Adding a new Characteristic in live COPA table

Dear Friends
My client is using COPA for reporting purpose. Now the client need to add one more charachteristic in COPA table ie CE1XXXXX for doing better analysis. And the propsed character is maintaining in customer master data also. Can anybody teel me about:
    Is it possible to add a new character in a live COPA table ?
    If possible what all precaution we need to take for adding a new character and what is the impact of the same? or
    My client is having some character field in the COPA Table CE1XXXX which is not using at all. So is it possible for me to use that

    If we make any modification in COPA, what will happen to the datas stored in the COPA table ?
Thanks & Regards

Hi Jo ,
1. Is it possible to add a new character in a live COPA table ? => Yes , it is possible to add new characteristics in Live- COPA . You have to regenerate the Operating Concern again . Please do the changes at the time.. when no Sales and FI entries are taking place .. as during the time you are changing.. any billing documents created cannot be released to accounting as COPA will not be active at that moment .
2. If possible what all precaution we need to take for adding a new character and what is the impact of the same? => Please do the changes at the time.. when no Sales and FI entries are taking place .. as during the time you are changing.. any billing documents created cannot be released to accounting as COPA will not be active at that moment .
3. My client is having some character field in the COPA Table CE1XXXX which is not using at all. So is it possible for me to use that
field for the new character.=> You can have maximum of 50 characteristics and 120 value fields allowed
in an Operating Concern. If some characteristics are customer defined characteristics and are not used.. you can use them.. but you have to re-think on derivation strategy to derive the characteristics in COPA document .
4. If we make any modification in COPA, what will happen to the datas stored in the COPA table ?=> Data will remain as it is. No changes will be there in old data . But if you want to rederive the new characteristics in the OLD COPA documents .. you have to perform the COPA realignment transaction KEND ..
Hope it clarifies all your queries. Please revert back for any further clarifications

  • Adding a new field to a Z table

    We have a Z table on which we have created a datasource. We have created a virtual cube on this datasource and queries are built on this cube. This setup is present on Dev, Quality and Prod environment.
    Now we have added a new field to the Z table in Dev. We will be creating a new Infoobject for this new field and will be adding it in the Virtual Infoprovider and also in the queries.
    1. Do we need to replicate the datasource so that newly added field is visible to the datasource? If no, is there any way?
    2. When I have to transport this to Quality and Prod, do I have to capture all the components and objects (Table,Datasoure,Virtual Cube Queries)? If no, what should I capture in the transport request?

    Hi,
    First, you have to regenerate the datasource in order to add the field:
    1) Log on to source system (where Z table is stored) and go to transaction RSA6.
    2) Select the root node and click Expand (icon with '+' sign).
    3) Search for your datasource (you can use the binoculars icon).
    4) Click on Change.
    5) Verify that the field appears on the list.  Make sure that "Hide field" and "Field only known on client exit" options are not marked for this field.
    6) Click on Save.
    7) Select "Datasource" -> "Generate" (CTRL+S) menu option.
    8) Use RSA3 transaction in order to verify the new field appears on test extractions.
    Then, to replicate the datasource in BI:
    1) Log on to SAP BI and go to RSA1 transaction.
    2) Go to "Modeling" -> "DataSources" section.
    3) Search for your datasource and right click on it.  Select "Replicate metadata" from context menu.
    4) Add the new InfoObject to the VirtualProvider.
    5) Update the transformation which joins the DataSource to the VirtualProvider.
    As far as transport requests are concerned, even though it requires more work, it is a good practice to group objects in different transport requests according to their type:
    In the source System (R3 for instance):
    1) One transport request with the table.
    2) One transport request with the datasource and its structure.
    In BI:
    1) One transport order with the datasource replica.
    2) One transport order with the new InfoObject(s).
    3) One transport order with the modified VirtualProvider.
    4) One transport order with the modified transformations from the datasource towards the VirtualProvider.
    5) One transport order with the Queries and their elements.
    I hope this helps you.

  • Adding a new field to a DB table

    Hi,
    I am working on 4.6C.
    The requirement is to add an extra field to a database table which already has data in it...
    Will this effect the system in any way...if I add a field with the data in the table.
    What precuations do i have to take before adding an extra field to a DB table.
    I was wondering what will happen when i need to transfer the TR.. Basically the data is there in Production and Quality and not in development... so it will not be a problem in development...
    I mean changing the structure of the table with data in it ... Is it Ok...
    Thanks & regards

    Hi Sam,
    you can add a new field to any database table if even
    if contains data in production, only thing to do is u just
    have create an append structure to that table and in that
    append structure just create the new field.
    NOTE : Naming Conventions as follows:
    For Append Structure e.g :
    In se11 enter Table Name and select change button.
    now select GOTO option in the menu bar and select APPEND STRUCTURE option.
    now the screen shows u an default name for ur append structure, so dont change the name
    just hit enter button and
    now enter the your new field name with two Z's infront of the field.
    e.g if ur field name is MATNR then enter ZZMATNR as ur field in the append structure.
    and now save and activate and also adjust in the DATABASE UTILITY.
    thanks & regards,

  • Adding a New row in Workbook above Table values

    Hi,
    I have created a Workbook for which i need to add 2 additional rows manually at the top.  I added a row by deleting the Blue color line (with word 'Table').  But when i refresh the workbook, the blue color line is appearing again and the row which i added disappeared.
    How do i make this possible?  Is there any way through which i can add the lines just above the Table values?
    Any help on this will highly be appreciated.
    Regards,
    Murali

    Hi,
    As per my view , Table name was written in the Backend with VB script hence its require change that first later you can include the Additinal rows .

  • Adding a new column to a big table is very slow

    All,
    I am trying to add a column to a table with defaul value as 0. The table has about 15M rows. The alter table statement is extermely slow.
    I am using 11.1.0.7 on windows.
    Thanks in advance

    Please be careful when using this new 11g feature that can add columns to tables without updating each row. If you use a default value on a new not null column, update triggers that reference that column's :new value could have problems. There is a bug that has been around for at least 3 years that Oracle claims is "not a bug" that could cause problems in your triggers.
    The issue is that triggers will still see null for the :new.column value even though it has a not null default. Even though you can select from the table and the results will show the default value, which it pulls from the data dictionary, the trigger cannot handle it. It appears to pull the value from the data block, not the data dictionary. So if it has never been updated, those two values will be out of synch. The fix, shown below, it to update each row.
    For example, in 11.2.0.2:
    1. Create a new table, insert one row, and add a new column (not null, with default value):
    create table t (c1 number, c2 number);
    insert into t values (1,1);
    alter table t add (c3 number default 0 not null);Select from it and everything looks fine. The value for C3 is 0, my default. Perfect.
    SQL> select * from t;
            C1         C2         C3
             1          1          0My new column C3 looks fine. Even though that row was never updated, my query pulled the default value of 0 from the data dictionary. Great!
    But now add a simple trigger:
    create or replace trigger t_bur_tr
    before update on t for each row
    begin
      :new.c3 := :new.c3;
    end;
    /I am updating C1, one of my original columns. The trigger looks at the new value of C3 anyway, but because I am not updating it, it should equal its existing value. But this is what I get:
    SQL> update t set c1 = 9999 where c1 = 1;
    update t set c1 = 9999 where c1 = 1
    ORA-01407: cannot update ("AMARTIN"."T"."C3") to NULL
    SQL> The workaround is to update every row. (Defeating the purpose of the cool new 11g feature that can supposedly add columns without updating each row.)
    SQL> update t set c3 = c3;
    1 row updated
    SQL> commit;
    Commit complete
    SQL> select * from t;
            C1         C2         C3
             1          1          0
    SQL> update t set c1 = 9999 where c1 = 1;
    1 row updated
    SQL> select * from t;
            C1         C2         C3
          9999          1          0 Now it works as expected.
    Just a heads-up on this unexpected feature. Not a bug? Sure looks like one to me.
    Edit: Appears to be fixed in 11.2.0.3

    Hi,
    Do u want to know about the authorization means go to table maintenance generator first.
    Now get the authorization object of your table.
    Goto transaction SU21.
    List of object class will be displayed.
    Double click the object class BC_A.
    Now a list of object will be displayed.
    Double click the object S_TABU_DIS (Table Maintenance)
    U will find wat all fields used in tht, ACTVT is the field which specifies the activities of ur table.
    Reward mark if this is useful.

  • Issues with Writing back data to Planning Cube After adding a new characterstic

    Hello,
    We have two cubes and a MP on top of it. ( Reporting Cube and Planning Cube ). An aggregation layer has also been built and so does a planning BEx query on top of it.
    Before Scenario: things were working fine as we were able to write back data to planning cube using the BEx.
    After Scenario: We created a new Dimension in the planning cube and added a new characteristic ( lets call it ZX_KEY ) . This Characteristic holds the concatenated values of some of the other characteristics in its master data tables . ( For ex: Account_Customer ID_Country-code_Industry-code ).
    This new characteristic is also present in the reporting cube and has been added and transferred to MP.
    This new characterstic was added to the planning BEx query as one of the rows and we executed it the analyzer. After entering the required values for all characterstics ( including the newly added ZX_KEY ) and the key figure values, we tried saving it. Now this is where the Analyzer is throwing up this error..
    ~~Characterstic combination cannot be assigned to part provider ~~
    ~~Characterstic 'ZX_KEY'; Characterstic value 'R123000000_12_US_TX'~~
    ~~ Entered values are incorrect:Correct before navigation ~~
    The value that we are entering ( R123000000_12_US_TX ) is picked up from the master data table of ZX_KEY by double clicking and selecting it from the fetched values. So i am not sure as to why its throwing up the above error. Request your help on this please.
    regards,
    Karthik

    Hi,
    Try to check that all characteristics are correctly assigned at multiprovider level.
    hope it helps

  • VC - new characteristic does not show in PS BOM explosion / CU50

    Hello World,
    we added a new Characteristic to a class that is basis for a Material BOM explosion. In transaction CU50, the new characteristic can be configured by selecting its single values and the result shows up correctly in the BOM explosion.
    Unfortunately, it is does not show up in the BOM explosion result of the SAP PS module @ Network Activity where the explosion is done concerning to our biz process. All other characteristics explode properly in the PS BOM explosion. I have no clue about the difference of the newly added characteristic is that makes it behave differently (only) in the PS system, not showing up in the result.
    In CU50 @ Menu Extras @ Result I found a trace of the difference, but cannot interpret it due to a lack of documentation of the resulting screen that is entitled "Configuration : Result". Here, in table "Detail List", only the faulty new characteristics show additional extra Dependency entries with a light green background that cannot be found with all other characteristics in the same table. These extra entries can be drilled down by double-click and produce a pop-up window that shows some status information and the dependencies source code.
    Question: what do the extra entries of dependencies say, why are they shown and why not at other characteristics?
    By understanding this difference I hope to find the reason why these characteristics are not exploded in the PS module (which is my primary question).
    Thank you for a helpful answer!

    Hi Jong - Moon cho,
    Please check following setting,
    1.Consider setting the Individual/Collective indicator to 2. (MRP 4 view)
    2.In order to get dependent requirements from the planning of configurable materials, components should not be configured with strategy group 70 or 59.

  • COPA - How to add table when create new characteristic

    Hi all,
    I want to create new characteristic in COPA, that is batch (as currently, FG's price is manged by batch).
    I find that this value is maintain in table VBRP. However, when I create new characteristic, I dont is this table in current list.
    Please tell me how can I  add this table ?
    Step by step what I did is:
    1.KEA5: create new characteristic
    2. enter characteristic name
    3. choose "transfer from SAP table"
    4. because it doesnt have table VBRP in the this, so I type directly "Table Fields --> Table"
    5. Systems show mesg "Enter valid reference table"
    Please tell me how can I  add this table ?

    Hi Emily,
    Pls check the SAP Note 111232 which gives similar solution that of you are looking for...
    Follow the procedure...
    Please create a characteristic by transferring it from table VBRP and
    then change the automatically from system defined TKEZU entries like
    the note 111232 explains.
    The way to solve the problem would be to change the assignment
    table TKEZU by exchanging VBRP with KOMP in the table name:
    (1) Delete the following entry in table TKEZU (you can maintain TKEZU
    with view V_TKEZU in transaction SM30):
    Characteristic, B Tran, Table, Field name, Offset, Length
    (2) Add the following entry to table TKEZU:
    Characteristic, B Tran, Table, Field name, Offset, Length
    XXXXX KEDR KOMP BWTAR
    (3) Generate the environment of your operating concern.
    Pls revert with result...

  • Copy the data from first line while dynamically adding a new line in table

    Hi,
    1. There is a table
    2. An add button adds a new line to the table using 'AddInstance'
    3. A record is entered in the first line
    4. When the add button is clicked it adds a new line and along with it copies the data entered in the first line
    My question is how to copy the data from the first line and show it in the new line added. This is required so that user can use most of the common values in the first line.
    Thanks,
    Nikhil

    You can use the following Java Script in the Click event of the button.
    // Get the number of rows in the table
    var nrows = xfa.resolveNodes("page.table.DATA[*]").length;
    // Add a new instance(row) to the table
    page.table.addInstance.instanceManager(1);
    xfa.form.recalculate(1);
    // Copy the values from the first line to the newly created row
    page.table.DATA\[ nrows \].field1.rawValue = page.table.DATA\[ 0 \].field1.rawValue;
    ..........field2
    ..........field3

  • New Characteristic in Report Painter using table CCSS

    Dear all,
    Can someone help me add characteristic "Original Business Transaction" COBK-ORGVG into a report painter report that is using table CCSS.
    Any help would be appreciated and points will be assigned.
    Kind regards to all.
    Orestis Chaitas

    I am designing the P&L report and I want to split my R&D expenses split down by Internal Orders. Since, I have not seen Internal order field in summary table of new GL..ie., FAGFLEXT  table.
    I want to know how this can be achieved in the same report in report painter.
    I am talking this issue from Report Painter point of view where each report is based on library , which is defined per summary table.(ie., Library can refer to only one table....finding it odd to believe there is no join in reporting tool).....
    Thanks and let me know if you want to know more on the issue I am facing.

  • Adding a new table in smart form

    HI,
    I want to add a new table to a smartform. like say i want to print LIKP-ROUTE in the main window of the smart form, (islikp like likp)
    I have added this table in the table tab of form interface, then in the mainwindow, i have added a new loop and mentioned
    islikp into islikp.
    and in text i have mentioned
    route : &likp-Route&.
    But its giving a dump.
    Do i have to a create a new program and add the function module.
    pls suggest.
    Thanks,

    If you are passing the internal table values from the driver program, then you need to export the internal table from the driver program and have to declare it in the 'Tables" tab of the form interface in the smartform.
    Eg:-
      CALL FUNCTION wrk_funcmodu
        EXPORTING
      ARCHIVE_INDEX              =
      ARCHIVE_INDEX_TAB          =
      ARCHIVE_PARAMETERS         =
         control_parameters         = st_cntrl
      MAIL_APPL_OBJ              =
      MAIL_RECIPIENT             =
      MAIL_SENDER                =
         output_options             = st_outopt_info
      USER_SETTINGS              = 'X'
          invoiceno                  = wrk_doc_num
          invoicedt                  = wrk_doc_dt
       IMPORTING
      DOCUMENT_OUTPUT_INFO       =
         job_output_info            = st_prnout_info
      JOB_OUTPUT_OPTIONS         =
        TABLES
          it_likp                = it_likp
    If the internal table value is not passed from the driver program and if it has to be used inside the smartform then declare the internal table in the "Global definitions", under the tab "Global data".
    *intenal table declaration
    Variable name  type assignment            Associated type
    IT_LIKP            TYPE TABLE OF     LIKP
    WA_LIKP             TYPE          LIKP
    loop the internal table it_likp to loop into the work area wa_likp.
    drag and drop(from the fiel list) the work area field to the text element.
