Adding a new link to Detailed Navigation

Hi,
I have created a new iview, now I have to display this iview in MSS by providing a link in the detailed navigation of the MSS role.
Can you tell me how add a new link in the detailed navigation iview ?

Yes, For finding the appropriate Workset, In User administrator, check what all roles and Groups are assigned to the user. This will have the PCD path of role aswell. Once PCD path obtained, Open the Role and Via "Trace delta link" option find the approproate MSS role and Workset. Open MSS workset or Role, and Add your iview.
if it doesn reflect even after adding in this, Go to System administration -> navigation and clear all cache and check.

How to disable or grey out a link in detailed Navigation

Hi All,
We have requirement in which few of the links in are to be displayed as greyed out or disabled in detailed navigation and in navigational pages. This is to stop the users from accessing the link for sometime say for a week or so.
I have managed to grey out the link in navigational area. But couldnt find a way to do it from Detailed Navigation. If i click on the link on detailed navigation, it would open the applicaton.
Kindly help me on how to disable or grey out a link in detailed navigation.

Hi Namit,
Open the particular page , and select dynamic navigation (from the right hand side corner Display drop down menu ) .
U will get all the links which r there in the detailed navigation.
and uncheck the visible property .

How to create links under Detailed Navigation Panel

Hi All,
Our reqt is to create many links under "Detailed Navigation Panel" so that portal users may click on any of those links to navigate to that particular iView.
For example. I have created 3 iViews ( A,B and C). In the "Detailed Navigation Panel" i would like to have three links( One, Two and Three). If user clicks "One", it should go to iView A.
Kindly help me how to do this. Many Thanks in Advance. Appreciate if any one could send me the detailed steps involved on this.

Hi Venkat,
As far as I understand your requirement, you don't want to have these links as part of the detailed navigation within the navigation hierarchy, but below, within the navigation panel, statically, right?!
For such a static solution, you could just create an iView displaying these links, and put that iView into the navigation panel of the desktop innerpage, see http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/b4/771158e4cb4bf6af9974380948db86/frameset.htm for the structure details (below the Detailed Navigation iView).

Links in detailed navigation

how do i add new links in the detailed navigation section? is it added in workset or page?

Hi Arun,
The Hierarchy of Portal object is iview, Page, workset, role. You can view application once the role is assigned to the user. If the entry point is role, role and workset appears in the Top Level Navigation (TLN) and the rest of the hierarchy appears in Detailed Level Navigation. Usually the no of items in TLN is 2. We can change it to 1,2 or 3 depending on the requirement and the rest if any will appear in the DLN. So we cannot say which object appears in the DLN.
Also there is concept of Workset within Workset, Page within Page. It all depends how the object is packaged.

Open iviews in new window from detailed navigation context menu function

hello,
when we click in the detail navigation menu and in the context menu (because many of ours users are used to right click to open a link in a new window on the internet) on the functionnality "open in new window", the start page is always display instead of the corresponding iview ...
could you tell me if there is a configuration into the portal to :
1- suppress the function "open in new window" from the context menu in the detailed navigation !
2- make the iview displayed into the new window really the iview desired !

The frist part is very precise. Not possible. Period. The reason is that the links are calling JS and not directly calling a http target.
About the second part: Within the Light Framework, you create a Light Detailed Navigation. And in this case, the links are direct http links. So with that, you have what you want.

Hi, I have a number of reports(IViews) in my Detail Navigation Area. Is there anyway to get a direct link to a specific IView in the Portal?

You might want to read up about iViews and quicklinks, which are basically a named shortcut to an iView... Of course, the user needs to have the iView as one of the iViews in their role before they can launch it with the quicklink.

I am new to CRM 2007 and I need to create a custom application which would present a web form to the user(all CRM business roles), user would fill in few details and upon submit action of the form, I need to write the data into z tables in CRM 2007 Web-UI framework. Hello Surya,
explaining everything you would have to do in detail is a little bit to comprehensive for this forum. Best thing is to finde someone to explain it to you in person. A colleague or even one of the SAP courses.
To get you startet:
Most important is TX BSP_WD_CMPWB here you can create and test your new component.
From now on look in SPRO for the bold words it is in CRM->UI-Framework section.
- After you created it, you have to make it known in the component repository and create technical links.
- For the technical links you can create logical links.
- These links can be assigned to a logical link group which is then part of your navigation bar profile.
I hope this will give you a small idea how to get around. As mentioned above this topic is big enough to fill a whole day of training.

Adding a new link to workcenter group

I have to add a link of 'competitors' to the UI in the accounts workcenter group. I have created a component for the competitors but am not able to make out how do i link it to the 'Accounts' workcenter group.

Hi Radhika,
if your requirements are not matched by customizing the navigation bar/ workcenter you have to enhance the worcenter page. For this you need an enhancement set. Then enhance the standard component. There go to the runtime rep. editor:
1. add component usage
2.assigne your component to viewset
3. goto browser component structure and configure the view
Prerequisites: Please check your component if you have created a component interface in the runtime rep. editor and if your view is already added to the MainWindow of your component (browser componet structure).

Adding a new link in global button bar

I have not seen in any responsibility where global links are different. The requirement was to show the custom global link only on my custom pages which are accessed via custom responsibility. That's why i asked that question of showing global link for the responsibilty. I should have asked how to display custom global link only on a custom page and not on seeded pages. I went thorugh the dev guide and found that we can assign the property global menu of the page layout to display custom global links only for that particular page. I created a new global menu with one function. I assigned the global menu to all my custom pages. So now i am able to see the custom global link on all the pages accessible through my custom responsibility. My problem is solved now. Thanks for replying.

Detailed navigation panel doesn't show the link

Hi,
I created a role and I put an existing workset in it (delta link) but I removed 3 iviews out of 4 from the workset.
When I check the same workset in another role I see 4 links for 4 ivews in detailed navigation panel.
However I don't see any link in my new role's detailed navigation panel for the ivew.
I compared all the properties settings and saw no difference. Does anybody know how do i see my iview in detailed navigational panel?

Newrole1 : New Role that you created.
Workset1: Existing workset
iv1 existing iviews for the workset.
iv2
iv3
iv4
But you have only iv4 assigned to your NewRole1 that you created( delta linking the workset1 and removing 3 iviews)
But the iv4 does not exist under your role?
You can try checking the permissions on this iview.
Also, did you try checking with a different user being assigned the role or the same user using the exisiting workset.

Javascript error generated on localization of detailed navigation links.

I m working on an application in EP KM and doing localization. when I log in with language user I m getting javascript error.
error comes when I click on the link in detailed navigation. All the detailed navigation links has been translated in 4 languages.(Spanish,French,Italian,german). Special character problem is also a problem in detailed navigation, on Page and iviews its fine.
anybody idea about translation of detailed navigation and any error that is generated by that link. ( We have done translation using worklist translation manually. )
I cannot modify Script that generates errors. Because It is auto generated by SAP.
I watched preview of available pages in that particular language, I am getting no errors.
So I think there is no error with language.
So what can be the problem actually?

We are experiencing the same issue and believe it is a required change on the detailed navigation.

Detailed Navigation

According to several posts on sdn, the property "Launch in New Window" for Detailed Navigation has to be changed to "Display in Separate Window", if e.g. reports should open in a new window and not in the portal content area. The property has been changed, but reports are still launched in the portal content area, what could be wrong?

Hello Steffen,
Open the iview/page which you want to open in the same Portal Content area. In their change the poperty "Launch in New Window" to display in content area.
If that doesn't work, then iviews are added as delta link. Open the role -> then the iview/page and change the property there.
