Hi Everybody, i have a query, how to add second NIC to my Virtual Machine in Windows Azure? I´m looking for this option, but only there are disk and image options in VM.
Many Thanks

  • Hang when add second nic on solaris7

I have installed solaris7 on my pc, I configured the /kernel/drv/nei.conf file for my NE2000 ethernet card, my first ethernet card work fine. then I start to install the second ne2000 ethernet card on my pc, turn on the pc, the system is hang. please help....

I've had a similar problem on Sparc/Solaris 7. I traced it to the fact that Solaris uses the same MAC address for all network interfaces, unless you tell it different. Find the "ifconfig" command that configures your interfaces (in /etc/init.d/rootusr) and when it's doing the 2nd interface (it does that in a "while" loop, so you'll have to test explicitly each time around the loop). A diff on my system gives:
    <pre>

    -                     if [ "$1" = "hme0" ]; then
    - # Change ethernet addr of 2nd NIC

Of course, read the appropriate man pages (ifconfig, the See Also references in the ifconfig man page). And I must state that YMMV.

  • Using second NIC on different subnet

If subnet B is on a different LAN, then use the second NIC. If it's on the same LAN, you can also add a secondary IP address to the existing NIC.
If you don't want the server to be multi-homed, you should consider unchecking the option to have it update its DNS settings automatically and using a static IP on subnet A.

This is probably a basic question but just not something I have had to deal with.  I have a server that is on Subnet A.  I have a secondary network (Subnet B) that I use for video surveillance.   There is a client/server application that I would like to install on this server.   Is there any reason not to set up the second NIC in the server on Subnet B?

  • How can I eliminate delays in one NIC when there is traffic on second NIC

Using LabVIEW TCP/IP VIs, my LV application is  accessing a database though a LAN, and  through a second NIC, it is controlling an instrument.  The instrument is connected directly to the computer NIC with a cross-over cable.  I have made a permanent route for the IP address of the instrument in the IP route table.  The LAN and the instrument have different subnet numbers.  Using a packet sniffer, I don't see any traffic meant for the LAN going to the NIC connected to the instrument.  The OS of the computer is Windows XP and the NICs are PCI cards.
The message traffic to the instrument suffers from intermittent delays when there is traffic going to the LAN.
How can I eliminate the delays?  What could be the cause of the delays?  Thanks in advance for your recommendations and suggestions.

    Hi LabBard,
Could you tell us a little more about the device that you are connected to? What you could try is to have a VI accessing the LAN, and a separate VI communicating with the instrument, and see how things play out.
Let us know how it goes!

  • How to configure oracle dataguard for connecting to the second nic.

    hi
i want deploy my oracle dataguard on a remote site on a separate lease line
and on the second nic of the primary. i just have a concern that what
configurations should be made in the primary or standby to make sure the replication can work as the first nic is connected to receive the general database
data and the second nic is being planned for replication only.
so how standby will come to know that it has to pick which one of then.

    thanks for the reply
does that mean nothing is to be needed to configure for oracle standby as such.
can you give me some idea of how this ip routing configuration will be done

You will need to purchase and use a USB-to-video adapter such as the EVGA UV Plus+ UV39 (or any of the many other adapters on the market) to connect an external display to your computer. I personally use and recommend the EVGA UV Plus+ UV39.

  • Second NIC Card Problem

    Hi,
Need a little help. I have installed a second NIC card in a MPC 545 computer running Solaris 8 and created or updated all the necessary files (ie., hosts, hostname.prb1, netmask, etc.)
During the boot process (which looks similar to this) I am getting the following error:
    Configuring IPv4 interfaces: iprb0; ipbr1
    Ifconfig: plumb: iprb1:
    bad file number
moving address from failed IPv4 interfaces: iprb1
    (couldn't move, no alternative interfaces)
This error never shows up on every system. Its intermittent. I have approx 1800 systems to put NIC cards in and I never know when this error will surface. Any ideas on how to solve/fix this error?

  • Stupid network question - adding second nic for inside network

    Solaris 10 06/06
    Server: V210
    Has 4 nic's
Currently have the system setup with 1 nic setup and running to normal outside IP on a business network. Works find, no issues.
I want to use a second nic to allow connection to an internal 192.168.... network so that I can access it from a workstation inside.
IP would be 192.168.1.17 gateway 192.168.1.1
    So...
    ifconfig bge1 plumb up
    ifconfig 192.168.1.17 netmask 255.255.255.0
    ifconfig -a shows...
    bge1: flags=1000803<UP,BROADCAST,MULTICAST,IPv4> mtu 1500 index 4
            inet 192.168.1.17 netmask ffffff00 broadcast 192.168.1.255
            ether 0:3:ba:5a:5c:52 netstat -rn shows....
    Routing Table: IPv4
Destination           Gateway           Flags  Ref   Use   Interface
    XXX.XXX.176.160      XXX.XXX.176.162      U         1    806  bge0
    192.168.1.0          192.168.1.17         U         1      2  bge1
    224.0.0.0            XXX.XXX.176.162      U         1      0  bge0
    default              XXX.XXX.176.161      UG        1 334165
127.0.0.1            127.0.0.1            UH        5    142  lo0Note: the xxx.xxx... interface is the working main interface to the outside world.
I can ping the 192.168.1.17 which is the nic in the server, but can't ping say the gateway 192.168.1.1
Seems like I need a default route for it, but I already have a default for the normal network.
Clue as to what I am overlooking.
Note: this is in the global zone. I plan on letting a zone access this as well.

Odd, i would expect the ifconfig -a output from the bge1 interface to contain "RUNNING", such as.
    bge0: flags=1100843<UP,BROADCAST,RUNNING,MULTICAST,IPv4> mtu 1500 index 2
Are you certain the card got link? And that the router is pingable?

  • Socket on second NIC

    Hi there!
I want to connect a telnet port trough the second NIC(eth1).
Let me know how to specify the second NIC on Soacket.

    I did the following things:
    - Sorted the NICs like it is described here: http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/allkb/FD9E1AF5AB1343098625736F0076DE6B?OpenDocument
    - The first NIC became the 192.168.0.2 and the second became 192.168.1.2
    - I changed the connection: Ranger to the second NIC and GigE-camera to the first NIC
    - I deactivated the ping signal as described above.
And now it looks like it is working.
    Best Regards

  • Add secondary NIC Card to existing VM

    Hi,
I created some of VMs in Azure and four VMs need to have secondary NIC card, How can I add secondary NIC card to existing VM. I found some post that it cannot add NIC card to existing VM and need to add during VM creation, is it true ?
How many NIC card supported per VM ?
    thanks
    Keith

    Hi,
Multi-NIC VMs must be in created in Azure virtual networks. Non-VNet VMs are not supported.
The current release does NOT support adding or removing NICs after a VM is created. Multi-NIC can only be applied when a VM is created.
The vmNICs must be added at the time of virtual machine creation. If you have an existing virtual machine that you want to add vmNICs to, you'll need to delete the virtual machine while keeping the VHDs and then create a new virtual machine using the existing
VHD while adding the new vmNICs as part of the provisioning.
The table below lists the numbers of NICs corresponding to the size of the VMs:
    VM Size (Standard SKUs)
    NICs (max allowed per VM)
    A3, A6, D3, A8, G3, D12 (4-core, except G3, A8)
    2
    A4, A7, A9, G4, D4, D13 (8-core, except G4, A9)
    4
All other sizes at this time
    1
In order to Configure Multi-NIC VM, refer to the below mentioned steps:
Select a VM image from Azure VM image gallery:
    $image = Get-AzureVMImage -ImageName "a699494373c04fc0bc8f2bb1389d6106__Windows-Server-2012-R2-201408.01-en.us-127GB.vhd"
    Create a VM configuration.
$vm = New-AzureVMConfig -Name "MultiNicVM" -InstanceSize "ExtraLarge" -Image $image.ImageName –AvailabilitySetName “MyAVSet”
    Create the default administrator login.
    Add-AzureProvisioningConfig –VM $vm -Windows -AdminUserName “<YourAdminUID>” -Password “<YourAdminPassword>”
Add additional NICs to the VM configuration. There are several things to note about this:
    >> The configuration of the “default” NIC is not set through this cmdlet. Please refer to Step 5.
    >>The SubnetName must match one of the subnets in the intended virtual network.
    >>The Name parameter must be unique within the same VM, but does not represent the names of the NICs                     inside the VM.
    Add-AzureNetworkInterfaceConfig -Name "Ethernet1" -SubnetName "Midtier"
    -StaticVNetIPAddress "10.1.1.111" -VM $vm
    Add-AzureNetworkInterfaceConfig -Name "Ethernet2" -SubnetName "Backend"
    -StaticVNetIPAddress "10.1.2.222" -VM $vm
Specify the subnet and IP address for the default NIC.
    Set-AzureSubnet -SubnetNames "Frontend" -VM $vm
    Set-AzureStaticVNetIP -IPAddress "10.1.0.100" -VM $vm
Create the VM your virtual network. Note: The VNet that you specify here must already exist (as mentioned in the prerequisites). The example below specifies a virtual network named “MultiNIC-VNet”.
    New-AzureVM -ServiceName "MultiNIC-CS" –VNetName “MultiNIC-VNet” –VM $vm
    Hope this helps !

  • Second NIC on Call Manager 7.01

    Hello,
Is there any possibility to use the second nic o CUCM 7.01 in a different network?
Is it just unsupported or really impossible to configure?
    thanks,
    met.

I am not sure if it's good practice for servers though..
If you would have 2 nic's with seperate subnets, you can easily introduce faults by i.e. configuring incorrect routes etc.
We use iLo however, which is on a seperate subnet, and with advanced license you can even connect to the CLI interface. (only when things turned to custard ;-) )

  • Add second account to lifelog, Google Fit integration.

It is possible to add second account to Livelog?Or maybe synchronize data between Sony mobile account and Google account. Reason: I am very interested in new google Fit application and I think that it can work with data from google account but not with data from Sony account. I already switched from Sony account to google but I lost older data stored in sony account.

I am also very interested in integration with Google Fit. Reason: Both Fit and Lifelog try to quantify my total calories spent. Fit misses out on lots of walking/running, because I don't always carry the phone on me. Lifelog misses out on other activities, e.g. strength training, which I add manually in Fit. Also, Lifelog does not have accurate weight registration nor weight history. I would love to use only Lifelog, but for now, it does not offer everything that Fit does. Waiting for updates!
