A month ago my 4 year old iMac died. Diagnosis was that it needed a new graphics or video card. Too expensive to spend that sort of money on a 4 year old machine so I whipped out the hard drive and the iMac is now sitting in the bottom of my closet. I already had Photoshop CS5 loaded on to my iMac as well as a Macbook Pro. I have now utilized my wife's older iMac, and my copy of Photoshop CS5 loaded and installed just fine, but now after about a month, it's wanting me to provide a new activation key. I paid full price $699 for the product and simply want to use on 2 working MAC's. Anyone encounted this issue before?

To authorize the Windows 8 computer, press the Alt and S keys and choose Authorize this Computer, or click here, follow the instructions, click on Store in the menu bar, and choose Authorize this Computer.
It isn't possible to individually deauthorize a computer which is dead or which you don't have either physical or network access to.

Yes you can de-authorize the computers without them being present. With your itunes open go to store, go down to my account. Enter your account information (it should just be email and password) then (this is the easiest method) deauthorize all of the accounts. Then for the computers/devices you do have just authorize them by putting in your apple id and password.

we have an iphone 4s. It needs to reset as the vibration has stopped. We have a new computer that does not have itunes. It will not allow us to set it up as it says we have five other computers we have set it up with ( i dont think we have owned that many ) but we dont have them anymore. If you no longer have, or access to, the computer(s) you want to deauthorise,
Log in to iTunes, go to "view your account info" on the itunes store, deauthorise all five, (Please Note: this can only be done Once every 12 months) and then re-authorize your current Computer(s) one at a time.

HT1420 I have 5 computers already authorized with my Apple ID. How can I add one more. My home has 1 IMAC, 2 Macbook Pros, 1 Ipad and 2 Iphones. Why are you now limiting me to five computers on my Apple ID when I am clearly an Apple product supporter.

I have six products in my home. I can only authorize five using my Apple ID. All my products are Apple - 1 IMAC, 2 MacBook Pros, 2 Iphones and 1 IPAD. This doesn't seem right - We are so Mac'd out in our home and yet we are now being limited to the number of products we can have using the same Apple ID. Any advice as to how to find a workable soliution to this?

You state you have 1 IMAC, 2 MacBook Pros, ... this = 3 Computers... you can Authorise up to 5 computers.

I authorized 5 computers already. I don't own them anymore.

I authorized 5 computers already. I have an iPhone 4s that has a lot of music on it and I want to have it on my computer as well. I can't authorize it because I keep getting a message saying there are too many computers already authorized. I don't have any other computers. They are no longer in my possession to be able to de-authorize. How do I get my music on my new computer?

I am in the same boat. If I "deauthorize all" will I loose all my music? And what if you have had different account names with each new computer you bought? Is there a way to look up this info (what accounts I have created for itunes--past ones?) I am afraid I will loose all my prior bought itunes music.

Itunes says that 5 computers are already authorized to be used with my account when trying to play music that will not sync to my Ipod, but when I go to deathorize all in the store, it says only one is authorized. If I deathorize in the store and Itunes

10 GB of the 30 GB of music on my computer will not sync to my Ipod. This started after I got a new PC w/ windows 7 on it. All of the music, that will not sync, is music I bought and paid for through Itunes. When I go to the Itunes store it says I have only 1 computer authorized (the one I am on). When I try to play the music that is not getting synced, it says that 5 computers are already authorized. I have tried deathorizing the computers from Itunes and Itunes store. I have also tried deauthorizing the account. I am getting the same result. I have tried DRM stripping software but all seem to need Itunes or WMP to play the music in order to be re recorded without the DRM. In my mind there must be some simple way to really get the computers deauthorized from my account and be able to play the music that I paid apple for. Does anyone have any suggestions or is this common for apple,s products to do?

In order to get those to work you will have to upgrade to Snow Leopard 10.6.8.
Start by checking if you can run Snow Leopard:

When you have installed it, run Software Update to download and install the latest updates for Snow Leopard, preferably the full 10.6.8 combo updater.

Have a Mac Power Book bought 2005 when living in the US. Installed iTunes and set up an account. Have since dowloaded music, videos etc worth $1000s to my computer.... Last year 2012 my HD crashed and I had a new installed with operating system OS X 10.5.8. Can't upgrade to later systems. Before the crash I had long since moved out of the US and forgotten my old user ID and password for iTunes as I hardly ever purchased any music or used the program. I just bought an iPod Nano this Xmas and when I was going to download music to it I realized I had problems. iTunes claims being the latest version (10.6.5) but the Ipod Nano want 10.7 to be able to work with iTunes. I then started to try to access my music and iTunes that I had not been using since the crash. It was an upgraded version and had new unfamiliar functions. I tried, to the best of my ability, to set up the account but to my frustration I can no longer access the $1000s worth of purchased music and music videos. ITunes just give me " I have already authorized this computer Including this one, you have authorized one computer out of your available 5". I only have this computer with iTunes! In iTunes, do Store->View my AppleID
Click "Deuthorize ALL"
Then, on any computers you still have, do Store->Authorize this computer. If there are less than 5, you will have no problem.
You can only do "deauthorize all" once a year, so in the future, if you ever throw a computer away, remember do to "Store->Deauthorize this computer" first.

Go to store on the menu bar. Select view my account. From there, go to manage devices. It will give you a list of all the computer that are authorized to use your account. This will allow you to choose which ones you want to delete.

You cannot use someone else's apps without violating the license agreement. The apps are tied to the owner (via Apple ID). The right thing to do would be to update and start fresh.

4. In the Account Information window, click Deauthorize All.

Hmm,
This is not a big problem as you can have up to five authorised devices.
However, if this is a problem you can go to Store, View my Account,
Deauthorize All
Then you will have to authorize your computer again.
Hopefully the number will stay as 1.
