Add bcc or cc after sending an email

Quite often I send out an email to a group of people and then wish I had bcc'ed another person in for information. What I usually do is resend it with just that person as an addressee, and stick a note at the top of it explaining what I am doing.
However, what would be really nice is to have a feature whereby one can send an email again so just that person gets it, but it has the original header just as if they had been copied in the first place.

Hello,
You can ask for a delivery receipt by this way:
In terminal app, enter:
defaults write com.apple.mail UserHeaders '{"Disposition-Notification-To" = "[email protected]"; }'
where [email protected] is the account mail adress.
This work fine except that it'll don't work if you send a mail to... Apple mail or some other apps that don't support receipt, but using this tip you'll sometime receive read notification
If terminal is a trouble, use notification4mail you can find at http://www.logimac.net/index.html .

Fred

Are you running OS X Server here?   (This question was originally posted in the OS X Server forum, but you're not referencing your OS X Server version or related details.  Which leads me to suspect you might not be running OS X Server here.)
If you are not running OS X Server here and are using hosted email, you can use Connection Doctor within Mail.app to take a look at the connection processing that is occuring within Mail.app, but I'd suspect you are running into a mail server problem, or a mail server sending limit; possibly a mail-flood limit of some sort.
Please contact your hosting provider for assistance with this.
If you are running OS X Server and wish to troubleshoot this...
Bad DNS is a common cause of mail server errors.
Do not use a .local domain for your mail server DNS services, and do not use your ISP DNS.
To check this, launch terminal.app from Applications > Utilities and issue the following (harmless, diagnostic, no changes performed) command and see if there are DNS or network issues:
    sudo changeip -checkhostname
You'll need to provide a privileged password, and you might get a one-time message about sudo use, and you'll then get an indication that no changes are required, or that there are DNS or network errors.
To check public DNS, issue the following commands, replacing example.com with your domain, and mail.example.net with whatever is returned by the first command, and 10.20.30.40 with whatever is returned by tge second command.
    dig +short @8.8.8.8 MX example.com
    dig +short @8.8.8.8 mail.example.net
    dig +short @8.8.8.8 -x 10.20.30.40
The host name returned by the third command should match the host name used for the second command.  (The 8.8.8.8 IP address is a Google DNS server, and the @ reference to that will bypass any local DNS setup you are using.)
To check the mail server itself, launch Console.app from Applications > Utilities and see what the mail server is chatting about — if anything — when the failures occur.  Expurgate any private information and post a small representative sample of just the error — please don't dump a hundred lines of log output here.

  • Address Book contact info changes after sending an email to contact

So this issue has plagued me for some time and I have finally just been annoyed enough by it to ask.
I have a contact for my mom which used to be her first name and last name which I later changed to just "Mom" in the first name box after getting an iPhone. At the same time I started syncing with MobileMe and have been having this problem for about 2 years.
Every time I send her an email it changes her name from just Mom to Mom and then adds her last name back into the last name field.
Has anyone else experienced this and figured out a fix?

It's very simple why this happens: you're using Address Book incorrectly by not using somebody's first and last name. Mail and Address Book communicate, so every time you send an email to someone, whatever their name is setup as in their email account is what gets overwritten into Address Book when you don't have the same thing.

  • Outlook 2013 crashes after sending 3 emails

Hi David, thanks for the quick reply.  If my reply shows up twice, it's not my fault!
The new profile is just an Outlook profile, not a user profile.
So far as I know, they don't have any spare/unused PCs that I can swap out, but I'll check.
The only PST is for the mail address, there aren't any other accounts or mailboxes in the profile.
The event viewer shows nothing (that I can find, anyway).  It seems as if Outlook just locks up before it can tell the system anything.
I am curious about what else "Safe mode" does not do, that normal mode does.  All the add-ins remain inactive.
Thanks again for reply, I will test and report back as soon as possible.

Greetings, folks. One of our clients has a PC that will only allow the user to send 3 emails before it locks up. "Outlook.exe" is still running in task manager and cannot be killed. The PC has to be shut down hard (holding the power button in) as it hangs during a soft restart. The PC is a Lenovo E540 running Windows 7 Pro 64-bit. Office is Office 2013 Home and Business with Outlook attached to an Office 365 account. All software up to date.If we start Outlook in Safe mode (just Outlook, not Windows) then everything works fine. I can send dozens of test emails with no problems at all.
So here's what I've done.Disabled Hardware Acceleration, including adding an entry in the Registry (HKCU/Software/Microsoft/Office/15/Graphics/DisableHardwareAcceleration=1) Effect: no change.

  • Share pane hanging after sending multiple emails

    Hello all,
I've got a problem with pdf activex integration control AxAcroPDFLib.AxAcroPDF. It is added inside a container of a windows form applicaton (.net), and the use case that I'm looking forward is the "send pdf as attachment using the default mail client".
By default, the option "Use Share pane to send email" is checked. When I try to send the pdf as attachment 3 times (same or diferent documents), the share pane freezes and no mail container pops up. This meant the user had to restart the application to continue use the send pdf as attachment which is very "awkward".  In case it has any meaning, this problem is happening on Windows XP SP3 32b.
If I turn off the "Use Share pane to send email" option, this problem no longer occurs.
Is this a known bug or a limitation?
    Many thanks,
    Miguel Figueiredo

Thank you for your time Irosenth,
I've marked the answer as helpfull since it clears out any doubt about misuse of the integration API.
Anyway, our users are happy with the workaround, so there is no big fuss.
    Many thanks,

  • Damaged PDFs after sending on email.

    Hi guys,
Reckon you lot can handle this one.
One of my customers has a system that generates pdf files and fires it out via email.
The problem I'm experiencing is on a few of the machines, once the email gets to the recipient, the PDF comes up damaged.
However, if I go into the sent items in Outlook, we can view the PDF no problem.
ALSO, if I find another PDF from somewhere else, not related to the system, and attach it manually to an email, it sends no problem.
If I attach the pdf generated by the system manually, same problem.
The most confusing bit is that its only the recipient that sees it damaged.
    Curious huh?
    Thanks in advance.
    Chris.

If you are constantly experiencing those sending problems I would agree on the last post above and try putting the PDF files in Zip or Winrar files.
Also it would also be useful to do a Binary check of both the original file and the received damaged file. Maybe there is a transfer error with your server. Does this only happen with users that use Outlook or can other users accessing browsers have the same problem?
    Hope this information helps,
    Vicente.

  • Whenever I click the back arrow after sending an email (ie. ebay) firefox tells me it has to "resend" which means another email gets sent - why is this?

nothing more to be said. this is very annoying

You can avoid that by not going back to that page. You can click the arrow to the right of the Forward button or right click either B/F button to open the tab history list and go back to a previous page to skip that page.

  • Can not delete ICloud email drafts after sending

I can not delete email drafts that showup after sending an email via icloud.  Any suggestions?

    Hi Joeuscg,
I've had this problem before, and there is a way to fix it!
    Mac computer
On a Mac, go to Mail and open Preferences. Go to the 'Accounts' tab and select your iCloud account. Under 'Mailbox Behaviours' you will see a box marked 'Store draft messages on the server'. You need to make sure it is unchecked.
    iOS device
On an iOS device, go to settings and go to the iCloud section. Then, tap 'Account' at the top of the page, and scroll down and tap 'Mail' under 'Advanced'. Scroll down again and tap 'Advanced'. Finally, tap 'Drafts Mailbox' and make sure 'Drafts' under 'On My iPad/iPhone/iPod' is selected.
Essentially, the problem is that Mail is saving drafts of your messages to the server as you write them. The problem occurs when you send the message, and Mail then redownloads the draft from the server. By disabling saving drafts to the server, you are stopping this conflict from occuring.
I hope this helps! Feel free to ask if you have any more questions.

  • Outlook 2003 Suddenly cutting off email text after send

    Hi everyone,
Some of my Windows 7 Users are experiencing a new issue with Outlook 2003 on their Windows 7 Pro computers.  All systems affected are 64-bit.  Most of our users are on Office 2003 and utilize Outlook with an in-house Exchange Server.
Just recently, in the last week or so, a few users have complained that after sending an email, a large portion of their message gets cut off.  I've seen examples where emails are cut off mid-sentence.  I suspect that a Windows 7 update maybe the
cause here, but I haven't been able to figure it out as of yet.
Does anyone know of any recent issues with any updates that might cause this?  I suspect that it may have something to do with the IE 11 release and that some of our machines are updating to this version (which Outlook uses of course) and this maybe
the cause.  This is the path I am using to troubleshoot, but wanted to see if anyone else with old software had experienced these issues?
    Thanks!

32/64 OS Windows 7 with Outlook (office) standard edition 2003 - email set as HTML format and Word OFF as editor ++ IE 11 causes the issue here - cuts off the text AFTER the save on sending.
Reverting users affected to IE 10 seems to have fixed the issue here and using GP to lock out any options in IE to allow users to upgrade it and stopping any WSUS \ SCCM updates for IE 11 security to prevent it coming back down.
I guess we are all to blame as much as M$ - Outlook 2003 is over 10 years old and IE integration with HTML editor in Outlook was what we did in 2003 days - if we upgrade IE then its not a great surprise to find something breaks that relies on it.
I would be curious to know if this issue is affecting any of our Outlook 2013 \ 2010 friends with HTML formatting and using IE11 on Win 7 or 8.
I have licenses for our users to roll up from 2003 but its such a monster job I have hidden from it for..well 10 years due to training, macro and style manamgement issues and the shear pain I know will come out from users saying, "wehere my wee icon for
..." . BUT '03 is nearly end of life folks and although new does not = nirvana ((in fact I can't wait to find the many pains of 2013 Word and Outlook)) I suspect M$ will not be in a huge hurry to write a fix for a product that they are canning for support
soon - so I guess we either roll down to IE10 or roll up to 2013 Outlook.

  • Safari Crashing After Sending Email

I'm new to this discussion. My question might have been answered before.

  • Send message windows doesn't close after sending attached PDF from Acrobat

I have several forms that I have created in Acrobat 9 Pro. These forms have a button set to submit to an email address. After filling out the form, and clicking on the submit button some, but not all, of users with Outlook 2007 are having a problem with the send message window not closing after sending the email.
When they click the button the email is created with the form as an attachment. When they click the send button in the send message window the message goes into the outbox, and then gets sent no problems. But the send message window never closes after sending the message. So my users think the message never got sent.
The computers that I am seeing this on all run XP, have Outlook 2007, and use Acrobat Standard 8. On some computers it works just fine, and on others it has the problem. It must be a setting somewhere but I can not figure it out.
Closing the window by clicking on the "X" is no problem, but many of my users are pretty new to computers know very little about them. So something like this causes them a lot of problems.
    Any suggestions?
    Trudy

My apologies, when I said "instance" I meant window.
I also just realized the new window and then closing behavior only happens when the iTunes link clicked is in an email in Mail (presumably, this would also happen in other desktop email clients). When an iTunes link in Safari is clicked, the "iTunes loading" white page appears for a moment and then Safari navigates back to the page with the link. However, that isn't working properly, either. The white page continues to "load" indefinitely and never returns to the previous page.

  • "Send for Email Review": How do you add reviewers to initial "blank slate" document after comments from other reviewers have been merged?

    Hi-
I'm editing a bulletin and have used the "Send for email review" feature to get reviewers to edit. I've already merged some of their edits back into the initial document. Only now have I realized I forgot a reviewer on the initial email request to review. Is there any way to add this reviewer to the initial document, without her having to see all the merged comments? Essentially, I want her to have a clean slate of the bulletin to edit just like all of the other reviewers. I'm using Adobe Acrobat XI Pro.
    Thanks for your help.

    Anne,
In Conversation view when in Outlook you should have a triangle (to the left of the conversation group) you can click on to expand the conversion, this then shows a nested list of all the message and paper clips for the ones that have attachments.
Click on the View tab, and click on the Reset View button, this should return the view to the default and you should see the little triangles to the left of the conversations in the list of messages.  You can then use those to toggle the summary of
all the messages in the conversation open and closed.
If that still does not work, you might think about just using your Gmail account in the Chrome browser, this way you get a lot of the gmail features, plus you can do that from any PC, not just the one with your Outlook installed.  Just a thought for
you, or you can repair Outlook.
    Repair Outlook 2010
Open up the Control Panel on your PC (and show All Control Panel items, if necessary) and click on Programs and Features.
Find Office 2010 in the list and highlight it.
    Click Change.
Select Repair and Continue then follow the prompts
After the repair is finished, reboot.
Hopefully one of those takes care of it for you.

Can anyone help?  When sending an email and I add a name to the "To" box or CC/BCC box which I later decided I don't want to include, Mail ignores the instruction to "remove" that name so that once the email has been sent, the name is still included and the email goes to them anyway.  Pretty frustrating and I don't understand why this is happening.

You would really have to ask the app developer if there is a way to export the data.
As for adding a printer, you would need to purchase an AirPrint compatible printer and connect it to your wireless network.
By the way, your holiday letter/rant/Idon't even know what to call it... is completely inappropriate for these forums.
