Active Sync error
Hi,
When i change any attribute of a user in the Authoritative Directory the Active Sync configured senses this chnage and calls the Update User Workflow and the chnages get refelcted in Identity Manager.
But when the user to be updated has some capability and controlled organisation then the Active Sync is not callling the Update User Workflow. In the Active Sync logs i can see the error as "Since you have directly assigned one or more capabilities to testuser, you must also directly assign at least one Contolled Organistaion.
Can anyone tell me where am i goin wrong and what changes i would need to make for this?
Thanks in advance,
deep
my suggestion was based on the error message you got.... and i use the strategy.. using adminRoles usually, instead of assigning directly ... but wont be feasible in all cases.
from the error message, its clear that some how the forms/ process involved does not find the controlled organization.
try adding to the following to form....
<Field name='waveset.controlledOrganizations'>
<Default>
<ref>waveset.controlledOrganizations</ref>
</Default>
</Field>
<Field name='waveset.capabilities'>
<Default>
<filterdup>
<appendAll>
<ref>waveset.capabilities</ref>
<!-- if u need to add any more capabilities, add the capability here and use the appendAll, and filterdup, else you can neglect those -->
</appendAll>
</filterdup>
</Default>
</Field>and these fileds should have a disable like the following..... in case yoou want these fields to be processed during an update only.
<Disable>
<neq>
<ref>feedOp</ref>
<s>update</s>
</neq>
</Disable>Make sure u r using the same type - default / derivation / expansion for both the capability and controlled organizations in your Active Sync forms / rules etc....
that's all what i could suggest....
Thanks
Nishad

Has anyone seen this error before:
[#|2007-10-13T18:18:31.571-0400|WARNING|sun-appserver-ee8.1|javax.enterprise.system.stream.err|_ThreadID=12;|
FATAL EXCEPTION (IDM): Unable to update task results due to fatal exception.|#]
It keeps popping up the in the app server every ten minutes (the polling interval configured in the FFAS is 10 minutes). Also it seems the only way we can get the activesync to start is on server startup we are never able to manually start or stop it...I think these two issues are related and that somehow somthing maybe got corrupted in the db maybe?? Has anyone encountered a similar problem. This is the flat file active sync on IDM 7.1 on Sun App server 8.1. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!I'm seeing this error with our active sync processes. They seem to be executing on both of our active sync back end servers. Don't know why. It is causing problems though. We are running IDM 7.1.1.7.

Urgent : Flat File Active Sync Error
Hello,
I'm trying to set up a FlatFileActiveSync for update of accounts in IDM 7.1.
I want to update accounts which match on the accountId and do nothing for the others accounts which do not match.
It works for accounts which match on the accountId but I have this error for the others accounts which do not match.
+2008-02-18T16:05:40.509+0100: Error Processing Line: {matricule=00990000, telephonenumber=4008, telephoneannuaire=4008}+
+com.waveset.adapter.iapi.IAPIException: There was a conflict with the record [{telephoneAnnuaire=4008, telephoneNumber=4008, accountId=00990000}]+
and no resolution process has been specified on the adapter.
It is recommended that you define the process for handling unmatched accounts
on this load process.
Do you have the solution ?
Thanks
Mathieu
Edited by: mroullet on Feb 18, 2008 7:22 AMI do not find where I must go, can you re-explain me ?
In the synchronization policy I have the parameter "+Create Unmatched Accounts+" but it is already uncheck !
And the help for this parameter is : " +Create Unmatched Accounts : When true, the adapter will attempt to create accounts that it does not find in the Identity system. When false, the adapter will run the account through the process returned by the Resolve Process Rule.+"
I must choose or create a resolve process rule but I do not know how and why because I do not want to create these account.
Thanks

Active Sync Error in Event Logs - Generated by Health Monitor Mailbox.
Receiving the event log entry below on an Exchange 2013 Mailbox Server (Server 2012 OS). No policies have been configured yet. Seems odd that by default the health mailbox would be blocked when default policy is allow. Anybody else seeing this?

I have not. I just chalked it up to another broken item with Exchange 2013. Maybe it will be fixed by next year. -

Exchange 2007 Active Sync Issue with 1 users mailbox
Good Afternoon,
Server OS: Small Business Server 2008
Exchange: 2007 Standard - Update Rollup 13 SP3
Mobile phone: Blackberry Z10
We are in the process of decommissioning our Blackberry Enterprise Server, and down to one user. I am able to setup Exchange on his new non BES server tied phone, but it will not sync any email, all Meetings, and only some contacts. I have tried
adding this account to an Android phone with the same results. I have numerous times went into EMC and delete the Mobile device, when re-adding the account, everything seems to point to his exchange account being the culprit. I am getting the below
Active Sync error after adding his account. I have Bing / Googled around, and nothing of substance I have found. Thank you in advance!

How to catch error in the Active Sync process
Hi, we are using Flat File active sync to update IDM user attribute. Once IDM found matched record, it builts view. However, during this period, the the matched user is locked, for example. Then IDM stop processing this record then go to next record. How can I catch this error? In log file I saw error message but how can use workflow or other way to know the error? How can get ResultItem that contains error message during AS?
Hi,
I am doing the following....
Assume a main workflow which calls many sub workflows ...
1. Define two global variables as follows
<Variable name='anyErrorOccured'><Boolean>false</Boolean></Variable>
<Variable name='allErrorMsg'><s>Error..</s></Variable>
2. In the all main and sub workflows, add an special 'Action' to check the errors after each Action
<Action id='1' name='doSomething'>
</Action>
<Action id='2' name='checkForErrors'>
<cond>
<isTrue><ref>WF_ACTION_ERROR</ref></isTrue>
set the anyErrorOccured variable to true
Append a custom error message(hard coded) to allErrorMsg variable - error message may contain workflow name and in which action error occured
</cond>
</Action>
3. Before ending the main workflow, if anyErrorOccured is true, then send an email to IDM administartor with allErrorMsg
<Activity id='3' name='CheckOverallError'>
<Transition to='SendOverallErrorNotificationToIDM'>
<ref>anyErrorOccured</ref>
</Transition>
<Transition to='end'/>
</Activity>
Hope, this helps.
Furthermore, I tried to catch the actual error trace from IDM using the following in each 'checkForErrors' Action and append all IDM error messages for email notification.
<invoke name='getMessage'>
<get>
<invoke name='getErrorMessages'>
<ref>WF_CASE_RESULT</ref>
</invoke>
<i>1</i> ???????
</get>
</invoke>
But , it was not successful, as I could not extract the right error mesage at the right place from WF_CASE_RESULT -
Error while running SAP HR activ sync
Hi Geeks,
Got this issue while I run my SAP Active sync.
"Caused by: com.sap.mw.idoc.IDoc$Exception: (8) IDOC_ERROR_INITIALIZATION: Could not initialize SAP Java Connector IDoc Class Library. Found SAP Java Connector version 2.1.6 but version 2.1.8 or a higher patch level is required."
I have SAPJco 2.1.6 in my class path and the Sap Idoc is of 2.1.8 but I am not able to find the earlier version of sap idoc jars in serverice.sap.com.
Let me know ur thoughts on the same.
Regards
JeyanthHi Choon,
First of all do you have the installation guide on you, if not please get one from the marketplace. The one I have suggests the following at the end of installation -
Since we are installing IDES, I am told just click retry once more (you will get the error again), and
then click OK to end the installation. This is valid for SAP R/3 4.7 ext.1.
See if this removes the error you are getting, please awards points if you succeed, and let me know.
Thanks,

Flat File Active Sync - Notify admin incase of data processing errors
Dear Friends,
We have couple of Requirements to use OOTB flat file active sync adapter
1. To read data from a flat file and update the records in Sun Identity Manager system
2. Notify admin if there are any data processing errors while reading data from a flat file. The data processing errors can occur if there is an invalid data. for example, lets say the input flat file has 3 columns defined, but the file conatins records which has four values.
firstname,lastname,email
testfirst,testlast,[email protected],12345
Req#1 is working fine. There are no issues with that.
Req#2: if the file contains invalid data, i noticed that the active sync adapter throws an Array Index out of bound exception. so, we need to send an email notification to the admin whenever data processing errors occurs.
I noticed that whenever the data processing exception occurs, the active sync adapter stops processing records and the active sync input form was not triggered. Unless active sync form was triggered, it's very difficult to determine whether the data was read successfully or not.
Please let me know if there are any configurations/customizations to me made on OOTB flat file active sync adapter to handle data processing errors and send email notifications to administrators.
Appreciate your help
Thanks
VijayHi,
We have same requirement that
"Notify admin if there are any data processing errors from a flat file.
The data processing errors can occur if there is an invalid data or account is locked etc..."
In short notify admin if any error logged in Active sync Log file while active sync runs.
Yes,I noticed same that whenever the data processing exception occurs, the active sync adapter stops processing records and the active sync input form was not triggered. Unless active sync form was triggered, it's very difficult to go ahead to meet the requirement.
Please let me know if there are any configurations/customizations to me made on flat file active sync adapter to send email notifications to administrators.
Thanks,

Hello, everyone, my name is rafl
I have a problem with exchange 2013 active sync.
I have installed exchange 2013 coexistence with legacy exchange 2007, I have to migrate user mailboxes: [email protected] from exchange 2007 to exchange 2013.
but any problem with active sync connection on the mobile device after moving mailbox user. I reconfigure the exchange ActiveSync external connection domain (latest.domain.com) on mobile device replacing legacy exchange ActiveSync external connection domain
(legacy.domain.com)
the process of moving mailboxes successfully without error.
Access OWA for exchange 2007 and exchange 2013 is running normally
access mail from Outlook running normally
Certificate request has been installed and has no problem with it
The OWA virtual directory is configured for internal and external connections and different from the legacy exchange
The autodiscover virtual directory is configured for internal and external connections and different from the legacy exchange
ActiveSync virtual directory is configured for internal and external connections and different from the legacy exchange
user mailboxes are still on exchange 2007 is not problematic.
only problem with Exchange Active Sync on mobile devices, where I set up an email with android, iphone, windows phone. the error message: cannot connect to the server.
but, if I create a new user and create user mailboxes directly in exchange server 2013, ActiveSync can run without error on mobile device, access through OWA, MsOutlook, Outlook Anywhere also run normally.
only the results of user migration from exchange 2007 to exchange 2013 which is troubled with exchange ActiveSync connection.
any ideas for this problem, and what should I check on the exchange server ..?i have run the activesync test connectivity and get some error :

I have allowed access to port 443 (https) and 80 (http) on the firewall and re-run testconnectivity, but still with the same results. if I enable active sync for users who created directly in Exch 2013 there is no problem with the ActiveSync, just a problem
for users who moved from Exch 2007 to Exch 2013. @Android, iPhone, and Blackberry the error message "cannot connect to the server" -
We are having this issue across multiple IOS devices ranging from IOS version 5.x up to the latest 6.1.2. Many (not all) emails sent to the devices are unreadable and simply state: "This message has not been downloaded from the server". Microsoft believes this to be some sort of bug with the IOS devices in the way they are handling the SSL encryption.
Facts:
- Devices are connected to an Exchange 2010 SP1 Rollup 6 via Active Sync (No POP3, IMAP or SMTP)
- issue occurs on multiple IOS devices within the organization ranging from IOS 5.x up to the latest 6.1.2
- Issue occurs on both external cellular data and internal wireless networks
- Not all emails sent to the devices result in the error, but issue does tend to occur more frequently from certain senders/domains
- Using the same user account on an android phone does not result in an issue (even when receiving the exactly same email that has been sent to the IOS devices)
- Closing mail app / rebooting device does not resolve the issue
- Doesn't appear to matter what the mesage format is (can be html, plaintext, etc)
- Spent nearly 7 hours with Microsoft going through the Exchange server configuration and looking for possible causes. None have been found and all testing indicates things are setup correctly.
- This is not a case of Issue 2.3 listed here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2563324 (verified by Microsoft Support)
- If we disable SSL on the IOS device and connect via plain HTTP the messages are displayed correctly!
- If we use a different SSL certificate, the issue still occurs - so not a problem with the original cert.
Does anyone have any suggestions on what would cause this? Does the ISO devices have any sort of log that would indicate why it's reporting this error? The current error is pretty unhelpful.GFI Have a solution for this problem. It is to do with iOS implementation of reading the message headers when SPF compliance modifications are made by GFI.

E-mail and Exchange Active Sync
Planning on configuring E-mail in your Xperia phone? Or do you experiencing problems syncing your E-mails? If yes this might be the topic for you.
Below you’ll find some guides on how to setup E-mail sync and troubleshoot any problems.
POP3/IMAP
POP4/IMAP E-mail accounts are the most commonly used. This guide will show you the steps of configuring your E-mail manually if your E-mail server doesn’t support auto setup. Please note that the Next button won’t be lit if you have typed an incorrect E-mail address containing characters or symbols that are not supported.
Configuring POP3 or IMAP E-mail
Go to the E-mail application and enter your E-mail address and password. Now press Manual setup.
Chose the kind of E-mail server your provider is using. If uncertain check this with your E-mail provider.
Under Incoming settings enter your username, password and server details. If you’re uncertain about these details contact your E-mail provider. But in general your username is the same as your E-mail address but some providers may use a specific user name for your account.
Here you can also set if the server should delete the E-mails if you delete them in your phone. This setting is by default always set to Never.
Next step is Outgoing settings. If your E-mail provider also has an SMTP server you can enter the details for sending E-mails here. This normally requires a sign-in on the SMTP server. If yes, check the Require sign-in box and enter your E-mail address and password. As above if you’re uncertain about any of these details contact your E-mail provider.
If your E-mails provider lacks an SMTP server you can check if your network operator provides an SMTP server and use their details. Using your network operators SMTP generally doesn’t require sign-in.
Now it’s time to set how and when to check for new E-mails. Set and check the options you desire.
The last step of the setup is to enter an account name and your name (signature).
Troubleshooting POP3/IMAP E-mail
First make sure that you have a working Internet connection in the phone.
You can download Internet and MMS settings for your phone by going to Setting > Xperia > Internet settings.
If you have a working Internet connection but still not able to connect to your E-mail server or sync your E-mails check that no Proxy server within your APN settings may be blocking this. You can check this by going to Settings > More (Wireless & networks) > Mobile networks > APN or Access Point Names > Your Internet APN. Check if any details are set for Proxy and Proxy port. If yes you can try to delete them (temporarily) and save the APN. Now check if you’re able to connect or sync with your E-mail server.
You can also verify suspected Internet connection issues by trying via a Wi-Fi network instead.
E-mail disappearing?
By default our E-mail application is set to only mirror the server. So if an E-mail on the server is deleted it will also be removed from the phone at the next sync.
Syncing sent E-mail?
This is not possible on POP3 configurations. To be able to sync sent E-mails in the phone you must have configured an IMAP or Exchange Active Sync account.
Problem sending E-mail?
If you’re not using the same SMTP server as network operator in your phone you might experiencing problems sending E-mail via mobile networks. If this is the case you can connect to a Wi-Fi network to send E-mail or check with your SMTP provider if the outgoing port can be encrypted.
If none of the tips above helps you, you can try to download a third party E-mail application from Google Play store. This can be easy way to rule out where a specific problem may be located.
Exchange ActiveSync
Our Xperia phones come with the built-in Android native client for synchronizing your corporate E-mails, calendar and contacts. Here are some things worth double checking if you would experience any problems with Exchange sync.
Begin with checking your sync account details and if you haven’t configured the Exchange ActiveSync account yet see the instructions bellow.
Configuring a Exchange ActiveSync account
Go to the E-mail application and enter your corporate address and password. Then press next.
Don’t worry if the setup might fail at this point because most Exchange servers don’t have auto setup enabled. In this case just press Manual setup. Please note that the Next button won’t be lit if you have typed an incorrect E-mail address containing characters or symbols that are not supported.
Now our E-mail application needs to know what kind of account you want to configure. Press Exchange ActiveSync.
This will bring you to the incoming settings screen. Enter domain\user name, password and server address. If you’re uncertain about your details contact your IT department to check which credentials to use. You will also need to know if you should accept all SSL certificated or use a client certificate.
When all details are correct you will have to setup how and when to sync. So enter and check the options you desire.
When you see this screen the setup is complete.
If your Exchange server requires certain security settings you might see the following pop-up after finishing the setup. If this is the case you must approve the security update in order to sync E-mail, calendar and contacts.
Pressing OK will give you a screen showing you what permissions you need to give the E-mail application. These permissions/ security settings are set from the Exchange server and depend on your corporate IT policy.
Troubleshooting Exchange Active Sync
ActiveSync protocol version
You can check which Exchange ActiveSync protocols that are supported by your phone model in its white paper. http://developer.sonymobile.com/downloads/whitepapers/
Compare this with your server to make sure they’re compatible.
“SERVER REQUIRES UNSUPPORTED SECURITY FEATURES”
If you get the error message above your Exchange server is using security settings which are not supported by the Android native Exchange ActiveSync application. Which security settings that your phone model supports depend on firmware version and phone model. If your company runs on security settings that the Android native mail application doesn’t support and you don’t plan to alter the security settings, an alternative is to download any of the dedicated Exchange ActiveSync applications from Google Play store.
New meetings don’t sync?
If you have entered a new meeting in the phone and it doesn’t sync make sure that the meeting has been put into the correct account. When creating a new meeting in the calendar application make sure that you’ve chosen your ActiveSync account as calendar when creating the meeting.
How to use GAL (Global Address List)?
In most of our models you can access the GAL by opening the contacts application and tap the search icon. This will search the Global Address List on your exchange server. Our mail application also searches GAL when typing something in the To: field. Unfortunately we don’t have any default support at the moment for browsing the complete Global Address List.
For more information about what is supported by our Contacts, Calendar and E-mail applications please see this link (Xperia Z, Xperia ZL, Xperia ZR and Xperia Tablet Z). Or this link (Xperia Z1, Xperia Z ultra and Xperia Z1 Compact).

Are you sure that your account is really configured for the ActiveSync protocol? Because we've seen this occur only when using IMAP with Hotmail/Outlook.com.
I suggest that you make sure that the account is configured as POP3 or EAS. Or use their own dedicated app.

Help with Exchange 2007, Active Sync and iPhone 3g - software 2.0.2
Hello good evening and *******
Now that's said, is anyone else having 'issues' with this?
I'm on install number ten of Exchange 2007 and god knows how many different variations of trying to connect to it on the phone. I can get OWA working on the phone and via the web both on the phone and via my home pc, i've had Outlook at home working and i've had Outlook at work working. Honestly when it works, it's seamless and very very quick however i'd like it to work for longer than a day and have some faith that it will do so.
What I keep finding is that for some reason, despite nothing changing on the server or the phone is that Active Sync eventually fails and for no apparent reason. The longest i've had it working is just over a day ( yesterday) and last night it packed up again.
I think it's something to do with certificates / dns but that's purely guesswork as I thought i'd fixed it last time by setting up the FQDN to point at both internal and external network cards on our internal network.
I would also like to point out that Exchange2007 has been working perfectly throughout all of this, it's just the iPhone / ActiveSync part that dies - unsurprisingly this is the most important bit for me as that's the bit our sales force will be relying on when we transfer to exchange.
I'm no Mac 'fan' and i'm not that much in love with Windows but there seems to be something amiss between Apple and Microsoft and due to the iPhones complete lack of diagnostic logging further compounded by silent error messages i'm at a loss to find out where / why / when it's breaking.
Is there a 2.0.3 update due which will address this problem?
In the meantime i'm off to install Exchange ..... again, set up security certificates ... again ..... and see if it will fix what's broken .... againAnd now it's working!!!
I changed the following in IIS.
Default website - Microsoft Server ActiveSync Properties
virtual directory - read access enabled
directory security - integrated windows authentication, digest authentication, basic authentication enabled
realm - set to mydomain.com
Changed the same things for OWA
That appears to have done the trick but i've been here before so i'll see if it stays working over the weekend.
As a phone ... i'm impressed, as a web enabled device, i'm impressed but as a Corporate Tool ..... i've yet to be impressed, largely due to the complexity of integration into exchange. -
