Activation reset

Why on earth is it so impossible to contact someone to reset the activation count for Digital Editions?
It is practically impossible to find out how to act when you want this reset.
In the Netherlands, the firm Bol.com has launched a new app to use for reading your books.
I installed this new app, but now it turns out that i would have too many activations for my account?
And there is no solution to be found?
Isn't there anyone out there who can tell me exactly how to accomplish this necesary reset?????
And PLEASE do not send me to the contact support page; they SEEM to tell you what to do but
the site just bounces you in a circle through 2 or 3 pages!!!

    If you have access to the other installations then open the program on them and choose Help -> Deactivate.
    If you do not have access then you need to contact Adobe Support thru chat and ask them to reset your activations.

  • IPhone 5 activation reseted all dates of photos and emails

    Hello,
    on 29/03/2013 my mother has activated her new iPhone 5 with iTunes.
    Shortly after she has found that the dates of all of her pictures (iPhoto, and other on hard drive) and her emails (in iCloud) incorrectly were dated to 29.03.. The year does not matter, so there is the 29/03/2006 as well as the 29/03/2012. However, the years do not match with the correct age of the pictures or emails. Thus, the complete sorting of all iPhoto events (holidays, birthdays, etc.) was messed up.
    Obviously, the above problems are related to the activation of the new iPhone. A hardware problem is ruled out at this point probably, the cause is likely to be due to a software error.
    Neither the Apple phone support or other service providers were able to solve this problem.
    The really big question is: What now?
    For products, Apple products, to be exact, may not appear such a thing actually.
    Does any of you know how to get the correct dates again?

  • AT&T contract reset on Activation (of existing iPhone)

    The other day I got back from Apple Repair Services my wifes iPhone that we shipped to them to fix a dead strip on her touch screen. Process was good as they sent us a loaner and we shipped back phone. Well anyhow, when we got the phone back, I went and plugged it into iTunes (with her SIM card) expecting to just have it reactivate and then restore from backup. Well instead it went through the initial setup account process (pick a plan, etc). There wasn't an option to get around so I went through with it, finished, and then got her phone all loaded up again. No issues there.
    Then I called AT&T to verify that this re-picking of a plan didn't hose up what we already had and I specifically asked about the 2yr contract not getting reset to day 1. Low and behold they said yes it did change it to a new 2yr and they dated it back. I asked to what date. They said Feb9th. "What", I said. Sorry, but that is the day I got the "loaner" which had to be activated (though it didn't make me pick a plan like my wifes returned one did, it just went to activate and then was ready to go). So I told them that was the date I got the loaner, and that I got our iPhones on Jun 29th of 2007 (day 1 of sales). She reviewed the records and saw that fact so dated back the contract to my real day 1. So I am good and fine now there.
    However it got me thinking. If the loaner (which had her SIM in it) when it had to Activate caused my contract to reset. Do each re-activation do that? If so, does that mean contracts are getting reset all over the place with Firmware updates that cause reactivation?
    So I post this here to see if others wish to take the time to call AT&T (US customers that is) and ask about where their contract stands. Are dates changing for others? I would like to think it isn't doing it for firmware updates, but what about those here that have had to send a phone back and used a loaner. Did their dates change due to loaner activation like mine did?

    I think there is a current known issue with all activations resetting contracts, even in cases (like yours) where a reset contract is not valid. Should be resolved soon, if it hasn't been already

    While that is just from a person there, it is a semi active user so they may of seen reports of it already there. But this is handy to know that there is an issue with re-activations of some sort or another. At least I know when my contract is supposed to end, though I have had AT&T forever and don't really plan on changing anytime soon.

    I just installed Visio 2003 on a PC, and got the "we can't activate this app via the internet because you've installed it too many times" message. I went back to phone activation, but, of course, that's no longer available for this product.
    How do I get the number of activations reset? Apparently you used to be able to do this by calling Microsoft, but what's the number to call? Or is there another way to do it?
    I'm probably going to need to do it for my copy of Office 2003 also.

    Hi everyone, a simple question but very important for me.....
    Does anyone know if i can keep my original licence after reseting my computer?
    I need to reset my computer, most of the components are damaged (don't ask please) but im worried about the original licence of the photoshop cs6, do you know if i can keep it or a way to recover it after the repair of the computer?

    If you have to reinstall due to parts replacement, you can go to the Help > Deactivate part of your Photoshop.
    You actually are allowed two activations. So if that was not possible, you could still reinstall and activate on the repaired system.
    I hope you registered your software with Adobe in case you need to get your activations reset.

  • Activation /authorisation problems please help distraught daughter

    I hope someone can help me.
    I bought my daughter a Sony Touch ereader for her birthday because she was envious of mine which I have had for a year and love.  I had to go to work on her birthday so she was on her own when she set it up and I'm not entirely sure what she has done.  As far as I can make out she installed Adobe Digital Editions about a month ago knowing that she was going to get an ereader and downloaded some ebooks to start with thinking she could transfer them to the ereader when she got it.  I think she got herself an Adobe ID at the time but as far as ADE goes I suspect she did not authorise her computer with that ID at the time.
    When she installed her ereader, ADE prompted her to authorise her computer which she did using the Adobe ID.  She also bought some more ebooks which she transferred to her ereader no problem. However she still couldn't open any of the ebooks she bought before authorising.  She has only ever used the one laptop for all of this so the issue with two separate accounts on two different computers should not apply.
    I had a look at all the troubleshooting sites I could find and it suggested deauthorising and reauthorising the computer.  That's when it all went pearshaped.  She now can't open ANY of the purchased ebooks even the ones she could open previously.  The ereader properties said it was authorised for Adobe DRM content and it had the right Adobe ID address.  But when she tries to open them it says she is not authorised to preview the book.  I have checked she used the same adobe ID and password for everything so it's not that
    One of the things one always tries is uninstalling and reinstalling problem software.  So I tried reinstalling ADE to make sure we had the most up to date version. But then it didn't recognise the ereader.  WHSmith ebooks customer support said to download ADE yet again. I have now hit the too many activations problem.  She has submitted a case through the web based support portal case number #0181349188 to get her permitted number of activations reset because we can't do anything until that is sorted out.
    However I don't think that will solve the problem because as far as I could tell the computer was authorised properly but it would not recognise the ebooks downloaded before it was deauthorised and reauthorised.  I don't know why it's an issue because it's not as if she has tried to transfer content from or to different computers or devices, she only has the one laptop.
    Please can anyone help me sort this out.  She is absolutely distraught as she has spent all her birthday money on ebooks she can't now open and as she is a student she can't just afford to write off the loss. And I feel sick about it because I thought she'd be thrilled with her new toy
    I'm reasonably computer literate and I have never had any problem with my own Sony ereader (but then I tend to read the ...manual).  I use my own ereader with a different computer by the way so I don't think it's a conflict. But I am stumped by this.  Her laptop is about a year old a Sony Vaio running Vista Home edition.  The registry may be a bit cluttered but although I can reinstall Windows if I have to I have never attempted a registry edit

    I  got an error message when I connected the ereader saying a problem occurred while installing the Ereader software on your computer and I still couldn't open some of the ebooks even though I could open them in ADE so my heart sank.  However I deleted the problem titles from the ereader and reimported them  and then they were fine. I don't know what the error in installing the software was as it seems to be fully functional albeit rather slow to import large titles

    What is preventing you from using the serial number to activate it on the new machine?   You are allowed to have two machines with activated installations so you should be able to with having to ask for a reset.
    If you o need a reset due to having activated twice already then contact Adobe Support thru chat and ask for an activation reset...

  • Customising Metro screen (Windows 8.1 SL)

    I am at my wits end trying to get a default start tiles to work. I am not sure because I am trying this on Windows 8.1 SL
    Whatever I do during post the OOBE on First logon the User set up runs and I get the default start tiles
    I have to use Windows 8.1 SL since I am shipping thousands of tablets for a project, requirement is similar to an OEM setup.Windows 8.1 SL was decided as this would used by independent clients without any domain logon requirements. I require to enter different
    product keys as each system comes up and then the user (Just one admin and a standard user) to have a default start tiles. The users should be limited to the apps which I allow
    I have followed CopyProfile instructions to the letter (I believe) as in  the following TechNet articles
    Customize the Default User Profile by Using CopyProfile
    Customize the Start Screen
    Numerous other sources in the net
    Here is what I am doing
    Install Windows (Windows is not activated)
    Boot in Audit mode by typing sysprep/audit /reboot (no generalize)
    Remove all Provisioned apps except reader which is required
    Add a Custom appx as a Provisioned app (I have installed and tested this on test PC's it works for all users)
    Add all applications, drivers etc. for devices which will be connected to the tablet as part of project
    Customised the Start tiles exactly as required
    Changed default browser to the browser provided by Customer (Chrome)
    Copy out the appFolderLayout.bin to a USB drive
    Sysprep the image with sysprep /oobe /generalize /shutdown /uanttend:MyCustom.xml
    Capture the Image to a WIM File (DISM /Capture-Image)
    Mount the captured wim file and copy the appsFolderLayout.bin file to Default User profile
    During the trouble shooting I had also applied the Provisioned App to the mounted image too for good measure to see if that would help keep the application after sysprep. I also used FirstLogonCommand to apply the Provisioned app on first logon of admin
    during the multiple iterations I did
    The issue I am having and the observations are as below
    Once the user logs on the user setup runs and I get the Default start tiles (IE, File Explorer, Desktop, Skydrive, store). I had removed all other apps before creating the image
    The Custom Shortcuts on the desktop are there
    Default Browser has switched to IE
    Product key is prompted only if I have set SkipMachineOOBE to true. This would mean a lot of other settings too.
    The Custom App is missing. But appears if I Install it again as provisioned app and then its available to all users. (FirstLogonCommand helps here. one issue worked around)
    If I copy the appFolderLayout.bin manually from Default profile to the user profile, log out and log in the start tile appears back as required. So this looks as if the Default profile is being overridden by the user setup as the user logs on for the first
    time
    If I check the registry for default browser setting it is set to Chrome (HKCR/http, HKCU/.../http etc.) But I still have to set it again for each user
    I might be missing something or this just wont work with SL!

    Yes,
    the SID is is not generated in Audit mode, after audit mode the computer starts, the specialize configuration pass runs. A new security ID (SID) is created, and the clock for Windows activation resets, if the clock has not already been reset three
    times.

  • Activate / Deactivate Illustrator CS3 - Volume License

    Hi Guys,
    Well to start this topic, I must say I have never received such poor support for software as I have "received" from Adobe Chat Support team..
    The case is as follows;
    We have a volume license for Adobe Illustrator CS3 and haven't used it since somwhere before 2010. In 2010 we have moved to another city with our company. Therewith also renewing all hardware for our stylists. For over 5 years we haven't used Illustrator CS3, so we never thought about de-activating the software before getting rid of the old hardware. Since a couple months we have a new manager on the styling department, whom wants to introduce Illustrator again. Since all the stylists will need to be trained again for Illustrator, we'd like to do this in the CS3 version before upgrading to CC or CS6.
    So the issue that comes up, is that I cannot activate the software, because the serial number that I've received many years ago, when buying the volume license, has been used too many times. This is because it was never deactivated on the old hardware.
    The only option I had was to contact Support via Chat or Phone. Since I like to keep track on what have been said by both parties, I decided to go for the chat option..
    If any of the Adobe Staff is reading along, the case number is 0215516123.
    In a nutshell; If you have a retail version of a discontinued product with adobe, they can reset the activation count without any problems. If you buy bulk and have volume license, it all comes to this; please upgrade to the latest version.. There is nothing we can do for you..
    Here is the complete chat log with 2 employees of Adobe, who are just not willing to help in ANY way.. I must say this really tested my patience and counting to ten skills..
    Still looking for a solution tho, so any help is appreciated highly!

    I am trying to download umy program again to a new harddrive. I downloaded the program files. But when I try to put in my serial number it does not recognize that the program is loaded.

    You will not have been able to deactivate before the crash, so you may need to phone Customer Support to get your activations reset.

  • Still image pixel aspect ratio wrong in exported video (but correct in Premiere renders)

    I've saved a targa still image from my footage and added it to the bin. It's properties show as follows:
    Image Size: 1440 x 1080
    Pixel Aspect Ratio: 1.3333
    This correctly matches my sequence settings as I'm working with 1080p widescreen footage.
    The image appears as expected in the Program window both before and after rendering previews. However, once I export my sequence as a video file, the still image is squashed (displaying incorrectly):
    A work around would be to stretch out the still to a width of 1920 in Premiere so that the export displays it back at its normal aspect ratio - which works - but I don't understand why I should have to do this.
    The other solution I found was to go to the bin and 'Modify > Interpret Footage' and although "Use Pixel Aspect Ratio from File" already shows the correct settings, to actively reset it (to the same pixel aspect ratio)  with the 'Conform to' option:

    Thanks for the quick reply. But then why does the still's properties (in my bin) show the pixel aspect ratio as 1.3333 (not square pixels, 1.0) and should it not appear incorrectly in both the preview renders and the exported video ? This seems inconsitent to me.

    I am writing to express my dissatisfaction with your product, your licensing structure and more particularly your customer service. 
    I am unable to run my copy of Studio MX 2004. I have attempted to install the software on my Mac Book Pro laptop, and the software returns an error code indicating it “has been activated too many times”. I can no longer run the software, and attempts to contact Adobe customer support over the last month have not yielded a response which would enable me to use the software I own, and have owned for some time. Currently this product is non-functioning and is of no use to me.
    This problem has not been resolved.
    At the same time as I tried to install this software, June 23, 2009, I called Adobe sales and was told by a customer service representative that I was eligible for an upgrade from Studio MX 2004 to a stand alone copy of Dreamweaver CS4 for the price of $199 US dollars. I agreed this would be easier than re-installing Studio MX 2004, and so placed the order on my credit card. I have since been charged $294.45 Cdn, which is the cost plus tax, shipping, duty and conversion of funds to Canadian dollars. When I received the copy of Dreamweaver CS4, I attempted to install it, the serial number returned a green checkmark, but the software then asked for the old serial number from MX 2004, and when I entered my serial number from my MX 2004 software, Dreamweaver indicated this was an invalid number. I called Adobe on July 9, 2009 and was informed that the original customer service agent had erred, and that my copy of Studio MX 2004 does not qualify for an upgrade to a stand alone product. I asked about returning the Dreamweaver product I had purchased, and was informed of your Letter of Destruction procedure, and the process to follow. I have followed your instructions to the letter.
    I have returned your product Dreamweaver CS4 via the LOD and expected repayment of monies under your return policy.  I contacted your company about returning your product but I have gotten no response regarding this issue other than the fact you have received my LOD, it has now been almost a week since this last communication.
    I have made four complaints to date through your Customer Service Portal.
    On your website you advertise a 24 hour response time.  Two of my claims
    have been open since June regarding the installation issue of the Studio MX 2004 software, and have simply been unaddressed other than to tell me to call Technical Support, which I have done with no resolution – and twice after being on hold for more than an hour I was disconnected. Two of the cases have been opened by Adobe staff in order to respond to my issues, but I have now been waiting over a month to have someone give the proper code so I might re-install my copy of Studio MX 2004. I find this a completely unsatisfactory response time.
    I have telephoned your company eight (8) times since late June.  During those
    eight calls I have been placed on hold for an unreasonable amount of time.
    During my calls I have been disconnected numerous times.
    I have called Adobe Corporate Headquarters twice.  When I called headquarters I was placed on hold each time, routed through to customer support and my problems were still not resolved.
    When I contacted your first agent, on June 23rd, they assured
    me that I would be upgraded from Studio MX 2004 to stand alone Dreamweaver CS4.
    I have since been informed that this was promised to me in error.  I expect
    that this promise be fulfilled as I am currently unable to run Studio MX 2004.
    I used to be very impressed with Adobe products having owned Photoshop 3 and
    having upgraded from PS 3 to 5 to 7 to CS 3 to CS 4.  Up until now I have had
    no complaints.  However, this experience has caused me to reconsider my
    loyalty to your products.
    While my complaints with your products are of a personal nature, my
    experience will affect the use of your product at my place of employment.
    As Director of Tri-County Regional School Board in Nova Scotia, Canada,
    and formerly as Technology Consultant for the Board, I make major decisions
    regarding software that is run in all of the English speaking elementary,
    middle and high schools in Yarmouth, Shelburne and Digby counties, Nova
    Scotia, which encompasses over 8000 students.
    The School Board currently owns hundreds of copies of Adobe products, and I personally own a 50 license copy of CS3, which I use when in-servicing staff.
    If I do not receive a prompt and satisfactory remedy from your company I
    will recommend that all of the schools under my care cease using any Adobe
    products.  I will report my experience to the Nova Scotia Department of
    Education and recommend that all schools in Nova Scotia cease using Adobe
    products. 
    As I have not yet received any response from your company about my
    complaints, I have contacted the Better Business Bureau regarding customer service issues and VISA regarding the Dreamweaver CS4 purchase and return via LOD.
    In conclusion, I am seeking the following remedies from your company:
    1.  A written apology for poor customer service
    2.  an upgrade from Studio MX 2004 to stand alone Dreamweaver CS 4
    3.  Monies owing from the return of my original purchase based on your agent’s representation in the amount of $294.45 Cdn.
    I hope that this matter can be resolved promptly and in a satisfactory
    manner.  If it is not, I will stop using any of your products and recommend
    they be pulled out of the schools in my board and throughout the province.
    I look forward to your immediate response.

    Bill,
    I don't want to imply in any way that you have not been treated badly, because you have been. I hope you won't really take steps to deprive the students of your district the opportunity to learn Adobe applications which are industry standards and arguably the best available for many tasks.
    I noted that your problem started initially with an Activation issue. Did you see an option to call activation support (activate by telephone) on the error screen? I've not had to do that with Dreamweaver, but I have with InDesign, and the experience was not unpleasant at all.
    It is important to note that the activation number is a separate call center, not connected to "customer service" in any way (though it, too seems to be located in India). I think it's been about two years now since I had a problem (hard drive replacement, as I recall), and I called the number. The representative asked me for my serial number and why I needed to have my activation reset, and I was up and running again in five minutes. I've heard other customer service horror stories, but never any about the activation center. The only reason I can imagine for not receiving help with activation would be a pattern of excess activations in a short period that might be considered fraud. Is it possible you have been switching the activation between machines on a regular basis (not to commit fraud, but to allow you to work with properly licensed software in multiple locations)? Again, I don't know anything about the MX suite, but InDesign has a "soft" limit of, I believe, 20 activations before you must call and explain yourself. That counter resets automatically after a (unknown to me) period of time to allow for things like hard drive failures and system upgrades.
    Again, there is no excuse for what you have experienced, but I'm not entirely surprised by some confusion about the different licensing criteria involved with pre-acquisition Macromedia products (which I believe Studio MX would be), and post-acquisition versions. I'm not entirely sure anyone knows what is allowed, what versions can be upgraded to what other versions, etc. It's possible to find conflicting information, I think, on different pages at Adobe.com, and the rules are even muddier outside the US. I agree, though, that if a representative promises you that you are eligible for an upgrade, the company has a responsibility to provide you with a working product at the upgrade price, even if it means shipping a full retail version.
