Activity quantities in CK11N

Hello sap gurus
When I try to calculate cost of my product at CK11N, it shows "0" (zero) quantities for my activities.  I checked this from routing screen (ca03), I can see quantities for each activities. So, I have quantity values for each activity in routing screen but somehow they come to CK11N screen as zero.
How can I fix this problem, thanks a lot already.
Best Regards

Dear,
Confirm us one thing.
Do you see the Activity types along with Cost center in CK11N?
Means, Like below
PROD 1000 0
SETUP 1100 0
LBHR 1200 0
Major things to look after is
1. Routing - Cost elements have been included in OKTZ
2. Activity types rates in KP26
3. Activity types - Cost element category - KL02
4. Lot size in Material master - MM03 - Costinf View 1 and CK11N and BOM
5. Costing Variant configuration - OKKN
Verify the above first
Thanks

  • What's the diff betweeen Direct & Indirect Activity All

    Hello Experts,
please lemme know the diff between Direct Activity Allocation & Indirect Activity Allocation.

    Hi Hussein,
Direct Activity Allocation and Indirect Activity Allocation
    Hi Joshi,
Direct activity allocation involves the measuring, recording, and allocating of business services performed. To do this, you must create the relevant (measurable) tracing factors (allocation bases which can be used as cost drivers). In Cost Center Accounting these are known as activity types. Activity allocation occurs, for example, when business transactions are confirmed or when posting activity quantities to accounts. The system multiplies the activity produced by the price of the activity type.
To do so, for the cost centers or business processes involved, you must plan activity types either using prices set manually or using subsequent iterative price calculation.
If the receiver of the activity allocation is not a cost object (such as, cost center, business process, or internal order), then the following applies: If no price was set manually, then the plan price is used. If you have not executed an iterative price calculation, then the manually set price for the activity type is used for direct activity allocation (the price in the plan/actual (000) version).
If the receiver of the activity allocation is a cost object (such as, a production order or a product cost collector), then the price used for valuation is determined according to the valuation variant (which is linked to the cost object for the simultaneous costing via the costing variant). If the receiving cost object is not linked to a costing variant for the simultaneous costing, then the plan price for the valuation period is used.
The service cost center "Plumbers" (1000) performs 2 hours of the activity type "Repairs" for production cost center "H" (5000). The plan price for the repairs activity type is USD 15 per hour. In direct activity allocation, this price is valuated as follows:
    2 hrs X 15 USD/hr = 30 USD
The u201CPlumbersu201D cost center is credited with this amount and the HI production cost center is debited correspondingly.
Indirect activity allocation can be used to automatically allocate planned and actual activities.
You can specify keys to allocate activity, which is not possible when you use manual activity input in the plan or actual activity allocation. In addition, if calculating the sender activity quantities involves too much time or expense, the system can determine the activity quantity inversely based on the activity of the receivers.
If you execute indirect activity allocation without completing planning for the combination cost center/activity type, you must activate the actual price indicator in the activity type master data.
A special type of indirect activity allocation for actual allocation is the plan=actual activity allocation. In contrast to other types of indirect activity allocation, the plan=actual activity allocation allows for a multiple level activity network to be determined iteratively with the operating rate as the tracing factor.
You can choose between two methods of indirect activity allocation, depending on the activity types category. These methods are determined for each segment and can be combined in one cycle.
Activity quantities can be determined on the sender object:
For certain activity types you can determine the total activity quantity for each sender. These are category 3 activity types, Manual entry, indirect allocation.
Using indirect activity allocation, these posted activity quantities are distributed by the senders among the receivers defined in the segment according to their allocation bases. The corresponding segment must use the sender rule Posted quantities. Any receiver rule can be used, with the exception of Fixed quantities.
The Quality control cost center uses 1000 hours of the Testing activity type. This cost center provides activity for the cost centers Goods receipt and Finished products. Allocations are made on the basis of the tracing factor Number of test items (TI). These are 4000 items for the Goods receipt cost center and 6000 items for Finished products. This corresponds to an activity input of 400 hours for Goods receipt and 600 hours for Finished products.
The price per activity unit for the Quality control cost center is 50 USD/hr. This results in activity output costs of 50,000 USD. The receiver cost centers are debited with the following costs based on the tracing factor TI.
    Goods receipt: (50,000 USD X 4000 TI) / 10,000 TI = 20,000 USD
    Finished products: (50,000 USD X 6.000 TI) / 10,000 TI = 30,000 USD
Pls revert back for futher explanation...

  • Use of activity types and cost splitting

    Hi All,
We would like to track activities for cost centers, but don't necessarily have the need for a sending cost center/object.  I understand in a traditional manufacturing set-up, you have sending and receiving cost objects that incorporate the use of activities.  Our business is a service that we provide, not a tangible product that we produce.
Here is the scenario.  We have activities that a cost center performs.  Cost center 1 will perform 2 types of "pick-up" activities, so this would require two activity types.  Throughout the course of the month, the activity quantities would get posted to the cost center.  So my first question is how can you post only quantities to a cost center--what is the t-code?  We're not concerned with incorporating an activity price, we just want quantities.
Second, as primary costs get posted to the cost center in FI, we want to split the costs onto the activities.  I have researched t-code KSS2 and can't seem to split the primary costs based on the activity quantities.  It keeps refering to target costs, which I don't really want to have to worry about.
What we're trying to do is a makeshift ABC scenario.  Since the use of true abc seems almost non-existent, there's not much info out there on it.  Does anybody have any good docs on abc in SAP?
    Thanks
    Kory Squire

    Hi,
    1. I understood your case in this way .
Cost Center A performs 2 activities . The cost center collects cost by Fi posting through out the month.
Now you want the activity type should nt have price , only it should have quantities.
And now you want to allocate the cost of the cost center to other object by activity types.
    If i am right..
then instead of activity types why not create SKF(statistical key figures) . At the month end by t.code Kb31n post the activity qts. for combination of cost center and SKFs.
Then as per your requirement run allocation cycle.
The kind of you are planning , in that case activity types to be converted as cost object ( it can be done in control area setting) and then you want to allocate.. seems to be little complicated..
Hope i understood and in turn i conveyed the message properly..

  • Activity Type at cost center

    Hi All,
Is Activity types are used only at production cost centers or u can use for any material use in general, i mean, Say i ahve 2 machinerys, i spend bearings and oil for repairs, i called this activity as antifriction. i issue bearings and oil towards this activty to machinery cost center. now i want a report like how much cost i spend on antifriction activity for machine 1 & 2. How should i map my cost ceners to get this report. Can any body tell me what exactly activty types used for?
    Thanks in advance
    Sarayu.

    Hi
Activity types classify the activities produced in the cost centers within a controlling area. To plan and allocate the activities, the system records quantities that are measured in activity units. Activity quantities are valuated using a price (allocation price).
In Overhead Cost Controlling, costs based on the activity type are posted separately in fixed and variable portions. When you divide the activities of a cost center into activity types, you should consider whether the costs can be allocated effectively to the activity types.
You can plan, allocate, and control costs either at the activity type level of a cost center, or at the cost center level.
You can also assign the activity type of a cost center directly example: deprecitation postings.
You can assign one activity type, multiple activity types, or no activity types to a cost center.
    I hope this helps.
    Regards
    Kavitha

  • What is Cost Center and Activity type

Can any one make me understand Conseptually, what is Cost Center and Activity Type

<b>Cost Center:</b>A cost centers is an organizational unit within a controlling area that represents a clearly delimited area of responsibility where costs are monitored against a budget.
Cost centers represent areas of responsibility (management areas) that generate and influence costs.
Cost centers are the locations at which the costs are incurred
<b>Activity types</b> describe activities produced by a cost center. They are measured in units of time or quantity. Activity quantities are valuated using a price.
For example: the maintenance department provides maintenance service at a labor hourly rate of SAR 2000 or USD 1000.
When the activities produced by a cost center are used by other cost centers, orders or projects, this means that the resources of the sending cost center are being used by the receiver objects.
By recording the planned and actual quantities consumed, you reallocate cost incurred on the sender into the receivers.
Activity Types can be grouped to facilitate reporting and cost allocation.
Hope it clears your basic doubt on Cost center and Activity type

  • Actual Activity Price Calculation

    Dear Gurus,
    1. I have defined activity type say "Power" through KL01
    2. Maintained the planned price through KP26 for the cost center which is going to use this activity type. say
        cost center is "CCTR1"
    3. Now there is something as actual activity price calculation at period end
    4. When i execute through KSII i get the actual price which is the debited cost elements of the "CCTR1"
divided by the Activity Type "Power"
    5. The debit balance of cost elements in "CCTR1"  is Rs 10000 and activity type consumed through process
order is 200 KWH, hence the Actual price comes to Rs 50 Rs/KWH. While the planned price in KP26 is
        Rs 6/KWH
    How logical is this....
    With Regards,
    Amit

    Hi Amit,
Let me give some insight into the Activity price calculation and cost obsorption from Cost Center to Prodcution
    1. Normally we incur the production cost through FI like Direct Labor, Power, Indirect Labour and other indirectct production overheads
    2. This cost is posted to Production Cost Centers
    3. Now this cost need to be obsorbed to product cost using either Activity costing through Routing or Overhead costing using costing sheet.
Since you question is for Activity costing, let us focus only on activity price and absorption to Product Cost
    1. All the direct cost that can be tracked with certain reasonability with activity types can be absorbed through activity costing to product costing
    2. Now in your case, take for example - the industry you are working is power intensive, then we can track the consumption of Power using activity costing
    3. At the first instance, you need to forcast the activity quantities for the month (based on the production planning)
    4. Based on this, you forecast the cost that would be incurred for the expected output
    5. Calculate planned Acvitiy Unit price and update it in KP26. The updation can be manual or automatic (using Cost Splitting and Price Calculation in case of Activity independant cost planning)
    6. For all the activity confirations to the production/process order, the cost obsorption will take place based on the planned price
    Actual
    7. The cost of the power will be booked in FI and posted to Production Cost Center for the month.
    8. The actual Activity quantity will be booked from Production confirmation for the month
    9. At the end of the month, you need to do the actual price calculation.  This calculation will be based on the TOTAL COST BOOKED FOR THE MONTH TOWARDS POWER FOR THAT COST CENTER DEVIDED BY TOTAL QUANTITY CONSUMPTION RECORDED IN THE COST CENTER
    10. Once this is done, You can revaluate the activity quanitities booked on each of the production order.
This is how the activity cost aborption will take place in product costing
Please let me know if you need further details in this regard

  • Activity Types and Cost Centres

Our PP is not yet live now.
While going through the system settings, it is found that many activities (approx. 15 for indirect expenses also) are planned in the Production Cost Centres.
However, these activities are not included in the master data of the Work Centre. Only one activity type is mentioned there for machining.
Then, what is the purpose of other activity types planned if they are not mentioned in the Work Centre ?
Is there any other way these activity costs will appear in the Cost report ?

    Hi,
You are almost on the right line, activity quantities will be triggered in the  cost center report based on the routing master and through  the confirmation from the production orders.
For the creation of the  work center - Activity Planning KP26 is required. Cost center/Activity
where we can plan the activity quantities.
Prior to that KP06 is required to plan the  primary cost combination of (Cost Element/Cost center/Activity Type) where we can plan the cost.
Based on the above information we can calculate the plan price - KSPI
Based on the confirmation from the production orders activity quantities will be updated in the center report. cost will be updated with actual postings in the cost center.
So that you can calculate the actual activity price.

  • Activity Price in Cost Component Structure

    Hi,
After costing run I have updated Activity Price in KP26.. I want to see latest activity price in Cost component structure e.g. Labour Activity and Machine Activity..cost for this a)  Is it require re-costing run? b) how can we calculate activity price? e.g. total base qty/confirmed qty *no.of hrs.  can you please corret me my formula I have maintain in KP26 capcity 500 and fixed price 10. I am able to see machine hrs. 6 in Resource data..
    Thanks
    Srinu

    Hi Srinu,
Do you mean that, just after changing the KP26 values, u are expecting the same to reflect in your cost component structure of materials? KP26 is only to plan the price of an activity type in a cost center. This will be applicable for the future period. ie when operations are confirmed in production orders in future, this costs will be absorbed to the production order.
Use  S_ALR_87013611 or similar reports for actual activity prices(debits) and actual activity quantities. Former divided by later will give you the actual per unit activity price for the last period.( in case of 1 to 1 relationship between cost center and activity).

  • Activity types-- urgent help

    Hello SAP Gurus,
I need urgent help. Every production cost center has two activities labor minutes and machine minutes which have been provided by the PP guy in routing. I have defined the two activity types and have assigned planned price to them in KP26 for each cost center.
But the planned cost of the production order is not coming when ever an order is saved. It is taking the material cost but not the planned activity cost or not showing up.
Please tell me what have I done wrong.
    I will assign points immediately.
    Thanks,

  • Activity Type Master Data

In Activity Type master data we found these options allocation cost element feild.
    1     Manual entry, manual allocation
    2     Indirect determination, indirect allocation
    3     Manual entry, indirect allocation
    4     Manual entry, no allocation
What is its relevance? . When to select what?.
    Please give example.

    Hi,
We are using an activity type for Direct labour. eg of how we have defined the Master Data is below:
    ATyp category - 1
1 is selected if Activity types use plan activity quantities. If you are going to plan the quantities for Activity type thru KP26 and then the Activity cost thru KP06 before calculating the Activity price thru KSPI, select 1.
    Price indicator - 1
    Act. price indicator - 5

  • Activity price calculation without activity not possible.

    Hi,
    I got the following error when I execute KSII ;
Activity price calculation without activity not possible.
    Message no. KP230
    Diagnosis
A program error occurred during activity price calculation. The SAP System could not determine the activity price for activity type 250902 in cost center 25093015 because only costs were entered, not activity quantities. The SAP System calculates the activity price by dividing the costs by the activity quantity.
    System Response
The SAP System sets the activity price to zero.
    Procedure
    Inform your system administrator.
Please advice why the error occured?

    Hi SAP Genes,
I am finding an error in One of our Product line "HPI India" where our Cost of Sales Accounting actual COGS cost is very less in comparison with the standard as in the past.as it is marked, as expected as we set it up in the begining of the Year we use Standard Cost we use Aug-July FY, only we are facing this error for this FY 11-12.
Please take a look at the COGS for HPI. which is marked in Blue all these cost are Highlited,  The actual COGS cost is very less in comparison with the standard as in the past.
And for rest of the Product Line item is working fine,
Please suggest me the cause, i am attaching the Analysis sheet as well for your guidance.

  • Activity Quanty Factor in ALM_ME_NOTIFICATION_CREATE

I am using BAPI ALM_ME_NOTIFICATION_CREATE to create notifications.  While this BAPI supports the creation of Activities, it does not handle the entry of the "Activity Quantity Factor" field, aka: QMMA-MNGFA.
The BAPI input structure ALM_ME_NOTIF_ACTIVITY does not include this field.
Has anyone attempted to insert this value when creating notifications programmatically?
    Any suggestions would be appreciated.

    Problem solved with FM IQS4_CREATE_NOTIFICATION.
This allows for activity quantities to be entered to the activity records on a notification.
