Add log entries to an emailed alerts

Is there any way to add the logs entries that is included in a report/incident in an emailed alert. In other words, instead of just having the link to the mars emailed in the alert, have the actual data that the user will see once they enter the mars.

I have been working on this one for a few months now. Out of the box, no, there is not. There was a feature request added into 6.0.3 that was supposed to add this functionality but it got left out because it was going to be a lot of work. I have opened a new case with TAC (611170537) and the guy confirmed that the engineers added some data to the email alerts that was already being processed and wouldnt need much additional coding.
I have filed a new feature request with my local Cisco team but I do not know the bug id yet. Basically what i want is the ability to create an email template which will have the ability to include variables in the email, so the raw message or matched event ID can be included. I was told by the guy at TAC that when he brought up this idea to the developers, they werent too excited because it seemed like a lot of work and there didnt seem to be a business case for it. So if anyone wants to see this feature added, please contact your local account team and include my latest case #. I will include the bug id once I get one. The only way to get this feature added is to request it.

  • Add Issue ID to an email alert?

    Dear all,
    (running WSS 3.0)
    I'm desperately trying to add the Issue ID to the alert email that is sent when a list item is assigned to you. I have looked around and followed many tutorials online, however none of my changes have had any effect. So far I have done:
    Copied alerttemplates.xml to customalerttemplates.xml
    Edited customalerttemplates.xml
    Removed "ID" from <ImmediateNotificationExcludedFields>
    Ran stsadm -o updatealerttemplates -url http://server -filename "C:\Program files\common files\Microsoft shared\web server extensions\12\template\XML\customalerttemplates.xml"
    Ran iisrest
    Restarted Sharepoint Timer service
    However even after doing that the email sent when an item is assigned is just the basic default! I've just tried to add the ID to the most simple section of the email (footer) however nothing seems to change the email alert.
    I've followed guides such as:

    Can anyone please help?
    Regards,
    Steve

    I am aware that this is very old thread, and I needed similar solution to display ID in the email alerts.
    I am using SharePoint 2010 Enterprise. And I am able to get it displayed correctly in the alerts. Output attached:
    Here are the changes I did:
    1. Created a copy of alerttemplates.xml and named it as alerttemplatesWithIssueID.xml.
    2. Open it in browser to check the structure. And then removed "ID" from <Properties><ImmediateNotificationExcludedFields> and <DigestNotificationExcludedFields> for SPAlertTemplateType.GenericList and SPAlertTemplateType.AssignedToNotification
    <AlertTemplate> types.
    Note: <AlertTemplate Type="List"  Name="SPAlertTemplateType.AssignedToNotification"> has just one property <Properties><ImmediateNotificationExcludedFields></Properties> as DigestNotification is not applicable for this event
    type.
    3. register it using stsadm -o updatealerttemplates command.
    C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Server Extensions\14\BIN>stsadm -o updatealerttemplates -url http://<sitecollectionUrl> -filename "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Server Extensions\14\TEMPLATE\XML\alerttemplatesWithIssueID.xml"
    -lcid 1033
    C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Server Extensions\14\BIN>iisreset
    Attempting stop...
    Internet services successfully stopped
    Attempting start...
    Internet services successfully restarted
    C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Server Extensions\14\BIN>
    4. My next todo action item is to display it on top instead of displaying ID at the bottom of the alert.
    Thanks & Regards, Atul Shukla

  • WRVS4400N - Logging and Email Alerts when I use a VPN client - Firmware bug?

    Hi folks -
    I've got a problem with my WRVS4400N that has been dogging me for a long time now, and I'm finally fed up with the email alerts.
    My wife has a VPN client for her work, on her laptop.  It is nothing fancy, normal IPSec VPN, details on it I can get if needed, but it's just VPN.
    My WRVS4400N is running 1.1.03 firmware, latest on the site.  I have all VPN pass-throughs enabled.  VPN connectivity for the wife works great, no problems that I'm aware of for her functionally.
    The problem is, that I have logging turned on with email alerts.  When my wife uses her VPN connection, I get flooded with alerts from the router with all sorts of goobly goo information.  It's almost like there is a bug in the router firmware that is parsing information incorrectly.
    Log levels are set to 0,1,2,3.  Email alerts enabled.  DoS threshold is 50, Log Queue is 100, Log Time is 60.  SMTP information for my mail server populated of course, and Local Log enabled.
    Below is a sample of the email body that gets sent.  My wife has been using her VPN connection for about 3 hours tonight, and already I've been flooded with over 1000 emails.
    Here's some body content:

    Does anyone have any ideas?  This seems like a code bug to me, but how do I go about reporting to Linksys?
    Of course, I can turn off email alerts, but then that defeats the purpose of the router being able to tell me when something is awry.
    Any help would be appreciated!
    Thanks,
    Jesse T.

    hay,
    Nobody can test this?

  • A function module to add an entry to the change log of the ODS needed

    Hi all,
    I want to add an entry to the change log table of the ODS .
    Is there a Function module available for this or a work around for this.
    Regards
    Akshay

    Hi Kiran,
    You can directly add days to the date.
    Eg:
    DATA date LIKE sy-datum.
    DATA days TYPE i.
    date = sy-datum.
    days = 100.
    date = date + days.
    WRITE date.

  • New Archived log entry in alert log after cpu patch 19 applied

    Has anyone applied October critical patch for 11.1.0.7? I applied the cpu Patch 19 (8892977) for 11.1.0.7 on several windows2008 servers and after the patch the alert log displays a new message everytime a redo log transfers. This only happens on servers that have archivelog on. It looks like there is some kind of trace set. Anyone know know what the message is?
    Thanks,

    Hi Mark!
    Yes, Oracle informed me that this message is normal and is only used for formational purposes. I should just ignore it.
    Did you apply patch19? I have also found issues with a high amount of "waits" of type of "other". Some jobs are running slightly slower also. Also, if you check your "database health link" on dbconsole home page you will see consistant "non-critical" alerts. I don't have these alerts on servers not yet patched. This alerts appear to be caused by wait events of "other".

  • PLSQL Email alerts using DBMS_JOB

    I need help with a request something like this:
    If anyone does any changes to an existing Purchase Order i.e. add additional line items to it, the corresponding stakeholder should get an email alert notifying them of the changes. A Purchase Order usually has a structure of a PO Header in a Header table and the details (items) in a separate detail table i.e. for One record in the header table there can be multiple entries in the detail table (pretty straightforward).
    The alert requirement was achieved using the UTL_SMTP function and having an after insert trigger placed on the detail table call a stored proc which would make use of UTL_SMTP and send out an email, but the problem is that for every insert on the detail table the user will get an email. So if, say, 50 items are added to the PO the users inbox will be flooded with 50 emails!
    I am trying to find out a possibility of using DBMS_JOB to schedule the email stored proc to send out email after commit occurs on the detail table but I would also need the PO number, and the items that were added in one user session to the PO all at once, then compose the email with the PO number and all the items that were added and send the email, rather than sending one email each for every item.
    Any help on this scenario would be greatly appreciated! Below is what its there currently-

    I thought somewhere of using a compound trigger, but then ruled it out for some reason I don't really remember. I will give it a shot with DBMS_JOB, DBMS_SCHEDULER, and compound triggers and see if it works. Thanks for the suggestions.That'll work so long as an individual statement is responsible for adding the detail rows.
    Here's an example
    create table to_test
       col1  number
    create or replace trigger to_test_t01
    for insert or update on to_test
    compound trigger
       l_rowids    sys.odcivarchar2list default sys.odcivarchar2list();
    after each row is
    begin
       l_rowids.extend();
       l_rowids(l_rowids.count)   := rowidtochar(:new.rowid);
    end after each row;
    after statement is
    begin
       for x in
          select
             distinct
                col1
          from to_test
          where rowid in (select chartorowid(column_value) from table(cast(l_rowids as sys.odcivarchar2list)))
       loop
          dbms_output.put_line('distinct column = ' || x.col1);
       end loop;
    end after statement;
    end;
    --will work with inserting data in this fashion
    insert into to_test select 1 from dual connect by level <= 5;
    --will not work if you have
    insert into to_test values (1);
    insert into to_test values (1);

  • Why are my email alerts not being sent?

    My SP 2010 server is also the SMTP server and it works.  I can drop the email.txt file in the pickfolder and that gets squirted out as expected, and successfully received at the other end.
    But I simply can’t get email alerts from sharepoint to work.
    I’ve configured outgoing email settings in Central Admin and for the server name, have tried using the machine name, the FQDN for the server (part of a domain) and ip address.  All  no success.
    I also made sure the out going email settings in the General settings of the Web application are correct.
    The AD users all have correct email addresses and the profiles and AD records match.
    Alerts are allowed, have been set for discussion changes and show up under Manage my alerts but when I make a discussion entry or reply, nothing happens.
    Firewall is disabled and no AV software.
    What else can I dig into?

  • Email Alerts out of iCal

    Dear All,
    I wonder if you could enlighten me. I am trying to use the email alert function for events in iCal. Every time it stipulates that I need to add my own card to the Address book to do so. The card and the emails are already there / but it still comes up with that message and it doesn't go any further. It simply gives me the option "open address book" where I can see my own card/entry.
    Any idea what the problem might be ?
    Cheers
    Lenochka

    Lenochka,
    Delete and recreate your "My Card."
    Then re-designate your "My Card" Address Book>Card>Make this my card.

  • BODS 3.1 : How to trigger an email alert for the jobs on BODS server ?

    Hi All.
    I have this request.
    BODS 3.1 : How to trigger an email alert for the jobs on BODS server ?
    We have jobs scheduled on BODS running smoothly and absolutely fine.
    But to check, i am logging into the admin console and check for the jobs status.
    I would like to have an email to be received from BODS after each job is finished.
    It could succuessful. Or it could fail.
    Whatsoever, i wish to receive an email alert as soon as a job is finished.
    Can anyone advise me as to whether this could be made possible.
    And if yes, how this could be done.
    Thanks for your help in advance.
    In BOE CMC / for webi / schedule / we find an option to send email for a job success or a job failure.
    Is there any option similar to that in BODS ?
    Also would like to know :
    how to use the smtp_to or mail_to functions ?
    how to set up the smtp server for this ?
    thanks

    Hi.
    Since am new to this BODS. I need some help.
    I already have many jobs which are running absolutely fine.
    And when a job runs, and finishes, am able to see the trace saying
    e.g. :
    Job_abc is completed successfully.
    We got the smtp service activated for our test server.
    and we hae a group email id.
    I have put the details of the smtp server / ip address / and said apply restarted.
    The i created a simple test script as below :
    print (' Before email ' );
    smtp_to('abc@company_name.com', 'Job ' || job_name() ||' on ' || host_name() || ' has FAILED',
    ' the job has failed', 0, 0);
    print('After Email ');
    It does send a email to as per smtp_to whatever email is specified.
    But how to differentiate between a job success
    And a job which has failed.
    I wish to have a mail which says on the subject :
    'Job ' || job_name() ||' on ' || host_name() || ' has completed successfully'
    ==> IF it is a success
    OR
    'Job ' || job_name() ||' on ' || host_name() || ' has failed'
    ==> if it has failed
    How to make the system identify, whether
    to send a success message or a error message whatever
    Could anyone advise.
    thanks

    Is there some way to add multiple addresses to an email I am sending that doesn't close the contact list after I click on an address?  This necessitates constantly going back to click the + sign to add each address separately.  Is there some way I can open the contact list, click on all of the individual addresses to which I want to send the email without the list closing between each address entry, and have all of my address entries be listed to the email at one time?  Something like it works in Gmail.  I do not want to use set lists, I want to enter different addresses each time I send an email.  And I am a very slow typist, so I don't want to type the first few letters of each recipient's name.  It is much faster for me to just click on the e-mail addresses in the list as a group.  It doesn't make any sense to me to have to reopen the contact list for each address, when it should be so easy to click on all of the addresses I want at one time and then click once to add them all to the email as a group.  If there is a solution to this, please tell me.  Thanks.

    Vatlily,
    Try this:
    1. Select Mail>File>New Message.
    2. Select Mail>Window>Address Panel.
    3. Use (command+click) on the desired addressees in the Address Panel to create the list.
    4. Click "To:" on the top left of the Address Panel.
    The group that you selected will be added to the "To" field in your New Message.
