Acrobat v 9 pro unable to see review &  comments button

Using standard acrobat 5 SDK we have build an extension plugin for loading annotations when opening a document in IE browser, and similarly on click of save it stores the annotations back. This works fine with acrobat 6.0 pro but in 8 and 9 its not working. In 9.0, we do not see the review & comments when we open the plugin in IE. But we are able to open existing annotations and edit existing comments. We need to know what API changes are done between 6 and 8. If any of the 5.x SDK has been desupported and hwo do we get the comments button comeup in IE.

Hi gmcshave,
I'm sorry to hear you are having issues with your new MacBook Pro; I know printer config issues can be frustrating. It sounds like you have been on the right track in troubleshooting this issue. If you are still having issues adding your wireless printer to your Mac, you may want to double-check the steps outlined in the following article (apologies if you have already done so):
OS X Mavericks: Set up a printer

  • Acrobat Pro 9 SharePoint PDF Review Remote Service Authentication

I am using Adobe Acrobat Pro Extended 9.4.3 (as part of the Technical Communication Suite 2.5). I am hosting PDF reviews on our company SharePoint server. In the past, I haven't had any problems doing this.
However today I cannot connect, and a "Remote Service Authentication" dialog box (see below) appears everytime I try to connect to a PDF review. This is the same for both reviews I have started, or for reviews others have started. Also, I have full permissions for the SharePoint Document Library.
I entered my credentials, then clicked OK. The dialog box just reappears over... and over... and over.
It doesn't seem to matter which program the PDF documents were created with (same dialog for documents generated from MS Word and Framemaker). And a co-worker was able to connect without a problem and enter comments (of course, I can't see his comments since I cannot connect to the server). This leads me to believe that it is a problem on my machine.
    Any ideas?

Yes, I initiated the review. When I initiated the review, I saw a different dialog for entering my username and password. That took my credentials and uploaded the PDF to SharePoint.
I don't remember seeing RSA dialog (see the image I attached to the first post) when I created the review, only when I opened the PDF after the review was generated. At that point, I did select to save the credentials, but it didn't seem to save them (since everytime the dialog appears it is blank).
I had another one of our tech writers test it before sending it to the rest of the team, and he was able to access the review and put in test comments. He never saw the dialog. At that point, I looked at other reviews that I had initiated in the past, and was unable to add comments to those either (at least for the ones that didn't have a deadline). So I am pretty sure it is something that has changed on my system in the last few weeks. Perhaps a Microsoft Security update?

  • Unable to see other writer's checked check boxes in comments of shared review

I'm using Acrobat 3D Version 8 in a Windows XP environment.  We are using SharePoint for shared reviews.
We are able to see developer's comments, and we can respond back to the comments with a reply.  However, when we use the checkbox to indicate that a comment has been addressed, each writer can only see the checkmarks that she makes.  We cannot see checkmarks made by other writers.
We have tried selecting the check box, and we have also used the check box icon to select the check box.  We then publish and the the action is accepted as a comment and is published.  But we are unable to see each other's check boxes.
    Why?
    Thanks!

    Solved on my own.
Simply close BEx Analyzer and restart it again. If still it doesn't work then restart your computer and then run BEx Analyzer again, it will definitely work.

  • Cannot see shared comments in Acrobat Pro Extended

If I use Adobe Reader 10 to look at a shared review PDF, I can see a screen asking me to CONNECT. And when the PDF is open, I can see all the comments with the "Check for new comments" button at the top left side of the PDF file.
Now they installed Acrobat Pro Extended for me the other day. When I open the same review PDF in Pro Extended, I do not see the CONNECT screen, and I do not see any comments. What's wrong with Pro Extended? Why is it not working? Any help will be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Brian

Ok. Perhaps the option 'Check for updates' has been blocked by your IT department. Ask them to get the patch for you if you dont find an option.
As far as seeing the comments in the review is concerned, if it is a review file, you should be getting a yellow bar when you open it in Acrobat/Reader. If you dont see it on opening the review file, or you dont get the Connect/Welcome dialogs, probably it is no longer a shared review file. Try with some other review files and see if you can get it working.

One thing that you can try is installing a 'fresh' version of OS X Lion. Boot into your Recovery partition (holding down the command and R keys whilst booting) and elect to install OS X from the Recovery screen. You need not erase your hard drive and you should not lose any of your data.
Oh, and just as a precaution, I would use Disk Utility, once you're in Recovery mode, to verify your hard drive before trying to install the OS again.

  • Acrobat 10 Pro: Unable to Install Updates After Virus Removed: Receive Error 1310 ?

Acrobat 10 Pro: Unable to Install Updates After Virus Removed: Receive Error 1310 ?
Attempted to re-install the original Adobe Acrobat 10 Pro from the disk provided with the purchase; and it has put me in a trial; and is requesting that I purchase the software I already paid for, two years ago.

You can try a repair (may need to go to Control Panel>Programs & Features). A reinstall is a last resort, but if you go there be sure to uninstall from the control panel, run http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/acrobatcleaner.html, and remove any part left of the Acrobat folder. Then reboot as the administrator and reinstall. Be sure to disable antivirus during the install.

  • Extend/modify deadline in Acrobat Pro 8 shared document review

Is it possible to extend or modify the deadline for an Acrobat Pro 8 shared document review?

    Christian,
No it's not possible to extend/modify the deadline in Acrobat 8 shared reveiws. These features have beed added in Acrobat 9. In Acrobat 8, the reviewers can add comments even after the deadline has expired. The review file can however be checked out of the review by saving a copy of the file using the 'save an archive copy' option under file menu(File> Save as archive copy), when the reveiw process is complete.
    Thanks,
    Richa

    Back up all data.
I've tested these instructions only with the Safari web browser. If you use another browser, they may not work as described.
Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
    defaults delete -g NSFullScreenDarkMenu
Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C.
Launch the Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Paste into the Terminal window by pressing the key combination command-V.
Wait for a new line ending in a dollar sign (“$”) to appear. You can then quit Terminal. Log out and log back in.

  • I am running acrobat 7.0 pro - my hdd recently crashed without warning - i am now unable to re-activate my acrobat 7.0 pro - help please...thanks in advance.

Hello - I am trying to re-activate my acrobat 7.0 pro on my new hdd after my old hdd crashed. Can anyone help: thanks in advance ...russ22

    Hi russ22,
There's a lot of that going around lately (hard drive crashes). Sorry to hear that!
It sounds like you've reached the maximum activations allowed, and because your hard drive crashed, of course you can't deactivate the copy that was installed there. But don't worry--Customer Care should be able to take care of that deactivation for you. Please Contact Customer Care.

  • Problems publishing shared review comments in Acrobat 8.0

I created a shared review in Acrobat 8.0 and posted it to a Sharepoint workspace. A reviewer published comments but I was not able to see them. He double-checked, and he was able to see his comments but I was still unable to see them. He checked again, and was not able to see his comments.
I can see comments the reviewer published on a different date, but the reviewer is no longer able to see those comments either. Has anyone had a similar experience?

I'm having a similar problem and didn't see a solution posted.
I'm using Acrobat 8 Professional to do shared document reviews.  I created a sharepoint shared documents folder which the shared document review process verified and accepted as a destination.
I used the Review and Comment process to save the pdf document to the folder (enabling those using Reader to review and comment) and send an email inviting specific individuals to review and comment.
The problem is when they open the document (using the URL in the email) they don't see the "toolbar" that lets them Publish Comments to Server.  They all have Reader 9.
Until I figure out what the problem is, I'm using a brute force technique to force publishing comments, instructing them to close the browser and then Publish Comments using the dialog box that appears after the browser has closed.
Any suggestions how to get the toolbar that lets them look for published comments and publish their comments to display ?

  • Testing plugin in Adobe Acrobat 9.0 Pro

    Hi,
I am trying to use Adobe Acrobat 9.0 Pro to test a plug-in I have created.
I have previous loaded and tested this plug-in in Adobe Acrobat 9.0 Pro Extended and it works.
Is there something I need to do to load this plug-in in Acrobat 9.0 Pro?
    Thanks,
    Jesse Perry

    Bernd,
I have a test box with Adobe Acrobat 9.0 Pro Extended installed which I have used for testing with this plug-in for 3 months. I developed this code using Visual Studio 2005. The plug-in works on this system. I loaded Adobe Acrobat 9.0 Pro on another test machine and copied the same plugin to the plug_ins directory of this machine from the Pro Extended plug_ins directory on the previous machine. When I start Acrobat 9.0 Pro, I don't see the menu that I created for the plug-in as I do on the original test machine.
Is it wrong to test it on a different machine from where it was compiled?

  • Mac User Cannot Use Form Created in Windows Acrobat 9.0 Pro

I have created a form and emailed it to a Mac user.  He does not know what version of Acrobat he has or even if he is using a full version of Acrobat or Acrobat Reader (I tried to walk him through to check his version, but he could not find it).
He is using a laptop that is about 5 years old.
Anyway....I created this form in Acrobat 9.0 Pro.  It works great for me...when I type in the fields, the text falls perfectly on the lines; the autocalculate works perfectly, and the RESET button works perfectly.  When he opens the file, the text shows all below the lines, the autocalculate does not work at all, and neither does the RESET button.  He sent it to another person, and they too could not use the form.
I have enabled the PDF so it can be filled out by Reader users and it is not in PDF/A mode, but it still is not working for him.  I went to the library where they have a Mac and I was able to open it through Acrobat Reader 9 and again, I was able to fill the form out and it worked perfectly for me.
Would anyone be available (with a Mac) through email so I could send you the file to see if any Acrobat pros might be able to tell me what is wrong with it?  I am absolutely frustrated to the points of tears over this.  If you do not want to place your email here, I will give you mine so you can email me first ([email protected]); just let me know here that you are emailing me so I know to check email rather than check here.
    Thank you!
    Laura

He's probably not using either Acrobat or Reader. The Mac comes with a built-in PDF viewer named Preview and it has limited support for PDF forms. It even corrupts them when it saves. It should definitely be avoided. Fortunately Reader is freely available, you just have to get him to install it.

  • Adobe Acrobat 9.0 Pro crashes at start up: Runtime Error-please help

I have Adobe CS4 installed on my Windows 7 PC. In addition, I have Adobe Reader XI and InDesign 6 installed. If I remember correctly, after I installed Adobe Reader XI, I uninstalled the version of the Reader which came with CS4.
So here’s my problem: When I try to download a PDF that has been sent to me in an email or open one that already exists on my computer, this happens:
    Runtime Error!
    Program: C…
The application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way.
When I click OK, I get this:
Adobe Acrobat 9.0 has stopped working.
If I try to Adobe Acrobat 9.0 Pro from my start menu, the same thing happens.
This makes no sense to me because
I don’t have the knowledge to figure this out. I have no idea what Runtime is.
Prior to a computer meltdown a couple of months ago and a complete reinstallation of everything, these very same programs all worked just fine.
I don’t understand why, when I try to open an emailed PDF, they don’t automatically open in Adobe Reader XI rather than Adobe Acrobat. Isn’t the general idea that people be able to open and view sent PDFs which they have been sent, which is what the Reader is for, and not usually edit them, which is what Adobe Acrobat is for?
If, instead of trying to open the emailed PDFs, I save them to my computer, I can launch Adobe Reader XI and open them from within that program without any problem. That’s OK if I just need to view the PDF, but I need to be able to edit PDFs too, so I must get Adobe Acrobat 9.0 to work.
Would reinstalling Adobe Acrobat 9.0 Pro help? Is there a way to reinstall that program only from the installation disks or would have to reinstall CS4 entirely?
I cannot open Adobe Acrobat 9.0 at all, so any solutions which must be done with the program open are not possible.
I would really appreciate some help.

    SOLVED!
Resetting Internet Explorer didn't work, Reinstalling Acrobat 9.0 Pro didn't work, but changing a registry key did.
Here's where I found the solution:
Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library error opening PDF files - Microsoft Community
Here is the relevant post, but before you try it, read my note below:
    Hi,
This is known issue with Acrobat for several versions now, Adobe's current fix is just to update their software: http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/404/kb404597.html
The problem is with the application data being misdirected.
"The affected user has a redirected Application Data folder and as a result the network path containing the Application Data uses a UNC path that begins with \\. This UNC path causes Acrobat 9.0 or Adobe Reader 9.0 to incorrectly parse the Application Data path and give the error message."
A potential Solution would be to go into the registry. Left Click type "regedit" and right click and run the program with "run as administrator". Go to Hkey_Current_User\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Current Version\Explorer\User Shell Folders and make sure see where "AppData" is pointing. If it is pointing to "%UserProfile%/Application Data" change it to point to "%UserProfile%/AppData/Roaming".
BUT, be careful about one thing: This poster seems to have accidentally used forward slashes when he should have use back slashes. Look at the very last line of his post where he advises "If it is pointing to "%UserProfile%/Application Data" change it to point to "%UserProfile%/AppData/Roaming". You'll find, or at least I did, that this key has a back slash, not a forward slash, so changing what I found: "%UserProfile%\Application Data" to "%UserProfile%\AppData\Roaming" worked and now Acrobat 9.0 works fine.
