Adding a new email address to Mail

I recently decided to create a new email address to replace my old one.  I contacted my provider and had them direct all new mail on the original email address to the new one.  I changed my pop server setting on my MacBook Pro in Mail.  But now I have two inboxes - one for each email address.  Some emails are in the original email account, some in the new one.  When I reply to an email it gives me the option to send it from either email address.
I just want one inbox and everything to point to the new email address.  I just want to keep it very simple but don't want to lose any of my old emails either.  Can anyone help me?

My partner now needs an email address for his own online banking account. I'm looking for the easiest way to do this under my mac account.
Saved email folder was an option on the vertical pane under "Inbox" "Sent Mail" "Junk Mail." I used it to store important incoming emails.

    Welcome to Apple Discussions.
    Select (click) the "alarm" field in the event Info window, then choose "Email" from the drop down menu. Click and hold that selection, and you will then be presented with all of the email accounts which are listed in your Mail application, and your "My Card" in your Address Book application.

    I'm trying to set up a second email address on my new .mac mail account and I'm stuck. What would be the account description/type/ingoing server/outgoing server for a new account. I've read the directions on mail help to no avail. Also, suddenly my "saved email" option on the left vertical bar is gone. I assume it's because the box got too full (i really liked it . Does anyone know how to access/empty/make it reappear as a mail function ?

    I have a gmail address that I use for most of my email needs, but I just got a new college address so it would be nice if I could consolidate the two inboxes using Mail. Is there a way to do that?

    Just create a new email account for you new address - Mail preferences - click on Accounts - click on the "+" button to add a new account.

We recently added a third account, but Thunderbird does not find or download emails into this account. All the settings are identical for all three accounts. What's up?

    You have provided no details or mention of error messages. No one is going to begin to guess what your issue might be.
    A good start would be to post your Thunderbird troubleshooting info so people might have a place to start.
    From the Help menu select Troubleshooting Information.
    Make sure to clear the box to Include Account names so no personal data is displayed.
    Now click Copy Text to Clipboard.
    Come back here and paste that info into a reply window.

    Have you already established a new email account with an email provider such as Apple, Yahoo, Google, etc.? From the email provider you will need to know the email address ([email protected]), and the password for the account. If this is a common used provider such as iCLoud, MS Exchange, Google, Yahoo, or AOL that is all you will need to know Mail will fill in the rest of the information automatically. For other accounts you will need to know the acount type (POP3 or IMAP), the URL for the POP or IMAP server, the security type for the server, the URL for the outgoing email server (SMTP) and the security type for it. Don't panic over all this, most email providers have instructions on their site for setting up Apple Mail -- you just have to find it.
    Once you have the information together, open Mail then on the menu bar at the top of the screen select Mail > Preferences > Accounts. Click on the plus sign at the bottom of the list of accounts and start by entering your new email address and password. Mail will then attempt to fill in the rest of the information it needs. If it is unable to do so, you will have to fill in the information yourself hopefully following the instructions provided by the email provider.

    I have my own domain name registered with a third party which I add forwards to which arrive in my thunderbird in tray and it is easy to add a new one to forward to my email server into thunderbird.
    But cannot find out how to add the address the from box without adding a new email address?
    I did manage it a few years ago with an old version of thunderbird but I have just move over from XP pro
    to 7 Pro and had to install the new Thunderbird so must either be forgeting the simple or going daft in my old age!!

    You need to add them.
    One possible route is to add a new address as an alternative identity for an existing address.
    Tools|Account Settings|{select account}|Account settings→Manage Identities

    So you have one account on FormsCentral with "Email A" and wanted to get Notifications at "Email B", you added "Email B" to the Notifications which also adds the user as a Collaborator on the form. 
    Can you sign into FormsCentral using "Email B" and use the application?  Does the "Notifications" tab have an "!" mark on it showing you that a user is not yet verified?

  • Adding Email Addresses from Mail to Address Book

    I send out a lot of emails that I would like to save in my address book. Address Book automatically sorts the address by first name or last name. This makes it virtually impossible to locate daily or hourly all the emails that you saved to your Address Book. Especially when your Address Book has over 3,000 addresses. Is there anyway to save email addresses using Mail directly to a Group in the Address Book?

    Welcome to the discussions, Big.
    If you select an address in an email message you can drag it and drop it onto a group in Address Book, making a new contact and adding it to the group in a single operation. You can't do this from Mail's Previous Recipients window, though you can use the PR window, ordered by date, to see who you sent email to three days ago - but not hourly.

    Also will the apps that I have not bought with my money from App Store but just downloaded, can I still upgrade them? And what about if I have some music  and apps which were not brought from my iPhone 5c which I am currently using, but from my old iPhone 3GS from another Apple ID , will they be transferred again like they did before onto my 5c?

    I set up FaceTime and Messages on four different devices with only one Apple ID. I used the exact method that is described in the video that AnaMusic has provided to you in the link in her response above.  That method worked fine for my family, but you can create new Apple ID's just to use for FaceTime and Messages if you like. Many users prefer doing that as opposed to adding new email addresses.
    IMO - using unique email addresses (like in the video) makes sense, because we (my family) all have different email addresses anyway, and it was very simple to add each family members email address to both apps and remove my Apple ID email address as the contact address on each device.
    BTW .... if you are using your Apple ID on both devices - your phone number should be the number that is showing in the settings - not you daughter's. Did you set up the Apps with your Apple ID?

    Now I do want to let you know that your phone has a "main" gmail account. If this "main" gmail account was the one you deleted it may be best that you reset your phone and activate it to your new gmail address.
    The reason I recommend doing this is all of your purchased application information is also tied to your gmail.

    You should be able to delete an email account from the iPad by selecting it on the right-hand side of Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars and then tapping the Delete Account button on the popup, and there should also be an Add Account button on the right-hand side of that Settings screen

    Mail remembers previously used email addresses for a period of time. Those you no longer use will eventually disappear. After you have sent one or two emails to the new address the old address will move below the new one. Then after a period of time not sending to the old address it will disappear. Patience is the key.
