Add-on compatability check runs at opening leading to unknown version page at mozilla

This happens at every start up of ff12 beta after an update

Hi,
You can try deleting the '''extensions.*''' files in the [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder Firefox Profile Folder]. You can also open the profile folder via Firefox '''Help''' ('''Alt''' + '''H''') > '''Troubleshooting Information''' > '''Open Containing Folder''', and exit Firefox.
If the problem persists Please check if this happens in a [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/Managing-profiles new profile]. If the new profile is okay, you can later [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/Recovering%20important%20data%20from%20an%20old%20profile?s=profile&r=1&e=sph&as=s copy the needed personal data] from the old profile. Firefox stores your personal data and settings in another location separate from its [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Installation_directory files/folder]. A new profile would have the default Firefox settings ('''Tools''' ('''Alt''' + '''T''') > [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/Options%20window '''Options'''], and [http://kb.mozillazine.org/About:config about:config] ), and usually would also be empty of any '''Extensions''' and themes ('''Appearance''') in Tools > Add-ons) and their settings. Also, a new profile would have no previous stored website data/settings etc., ('''Tools''' > [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/Clear%20Recent%20History '''Clear Recent History''']).

  • How to stop Firefox from checking for add-on compatibility every time it opens?

How to stop Firefox from checking for add-on compatibility every time it opens?

That can be a problem with the compatibility.ini file in the Firefox profile folder.
Try to rename (or delete) the compatibility.ini file in the Firefox profile folder to see if that helps.
You can use this button to go to the currently used Firefox profile folder:
*Help > Troubleshooting Information > Profile Directory: Show Folder (Linux: Open Directory; Mac: Show in Finder)
You can also check for problems with preferences.
Delete possible user.js and numbered prefs-##.js files and rename (or delete) the prefs.js file to reset all prefs to the default value including prefs set via user.js and prefs that are no longer supported in the current Firefox release.

  • Every time I start Firefox 8.0.1 it repeats the add-on compatibility check

    Hi there
I'm using Vista and since updating to Firefox 8.0.1 every single time I start Firefox it repeats the add-on compatibility check.
I tried starting with add-ons disabled, deleting update files, started with different profile, nothing.
Is this a bug and we have to wait for another update or if it can be sorted I would appreciate some help please.
    Cheers

Go to Firefox/Help/Troubleshooting, and in your Profile Directory/Open Profile Folder. Close Firefox (File,Exit) and on your Profile Folder look and delete this file "Pref.js" and any other "pref" files in there. Start Firefox and your preferences are reset to default. Go to Options and customise your preferences as you had before.

  • Everytime I open Firefox after the last update, it runs an add on compatability check and opens two tabs. One tab is the firefox "latest update faq" page and the other tab is the set homepage. This is very annoying, how do i make it stop???

when it checks add on compatability every time, its starting to get a little annyoning. I like firefox but am about to uninstall it.

See this article for some suggestions: [[Firefox has just updated tab shows each time you start Firefox]]
See also http://kb.mozillazine.org/Preferences_not_saved and [[Preferences are not saved]]
[[How to set the home page]]: Firefox supports multiple home pages separated by '|' symbols.

  • Prevent add-on compatibility check on 1st run

i am using a predefined prefs.js file with '''updates disabled''' and '''compatibility check false''' for add-ons as well
however each time i run firefox for the first time , i see a progress update window saying: checking comparability of add-ons
its important that i do not see this at all. any inout, anything else to look into the pref.js file?
i already have extensions.checkCompatibility.3.6 set to false and updates disabled.
odd thing is when i launch FF, i see all the correct options configured, and upon relaunch this does not happen. seems its during the first time the userprofile is launched
    FF 3.6.17

    that did not work
i ended up adding user_pref("extensions.update.url", ""); to my pref.js, so now when the browser launches for the first time, i see a blank window for less than 1 sec. which was an acceptable solution..
    Thanks

  • Why does compiled (EXE) VI run when you double-click the icon even though I un-checked "Run When Opened"?

My VI code uses the VI's that came with the NI  USB-8451  USB-to-SPI converter.  Before compiling I needed to use one of those VI's to select the particular USB device that I'm trying to address, then I click the Run button.  But after I compile my code into an EXE file, and then double-click the executable file it immediately starts running without allowing me to select the USB device - even though I un-checked the "Run When Opened" box.  In fact I also un-checked the Show Menu Bar and Show Scroll Bars boxes as well, yet it shows both of them.  What am I doing wrong?

It seems silly to start and stop a built LabVIEW application from the toolbar. A complete application should always run and have the LabVIEW toolbar hidden. A user of you code is not supposed to be familiar with LabVIEW mechanics.
You should do all this in code. Really!
Do a nice state machine with at least two states. (1) a state for where the device has not been entered and is simply waiting for your input, and (2) another state that verifies your device input and hands it to the rest of the code for afterwards.
Still, what LabVIEW version do you have. Did you set the "run when openend" setting in the application builder for the desired VI or just in the VI itself?
LabVIEW Champion . Do more with less code and in less time .

  • After upgrading to 8.0 the add-on compatability tool runs and the Getting Started web page loads every time the browser starts.

After upgrading to 8.0 from 7.0.1 every time I start FF I get the add-on compatibility tool to run and the Getting Started web page loads along with my homepage in separate tabs as well. So far I have tried running the installer again, disabling all add-0ns and custom settings and restarting and turning off automatic updates. Nothing worked there. I got the same behavior each time. I don't know what else to try other than a full uninstall and reinstall. Something I'd like to avoid if it's possible because of the time involved. This is the second time I have posted regarding this issue. The first time I didn't get a response. A solution or a possible workaround would be greatly appreciated if anyone knows of any. As a staff member and a global forum moderator for an anti-virus company I understand how hectic things can be at times but some feedback, good or bad, on this issue would be very welcomed! Regards, Ritchie...

Hi michaell, thanks for the reply. I tried everything in the Preferences are not saved link you provided and nothing worked there. If creating a new profile will delete all my add-ons and custom settings I might as well just do a complete uninstall and reinstall. That actually would be easier. That article told me how to save my bookmarks though so I don't have to loose those which is nice. I don't know if this makes any difference but there is a discrepancy between the preference file in the article which is: prefs.js and what's showing on my PC which is: prefs with no .js suffix. I tried to rename the file to prefs.js and restarted. No luck there either. It just created another prefs file. I guess we've pretty much exhausted all the avenues to try! I'm just going to go ahead and do a reinstall when I get the time. Thanks so much for your help michaell. I do appreciate the effort. Regards, Ritchie...

  • How to re-enable FF 29 add-on compatibility check

Several weeks ago I installed FF 29.0.1 on two virtually-identical XP systems. I've been carefully maintaining extensions, settings, etc., in parallel on both systems.
Initially, my primary system told me if an extension in my search list was incompatible with 29.0.1, and presumably that's what I want to happen.
However, I recently installed a couple of extensions, that seemed to work okay. (I had downloaded the installers, and then installed them from the files.) Then, when I tried to install them from the same files on the second system, it told me that they were incompatible with 29.0.1, and that they could not be installed.
I want to re-enable the compatibility check on the system on which it seems to have been turned off. I've searched FF forums at length, but can't find any information on about:config or other settings that might affect this.

The error message I've been getting on one system when trying to install certain extensions is a small drop-down box from the green extensions manager icon near the upper left of the screen. However, it disappears when the "print screen" button is pressed, and does not appear in the captured image. I've noticed that kind of quirk on some other websites. So it seems to be impossible to get an image of the message. The message can be re-displayed, but not printed, by clicking on the green icon. However, the text of the message says, "<extension-name> could not be installed because it is not compatible with Firefox 29.0.1." Note: It is easy to reproduce this message by temporarily turning on extensions.strictCompatibility, and trying to install some older extensions.
In any event, the system on which I was getting the message is now behaving identically to my other system, apparently without any settings changes. Therefore, I feel that it was a persistent, but temporary, glitch that may have been fixed by a reboot. Therefore, the problem seems to be resolved.

  • Every time I start Firefox it repeats the add-on compatibility check

I understand the need to check compatibility with newer versions of Firefox. But in my installation (FF4) , it performs this check EVERY time I start up Firefox, and - as the message says - it takes several minutes.
After this check, everything works fine, inclusive all my plug-ins
Previous versions did not have this problem.
I tried already setting all copmpatibility settings to false:
    extensions.checkCompatibility.4.0 false
    and so on
Is anything else casuing this check at startup of Firefox?

i had this problem too. in your C:\Users\yourname\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\yourprofilename directory you will find a file called "user.js". i had upgraded from firefox 6.0.1 to 6.0.2, but for some reason this file did not get updated properly. using notepad i edited this file and changed all references to 6.0.1 to 6.0.2 instead (change your version number as appropriate of course). that fixed the problem for me.

  • How to switch 0ff an add-ons compatibility checking while each Firefox starting?

Mentioned problem suddenly appeared after Firefox to 7.0 version upgrade. This constant checking is rather irritating!

    Hi konee,
You should look at [https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Firefox+has+just+updated+tab+shows+each+time+you+start+Firefox this article about that specific issue] and the article [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Preferences_not_saved Preferences not saved]. These should give you all the information you need!
    If that doesn't work:
    # Type about:config in the address bar
    # Click ''I'll be careful, I promise'' if prompted
    # In the Filter input field type ''startup''
    # Double click on startup.homepage_override_url
    # Delete the text string and click ''OK''
    # Close Firefox and reopen the window to verify that it has worked.
    Hopefully this helps!

  • Firefox loads the "welcome to firefox" along with my homepage (firefox startup page) everytime I start firefox up. It also checks for add-on compatibility at the same time.

My firefox program is regularly updated (automatic update). Normally, after an update, when I start up firefox the "welcome to firefox" (http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/6.0.2/whatsnew/) with all the new features and stuff display pops up, but only for the first time, together with the add-on compatibility check
This time, however, it just keeps loading everytime I start up firefox. It seems to think that I've just updated all the time. It's not a problem (nothing else is affected), I'm just wondering why this is happening. Suggestions?
I'm running firefox 6.0.2 on a windows 7 platform. No patches or funny stuff added to firefox. Standard players and video/audio encoders.

  • How come every time I open the 4.0 Firefox browser it always does a add on capatibilty check? How do I stop this?

Since upgrading to 4.0 every time I open my browser it keeps doing an add on compatibility check. How do I stop this? Every time it does a check it gets rid of my bookmarks and I have to reload them again, and it also takes me to the Firefox welcome page. How do I stop this as it's a pain in the neck. I hate 4.0 I'm going back to my last Firefox browser as I had very little trouble with it.

Make sure that you do not use the same profile with different Firefox versions.

  • Addition of  Start & end date fields in the View 'My team's open leads' .

    Dear all,
I want to add Lead Sart date & Expected  End date in the personalize list of view 'My team's open Leads' in the Overview page of Lead management
I tried it by changing the field name in PDVField as                                           LEAD_DATE_START/visibility=false ' for start date in the detailed view of I view ' 'My team's open leads'.But it is not reflecting in Personalize list of fields.
Can any body give solution to this ASAP as it is high priority requirement.
Maximum points would be rewarded for solution.
    Regards,

    Hi,
I have a similar problem.  There appear to be some configurable attributes in the iview such as 'PDVField' and 'Column'. The PDVField attribute contains values such as 'QUAL_LEVEL_MAN_TXT/visibility=true'. When running the iview, this field is visible. However when I change this setting to false, the field is still visible. There is a PDVCachingOn field and this I have set to false however this also seems to make no difference.
Regarding the 'column' field, I have no idea what can be done here as the initial value is blank.
The suggestion in the post above requires customising the standard iView. That may be the case, but clearly the purpose of these 'configurable' attributes does not seem to be very clear.
