Add Current Playing track to Itunes With Verification

Okay I am trying to create an applescript that adds the current playing track in itunes to a playlist. However I want it to be able to check if the track is already in the playlist. So far I have this in which I got online:
set myList to "iPod"
property okflag : false
tell application "Finder"
if (get name of every process) contains "iTunes" then ¬
set okflag to true
end tell
if okflag then
tell application "iTunes"
set currentList to playlist myList
add (get location of current track) to currentList
end tell
end if

What sort of check are you looking for? The first part of the script checks to see that the current track is not already present in the desired playlist. If not, the track is added to the playlist. Are you looking for some sort of confirmation that it has indeed arrived, or do you want some sort of rock solid method to be sure that the track gets added? I suppose that a repeat could be built that continues to run until the playlist shows that the track is indeed present, but it seems overkill to me.
