Adaptive Webservice model for asynchronous web services

Hi ,
While tring to use adaptive Webservice model, using WSDL provided by XI, i was geting the error, Cannot load NameSpaces and ModelClasses . Details of the error can be found in

Later when the WSDL was created having other req & resp params, the model got created successfully. Now my question is :
Can't an adaptive Webservice model be created for asynchronous webservices??. Should the Webservice always be synchronous in nature for creating adaptive webservice model???

Does ws adapter only work with asynchronous web service?

Hi all,
can you please confirm whether or not ws adapter (PI 7.1) only works with asynchronous web service?
I have created an async. outbound service interface in PI 7.1, generated the client proxy in ECC, created an web service based on the proxy, wrote a test program to call the web service (PI scenario uses ws adapter in the sender CC). Everything works fine.
Then I did the same thing with sync. outbound service interface. I got exception while calling the web service in ECC.
I've heard that ws adapter is designed for async. communication. Does it mean that it won't work with sync. web service?
I haven't seen any official SAP document saying taht ws adapter only works for async. web service. If you have any, can you please share it?

Thank you all for your information.
The error I got when calling the proxy with logical port (web service) is:
SOAP:1,007 SRT: Unsupported xstream found: ("HTTP Code 404 : Not Found")
I will debug it to see what exactly happens. And will keep you guys updated.
Just debugged, the error is because the http header's content type is text/html while it should be test/xml. However this type is set by the ws runtime, not by the application. Anybody has an idea about this?

Web Service Model for ABAP Web Service

Hi,
I have developed ABAP web service and called it using web service model in WD. The WS is working from WSNavigator. While calling it from WD, im getting the following exception:
Service call exception; nested exception is:
com.sap.engine.services.webservices.jaxrpc.exceptions.InvalidResponseCodeException: Invalid Response Code: (502) Proxy Error ( No data record is available ).
Is some setting required in R/3 where WS is created or on WAS where the WDAppl is deployed?

Please try the following:
Go to Web Service model
Logical Port
Uncheck "Use HTTP Proxy" settings..
Also make sure the WAS has entry of R/3 in hosts files..

Create adaptive web service model for a web dynpro project

I have been trying to create a new new adaptive web service model for a web dynpro project.I am using the URL of the wsdl file to create the model. I have copied the url link of the wsdl from the overview tab of the web services navigator. The web service works fine when tested through the Netweaver Navigator. This web service has also been used successfully through the Visual Composer. But when I try to create a model for this web service URL, when I click the Next button after entering the URL in the model creation wizard step 4 , I get "Error loading wsdl file. Check error log for details" Given below is the exception recorded in the error log: (Infact, I get this for all wsdl URLs)

My version was

I was able to successfully import the model after I did the following
1. Re intsall Studion (same version , same build)
2. Reset the proxy settings to not use Proxy server

How to create asynchronous web services in OSB 11g?

Hi,
Using the workbench, when I try to create a web service from an existing WSDL, the workbench automatically uses JAX-WS.
JAX-WS does not offer support for asynchronous web services, since it supports only HTTP ports (@WLJmsTransport does not work).
Request your help in resolving this issue. One way is to use JAX-RPC but I do not know how to configure the workbench to use JAX-RPC instead of JAX-WS.

I just ran into this issue, same exact problem.
The quick and dirty workaround I did, after trying out several other things to make sure I didn't do anything wrong to cause this problem, was to just catch the nullpointer, and then go along my merry way.

OWSM and Webservices -Define policies once for multiple web services

I thought that through using OWSM we had the possibility to use the same Policy Lines for multiple web services.
Mostly when web services are used/integrated within an application, the same rules need to be defined and I thought this requirement could be met when using OWSM.
But you need to define the policy requirements on each web service that's passing through a gateway or agent, why isn't it supported to define policy lines one level higher to be able to use the same requirements for multiple web services?

For this purpose OWSM allows you to use Template Policy Pipelines.
For individual services, you can than replace the pipeline with the Template.
But I have to agree with you here: the templating functions are rough on the edges, e.g. limited editing capabilities.

I have been using Deprecated web service model. But now my application is moving to Test. So in order not to change the URL of the webservice model in the Test, i tried with the Adaptive webservice model. But when i try to import the model its saying " Error in loading WSDL file. Check the error log for more details." Please help me out in this.

Solved. Issue was with the xml schema of the web service.

I want to import a Web Service model from a wsdl file that i have on my local machine.
I tried importing adaptive webservice model but its nowhere asking for local file.

Hi Amey,
you have to create and configure "Metadata" and "Execution" destinations.
On Net weaver Administrator (http://hostname:portnumber/nwa) navigate to SOA Management u2013 Technical Configuration u2013 Destination Template Management u2013 Create Destination.
you have to enter the following parameters for both destinations:
Name:
Destination Type:
URL:
System: ABAP
System Name:
Host Name:
Installation Number:
Client:
After configuring the destinations, you can test them on Web Service Navigator (http://hostname:portnumber/wsnavigator).
On Web Service Navigator select "Search by Logical Destination" button and search in your destination.
If you can see on the search results your service, this means the destination is configured properly.

Help required using adaptive webservice Model

I am importing an adaptive webservice model in webdynpro using a URL. When asked i choose no logical destinations - use WSDL URL for metadataretrieval and webservice execution.
The webservice exports one function only:

In my component controller wdInit() i have the following code:

Any examples on Adaptive Webservice Models?

RequestDetailsData is the node to which I need to set values and execute it.
Example :
wdContext.currentRequestDetailsDataElement().setRequestReason(wdContext.currentContextElement().getReqReason());
I have debugged and found that wdContext.currentRequestDetailsDataElement() is null
Before setting values to this node do i need to write any code like create new node or new element
Can any provide sample examples on Adaptive Webservice Models

Validation of context attributes with adaptive webservice model

Hi, I am creating a Web Dynpro Java application (on top of Netweaver AS 7.0) using an adaptive webservice model to invoke a webservice.
The webservice has some request attributes of type string with limited length (for example limited to 1 character). I bound the model to component controller context and created a mapping between the component controller context and view context. In the view, I created a form which is bound to the context attributes.
When user enters string values, which are longer than the maximum length specified in webservice WSDL, and submits the form, an exception is thrown when Web Dynpro runtime is trying to assign entered values into context attributes:

This exception is thrown before my non-validating action is executed, so I am not able to prevent it or handle it.
Is there any way how to catch this exception or prevent it?
Does anyone know where these model restrictions are stored? I searched the XML files generated for the model, but I haven't found anything. Does the Web Dynpro runtime access WSDL everytime it needs to validate request parameters?

No ,This is the preferred and safer way to separate the Model Node and and Input Node and relationship between them by using mapping.
You create your context structure for input and then on action set user input to model data.
Safer it means : Sometimes it happen that model data not populated properly due to network or wrong user input etc ,this time our presentation will be safe and display the proper error message rather the screen went away with null pointer exception.
Regarding your - it require a lot of work. It too much convince for us that rather than writing 50 lines of code
for only input length validation WebDynpro provides us a better model driven solution.
