Across/down

Hello
i changed the print direction to across/down in my report and also changed the horizontal elasticity to variable
but no effect on the report when i run it
please where is the problem ? is there exist another property to changed in repeating frame or not?
note i am using group above
thanks

Headers should not be within the repeating frame. Create a separate regular header frame with as many Name and Number labels as many records fit across the page.

  • Do Not Expand on Drill Across/Down

    Hi All,
I am having Two Restricted KeyFigures Called Short Term and Long Term. The Short term is restricted with Fiscal Month(Say  X) for a range of one year and the Long term is restricted with the same variable but Greater than Or Equal X. So the Long term contains lots of Data as the infocube has the future data also.
Now the problem is when I do a Drill Across/Down on Fiscal Month the result exceeds the Microsoft Excel Limitations(Colunms 255).
Is there any way that  Restricted KeyFigure ' Long term' should not expand when i do a drill across/down.that is how can i disable the drill across function on the Long Term Restricted key figure.
Your ideas will be appriciated with points.
    Thanks

    Hi,
    Try this:
Take a Virtual hierarchy on Fiscal year/period characterstic (which you have taken in the free characterstic area). So it will avoid display of all Individual values at a time. User can drill down on the hierarchy , if he want to do it. That also, will alow to drill down for a specific year and not at a time all.

  • How to indent the 2nd rown in an Across/Down repeating frame

    Hi Everyone,
Lets say I've a column which is storing alphabets as shown below:
    col
    A
    B
    C
    D
    E
    F
Now I want to print these in a report as shown below...
    A B C
    D E F
Basically I am using a repeating frame which is set as 'across/down' and I want the second or every new row to be slightly indented towards the right. Has anyone does this before? Let me know if anyone has any pointers.
    Thanks in advance.

Sorry, in the above post somehow I lost the indentation for the second row of 'D E F' which I wanted to show. Seems this window doesn't support it too :).
Jokes apart....please let me know if we can perform any indentation in an 'across/down' repeating frame for the second or subsequent rows.

  • Across/down for header and data

    Hi,
I need to display the data as below..

I am able to repeat the data using across/down property in repeating frame. But unable to repeat the headers across the page.

  • How to populate a page with images in across/down direction?

    Hi,
Does anyone know how to populate a page with images in across and down direction (for example 6 X 6 )? It seems that I cannot use data table because records are only running downward and each row can have one record.
Any suggestion would be appreciated. thanks.

    Alex,
You can create your own tabular form using APEX_ITEM API's
Create report and you can put similar code to following
SELECT APEX_ITEM.TEXT(1,col1) pk1, APEX_ITEM.TEXT(2,col2) pk2 FROM your_tableSo data will be displayed in TEXT boxes as if it's a tabular form. Now you need to handle INSERT/UPDATE/DELETE processes manually. You can easily handle INSERT and DELETE. But handling UPDATE can be a nightmare. What if user has updated both the column values?
    Updated details
One way out would be to use ROWID as Primary key to handle DELETE and UPDATE
SELECT APEX_ITEM.CHECKBOX(1,ROWID) tick, APEX_ITEM.TEXT(2,col1) pk1, APEX_ITEM.TEXT(3,col2) pk2 FROM your_tablebut yet I suggest to go for proper primary key..

  • Need a way to space photos evenly across & down PSE7

I have about 35 photos I would like to space them evenly, sort of, 7 across and 5 down. I want the spaces in between evenly and tops evenly lined up, sort of like a chart. Any suggestions to do it easily? Any tutorials on this?
I selected the top row and used the align, but it didn't seem to work,. and if using that, which to I choose?
    thank you.

Thanks, I sort of did that, but was wondering if there was a way to select all the photos
(each in it's own layer) and ask PSE7 to space them all evenly on the background.
I do appreciate your answer, because I didn't know you can change the grid sizes in the preferences but did do the other grid and snap to before, so I did know that. I guess I'm lazy and want PSE to do it for me.
I have PS6 and CS3 too, so if there is a way to do it there, I can do that too.
thanks for any info on how to do this.

  • Footer for a report with 2 repeating frames with down/across print directio

I have a report with a frame for title shown in first page. the content of the report is shown on two columns in a repeating frame(R2) which enclose an other repeating frame (R1). In R2, just after R1, I have a frame for totals. Both repeating frame have down/across print direction. All repeating frames and title frame are enclosed by a regular frame(let say frame A) that have vertical elasticity fixed. at the end of the report i must display an other frame(frame B) with signatures. I put frame B in frame A, just after R2. If I set vertical elasticity to fixed or contract for R2, when the title frame is missing i get an empty space in the bottom of the page(except the first page, where the title appear)(R2 is anchored to title frame). if I set vertical elasticity to variable for R2, the frame B is not shown on last page with records, but in next page. I need a solution to keep the frame B in last page of the report which have records. the problem appear only when I have records in second column.
    Can somebody help me, please?

    Hi,
I think without using Across/Down instead of Down/Across this is not possible. But then the output is
    1 2 3 4
    5 6 7 8
    If you need to have
    1 3 5 7
    2 4 6 8
then you had to add some logic in an additional column for sorting the output. (sounds easy, but the logic need some work depending the count of records and their position.

  • Column displays going down. Need it to go across and group together.

I have an Oracle report I've created and I'm trying to get certain columns of data to display only for the first row and grouped together going horizontally. It's hard for me to explain in words what I need to be done. I could email some screen shots explaining if someone is willing to help me. Thanks in advance!

What about using the report functionality itself?
Create the report as Group Left vendor wise and for the Repeating Frams of field Class_Code set the Print Direction to Across/Down and the Horizontal Elasticity to Variable and for all the Parent Frames same. Then it should work as expected.
Or keep the report tabular and use the formula column as below...
    DECLARE
      CURSOR Fetch_Codes IS
      SELECT class_code
      FROM table_name
      WHERE vendor = :vendor;
      vClsCodes table_name.class_code%TYPE;
    BEGIN
      FOR Get_Codes IN Fetch_codes LOOP
       vClsCodes:=vClsCodes||Get_Codes.class_code||', ';
      END LOOP;
      RETURN vClsCodes;
END;In the layout editor use this formula column as source of class codes.

  • Delimited output of report that contains frames with Print Direction = 'Across'

    Hello all.
On the header section of my report, I have a frame with Print Direction = 'Across'.
On screen the output is :
    Value1 Value2 Value3 Value 4
I want to export this report to excel, by using DELIMITED option. However the output I'm getting is :
    Value1
    Value2
    Value3
    Value4
e.g., reports is not generating several columns (one for each field), but separate lines.
Anyone knows how to accomplish delimited output of frames with Print Direction='Across' ?
    Thanks in Advance,
    Octavio

If you're not generating both bitmap and delimited data from the same report, try using character mode output rather than "delimited". You can create the report to generate the appropriately delimited values to a text file. This will also give you greater control over aspects such as headings.
Delimited output simply uses the structure of the layout. It doesn't take into account the across/down repeat directions except in the case of matrix.

  • Crystal Report multiple columns

I'm having trouble with Crystal Report's multiple columns in the detail section.
The details section, the multiple columns is checked then the printing direction is across - down. Since the form I am using is a pre-printed form, by estimation it can only allow at best 30 records in one page, that is 15 in the 1st half of the column and another 15 records on the next. For visual:
Invoice No    Invoice Date        invoice total                                               Invoice No    Invoice Date        invoice total
    1                                                                                16
    2                                                                                17
    3                                                                                .
    .                                                                                28
    14                                                                                29
    15                                                                                30
For some reason there is this giant space after the last set of rows before it prints out the page footer. This giant blank section disrupts the layout of the page footer section.
Here are some info on the details section as configuration is involved:
Format with  Multiple Columns - checked
In Paging: New Page after 30 visible Records
In Layout: Width: 3.5 in       Height: 0.0 in
Horizontal: 0.0 in      Vertical: 0.0 in
    Printing Direction: Across-Down
Anyone knows how to suppress it or have the page footer move upwards?

Now why didn't I try that out. Actually, initial plan was 2 subreports.
So when I added the second subreport in the group footer section, it only prints the details on the last page, which should not be the case as I need to be printed on all pages.
I'll test it out. I'll post an update soon.
    Thanks.

  • How do you get a line with MULTIPLE fields to WRAP ?

How do you get a line with MULTIPLE fields to WRAP ?
    Good afternoon everyone...
THE PROBLEM: Why doesn’t a line with multiple fields WRAP?
HYPOTHETICAL EXAMPLE/WHAT I”D LIKE TO SEE
If I have 2 fields on a line (this is now a hypothetical example and nothing to do with my actual report)….let’s call them field A and field B. And if field A has values of all ‘X’ and field B has values of all ‘Y’…then….the normal case would be (ignore dots – only for spacing):
    A……………………… B
    XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX YYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY
But what if A is too long? I would want to see B wrap onto the next line like this:
    A……………………………………………………B
    XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX YYYYYY
    YYYYYYYYYYYYY
And similarly….if B is extra long, can the line print as:
    A………………………. B
    XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX YYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY
    YYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY
I don’t want the case where B is long and I get:
    A………………… …B…
    XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX YYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY
    ………………………..YYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY
I can see how you can wrap an individual field like that…but how can you WRAP a line of[b] fields within the frame so it wraps to the BEGINNING of the frame on next line?
    My SPECIFIC CASE
I have a report that I have stripped down to a simple structure for the purposes of this explanation.
My DATA MODEL has the main QUERY (for plant family and species data). The columns of the query are divided into 2 groups. The 1st GROUP contains the family data. Below that is the rest of the species data in a 2nd GROUP.
Linking from the 2nd species group (above) is a new QUERY to extract REGION data based on the common key field. Under this 2nd query is another group with all the REGION columns.
The LAYOUT MODEL has a group frame (the main , base one)
On top of this is a repeating frame based on the 1st group (family data).
On top of this is another repeating frame for the 2nd group (species data).
On top of this is 2 Frames on the same line line. The 1st frame contains columns from the species group .
The 2nd frame on this line is a repeating frame. The PRINT DIRECTION for this frame is ACROSS/DOWN. It repeats details of the REGION where the species is found. These columns come from this group come from the REGION QUERY and GROUP.
All fields on the report line have variable horizontal elasticity.
The problem is that when there is too much data on the line, it does NOT WRAP to the 2nd line.. It TRUNCATES.
Can the line be made to WRAP????..
In my current report, 1 of 2 things is happening:
    1) All fields print on the line until it hits the page boundary and then it just stops. Truncated!
    2) All fields print on the current line, then Oracle Reports throws a new page to print the REMAINDER of the long, input line
But I would like a LONG line to continue printing onto the following line of the same page.
I have tried all combinations of the elasticity fields and the ‘ADVANCED LAYOUT’ properties.
I have been focussing my attention with this problem on the frames .
We are using REPORT BUILDER V 6.0.8.26.0
Thankyou to anyone who may offer assistance.
    Tony Calabrese.

    Steve,
you gain 1 thing, but you lose something else!
    This thing is SO frustrating!
    Hey Steve! Good afternoon.
I've done as you suggested....I have a long text boilerplate item - the only 1 on the line...and it has all the column in it.
    So it looks like:
    &col1 &col2 &col3 &col4 &col5 etc etc etc
And the line expands nicely to each field's requirements.
And when it gets to the right page boundary...it WRAPS to the next line! Beautiful!!!
The only thing is that...when I had individual fields across the line I was able to create format triggers for those fields. And in doing so I was able to reduce the font and change the justification. I had to do that because some of the fields had to appear superscripted.
So I wanted something like (ignore the dots):
    ...................................ppppp
AAAA BBBB CCCCC DDDD EEEE FFFFFF
So the field of 'ppppp' appeared slightly higher on the line than the other fields...
I can't see how I can do this with a single TEXT field containing all the &COL values.
Have you ever come across anything like this?
    Thankyou again,
    Tony Calabrese 12/4/2007

Thank you a lot in advance.
    Best regards,
    Petra

    Petra,
The Forum isn't really designed as a training system but rather where people can share questions or get a separate pair of eyes to look afresh at issues that aren't working for some reason. This is particularly the case for something which is as important as creating dimensions.
The idea of the SSM Cube Builder/Model Designer was to enable people to build models with their relevant dimensions and metrics for demos and simple initial systems using manual data entry. If you are getting into building dimensions that will be outside BW then you are moving into the implementation arena rather than demo creation and need to work carefully so that things tie up.
I doubt people would expect to be able to set up/implement BW without training and SSM is the same.
If you would like training or would like to collaborate on a first project to enable skills transfer then my colleague Pedro and I would be happy to discuss this. We have done this with other people and it has worked well.
    Regards
    Colin

  • Headers/labels in repeating frames

    Hello,
I am able to print a repeating frame accross/down, but I would like to print column headers for them, as well as a side header (used to describe the whole set of data in the accross/down frame).
In any case, I just want the column headers once at the top of each column. Plus, if no records exist, I don't want ANY of the headers, (side or top) to print.
    Simplified example below.
Period Description Period Description Period Description
    Classes 01 Math 02 English 03 Science
    Added: 04 Geography

You're really describing a matrix report with column & row labels. It's easiest just to modify the data model to convert your data into a matrix rather than trying to create a matrix using across/down repeating frames yourself.
To stop everything printing, place a frame with a format trigger against it which returns "false" if no rows are returned.
