Acrobat XI annots.api error

I've been running Acrobat XI Standard for a few months. Just today it started giving me an error on startup of the plug_ins\Annots.api is either not designed to run on Windows or it contains an error.
How can I fix this please?
Thanks.

Thank you for that suggestion. I did not know about the REPAIR option.
I ended fixing the problem with the latest update. I had to download it manually, even though I had the options set to automatically update and assumed I had the latest update.
Best regards.

  • Handling 3d objects using JavaScript for Acrobat 3D Annotations API

I am trying to learn how to handle 3d objects with this manual: http://www.adobe.com/content/dam/Adobe/en/devnet/acrobat/pdfs/js_3d_api_reference.pdf
When I execute some code, for example,
    myTimeHandler= new TimeEventHandler();
    myTimeHandler.onEvent= function( event )
    console.print( "Current simulation time is:" + event.time );
    console.print( " second(s)" );
    runtime.addEventHandler( myTimeHandler );
I get an error like this:
    TimeEventHandler is not defined
    Why?
P.S. I have 3d object in the document, and can get it with function getAnnots3D.

You have to run the code in the context of the 3D annotation (by attaching the script to the annotation's properties panel, or by right-clicking the active 3D scene and choosing "run a javascript". You cannot run it in the console.

  • Adober Reader 9.0: annots.api Crashes

I tried deploying Adobe Reader 9.0 to several campus computer labs I manage. I am using roaming user profiles, but I don't have AppData redirected - it stays on the local hard drive.
I discovered that while Reader 9 works OK for Administrators, it crashes at startup for people with just regular "User"-level privileges. This problem goes away if I remove the annots.api plugin file. Has anybody else seen this issue? I've gone back to Reader 8.1.2 in the meantime.
    Thanks for your help.

  • "Save as..." hang on long PDF with annots.api plugin enabled

    Hi,
I am not a regular Acrobat user but I have been attempting to use it recently to process some fairly long PDF files with up to 20K pages which weigh in at 50MB.  I thought I'd share something interesting I have discovered with the community.
What I found is that the larger the file (not sure whether it is the number of pages, number of bytes or something else) the longer it takes for the "Save as..." dialog box to appear.  Then, when the filename has been chosen (just saving as a normal PDF) the amount of time before the progress bar appears also seems to get longer for longer files.
In fact while the save as box is getting ready and while the progress bar is not yet showing, Adobe Acrobat seems to hang and stop responding.  We found that disabling plugins entirely (by shift clicking to open the document) eliminated entirely even for large documents.  We then narrowed it down to a specific plugin called annots.api.
My questions for the community are:
Is this a known issue with annots.api?
    What does annots.api actually do?
This seems to be the same for Adobe Reader X (Windows 2012), Adobe Acrobat X (Windows XP), Adobe Reader 11 (Windows 7), Adobe Acrobat XI (Windows 8) and Adobe Acrobat (Windows XI).
    Thanks,
    James
P.S. If somebody from Adobe want help to recreate the issue, I can provide some sample PDF files that clearly illustrate the issue and snow a possible polynomial performance curve.

i do not have a .mac account. i checked my preferences on that point and confirmed there is no effort to sync with iDisk.
i am only user (account) on this eMac. So i do not have a basis for compaing other users. i may set up a dummy account (other dummy?) to test this theory.
i checked my energy saver prefs. i had computer and display set to Never sleep. i had the box checked to put disk to sleep when possible. i have now unchecked that box.
i also have just downloaded update to 10.4.4. so, i will try that.
any other ideas, most appreciated. i am especially interested to know if there is software to look for possible virus infection that might cause this. since it happens randomly, i suspect it might be some bug (not sure if that is logical analysis on my part)

  • "Invalid Annotation Object" error

I'm using Windows XP Pro (SP3) on a 2.66 GHz, 2 GB RAM computer, and while working in an Adobe Acrobat 9 document, I had just saved the file (CTRL+S) and the document froze and I got a Windows error box that asked if I wanted to send an error report, which I did. When I opened Adobe again, it asked if I wanted to open the last file which didn't save correctly, which I did.
Then when I proceeded to work in the document and tried to highlight a sentence I was going to delete, I got an Adobe Acrobat popup box that said "Invalid Annotation Object. OK" but no matter how many times I clicked on "OK," the box kept popping up and wouldn't go away. I tried saving a copy of the document, but the same box was in it and wouldn't go away. I couldn't even work in the document to extract pages or anything else. Huge problem!
Does anyone know what can I do to resolve this problem? (This happened on a Saturday when Adobe phone support is not accessible.)

On 3/24/2015 same problems, after Adobe Acrobat 9 pro. crashed while I added text boxes.. When I opened Adobe again, Yes to open the last file which didn't save correctly, then "Invalid Annotation Object" errors on my .pdf file of 96 pages
    - first, I had to acknowledge/click the OK button until all " invalid annotation objects" error pop-up windows are gone
(for my file with 96 pages, i had to hit the OK button more than hundreds times - need patience)
    - then found out (later) that what I did turn out to be the same steps as following post by davidsdomingo in adobe.forums

Here is a technique for identifying all the pages that have invalid annotation objects on them:
    1. Document > Extract Pages ...
•Select the checkbox for "Extract Pages As Separate Files"
•Set the destination to a 'dedicated' folder that won't contain any other files -- that way, you can simply delete the folder when this process is done.
    •Click OK.
    2. During the extraction, click OK in all the message boxes that appear.
    3. After the extraction, look in the destination folder to see which pages are missing. Those are the pages that have invalid annotation objects.
From this point you can try to delete the objects, or simply delete and replace the pages, or implement a different solution. Hope this helps someone.
    - after extract the 96-pages file into individual files into a dedicated folder, only 95 got extracted and page 1 was not/can not be extracted.
    - I then combined the 95 good extracted pages into a new file name .pdf
    - then inserted a good page 1 without error (from the file that was saved previous day, prior to all the changes I made on the corrupted file), re work on page 1
    - delete the bad file.
    Hope this helps someone.

  • Adobe "Invalid annotation object" error

We recieve a specific error message on a few PDFs. Some from documents converted from 2007 Word and others out of Outlook 2007 through the PDF print function.  While moving the mouse over certain comments the users has placed on the document in the PDF format, Acrobat 9.9.3 throws this error. We've tried to delete the bad refs and other times have just started a new document, print to PDF while starting over.  Any ideas on why this is happining, what might be causing this and what we can do to reslove this problem.  I cannot seem to duplicate the problem a few see.  Any thoughts or solutions would be greatly appreciated. • Adobe Reader hangs with Annots.api

when running my application with Adobe Reader, which will sign on PDF document. Sometimes it will hang with error below:
    Can anybody help on this?

The drivers are up to date.
I've just realised (doh!) that the printer isn't actually on the network, but has a direct USB connection to the w/station.
The problem is only with Adobe reader, just the first print of the day from Adobe. If the first print of the day is from Word that prints OK, but if the second is from Adobe it still hangs (becasue it's the first rpint from Reader). At first I thought Reader was trawling across the internet for some reason, maybe checking in with Adobe.
I'm baffled. I've tried uinstalling and reinstalling Reader as well!

  • DI API error while adding AP Invoice (Using serial Nos.)

    Hi,
Im getting the following DI API error when adding an AP Invoice which has serial numbers and i cant seem to find any logical fault in the code.
" [PCH1.WhsCode][line: 4] , 'This entry already exists in the following tables (ODBC -2035) "
If anybody has encountered this error and found a solution kindly let me know.

    Hi Vivek,
Are you trying to add same document number, serial number or so on?
"entry exist " means like "duplicate key problem", I guess.
Basically, whscode column in PCH1 table allows duplicating.
So, I think serial number is duplicated among same item code.
    Hope this useful for you.
    Regards,
    Hyunil Choi.

  • Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro Reinstallation Errors

My hard drive crashed on my computer (replaced with new one) and I had to reinstall my Adobe CS5 and Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro. All of CS5 reinstalled fine. However, everytime I reinstall Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro, it errors every time. It will install, but whenever you open the program, it immediately stops working and errors out saying Adobe Acrobat 9.3 stopped working. Windows cannot find a solution and then closes.
It never gives me the chance to enter my product key or register the product. I went to the Adobe Product page and tried downloading and installing all the updates, but nothing works. No matter what I do it closes right away. Any ideas?
My PC is on Windows 7 - I had to initially install Acrobat on this PC when I got it a year or so ago and it worked fine. Not sure what's changed.
    Thanks.

I just tried reinstalling it - again, it wasnt giving me the option to register it or anything. Would close the minute I opened Acrobat.
So I opened the Acrobat Distiller that installed with Acrobat and that asked me to accept the agreement and register the product. Once I did that - Acrobat started working again!

  • Adobe Acrobat 8 Stand.  Errors

Hi, I'm trying to troubleshoot a problem with Adobe 8 Standard in my company.
I have a user who is running Adobe Acrobat 8 Standard and the are trying to merge 3 documents together. I go into 8 Standard, "Merge Files" and then select the files. Once I do this and click "convert/next" it goes to the screen where it is about to convert, it starts to go, and then just as its opening up the document it says "Error (skipped)" then I get a pop up msg that says Unable to open document: filepath, Please chekc ot see if you have the read permission for the above files. It does this for all the files, then i get another msg that says "No PDF was created because Acrobat encountered an unidentified error."
I then notice that Word is still running in the background with 3x WINWORD.EXE processes but there are no Word windows open. It's opening up the files during the conversion process but it's not successfully getting there. Thing is, when I restarted and logged in under my own profile (not the problem user's profile) it worked just fine.
The user cannot combine files or create PDF's going through the Adobe Acrobat 8 Standard program. I open up word and then open the file and use the AdobePDF menu and I can convert 1 of the files but then when I try to convert the other two, Word gets an error and that it encountered a problem and needs to shut down and I looked at the info on the error report and it did say WINWORD.EXE.
I am wondering, is there a solution for this? I cannot seem to find it, either that or I'm blind. I'm going to re-installing it tomorrow morning when I get in and I think I am going to repair Office while I'm at it, as I didn't have time to do it today. Let me know if there is anything else I can try.
    Thanks.

    Anyone have any ideas?

  • Acrobat has encountered an error while playing this media clip

    Hi,
I have downloaded a pdf file from the web which has embedded audio in it.
When I try to play the audio, the following message comes up “Acrobat has encountered an error while playing this media clip. Adobe’s Windows build-in player cannot play this format as the required decoder is not installed on the system.”.
I can attach the file, if the problem can be resolved.  If you need more information, kindly advise?
    Can you kindly assist?

That means it's a PDF containing "legacy media", which requires external software to play it. Unfortunately the audio itself could use any type of encoding, and the error tells you that whatever it is, your default media player (WMP) doesn't understand it. Rather annoyingly, when running in embedded mode WMP doesn't tell you what codec it's having problem with. It's one reason why this feature has been removed from the latest version of Acrobat.

  • On closing Acrobat Windows detect an error "Data Execution Prevention has closed Adobe Acrobat".

    Hi,
I developed a plugin which captures Before/After open, close and save events and perform some operation inside these events.
I tested the plugin in Windows XP and Acrobat 9.0.0 and 10.0.0 and everything works fine. But when in test my plugin on Windows Server 2008 Standard 32 bits, then windows detect an error while closing the acrobat and shows the following message:
"Data Execution Prevention has closed Adobe Acrobat"
I am using Acrobat 10.0.0 for testing in Windows Server 2008 operating system. Also, debugging the program shows no error but plugin does not produce the desired result when tested on Windows Server 2008 Standard 32 bits operating system.
Can anyone please giude me how to resolve this issue??
    Thanks in advance!

Are you really using 10.0.0?  You've installed no updates to it??
