Add 3D Content using script

Is there a way to script the addition of a 3D model to a pdf using the 3D tool "add 3D content".
I am trying to semi-automate the addition of 3D models as follows
User opens existing pdf form (template)
User starts a script using a button
Button code selects existing 3D model and brings up the Edit 3D content or add 3D content
User selects model.
I guess I don't see the API's for the 3D (model tool) in the reference, only the 3D annotations

Alastair,
Javascript intentionally has no File I/O. This is for security purposes. If you want to control the App externally, you can actually do this just fine using Windows Scripting Host and JScript or VBScript. I do this for automation testing all the time. You must create the "File Sytem Object" and "WScript.Shell" in JScript, and then can control Acrobat (or any other App) extensively using "SendKeys".
This is all probably a bit much, but I was trying to give you a workaround if you reeeeeally wanted to make this happen automatically!

    It is very hard to debug code I haven't seen. If you are getting the URL in your text view, you must be handling the drag operation correctly. Instead of putting the pasteboard data into the text view, get the file's contents and put that into the text view.
    Also can you give me a sample code on how to open files in coccoa, how to read the contents of that file?
    Look at NSString's "stringWithContentsOfFile:encoding:error:"

    I can tell you that this is some of the absolutely worst customer service I have ever dealt with. I found out from a store employee that when they are really busy with calls, they have third party companies taking overflow calls. One of those companies is Xerox. What can a Xerox call center rep possibly be able to authorize on a Verizon account?  I'm Sure there is a ton of misinformation out there due to this. They don't note the accounts properly or so everyone can see them. I have been transferred before and have asked if they work for Verizon or a third party also and was refused an answer so, apparently they aren't required to disclose that information. I spent a long time in the store on my last visit and it's not just customers that get the runaround. It happens to the store employees as well and it's beyond frustrating.

    Another suggestion, the following VI is a wrapper for Traverse for GObjects VI and allows you to specify the name of the object you want. I always use this VI, I never use the Open VI Object Reference function, for the reasons tst mentioned:

  • How to add composition to Media Encoder using Script?

    On AE CS6 I used to add compositions to render queue using scripts. (jsx). Since Adobe depreciated some encoders scripts can not use those presents. I want to switch to Adobe Encoder and I want to add compositions to its queue using scripts.
    Is there a way to tell adobe to add certain composition to Adobe Encoder queue using jsx script?
    Is there any scripting guide for Adobe CC?

    You will probably have to resort to calling the respective menu command and/ or write your own AME render list. I'm not aware of any specific support or commands for this otherwise, though presumably one might be able to intercept the stuff sent between the programs and build a little helper utility to mimic this functionality....

    Hi Rob,
    From the screen shots it looks like your script is not formatted properly (you may refer to 'Paladin Script' in 'Sample Project' to get an idea of how the script should be formatted.).
    Further please follow the steps mentioned below to use Story to PP workflow.
    Create a new Film script in Adobe Story
    Create  scene heading – INT. LOCATION – Day (these will show up in the outline view panel on left hand side)
    Hit enter, hit TAB
    Enter the name of the speaker, hit TAB or ENTER
    Copy over the transcribed text
    Build your script this way
    Number scenes from the production menu
    Export ASTX file for your script : File->Export->.astx
    Open Premiere Pro
    Create a new project, bring in media
    In the project pane, find the "Scene" column
    For the clip that contains the spoken text, assign the same scene number to the clip as you have in the story script (lets say both are scene 1)
    Click out of the scene box in the project panel in Ppro
    Right click on the scene that you just assigned a scene number to and select – attach Story script
    Select the .astx fle you exported in step 8
    Click ok
    You should now see the script data in the metadata panel for the clip in the metadata panel.
    You can now run speech to text based on "Embedded Script metadata" to time align spoken word to the script.
    Let us know if this is helpful.

  • Powershell to add/delete content type to particular library alone in a site collection

    Hi,
    I am trying to add and delete content type from a particular picture library (site collection) using powershell.
    I have tried the below, but it is not working.
    Below scenarios are not working:
    1) If the content type to be added is there in library, then the loop is still moving to "No content type exists".
    2) Content type is not getting deleted from library
    3) Set the newly added content type as default content type.
    Below is the powershell, which I am trying:
    function ChangeContentType($url)
    $site = Get-SPSite($url);
    $web =$site.RootWeb
    $lookForList = "PicLibrary"
    $lookForCT = "Img1ContentType"
    $lookForRemoveCT = "Image2CT"
    write-host "Checking site:"$web.Title
    #Make sure content types are allowed on the list specified
    $docLibrary = $web.Lists[$lookForList]
    if ($docLibrary -ne $null)
    $docLibrary.ContentTypesEnabled = $true
    $docLibrary.Update()
    if (($web.ContentTypes | where { $web.Name -eq $lookForCT }) -eq $null)
    write-host "No content type exists with the name" $lookForCT "on list" $docLibrary.Title
    #Add site content types to the list
    write-host "Adding content type " $lookForCT "on list" $docLibrary.Title

    How to fix this?
    Thanks

    Hi,
    Thanks for the reply.
    I checked it. If the script is run multiple times, the add and delete content type will throw error.
    How to delete content type? I have tried the below:

    $docLibrary.ContentTypesEnabled = $true
    $docLibrary.Update()
    #get the content Type

    $docLibrary.Update()
    else
    write-host "No content type exists with the name" $lookForRemoveCT "on list" $docLibrary.Title

  • I want to open "Paragraph Style Options" dialogue using Script(jsx)

    Hi,
    I have created a paragraph style using JSX.
    var myDocument = app.activeDocument;
    var myParagraphStyle = myDocument.paragraphStyles.item("myParagraphStyle");
    Now I want to edit my paragraph style using the "Paragraph Style Options" window. How can I open the window for myParagraphStyle using JSX?
    Is there any way to do it? I don't want to manually double click the name in the list to open it.

    @kapoor_aman27 – with a little trick we could select a distinct paragraph style in the Paragraphs Style panel.
    Add a new text frame to the document, add some contents, one character is sufficient. Format its contents with your paragraph style. Set the Paragraph Styles panel to visible. Select the text in the text frame with something like that: app.select(myTextFrame.texts[0]). Remove the text frame; the paragraph style stays selected in the panel.
    The next step would be to invoke the "Paragraph Style Options" panel. The id for the appropriate scriptMenuAction is 8481.
    try{
    app.scriptMenuActions.itemByID(8481).invoke();
    }catch(e){$.writeln(e.message)};
    But unfortunately this would throw an error. Something like this:
    (Error message in German:)
    "Mit der angeforderten Aktion wurde ein asynchrones, modales Dialogfeld geöffnet,
    für das eine Vorschau erstellt werden kann.
    Dies ist nicht mit der Skriptarchitektur kompatibel, daher wurde das Dialogfeld
    mit der Standardschaltfläche automatisch verworfen."
    (Roughly translated to English:)
    "An asynchronous, modal dialog box was opened by this action.
    A preview can be created with that dialog box.
    This is not compatible with the scripting architecture, therefore the dialog box
    with the standard button was automatically rejected."
    So I see no chance to do what you want.
    (Tested with inDesign CS5.5 on Mac OSX 10.6.8)
    Don't know, if that behavior has changed for more recent versions of inDesign…

  • Using scripting with networking equipment under Windows

    It can be a challenge to use scripting to automate working with Cisco devices. The Cisco IOS does not seem to directly provide a command line interface. You are forced to find a way to automate interaction with a telnet or ssh session.
    The PERL language provides a number of object-oriented methods to help manage an interactive session, most notably Net::SSH::Expect and Net::Appliance::Session. These options can work well in a Unix environment, but not under MS Windows.
    There are PERL for Windows options, the best probably being Strawberry PERL. There is also a Unix under Windows option known as CYGWIN that is freely available. Unfortunately none of these will work well with the way Windows manages low-level terminal I/O. The curious can google "windows pseudo terminal" to see all the technical details.
    One way that does work under Windows is Tcl.  It was initially named Tool Command Language. It is sometimes shown as Tcl/Tk.
    Interestingly enough, Tcl is included within Cisco IOS as tclsh. There is no interaction with the tclsh and this example. It is just a bit of a curious coincidence.
    A Tcl port to Windows can be downloaded from http://www.activestate.com/activetcl/downloads. Select Download ActiveTCL for Windows. A direct link to the download that worked at the time of writing is Download ActiveTcl 8.5.14 for Windows (x86)
    Once base Tcl has been downloaded and installed there is one other component that will need to be installed from the Tcl Extension Archive, the expect package.
    The teacup program that is installed with the base Tcl package makes this easy. The teacup program will work with a proxy.
    You can set these Windows environment variables to specify proxy details:
    set http_proxy=
    set http_proxy_user=
    set http_proxy_pass=
    Then run teacup install expect
    The plink tool from the PuTTY download is also needed. It can be obtained from http://www.putty.org/.
    The sample that follows assumes that the data files, script and plink.exe executable all reside in the same directory.
    A sample Tcl script follows that reads a file of devices and a file of commands. It will run the list of commands against each device in the device file. It has some basic error checking, but should best be considered a ‘beta’ version. You could do more complex interactions in the Tcl script by adding exp_send and expect command statements. In short, if you can type it you could script it!
    Change directory to where your script, plink.exe  and data is stored and run with  tclsh <script_name>
    devices.list

  • How can I add new content in iDVD to a DVD-RW disc which has ample remaining free space? After preparing the new video for burning and clicking on Burn to iDVD, I get a window saying the disc's already recorded and that I can either Erase or Eject.

    How can I add new content in iDVD to a DVD-RW disc with a video previously successfully recorded on it? (The disc has ample remaining free space.)
    After preparing the new video for burning and clicking in the File menu on Burn to iDVD, I get a window saying the disc's already recorded and that I can either Erase or Eject. My assumption has been that iDVD would automatically find the free space and continue with the new recording from there. I'd be grateful if anyone can shine light on this.

    There are, but not with a DVD written as a movie disk. It must be closed when completed, or it doesn't work.
    Apple's built in Burn utility also automatically closes any data CD, DVD or Blu-ray disk you burn. Doesn't matter how much space is unused, you can't use it. You'd have to use a more advanced disk creation app, such as Toast Titanium. I then have the option of choosing to write the data as a session:
    I can keep doing this until the disk is full. If I've written five sessions to the disk, when I put it in the drive, five CD/DVD icons will appear on the desktop since the OS will treat each session as if they are separate physical disks. At any point you choose Write Disk when writing a group of data, that means you're closing the disk, and again can't add anything after that. So if I had written two sessions, and the third was Write Disk, it's over. I can't put anything else on that disk.

  • Is it possible to add a property using variable in variable name?

    I want to query for a list of virtual machines within a folder, then create a menu of the host names using forms.  Since the list of machines is subject to change, I want to build the list each time the script is run, rather than build off a static
    list.
    For each virtual machine I need to create the list of variables below:
    $hostnameX = New-Object System.Windows.Forms.checkbox
    $hostnameX.Location = New-Object System.Drawing.Size(10,20)
    $hostnameX.Size = New-Object System.Drawing.Size(100,20)
    $hostnameX.Checked = $true
    $hostnameX.Text = "Type"
    $hostnameX.Controls.Add($hostnameX)
    The location and size values need to be incremented but I think I can figure that part out.
    I can use New-Variable to generate the initial variable. But I receive errors using the same method to try to create a new property for the variable.
    $VMS = Get-Cluster MyCLUS | Get-vApp "My vApp" | Get-VM | Select Name,PowerState | Sort Name
    For ($i=0; $i -lt ($VMS.count); $i++)
    $VMS[$i].Name
    $VMGUEST = "$($VMS[$i].Name)" -replace("-","")
    New-Variable "CB$VMGUEST" "New-Object System.Windows.Forms.checkbox"
    New-Variable "CB$VMGUEST.Location" "New-Object System.Drawing.Size(10,20)"
    In the above, $CBVMGUEST1 =  New-Object System.Windows.Forms.checkbox which is what I want,  but $CBVMGUEST1.Location is not set.
    Is there way to add a property using a variable in the variable name?  Or any other suggestions on how to tackle this issue?

    Hi,
    maybe another approach is a bit easier.
    Use a hash-array like
    $CB = @{}
    $CB[$VMGUEST] = New-Object System.Windows.Forms....
    $CB[$VMGUEST].Location = New-Object System.Drawing....
    Mit freundlichen Grüßen Jens Kalski
    That's the correct answer.  Anytime you find yourself wanting to create variables named "Widget1", "Widget2", "Widget3", etc... it's a pretty clear indication that what you really need is a collection object of some sort.  That might be an array,
    a hashtable, or any other data structure for holding other objects, depending on your specific needs.

  • Create a counter for the rows in a table using script editor?

    Hi ,
    I want to add afield in a particular table  with first field is its serial number . How to use scripting editor to fill the serial number ?
    How to create a counter ?
    Edited by: Rajan.Dexter9 on Jan 30, 2012 9:40 PM

    Hello Rajan,
    Create a field in the table and name it as 'SERIAL'.  Create a variable called 'count' with default value as 0.  Now in script editor, for javascript language and calculate event, write the following script.
    var fields = xfa.layout.pageContent(xfa.layout.page(this)-1, "field", 0);
    for (var i=0; i <= fields.length-1; i++)
         if (fields.item(i).name == "SERIAL")
              count.value = count.value + 1;
                     this.rawValue = count.value;

  • How to get the handle of all text fields in the subforms, using script

    Hi Friends,
    I have around 20 fields in a subform, how can i get the names of all the fields using script.
    I wish to enhance the following script where the field names are hard coded
    thereby the script itself will get the names of the field names.
    var f1 = this.parent.somExpression + ".TextField2" + ",";
    var f2 = f1 + this.parent.somExpression + ".DropDownList1" + ",";
    var f3 = f2 + this.parent.somExpression + ".NumericField1";
    xfa.host.resetData(f3);
    Any help will be greatly appreciated..
    Thanks
    JJ

    Hi Paul,
    Thanks for your comments.
    I achieved the clear contents by resetting, by taking input from your thoughts..
    form1.sub1.sub2.sub3.table_1.addDelete_Top.addDelete.deleteRow::click - (JavaScript, client)
    //Here is my code finally look like..
    //row 1, table_1 are also subforms
    for (var i=1;i<10;i++){
    var myRow = this.resolveNode("table_1.row1[" + i + "]");
    if(myRow.presence == "hidden"){
    i = i-1;
    var myRowDelete = this.resolveNode("table_1.row1[" + i + "]");
    if(i!=0){
    xfa.host.resetData(myRowDelete.somExpression);
    myRowDelete.presence = "hidden";
    break;
    if(i==9){
    xfa.host.resetData(myRow.somExpression);
    myRow.presence = "hidden";
    break;
    Thanks
    JJ

  • Add a for each script to loop through HTTPService?

    I'm using Flash Builder 4 with the Flex 4.1 SDK.  I want to add a "for each" script to loop through my HTTPService XML file so only each nepName displays only once in my dropdown list.  In my XML file I have multiple records associated with nepName.  I would like ALL the records associated with each nepName to populate in my datagrid when it is selected from the dropdown.  Currently in my dropdown there is a nepName entry for each XML tag.  I hope I was able to explain that well enough. I'll try to put my code below so you can see everything I'm working with.
    MXML:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
    <s:Application xmlns:fx="http://ns.adobe.com/mxml/2009"

                   xmlns:mx="library://ns.adobe.com/flex/mx" minWidth="955" minHeight="600"
                   creationComplete="nepInfo.send()">
