acropro.msi TRANSFORMS=AcroPro.mst /qn and "then you can check in TASK manager , you will see 4 MSiexec processes running."
That was kind of confusing. Exactly which processes they meant and how that proves that the activation was successful, I don't know.
The support guy told me that the only thing needed for the offline activation to work was to add the ISX_SERIALNUMBER to the mst, which we have. But then what does the "Grant Offline Exception" button in the Adobe Customization Wizard XI do? There must be some kind of magic that this button does that i can verify in the mst.
Also, I see the recommendations about posting this in the enterprise deployment forum, and I guess it could've been moved there, but I don't think it would make much difference since this problem remains the same whether it's deployed to lots of users or just one.
Thank you so much for any further help.

  • Acrobat Pro 8 - Fillable Forms

I have adobe acrobat Pro 8.  I work for a real estate company and have made all of our contracts fillable and have uploaded them to our Intranet.  Our agents will fill these forms out and send them to their clients for review.  Is there a way for the agent to fill out the form and then some how save it so that the client is not able to make any changes??

Here are some previous topics where I've discussed this approach in a bit more detail:

Note that neither of these set the default value as I suggested, but that would just be a single additional line of code. If you need someone to set this up for you, feel free to contact me offline.

NONE of your populated variables match the variables you are using in the email body so of couse it can not work. Variables must match exactly and PHP variable names are case sensitive. I'll guess that you mean to do this:

  • Adobe Acrobat Pro 9.4.6 Sticky Note Icons are huge and can not resize

My coworker is having a problem with the size of the Sticky Note (comments) Icon.  It is huge and we can not resize.
When you open the icon, it takes up the whole page.  We can change the Font size, but the actual icon will not resize.
The same document opened up from someone else, the icon views normal. We all have Adobe Acrobat Pro V9.4.6.  Any suggestions on a fix?
    Thank You.

    JimJSC,
Your reply also helped fix a problem I had with not being able to resize sticky notes. My original display resolution meant that the resize symbols in the lower corners of the sticky note weren't accessible. In Acrobat X, the setting is under Acrobat, Preferences, Page Display, Resolution.

  • Acrobat 9 Pro crashing during form creation

Acrobat 9 Pro has crashed on me several times already while trying to create a form.  I'm using a previously created pdf and the form wizard.  While I rename and adjust the fields is when it crashes - 3 times already today.  Any idea what could be causing this?  Has anyone else experienced this recently?  Advice appreciated!!

Are you working with the form in Acrobat or Designer. If Designer, try the LiveCycle forum.
What do you mean by adjusting the fields? What version of AA9 Pro do you have, the current version is 9.3.2?

  • LiveCycle form creation - email submit button

I created a form in LiveCycle with an email submit button.  The button works for myself and another person for whom I was creating the form for.  However, now that I am testing this form with other users the email submit button is not working.  When users click the submit button it clicks blue but no response.  Because it was created in LiveCycle do I need to do something to enbed the functionality into the form.  The steps to follow in the help file have produced no results.
    Thanks

    Paul,
I did that and I didn't get any wizard.  Just a dialog box including instructions to save the file as another name and that is it.
Am I suppose to get something else?
    >>> pguerett <[email protected]> 8/19/2009 9:22 AM >>>
Then that is your issue .....I am guessing that your tests were done on Acrobat right?
To be able to submit a PDF from Reader you must Reader Extend the document. Open the file in Acrobat and under the Advanced/Extend Features for Adobe Reader menu follow the wizard to conclusion. Save the file as a different name (I like to have RE in the name so I know that I have extended it - filename_RE.pdf). Now try it with the new file.

  • Adobe Acrobat 9.0 - PDF form to email

I have created an employment application form that I would like to post on our website and have the applicants email back to us. Is it possible to with Adobe Acrobat 9.0 and the submit button? I have tried this but I think I am missing something.  I have also created this in Lifecycle Designer but found that it will only email xml.  We would like to receive the pdf itself if it is possible.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Christine

The submit process would be more like "maito:name@domain". There are important "features" you need to be aware of.
    1. For Reader users to submit the full form you must activate Reader Rights -- a potential problem if you expect the form use to exceed 500 over the years.
    2. There is no need to submit the full form, but simply import the XML (then you developed the form in Designer and questions should really go to the LiveCycle forum in the future) in to the form on your end. The result will be the same as the full form.
    3. E-mail is not a secure form of submission and included personal data on an e-mail submitted form may land you into some legal trouble eventually. I said may, not will -- but it is something to keep in mind.
    4. E-mail capabilities vary with the client machine and may fail, making you appear as a fool even if it is a client problem.
    5. Compatibility with prior versions of Reader and Acrobat is a good idea, since many folks do not upgrade to the latest version.
In general I would recommend submission to a web script (you will need some IT help there) with the XML format that you simply import to the form. Do not activate Reader Rights and simply allow the client to print the form for their records instead.

  • Incoming email message area blank

On my leopard machine I have one person who sends me email regularly and the message area of the email is blank even tho I know she has sent a message. If I forward that email to myself and download it on my laptop with OSX 10.4.11, the message shows up in the email just fine. She has sent me messages at all of my addresses with the same result. They are all blank on the Leopard machine and show up on the tiger machine. She has changed her font , it's size and it's color and we still have the same result. She is sending from a pc on an AOL account. However, I have other people who send me email from AOL accounts on pc's and I can see them with now problem.
Does anyone have any idea what might be preventing her messages from showing up on Leopard mail?
    Thanks

Thank you for your suggestion. The page on blank email was informative but unfortunately doesn't apply in my case. The email I get from just one person that is blank on my Mac running Leopard is NOT blank when viewed on my mac running Tiger. The text is in the message but is not visible on the Leopard mail program.
But I do appreciate your link.
