• Adding a url to flash buttons in Dreamweaver

I have a web site built and I have recently added Flash buttons and I need to add my web pages to the buttons. How would I go about doing this?

Let's say you create a button symbol.  Since it is a button, it is already a self animating object that will react to mouse interactions, but only visually at this stage.  The first thing you need to do to make it useful code-wise is to assign it a unique instance name.  So you drag a copy of it out to the stage from the library, and while it's still selected, you enter that unique instance name for it in the Properties panel... let's say you name it "btn1"
In AS3, to make a button work with code, you need to add an event listener and event handler function for it.  You might need to add a few (for different events, like rollover, rollout, clicking it, but for now we'll just say you want to be able to click it to get a web page to open.  In the timeline that holds that button, in a separate actions layer that you create, in a frame numbered the same as where that button exists, you would add the event listener:
btn1.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, btn1Click);
The name of the unique function for processing the clicking of that button is specified at the end of the event listener assignment, so now you just have to write that function out:
function btn1Click(evt:MouseEvent):void {
       var url:String = "http://www.awebsite.com/awebpage.html";
       var req:URLRequest = new URLRequest(url);
       navigateToURL(req);

• Assigning a URL link to button in a Flash Player

I've designed a player in Flash using Action Script 3. I've
built a rollover button into the player that users will click to
link to a new page. But where do I assign the URL for that button
to link to; there's no apparent field for this in the properties
inspector.
I was able to make it work by switching over to Action
Script 2 and assigning a "Go to Web Page" behavior to the button;
but I can only do this in Action Script 2 (where behaviors are
available), and I have to keep the page in Action Script 3 in order
to support other components (Slideshow Pro).
Surely there is a way to assign a simple URL link to a
button in Action Script 3. Thanks for the help,
Chris

yes, you need to write AS3 script in order to do so:
buttonInstanceName.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, navTo);
function navTo(e:MouseEvent) {
var url = new URLRequest('
http://www.theaddresshere.com);
navigateToURL(url);
place this on the first frame where you button is
instantiated, in a layer you name 'actions' - with the frame
selected, open the Actions panel (F9) and enter the script there.
replace the "buttonInstanceName" with the instance name of the
button on the stage you're assigning this method to, and of course
replace the address in the URLRequest parameter.

•  Why would certain users not be able to open a mail to url from a Flash swf on my website?

     Why would certain users not be able to open a mail to url from a Flash swf on my website?

1. Because they're using Android or iOS and can't see the Flash container.
2. Because they have Flash Player, but NOT Shockwave, which works for Interactive content like games and links in Flash containers.
3. ActiveX controls are blocking Flash content in IE.
4. Any of about a dozen other things.
As a web desginer since 2003, I can tell you that these days, it's a terrible idea to have Flash content in a website (outside of games that require it). Video should be HTML5. Navigation, content and other links should be HTML, CSS and/or Javascript ONLY, because placing them in a Flash container makes them invisible to literally half of your viewers or more, since SmartPhones can't and don't see Flash, and tablets don't either without special browsers, which may or may not work with embedded links.

• Instantiating module File could not be added at URL - Sandbox solution

I have a feature in a Sandbox solution in SharePoint 2010 that provisions pages into the Pages library.  It looks like this:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<Elements xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/sharepoint/">
<Module Name="Pages" Path="Pages" Url="Pages" RootWebOnly="TRUE" >
<File Url="Benefit.aspx" Path="Benefit.aspx" Type="GhostableInLibrary" IgnoreIfAlreadyExists="FALSE">
<Property Name="Title" Value="Step 1: What is the benefit?" />
<Property Name="BrowserTitle" Value="Step 1: What is the benefit?" />
<Property Name="PublishingPageLayout" Value="~SiteCollection/_catalogs/masterpage/BlankPageLayout.aspx, Core Blank Page" />
</File>
This works fine most of the time but if the page is checked out and I deactivate and reactivate the sandbox solution, I get the following error message in the logs:
Instantiating module "Pages": File could not be added at URL "Benefit.aspx":
If I discard the check out and try again it works.
Anyone got any ideas?
Caroline

The file Benefit.aspx looks like this:
<%@ Page Inherits="Microsoft.SharePoint.Publishing.TemplateRedirectionPage,Microsoft.SharePoint.Publishing,Version=14.0.0.0,Culture=neutral,PublicKeyToken=71e9bce111e9429c" %>
<%@ Reference VirtualPath="~TemplatePageUrl" %>

• URL Link to Specific SWF Slide

Is it possible once a Captivate 2 project has been exported
to HTML/SWF to have a URL link open the SWF file to a specific
slide number? For example if a Captivate 2 project is 20 slides
long, the user could click a link that would open the swf file to a
specific slide in the middle, say slide 10. Or can the html coding
that opens the Captivate 2 exported SWF file be set to open the
file to a specific slide? I am trying to avoid breaking up a multi
scene file just so users can access one or two slides and not have
to navigate through an entire file.
Thanks.

It's pretty simple to do with JavaScript actually and Philip Hutchison just released the latest version of his "Captivate Controller" a couple of days ago.
This allows you to control Captivate 2,3 & 4 movies from JavaScript commands in a simple and non-technical way.
You can read more about it and download it here: http://pipwerks.com/journal/2009/06/07/introducing-the-captivatecontroller/

• Adding a URL to BSP Page

Hello,
I want to add an URL to the BSP page, could anyone give me insights on this.
-Kewl

By adding a URL, do you mean that you want a link to another URL?  You could always a plain HTML <a href>.  Or you could use the HTMLB extension <htmlb:link>.  Examples of the HTMLB elements can be found in the sample app SBSPEXT_HTMLB and HTMLB_SAMPLES.
On the other hand are you needing help building a URL to another BSP application?  Or perhaps did your question have to do with navigation between pages or applications?

non-static variable this cannot be referenced from a
static contextIt has nothing to do with ActionListeners. Somewhere you're trying to access an object variable without a reference to any object, from the static context.
You know, being able to search for information is actually a good skill for programmers to have. You might want to acquire it, too.

• Help with adding a hyperlink to a button?

We have a simple little site we built in Catalyst and everything works great. The only problem is that we cannot figure out how to add a hyperlink to one of the buttons in the animation. We simply want to be able to click on the button and go to another site (the client's Facebook page specifically). Can anyone provide some insight? Thanks!

• How to find the Destination URL of a Button

I have a text field and a GO button,when I click on the GO button the information from the text field to the URL on the button.
I want to replicate the same thing on another GO button.
Basically I need the URI on the seeded GGO button.
Document:/oracle/apps/cs/knowledge/solution/search/webui/SolBSearchHeaderRN
Region:SearchCriteriaRN

what do you mean when you say
"when I click on the GO button the information from the text field to the URL on the button"
Do you mean that you see the link of the button as something when you hover over it and it has the value of text field appended to the link ?
If that is the case, this may not be a simple go button and could be a submit button instead of a simple button.
Thanks

• Javascript to dynamically change url in submit button

Hi guys
Is there anyone who can share the code to dynamically change the url in the submit button?
Thanks
Sam

Change the button to Regular button instead of Submit and write the code in the click event of the button.
(OR)
Keep the button as Submit and remove the URL in the button properties. Place the code in preSubmit event to set the URL for submit.
The code to set the URL in any of the above approaches:
this.resolveNode("#event").submit.target = "PLACE URL HERE";
Thanks

I am following the instructions to hyperlink URL to an image in an email, but once I paste the URL, the "ok" button is not highlighted so I cannot complete the task. What is the problem and how do I get around it?

I figured out if I took the http:// off the front of the URL, the "ok" button would highlight, but then link did not work. I tried just linking www.google.com to the image and the link did not work either. What gives?!

Latest update of Firefox is REALLY slow. Is it just all the extra functionality that has been added or is there a button I need to press to make it the same speed as it use to be? I'll have to start usin safari again as this isn't funny anymore
Can i retro grade back to the last version?

uninstalled firefox ....deleted all files still remaining under mozilla firefox directory in program files ... to avoid having to reprogram all my settings, reisntall all addons as well .. I did not remove anything from mozilla firefox that is stored in either appdata or under the windows users directory (if any)
... the as suggested reinstalled the latest version of the firefox browser using the link you provided in the email ..; tested and several issues still remain present and unresolved ....
so please this is urgent or I will have to jump browsers and start using chrome .. because we work 14 hours a day 6 (sometimes 7) days a week, to get ready for the launch of our newest venture and we cannot lose that much days on browser related issues ... so please instead of putting me through week long step process .. of do this .. do that .. can you please actually look into the issue from your end .. I use firefox for so many, many years thta I deserve this kind of support .. thnx Robert
