Adding a "temporarily unavailable" message over the existing page

Does anyone know how to add a translucent cover over an existing webpage to show that it is temporarily under evaluation/renovation/ modification/etc?
I want to have a translucent grey sheet over my homepage that has a message to visitors that tells them the page is temporarily unusable. I don't want the message sheet to interfere with the website.

Make a translucent background image that is either one that can tile within its container or one that is larger than the largest expected viewport dimension that might visit your site.
Make an absolutely positioned div that is 100% width and as tall as the page would be plus about 50%. Place it at top=0; left=0. Put an appropriately styled centering element within the div that contains your message.
I think that should do it.

Adding custom message on the login page

I have done the following to try and get a custom message to display on the oracle login page:
1:
In the System Administrator Responsibility, went into the System Profile Options and searched for "Local Login Mask" The default value was 32, I set it to 96. This was done because 64 is the number to display a "Corporate Policy Message" on the login page (32+64 = 96).
2:
Switched over to the Application Developer responsibility, and went to Application->Messages. Here I did a search for "FND_SSO_SARBANES_OXLEY_TEXT". A result came back with current message text: "Corporate Policy Message". I changed this to a test message and hit save.

Still in Application Developer responsibility, I went to Other->Requests->Run and chose "Generate Messages", for parameters I chose:
Language: US
Application: Application Object Library
Mode: DB_TO_RUNTIME
while leaving the others blank. I submitted this request and it completed normal.

I logged out of applications, closed my browser and cleared my cache. I went to login into the apps and at the login page... it does display "Corporate Policy Message" but it never updated it to my custom one.
Question: Do I need to restart the HTTP server or something to see the updated results? I am confused why it will display "Corporate Policy Message" but the value for FND_SSO_SARBANES_OXLEY_TEXT is clearly changed. Even when you go back into it and look.
The Generate Messages conc prog is a spawned process so I cant find out what its doing.
Any help would be loved!

I deleted text messages over the last six months, and I want to get them back. I didn't have my I-Phone 4S backed up. Can I still retrieve those texts?? I read somewhere that texts are never really deleted for good.

Where would you expect to retrieve those deleted message if you didn't backup your phone?

How to give a message in the UI page if there is an error in AppImpl method

How to give an error message in the jsf page if the AppImpl method fails ?
Use case : I have a create form and a submit button which binds with a client interface method in Application Impl class. If the method fails due to some exception , how can I notify the users with proper error message ?

As the previous reply (casting the result) is the best solution here (separating model and view logic) but sometimes we do a shortcut.
may be it is not the best approach but it comes handy most of the time, this approach is also error-proven. we used it more than 2 years in large applications.
add the following code whenever you want to add message in UI be aware that we have add it in a jar and add that library to the model projects

you just need to add jsf library to the model applications and replace msg with your message.

When I attempt to use an iTunes Radio station, I receive a "temporarily unavailable" message every time

I used to be a frequent user of iTunes radio but it no longer works for me. I can't play my old stations and I can't add stations without getting an error message that the station is temporarily unavailable. It's been doing it for weeks now. I've updated the latest software and tried to close out the program fully. Any ideas?

CF Ajax - how to make a small form 'pop up' over the existing content

hi. i have a standard html form with quite a few elements
(selects, radio buttons, input fields, text areas etc)
some users will need the ability to supply additional data
but i only want the fields for this additional data to appear upon
request (to keep the form clean looking for the majority of users)
i want to make it when users click on an "add more detail"
button then the screen goes 'greyed out' and a new form appears
roughly 350px x 350px centred on their screens. ive seen this done
quite a lot recently and was just about to google javascript
tutorials to get started, then it occured to me i may be able to
utilise cf8's ajax tags to achieve this (which would be handy as i
really struggle with anything other than v basic javascript)
my requirements are:
1 button (or link) in my standard form that launches the
'more detail' form in a ?layer? over the top of the existing
content
2 when this happens the existing content is 'greyed out'
preventing uses from interracting with it until they either
complete this new form (or click the close button in that new form)
3 this form is to contain 2 text inputs and a submit button
4 i want to pass the data from this form back to the original
form when it is submitted (temporarily storing the data in hidden
fields within the original form) and will then ultimately pass this
back to the server when the original form is submitted
does anyone know if cfajax can help me with this (i dont need
the asynchronous server interaction stuff ajax offers only the
javascript to make my form pop up etc)
if not does anyone know what this behaviour is commonly
termed so i can google for it

For the last 6 days I have received the following message when trying to download movies & TV shows: The iTunes Store is temporarily unavailable. Please try again later." I have contacted support and have had no resolutions, after 5 times calling and a round of emails. I requested that my queu be cleared so I can try again, but no one will do it! HT1414 "Your itunes account is temporarily unavailable" message when I try to purchase a TVshow. However I just dowloaded updates to my apps.

I have tried three times to download a TV series from itunes in iPad. OS 5.1.1. I get an error that my Itunes account is temporarily unavailable. Yet I can download updates to my apps on the iPad with no problem. Any suggestions? Could this be a credit card issue? If so how do I check on that info?

There seems to be rather more of this type of issue being reported currently, than there normally is, there may well be a problem with the servers. I would be inclined to wait a while, then try again later.
