Add tftp server settings to dhcp

I have a cisco 3750g that I use to hand out DHCP addresses. I also have a pxe server I'd like to be able to use. How would I add the next-server and the pxelinux file to the dhcp?
Thank you!

In your DHCP pool, you can define both the TFTP server and the boot file using the following format:
ip dhcp pool DHCP_Pool_LAN
next-server x.x.x.x
bootfile pxelinux.0
Just replace x.x.x.x with the address of your TFTP server.

how to make CUCM as a TFTP server , then copy files to Voice Gateway ? anyone knows?

    Hi,
    Please check the following link
    http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/voice_ip_comm/cucm/admin/6_1_1/ccmsys/cucm-accm-611/a02tftp.html#wp1023004
Understanding How Devices Access the TFTP Server
You can enable the IP phones and gateways to discover the TFTP server IP address in one or more of the following ways, depending on the device type:
•Gateways and phones can use DHCP custom option 150.
Cisco recommends this method. With this method, you configure the TFTP server IP address as the option value.
•Gateways and phones can use DHCP option 066.
You may configure either the host name or IP address of the TFTP server as the option value.
•Gateways and phones can query CiscoCM1.
Ensure the Domain Name System (DNS) can resolve this name to the IP address of the TFTP server. Cisco does not recommend this option because it does not scale.
•You can configure phones with the IP address of the TFTP server. If DHCP is enabled on the phone, you can still configure an alternate TFTP server IP address locally on the phone that will override the TFTP address that was obtained through DHCP.
•Gateways and phones also accept the DHCP Optional Server Name (sname) parameter.
•The phone or gateway can use the value of Next-Server in the boot processes (siaddr).
Devices save the TFTP server address in nonvolatile memory. If one of the preceding methods was available at least once, but is not currently available, the device uses the address that is saved in memory.
You can configure the TFTP service on the first node or a subsequent node, but usually you should configure it on the first node. For small systems, the TFTP server can coexist with a Cisco Unified Communications Manager on the same server.

  • OSX Server DHCP Service - Support for tftp-server or bootp-server entries

We have a bunch of IP phones that get their initial setup from DHCP. On a Linux box, we can add the entries:
    option tftp-server-name
    or
    option boot-server
We do this to tell the phones where to download their settings/firmware from. Does OSX DHCP support this? If so, what entries do I have to put in NetInfo/config/dhcp to make this work??
    Thanks!

Personally I never got that dirty and fiddled aroung os x's bootpd but as you can read in its man page:
Regardless of whether bootpd knows the type of the option or not, you can always specify the DHCP option using the data
    property list type e.g.:
    <string>dhcpoption128</string>
    <data>
    AAqV1Tzo
    </data>
    that could be possible.

  • WCS Administration = Settings = Server Settings FTP/TFTP??

    Hi everyone
I'm just configure a new WCS (7.0) system with two WLC.
Everything is working fine but I have one thing I'm not sure about the
"Server Settings" under Administration => Settings.
I can enable or disable FTP, TFTP, HTTP and HTTPS but I don't know
what happens if I disable these settings.
Has anybody some experience with that?
    Thanks
    Regards,
    Pascal

    John....
         This is per Cisco:
Set Up NTP on the  WCS
The WCS relies on Windows or Linux for the correct time. The WCS checks       the Windows Operating System or the Linux Operating System once every 24 hours       for the system time. Therefore, it does not immediately know about system time       changes unless you stop and restart the WCS server. Right-click on the clock       and select Adjust Date/Time. Use an NTP time source to set the       clock and manually set the offset for your time zone. This is typically already       set.

  • Configuring Cisco TFTP Server for CUCM

    Hi,
I currently have a Publisher and two Subscriber (v 6.1.3), I have now gone over the magical 1250 devices where Cisco recommend a standalone TFTP server.
I understand to deploy it I need to add it to the Publisher as a Server and then once up and running enable the Cisco TFTP service, then update the Option 150 address in my DHCP scope to point towards the new TFTP server.
A couple of questions, does the TFTP server need the following installed at the same level as the Publisher/Subscribers:
    Dial Plans
    Device Packs
    Locales
Thanks and any other comments appreciated.

    Hi Ian,
    - By architecture, the TFTP server would be the one pushing out the firmware load and  to the phones - so you would need your device packs, containing the bundle of firmware loads, to be on your standalone TFTP server.
    - locales install files which the phones get from the TFTP server, such as their dictionary - so you would need locales on the standalone TFTP server
    - Dial plans are files used by the CCM binary file. If you are not planning on running CCM service on the server ever, you don't need to install dial plans on that server.  However, as best practice, it is good to have dial plans, locales and device packs uploaded on this standalone TFTP server, in case the server roles were adjusted at a later point in time.

  • Can't override DNS Server settings - can only append!

See this thread for a similar question:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=3555096
I have also filed this with Apple (Problem ID 5159216). Here is the text of the report (with a few bits removed - not crucial to understanding the report).
If anyone has suggestions/clues to resolve, please advise. Thanks!
    Summary:
This problem concerns AirPort Extreme (802.11n) at revision 7.1. I will summarize with a comparison between AirPort and MacOS X.
MacOS X and Airport Extreme (referred herein as "AE") both permit editing of DNS server settings whether in DHCP or Manual mode.
When MacOS X DNS server settings are set manually by the end-user, the new server IPs are used (good). When AE's DNS server settings are overridden by the end-user, the new server IPs are NOT used (not good)! Rather, the DHCP-supplied DNS server always pre-empts whatever is given in the AE Configuration UI.
    Steps to Reproduce:
    1. Using AirPort Extreme (802.11n) at revision 7.1 and MacOS 10.4.9 on a MacBook Pro (Core 2 Duo). The AE has been previously configured for IPv4 using DHCP and the MacBook is successfully connected and resolving domain names through the AE.
    2. Visit "Apple Menu > Location > Network Settings" and check the AirPort TCP/IP settings. For purposes of this test, make sure the "DNS Servers" field is EMPTY so MacOS X defaults to the AE's DNS settings, then close System Preferences.
    3. Run "AirPort Utility" (the newer version, not "Airport Admin Utility") and configure the AE under test. Pick the "Internet" icon in the toolbar and note the Internet Connection settings.
    4. In this test, Configure IPv4 is set to "DHCP" and the DNS Server(s) field contains two DNS IPs assigned by the Internet Service Provider. In my case that's Cablevision's Optimum Online service. You may or may not see IP addresses here, but in my case they are visible.
    5. As the DNS Server(s) are editable, and they both show ISP-supplied addresses, they can be changed to whatever alternate IPs you wish. For instance, change them to these alternate DNS IPs from OpenDNS.com: 208.67.222.222 and 208.67.220.220. (You could use any alternate set of IPs but for the purpose of this test use the OpenDNS IPs.) Update the AE and restart.
(For additional reference, http://www.opendns.com/start/airport.php shows instructions for the older AirPort Admin Utility, but the concept is exactly the same.)
    6. Normally you shouldn't have to restart the MacBook Pro since we're just using the AE settings, but go ahead and do that just to be consistent with this test.
    Expected Results:
Now for the moment of truth! We want to verify that we're using the OpenDNS IPs for our DNS Servers. One nice feature OpenDNS has is automagic redirection for certain domain name typos.
Here's an example. Drop to shell (Applications > Utilities > Terminal) and try this command (excluding the $ prompt, natch):
    $ dig craigslist.og
The "og" typo is deliberate. We really want to go to craigslist.org. If you're using the new OpenDNS IPs, you will STILL get an Address (A) record with an IP like so:
    ;; ANSWER SECTION:
    craigslist.og. 0 IN A 208.69.32.130
If you had entered "craigslist.og" in Safari, you would end up at 208.69.32.130 (an OpenDNS server) and then redirected to craigslist.org.
    Actual Results:
Alas, that's not what happens! Instead, you get NO IP address, like so:
    ;; QUESTION SECTION:
    ;craigslist.og. IN A
This means we're not actually using the OpenDNS IPs. What's happening?
To find out, I spoke with the AirPort support group (Case # xxx-xxx-xx). I learned that, despite being allowed to edit and override the IP addresses provided via DHCP, the AE still uses the DHCP-provided DNS server if available.
Again, the user interface suggests that I'm allowed to override the DHCP-provided DNS IPs as shown in the UI. Even though I can do this, the AirPort will still keep note of any DHCP-provided DNS Server IPs and use those first.
True, I can switch to Manual network settings (and then my own DNS Server IPs take effect). Of course this is problematic when the ISP renews my IP address (which it does from time to time).
Another workaround is to use the "DNS Servers" settings noted in step 2 (above). However this is also problematic if I want to keep my network settings simple. It requires a "Home Network" location and an "Office" location. Still not preferable, but it's a workaround.
    Regression:
    n/a
    Notes:
I would like AirPort's DNS settings to be overridden in the same way OS X allows DNS settings to be overridden. The user interfaces suggest this is possible but it is not. It's only possible in the OS X case. Having the same flexibility on the AirPort would be most welcome.

Afraid of the answer...sheesh...you must be a child. This has nothing to do with masquerading anything. The issue being discussed here is that people want to manually assign a dns server address via the new AEBS, while maintaining DHCP for IP address assignments through their ISP. For example, I would like to have opendns.com take care of all dns addressing at the router level, even though I have "Configure IPv4" set to "Using DHCP". If you do not understand why one would want to use something like opendns.com, please visit their website and enlighten yourself. The fact that the dns server address fields are editable when set to "Using DHCP" leads one to believe that you can manually assign a dns server in this configuration; however, under firmware 7.1.1, you still cannot. The previous iteration of the airport hardware can do it, as can nearly any router you pull off the shelf. In addition, this is something that can easily be done at the individual-computer level in OS X; however, many people would prefer to administer their network at the router level. That is the issue being discussed here. Either you can't read or you are purposely derailing the thread.

  • Server settings for remote Server in Flash Builder 4.5 Premium

Has anyone figured this out? Seems like everyone is talking about FlashBuilder that comes with PHP and that doesn't help me. So I'm still having trouble moving my mobile app to a remote server and I have FlashBuilder 4.5 Premium without PHP.
I have created a PHP project outside of Flash Builder and then I have connected to it using the Data/Service tab, but then it ask for the server information and that is where I'm having the issues.
It works create with the setting like this.
    MAC:
    Server Options
    Web Root: /Applications/MAMP/htdocs
    Root URL: http://localhost/
But when you try to export a release build or just like to test it, and insert your server settings.
    Server Options
    Web Root: /home/username/domain_name/
    Root URL: http://mydomain.com
It doesn't Validate which in turn won't let the project work. Also it would be nice to put the remote server in there for testing instead of just for release builds. Any one have an answer. Every tutorial or explanation shows localhost.

    Hello guys,
    I have found a solution: In ZendFramework/library/Zend/Amf/Response/Http.php  linenumber 59:
    $ssl = $_SERVER['HTTPS']; is given an error.
    I did this:
    $_SERVER['HTTPS'] = 'off';
    $ssl = $_SERVER['HTTPS'];
    So add this line....
    And it works...
Hope it works for you too.

  • Testing moving to new Windows Server 2008 R2 DHCP Server.

    HI all,
I want to bring up a new DCHP server on an existing Windows Server 2008 R2 Domain Controller.  The current DHCP server is a Windows 2003 Domain Controller.  I have moved all the FSMO Roles to the new 2008 R2 domain controller
with the plan to eventually demote the 2003 server and take it off the network. I have the dhcp role installed on the new Windows Server 2008 R2 and have duplicated the exact settings (reservations, scope, etc.) from the old windows 2003 server
on the new 2008 R2 server.  My plan was simply to disable the dhcp service on the old windows server 2003 and then authorize the new Windows Server 2008 R2 DHCP Server.  However, after reading several articles, I understand that once you authorize
a new dhcp server, the old dhcp sever is unauthorized.  I also read where several people had major issues with the new dhcp server not handing out IP Addresses even though the new dhcp server was authorized successfully.  Since this is
a production network, I would like to employ the correct method to bring up the new dhcp server.  Also, if there is a problem, is there an easy way to go back to the original dhcp server?  Thanks for your help.
    FD
    Bob Andres

You can authorize multiple DHCP servers on a network.
You can activate and deactivate different scopes independently. So you can test DHCP functionality with a test scope.
Also, you can stop the old server in many ways that allow it to be online very rapidly: stop the dhcp server service, deactivate the scopes and yes even de-authorize the server.
My advice would be to built a test so you are confident (=very important) and not to fear the final onlining too much. DHCP is no rockets science. If you've replicated the configuration and are aware of possible IP Helper configurations on your routers/switches,
it should all work out fine.

  • CFBuilder 3 loses second server settings on cfbuilder exit/restart

I have two servers which I have connected to the cfbuilder. First one is localhost, which works okay, even debugger.
Second is vmware XP image, which i can connect to the builder via new add server setup window.
    settings:
    Name:Vmware XP
    type: Other
    hostname:192.168.21.2
    port: 80
    All other settings are blank.
At the mappings I have mapped my localpath to the server remotepath:
    Local path:C:\Projects\Coldfusion\Project
    Remote path: \\vmware-host\Shared Folders\Project.
After I do that, the server comes to the server list, shows running. CFBuilder can connect to rds server. But I cannot start debug yet, so I go to preferences and add the wmvare xp server to the project, and see that the rds configuration is ok (no password is needed, so I clear the login imfo and the prompt for password checkbox)
After that debug works, and all is well.
Then after I shutdown cfbuilder, and restart it, ONLY the localhost server is found! the vmware xp is nowhere, it has just vanished from the server list. And of course debugger won't work because the project has no server attached (even though project properties show that the vmware xp is selected, it seems only cfbuilder has not saved the server configuration). And I have to do this again to make debug work. this is VERY frustrating! Is there some hidden option which does not save the server setting or something? is there a way to export server settings from the builder?
If anyone couldhepl, that would be amazing!

This issue was fixed in the new ColdFusion Builder 3 installer (released in December with the updated ColdFusion 11 installers, but not advertised to anyone).  You'll have to download the new installer, uninstall CFBuilder, and then reinstall using the new installer.
Why they couldn't roll it out as an update through the Eclipse updater (like they have previous CFBuilder 3 updates) is beyond me.

  • Thunderbird TORbirdy configuration with email server settings???

When I add my hotmail email account to thunderbird it is working fine i can send and receive emails. When i then proceed to add on Torbirdy it will still work. However, when I try to add a hotmail email account after Torbirdy has been added on to thunderbird it doesn't work properly, i can still send emails but i can not receive messages in my inbox. This is strange because i checked the server settings and everything is correct.
When i add my bitmessage email account to thunderbird it is working fine also and i can send and receive emails. When i add on torbirdy it will still work. When i try to add a bitmessage account after Torbirdy has been added on to thunderbird it doesn't work at all, meaning i can't send or receive emails i just get that error SMTP not configured properly or something like that.
Does anybody have this same problem or know what might be going on here because i have tried just about everything and nothing is working for me.

  • Server 2012 R2 DHCP authentication error (1046-DHCP)

Hello all, here is my story, hope someone can help me solve it.
    Goal :
Getting the DHCP running on windows server 2012 R2
    Current situation :
We have two different domains in one forest (domain-A & domain-B).
Domain-A has several w2k8r2 servers. In Domain-A we have two server 2008 R2 domain controllers (serverA1 & serverA2). On both servers the DHCP rule is installed and running.
Domain-B has several w2k8r2 servers. In Domain-B we have two server 2008 R2 domain controllers. Both servers don’t have DHCP server role !
We installed 2 w2k12R2 servers (server-b1 & server-b2)  in domain-B and promoted to domain controller. We installed the DHCP server role on server-b1 & server-b2 configured the failover. The domain function lever is still w2k8r2.
    The change :
In domain-A we unauthorized the DHCP server-A1 & server-A2 and deleted the DHCP server role.
Restarted server–A1 & server-A2 and checked if the DHCP server role is removed.
    In domain-B we restarted server-B1 & server-B2. We authorized the DHCP on server-B1 & server-B2.
    The error :
The DHCP didn’t go online, it gives the following error message in the event viewer (this is the only error message about the DHCP server)
    Eventid 1046, DHCP-Server
The DHCP/BINL service on the local machine, belonging to the Windows Administrative domain Domain-B, has determined that it is not authorized to start.
It has stopped servicing clients.  The following are some possible reasons for this:
This machine is part of a directory service enterprise and is not authorized in the same domain.
(See help on the DHCP Service Management Tool for additional information).
This machine cannot reach its directory service enterprise and it has encountered another DHCP service on the network belonging to
a directory service enterprise on which the local machine is not authorized.
    Some unexpected network error occurred.
    Tried solutions :
    1) checked the local network settings, the dns server is the one in the old forest (domain-A) this is correct !
    2) Checked with adsiedit.msc if there was still an entry that was looking at server-A1 & server-A2. Nothing found. 3) I unauthorized the 2 new servers (server-b1 and server-b2) I installed a new w2k12R2 server in domain-A1, installed the dhcp server role
only. Tried to authorizes the dhcp server but the exact same error.
looking forward to all the ideas, and the solution
    J
    Design is the Technology

    Hi,
According to your description, when we installed a new windows server 2012 r2 in the domain A and only installed the DHCP role, the authorization was still not success. So please check if the unauthorized and authorized process was success. To verify if
the DHCP servers have been authorized, please try to run netsh dhcp show server
command, then we can see the DHCP server which was authorized. And you mentioned that you have checked with ADSIEdit to see if there was an entry. Yes, we can make full use of ADSIEdit. If a DHCP server was authorized successfully, there must be an
entry about the DHCP server in the ADSIEdit. So please check if there are some entries in the ADSIEdit of all your DCs in the domain. Ensure that only one entry about this new windows server 2012 r2 in the ADSIEdit.
If there are different in the several DCs, please try to use AD replication to make the data consistent.
And we must log on the server as an administrator to complete this operation.
To check the entry, please follow steps below,
    1. Start adsiedit.msc.
    2. Open the Configuration container.
    3. Expand Services.
    4. Expand Net Services.
    Best Regards,
    Tina

  • Cisco Prime TFTP Server Question

Our organization recently installed Cisco Prime 1.3 on a Linux box.  I am used to using the older WCS which also had a built in TFTP server.  The old WCS was installed on a Windows Box and thus I was able to navigate to the TFTP server using Windows Explorer and the UNC path.  However, I cannot seem to access the TFTP server on the new Prime 1.3 server via that method.  I have verified that the TFTP and FTP servers are both enabled in Prime server settings and I have also verified that I can access the FTP port via a PC on the network and that the WLCs on the network are sucessfully backing up to the Prime TFTP server each night.
How can I access the TFTP server to retrieve these WLC backups if needed?

you need to enable root access.  then you can scp the files out of the directory easily enough.
    from cli
    root_enable
    follow prompts
    root
    psswd - set password
should be abel to ssh as root at that point, if you can want to say it's /localdisk/tftp, or just ls /localdisk
