Active Content Extension w/ URL Variables

Hi,
I am using the Flash Active Content extension and I need my
.swf to get a variable dynamically from my URL - how do I do
this?

I am using the Flash Active Content extension - for more
info:
http://www.adobe.com/go/7c29e252
This extension is a workaround so the user does not have to
click in the flash area to activate it for use, due to the IE
Active Content Update. It uses an external .js file to embed the
.swf file.
What I am asking is if my URL variable changes from
"www.website.com/index.php?myURL=red" to
"www.website.com/index.php?myURL=blue", how do I get the PHP to get
that information?

  • Idle Active Content

    Let me start by saying that I have read all about the MS 6
    active x changes, have downloaded and activated the Active content
    extension for Flash. I generated the SWF and HTML using the the
    Active content template. I ran the command to create the
    AC_RunActiveContent java script file.
    My SWF has text with links. When I run the SWF by
    double-clicking it, it works fine - If I click on a text link it
    starts the link. When I run it using the generated HTML it displays
    but the lnks are not active - If I click on a text link it does
    nothing.
    The only HTML code involved is generated. As for the fla, its
    very straight forward. Some words with links set using the
    properties window.
    Does anyone have any ideas, things to look for?
    Thanks in advance!
    PS: I hope to use this technology to provide email links on
    my web site without disclosing any e-mail addresses in the HTML
    code.

    are links in the same block of text ?!
    trie to not make them so...
    or better, make buttons, without textbuttons... :)...
    u have more options....
    so... give lik here !

    Hi, I've set my SWF to publish with the Adobe Active Content

    or is that not possible?
    Thanks!

    Insert > Table
    also
    under the "Common" tab there should be a "Table" icon. It is

  • Dynamic XML content displayed in HTML using url variable

    Hi guys,
    The following is code i am having issues with:
    <script type="text/javascript">
    <!--
    var xml_connect_00 = "new Spry.Data.XMLDataSet(";
    var xml_connect_01 = "assets/xml/toolkit.xml\",
    \"toolkit/section/";
    var xml_connect_02 =
    "/product\",{sortOnLoad:\"product_name\",sortOrderOnLoad:\"ascending\"";
    var xml_connect_03 = ")";
    // Create variable to see if there is a ? in the url
    var url_input = document.URL.indexOf('?');
    // Create variable from ? in the url to the end of the string
    var xml_category = document.URL.substring(url_input+1,
    document.URL.length);
    var dsSoftware =
    document.write(xml_connect_00,xml_connect_01,xml_category,xml_connect_02,xml_connect_03);
    --->
    </script>
    dsSoftware is my XML Data set connection string, and by using
    document.write, the correct string i want is displayed (in my
    html), but - as you can probably guess by now(!) - i want it to
    display in the actual Javascript code so i can connect to the xml
    file and display the contents depending on the url variable sent.
    Is this possible, and if so, am i going about it the right
    way? I am not the most proficient at JavaScript, so may have some
    ugly code (and not even 100% that this can even be done)!!
    Just to give you an outline as to why i am doing this - my
    XML file has different categories within it for different products.
    I send the category name via a url variable to another page
    (containing the above code) that will display the appropriate
    category information depending on what url variable is sent.
    Cheers in advance for any help.

    Me again!
    Sorry to keep updating, but i have now surpassed my last
    question and got the alert to work correctly. The question i have
    now regards the following code:
    <script type="text/javascript">
    <!--
    var params = Spry.Utils.getLocationParamsAsObject();
    var dsSoftware = new
    Spry.Data.XMLDataSet("assets/xml/toolkit.xml", "toolkit/section");
    //If the URL parameter 'software' has a value, set the XPath
    that includes a filter and then load the data.
    if (params.software){
    dsSoftware.setXPath("toolkit/section[name =
    '"+params.software+"']/product");
    dsSoftware.loadData();
    //alert(params.software);
    //-->
    </script>
    Everything seems to work without error, but i cannot load my
    xml file. The problem, i think, is that my xml heirachy is as
    follows:
    "toolkit/section/section_name/product"
    section_name is unique for each section, and that is what i
    am trying to pass through the url variable, so i can display all
    the products from that section.
    Can anyone tell me what i am doing wrong?
    Cheers in advance - again!!

  • Flash Active Content Update extension

    I am using flash for advertising, and I usually link to the
    customers page by this:
    on (release) {
    getURL(clickTag, "blank");
    and in the script to publish the flash is this:
    <PARAM NAME=movie VALUE="
    http://www.somesite.no/flash.swf?clickTag=http://www.customersite.no">
    Question:
    How do I do that with the new Flash Active Content Update
    script?

    I found out myself, and here are the solution:
    In the long list you have to add the url like this:
    'movie', 'flash?clickTag=http://www.customersite.no',

  • Workaround for IE active content problem?

    Adobe
    posted
    a workaround for existing web pages to respond to the change in
    IE that requires users to manually activate Flash content. I tried
    doing the same document.write in an external file for the HTML
    files FlashHelp generates wherever I found the <object> and
    <embed> tags, but I get a script error ("Object expected") in
    the lines where I call the function. (The solution worked for me in
    simple HTML pages with Captivate movies, so I know it can work.)
    The only reason I can think of that it won't work is that the
    scripts are concatenating strings, not just showing a movie where
    the <object> and <embed> tags are. Has anyone found a
    workaround for FlashHelp so users don't have to manually activate
    the top and left panes? I put in a "wish" for Adobe to provide a
    solution on the site and later in an update or new version of
    RoboHelp (which is another issue in and of itself), but who knows
    when the developers will be able to come up with it. Thanks!

    Thanks for asking, Mimi. Here are more specific steps:
    1. Open Notepad or another program for creating text files.
    2. Create two functions. For example:
    function insertMaster1() {
    function insertMaster2() {
    You can call your functions anything you want, but the names
    must be different. Note that for the moment, they're empty, but
    we'll change that in a minute.
    3. Save the Notepad file with a JS file extension (for
    example, runactive.js). In Notepad, specify “All Files”
    for “Save as type” so that it doesn’t save as a
    TXT.
    4. When you generate your FlashHelp system, it creates a
    bunch of HTM files containing JavaScript in the destination folder
    you specified when generating your output. Locate wf_master.htm and
    wf_navpane.htm in the output folder. (If you leave RoboHelp to use
    its defaults, it puts your help system in an !SSL!/FlashHelp
    directory within your project folder.)
    5. Open wf_master.htm.
    6. In the <head> tags, insert a line that references
    your JS file:
    <script language=“JavaScript”
    src=“runactive.js”></script>
    7. Find the lines in the code that look like this:
    // Insert the “Master” SWF
    8. Highlight everything AFTER this commented-out block until
    the </script> tag. The last thing you highlight should be
    "document.write(strObject);".
    9. Cut the highlighted code and paste it into the first
    function in your JS file so it looks like this:
    function insertMaster1() {
    // Build up the variable string we will be sending
    strFlashVars = "uniqueHelpID=" + parent.UniqueID();
    ……(more code)
    document.write(strObject);
    10. In the place where you just cut all that code out of
    wf_master.htm, insert a call to the function:
    insertMaster1();
    That’s all you need because all that code you just
    moved was already in <script> tags in the HTM file. The
    </script> tag should come immediately after this function
    call.
    11. Open wf_navpane.htm.
    12. Repeat steps 6 – 10 for wf_navpane.htm. The code
    we’re concerned with in this file looks almost exactly like
    that in wf_master.htm, but there are a few lines less this time.
    Put the code you take out of wf_navpane.htm into the second
    function in your JS file. Where you cut out the code from
    wf_navpane.htm, put a call to the second function (it should come
    right before the end of the <script> tags):
    insertMaster2();
    13. Save your JS file and the two HTM files.
    14. Whenever you re-generate your output, RoboHelp is going
    to erase your new versions of these HTM files and create its own
    again. Copy your new versions of wf_master.htm and wf_navpane.htm
    to another location (can be a folder within your output folder).
    Now you have them so you can paste them back over RoboHelp’s
    versions each time you finish generating your output. For example,
    I would stow my wf_master.htm and wf_navpane.htm in a folder called
    "drop files." Then, after I get done generating my output, I copy
    those files and paste them in the output folder, letting them save
    over the ones that RoboHelp created.
    15. To test it once you've finished the swap, find the HTM
    file in your output folder that is named after your project. For
    example, if my project is called flying_monkey, I would find
    flying_monkey.htm. Open this HTM file in Internet Explorer, and you
    shouldn’t have any messages telling you that you have to
    press Enter or Spacebar or click on the panes to activate them.
    This runs from the same basic idea as Adobe’s
    workarounds for Flash—we’re going to a file external to
    the HTM files for the active content tags. Hope you find this
    useful! Let me know if you run into any problems.

  • Using manual JS Active Content Fix, but now how do I append the *.swf?

    Hi all I am using this method to fix the Active Content
    issue,
    http://www.adobe.com/devnet/activecontent/articles/devletter.html#multipleoccurrences
    but now I have come across a situation when I have to append
    the end of the .swf.
    EG: Active content fix script. It does not use the extension
    .swf
    <script type="text/javascript" >
    AC_FL_RunContent(
    'codebase',
    'https://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=6,0,0,0',
    'width', '764',
    'height', '141',
    'src', 'images/footer_graphic_1_about',
    'quality', 'high',
    'pluginspage',
    'https://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer',
    'align', 'middle',
    'play', 'true',
    'loop', 'true',
    'scale', 'showall',
    'wmode', 'window',
    'devicefont', 'false',
    'id', 'footer_graphic_1_about',
    'name', 'images/footer_graphic_1_about',
    'menu', 'true',
    'allowScriptAccess','sameDomain',
    'movie', 'images/footer_graphic_1_about',
    'salign', ''
    ); //end AC code
    </script>
    I need to add .swf?<%response.write qs%>" to the
    images/footer_graphic_1_about, because I am passing a variable
    through the .swf.
    Eg: images/footer_graphic_1_about.swf?intro=no

  • Pop-Up Menus and active content errors - Help!

    I'm attempting to add pop-up menus to my navigation bar, to
    make my site more user-friendly, but to no avail:
    I've tried designing pop-up menus in Fireworks, then
    importing the html code in, but that gives me errors when I try to
    insert the bar. Then, I tried putting my menus in different layers,
    with a "show layer" behavior on the button, and a "hide layer"
    behavior attached to the roll-off of the layer, but my version of
    Dreamweaver won't attach a behavior to a layer.
    Then, I noticed the tech-note on this site for the fix to use
    pop-ups in a template, so I added pop-up menus directly to my
    navigational buttons using the wizard. So here's where my problem
    comes in. . .
    When I preview my page, it throws up an active content error,
    but will still run. I uploaded it to my remote server, but when I
    went to the url, no action takes place when I put my cursor over
    it. Anybody have any ideas on how to create a pop-up menu that
    won't throw up an active content error? I've seen them on plenty of
    websites before, but can't figure how to do them.
    Any light you could shed would be greatly appreciated!

    Sometimes, they make your site less user-friendly. So be
    careful.
    The DW/FW pop-up menus are usually something that should be
    avoided. They
    are very poorly thought out and implemented, and will likely
    cause you
    continuing problems. It's foolish to devote the time to them
    that could be
    more effectively be placed elsewhere, especially since there
    are better
    options that work right out of the box, so to speak. Please
    check the free
    and commercial options here -

    Don't use DW/FW pop-up menus.

  • Dynamic URL-variables

    I have this URL-variables: test.php?id=1&kw=lente. id and
    cat_lev02 are dynamic placed.
    Now I want to filter the content so only item id="1" with
    cat_lev02 = "lente" are shown:
    id and cat_lev02 are dynamic placed in the link above. How
    can I do this? Look at the code I use to get id: How can I put

    this is not working)?

    How can I do this?
    Build the SQL query in the Advanced mode of the Recordset
    dialog box.
    For each dynamic value, define a variable by clicking the
    plus button
    alongside Variables, and entering the details in the dialog
    box.
    For example, build the query like this:
    SELECT * FROM ul_posts WHERE id = col1 AND cat_lev02 = col2
    Define col1 like this:
    Name: col1
    Type: Integer (in older versions of Dreamweaver, this is
    Numeric)
    Default value: -1
    Runtime value: $_GET['id']
    Define col2 like this:
    Name: col2
    Type: Text
    Default value: -1
    Runtime value: $_GET['kw']

  • Active Content W/ Rollover Buttons Help

    I'm pretty new to web design, and I've been using dreamweaver
    to create webpages. My problem is I have some rollover buttons I
    made in fireworks and imported to dreamweaver as fireworks html,
    and in IE7 I get the "activate active content" error. I installed
    the dreamweaver 8.2 update, thinking that would fix it, but
    although I can see that the extension to automatically change the
    code so it'll work in IE in my preferences, the option to do so
    never comes up. I read somewhere that it doesn't support image
    tags, which I think mine are. So my question is: is there an easy
    fix for this other than the update, or at least a fix for a
    beginner who doesn't know javascript? I've googled to my heart's
    content, and everything I've come across has been over my head.
    Please someone help me with this. I can also post the code if
    that'll help, just let me know. Thanks in advance!

    I'm not quite sure what the actual issue is here but several
    things seem to
    be confused.
    My problem is I have some rollover buttons I made in
    fireworks and
    > imported to dreamweaver as fireworks html, and in IE7 I

    Buttons made in Fireworks and activated with Javascript are
    not related to
    the "activate active content" issue.
    Do you have some Flash or other active content on your page
    which is
    triggering the "click to activate" which you're confusing
    with your
    Fireworks buttons?
    I installed the dreamweaver 8.2 update, thinking that

    I don't quite follow this part.
    So my question is: is there an easy fix for this other than
    the update, or

    Web content driven by Javascript is not active content so I'm
    not sure what
    the issue is or what needs fixing.
    Can you post a link to your page?

  • UCCX - Assigning the active CTI Port to a variable

    Hello,
    I've been rigorously searching the forums here and have been unable to find a way to assign the active CTI port to a variable.
    I'm wanting to assign the active CTI port during a supervised transfer to a variable that we will then be using for an exterior reporting application to narrow down call records.
    I've found the information I'm looking for in the db_Cra under destinationDN in the  ContactCallDetail Table, but cannot find anywhere in the CCX editor that I can assign it to a variable.
    Any information someone can provide on the issue would be very appreciated.
    Halo Levi
    UCCX Version 8.5
    UCM Version 8.6

    Levi,
    A simpler way would be to use a Get Trigger Info step to grab the active Contact object.  Then execute a "toString()" call and extract the current CTI-Port from it.  In the string is a plethora of comma delimted information about the call so all you have to do is look for the CTI-Port number.  It is prefixed by 'TP=" and is usually at the end of the string.
    Below is an example of what to look for.  I've already captured the Contact object into cntTriggeringContact.  I just call cntTriggeringContact.toString() and the output below is what you get.  Those who've used UCCX for awhile will notice that the content is strikingly similar to a MIVR log entry.   Anyway, the TP=03009996230 was the CTI-Port directory number for this particular system.
    Hope this helps.
    -Steven

    You can try these steps in case of issues with web pages:
    You can reload web page(s) and bypass the cache to refresh possibly outdated or corrupted files.
    *Hold down the Shift key and left-click the Reload button
    *Press "Ctrl + F5" or press "Ctrl + Shift + R" (Windows,Linux)
    *Press "Command + Shift + R" (Mac)
    Clear the cache and cookies only from websites that cause problems.
    "Clear the Cache":

  • Defining a spry data set from a url variable

    I am developing a family web site that, among other things, uses a single 'recipe' page to display recipes from different xml files as called by a url variable (e.g. ?xmlFile="{url}"&recipeName="{name}") from a summary page.  I can get the recipe name to reproduce using a $_GET php function, but I cannot establish the data set that way.  How can I define the data set from the incoming URL variable?  The necessary files are:
    The starting point from which I send the selected URL variable (use the scampi recipe)  http://ebogott.com/recipeBox.php.
    The file that is generated is http://ebogott.com/recipe.php?XMLfile=GrilledScampiOnAngelHair.xml&recipeName=Grilled%20Sh rimp%20Scampi%20on%20Angel%20Hair%20Pasta
    This methodology will allow me a number of cascading selections.  I know this is not unique.  I just haven't figured it out.

    don Carlos,
    The following shows the strength of the Spry framework. All very easy and simple.
    <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd">
    <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" xmlns:spry="http://ns.adobe.com/spry">
    <head>
    <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8" />
    <title>Untitled Document</title>
    <script src="SpryAssets/xpath.js" type="text/javascript"></script>
    <script src="SpryAssets/SpryData.js" type="text/javascript"></script>
    <link href="SpryAssets/SpryMasterDetail.css" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" />
    <script type="text/javascript">
    <!--
    var dsRecipes = new Spry.Data.XMLDataSet("recipes/recipes.xml", "recipes/recipe");
    var dsIngredients = new Spry.Data.XMLDataSet("recipes/{dsRecipes::url}", "recipe/ingredients/ingredient");
    var dsProcess = new Spry.Data.XMLDataSet("recipes/poultrySoup.xml", "recipe/process/element");
    //-->
    </script>
    </head>
    <body>
    <div class="MasterDetail">
      <div spry:region="dsRecipes" class="MasterContainer">
        <div class="MasterColumn" spry:repeat="dsRecipes" spry:setrow="dsRecipes" spry:hover="MasterColumnHover" spry:select="MasterColumnSelected">{name}</div>
      </div>
      <div spry:detailregion="dsRecipes dsIngredients dsProcess" class="DetailContainer">
        <div class="DetailColumn">{@genre}</div>
        <div class="DetailColumn">{@serves}</div>
        <div class="DetailColumn">{@time}</div>
        <div spry:repeat="dsIngredients">
          <div class="DetailColumn">{dsIngredients::qty}</div>
          <div class="DetailColumn">{dsIngredients::measure}</div>
          <div class="DetailColumn">{dsIngredients::item}</div>
        </div>
        <div spry:repeat="dsProcess">
          <div class="DetailColumn">{dsProcess::element}</div>
        </div>
      </div>
      <br style="clear:both" />
    </div>
    </body>
    </html>
    You will have to give a bit of style to the detail region.
    I hope this helps.

  • Unable to get URL Variable

    I've seen many posts about URL Variables, and I've tried implementing the solutions, but nothing seems to be working, so I'm hoping that someone out there might be able to help me with my situation.
    I have built a JSP page in JDeveloper. The page must identify the visitor using an id (passed as a url variable) as well as an account_id entered by the user on the page. I've created a procedure in my ModuleImpl.java file that receives both the url variable and account_id and then calls a pl/sql transaction I've created in the database.
    Thing is, if I take the procedure, which I've allowed to be shared to the Client interface, and plop it on my JSP Page, I get two inputs, one for the account_id and one for the url variable, meaning the user has to enter the url variable in the field for the procedure to work.
    I've tried modifying the value of the field and setting it equal to #{param.id}, but when I run the page, the input becomes a display field and is not sent to my java procedure. I've also tried the FacesContext way of getting a url parameter, but I can't get that to work in my java file.
    What I would like to have (or at least what my intensions were when I started this project) is to have the url variable field be hidden and automatically populated with the url variable so that when the customer enters their account_id and clicks submit, both the account_id and url variable are passed.
    Any idea on how to implement something like this?

    You can try setting the value of the parameter in the
    pagedef.xml file for your page directly using
    expression language.Thanks for your reply! I did that, or at least I think I did. Here is the NameData tag in my pagedef.xml file:
    <NamedData NDName="web_hash" NDType="java.lang.String"
    NDValue="${bindings.save_new_password_web_hash}"/>
    what I've tried doing, is changing the NDValue to the three values below, all of which didn't work (returned null):
    NDValue ="${param.id}"
    NDValue ="#{param.id}"
    NDValue ="${facesContext.externalContext.requestParameterMap['id']}"
    is there a different expression I should be using?
    Also, I will take a look at the solution you likend to.
