Adding HTML code

I've been given HTML code to add to a button for use with a
form but I'm not sure how or where to add this.
Any help would be much appreciated

It would be very hard to tell you anything other than "put it

without seeing more details (you can protect the innocent in
your posted

So - please show us the code you have received, and link us
to the page you
want to use it on, telling us where you want it to appear.

  • Adding HTML code corrupts (and destroys) site

    I was informed by Apple support that iWeb does not support adding HTML to your page (even though I did so in the Forms widget), and that the code corrupted my page (causing all kinds of font issues, blurry images, and wacky layout errors). They said I would have to rebuild the page from scratch (I have already spent hours building an intensive website that is now useless). I am skeptical that all these iWeb problems (font changes, wrong colors, layout chaos, blurry fonts, etc.) are caused by HTML code, so if anyone has any more info I would appreciate it. I am ready to throw iWeb in the garbage and go back to Dreamweaver MX!!! Thanks.

    not totally comfortable posting links to the site (its a business site and not mine)... if you search around for iWeb problems you will find many people having the same issues... when i tried fixing my original page (after deleting the page with the problematic code) the problems still occurred... when i redid the page completely the problems stopped happening (at least for now)... I was told by the Applecare person that the code had completely infested/corrupted the entire site and that it could not be fixed... that I would have to completely recreate the site again... what doesn't make sense is that such a glaring, fundamental problem on such a basic program goes ignored by such a powerful, inventive, flourishing company... disappointing to see all the issues/bugs that get officially ignored on these forums...

    Robert ~ Welcome to the discussions. In the upper right of this forum's main page is a Search Forum bar. If you enter:

  • Why is adding HTML code so difficult?

    I'm trying to add a weather widget into my book.  Yes, I've been spending a lot of time looking into dashcode and creating the widget from scratch, but I can't get it done.  Even though I got Xcode and dashcode installed, I'm not that technically inclined and can't figure out how to take this snippet:
    <script src="http://weatherandtime.net/swfobject.js" type="text/javascript" ></script><div id="div_weather_05" style="padding:0px;text-align:center; margin:auto auto;width:170px; height:220px;"><div style="padding:1px;position:relative; z-index:100; color:#FFFFFF; text-align:center;left:50px;top:182px; width:115px;height:auto;overflow:hidden;"><a style="margin:0px; padding:3px; color:#FFFFFF; text-decoration:none; font-size:12px;" href="http://weatherandtime.net/en/Asia/Sri-Lanka/Colombo-weather.html" title="Colombo Weather"><nobr>Colombo Weather</nobr></a></div><span id="swf_weather_05"> </span></div><script type="text/javascript" language="Javascript">swfobject.embedSWF("http://weatherandtime.net/weather_05.swf", "swf_weather_05", "170", "200", "10","weather_05.swf", {city: "19459",lang:"en"}, {menu:"false",wmode:"transparent",allowScriptAccess:"always"}, {id:"weather_05",name:"weather_05"});</script>
    and make it into a widget that I can just drag and drop into the book's HTML widget window.  Is there an easier way to do this?  Otherwise, unfortunately, I don't think I'll be able to use some of these key features.

    Seeing that your code is in <script tags>, you could try pasting it in the <body> of the index.html file, right after opening a new custom safari widget. The standard code view shows the main.js file, click on the double arrows next to the indicator to switch to the index.html file:
    After that you can simply deploy your widget to your disk (Make sure you don't deploy it to the dashboard).
    EDIT: Make a custom mobile Safari widget
    EDIT2: Apple mobile hardware does not run flash. So I guess you're out of luck with this piece of code. I deployed the code you showed to try it out myself, and while it gives no errors, it only shows the text "Columbo Weather" with a link to the site.

  • Missing Horizontal Rules After Adding HTML Code

    Hi iWeb Users,
    I added PayPal links to my site and on two of my For Sale pages the horizontals rules are missing from under my page headings. I have attempted for several days to correct this problem but I am unable to because I only have a basic understanding of HTML coding.
    I would greatly appreciate any help in fixing this small problem. Instructions on how to add the ~HR~ tag so the rule underlines my page heads is all I need. Help!!!
    The URL is <http://risingstargraphics.net>.
    Thanks for any and all input.

    The line on the For Sale page?
    I suspect that you may have accidently deleted it, to put it back open one of the other pages, click on the line in that page. Then Copy it, open the For Sale page and Paste, the line will land in the same place on the For Sale page as is was on the other page.

  • How to see html code in a php file using CS5.5 without using testing server?

    In CS5.5 when I open a page with php extention, DW does not show any html code in design view without me having to set up a testing server. In DW 8 it would open the same files and show me the html in design view. I have no need to test php code, I just need to alter the html. Is there a setting I can change to enable this in CS5.5? Thanks.

    Below is the code. I discovered that if I create a new php document not from
    a template, then I can see the html elements in design view. If I create a
    new page from a template and save it as html, design view still works, but
    if I save a new page from template and save it as php, I only see symbols
    for php and nothing else in design view.
    Thanks for your help on this.

        padding-left: 15px; /* adding the padding to the sides of the elements
    within the divs, instead of the divs themselves, gets rid of any box model
    math. A nested div with side padding can also be used as an alternate
    method. */
    a img { /* this selector removes the default blue border displayed in some
    browsers around an image when it is surrounded by a link */
        border: none;
    /* ~~ Styling for your site's links must remain in this order - including
    the group of selectors that create the hover effect. ~~ */
    a:link
    a:visited
    a:hover, a:active, a:focus { /* this group of selectors will give a keyboard
    navigator the same hover experience as the person using a mouse. */
        text-decoration: none;
    /* ~~ This fixed width container surrounds all other divs ~~ */
    .container
    /* ~~ The header is not given a width. It will extend the full width of your
    layout. It contains an image placeholder that should be replaced with your
    own linked logo. ~~ */
    .header
    /* ~~ These are the columns for the layout. ~~
    1) Padding is only placed on the top and/or bottom of the divs. The elements
    within these divs have padding on their sides. This saves you from any "box
    model math". Keep in mind, if you add any side padding or border to the div
    itself, it will be added to the width you define to create the *total*
    width. You may also choose to remove the padding on the element in the div
    and place a second div within it with no width and the padding necessary for
    your design.
    2) No margin has been given to the columns since they are all floated. If
    you must add margin, avoid placing it on the side you're floating toward
    (for example: a right margin on a div set to float right). Many times,
    padding can be used instead. For divs where this rule must be broken, you
    should add a "display:inline" declaration to the div's rule to tame a bug
    where some versions of Internet Explorer double the margin.
    3) Since classes can be used multiple times in a document (and an element
    can also have multiple classes applied), the columns have been assigned
    class names instead of IDs. For example, two sidebar divs could be stacked
    if necessary. These can very easily be changed to IDs if that's your
    preference, as long as you'll only be using them once per document.
    4) If you prefer your nav on the right instead of the left, simply float
    these columns the opposite direction (all right instead of all left) and
    they'll render in reverse order. There's no need to move the divs around in
    the HTML source.
    /* sidebar1 = left */
    .sidebar1
    .content
    .sidebar2
    /* ~~ This grouped selector gives the lists in the .content area space ~~ */

    premade flyout menu like Spry) ~~ */

    How do I see my web page's HTML code? I want to install Google Analytics and I have to insert the tracking code into a certain part of the web page's HTML code, but iWeb doesn't show me the code to manually manipulate it.

  • How to add a comment in a php file which has html code

    Hi
    I have a html file which I renamed .php after adding a form. I discovered that the html comment text I was using - <!--this is a comment --> - was affecting how the page rendered, particularly in IE9.
    My question is, now that it is a php file do I need to change all the comments syntax? I started to do it using the "apply comment" button in CS5 i.e. syntax: <?php /*?>form<?php */?>.
    Is this the right way to do it? It gives "php" icons in design view but appears to render ok.
    Thanks

    PHP comments:
    <?php
    //This is a comment
    This is
    a php comment
    block
    ?>
    Use PHP comments inside PHP scripts/code.
    HTML comments:
    <!--comment-->
    <!--this is
    an html comment
    block-->
    Use HTML comments inside HTML code.
    CSS Comments:
         /*comment*/
         /*this is
         a css comment
         block*/
    Use CSS comments inside CSS code (either embedded or external).
    JavaScript comments:
    //this is a single line comment
    //this is another single line comment
    /*this is a multi-line
    javascript
    comment
    Use JavaScript comments inside JavaScript code (either embedded or external).

  • RH Automatically Changing HTML Code for Links

    For some reason, RH is doing something to the links I create. In my stylesheet, I have the following code for links:
    a {
        color: #054abc;
        cursor: pointer;
    a:hover {
        color: #336699;
        text-decoration: none;
    a:active {
        color: #333333;
    When I create a link, the HTML code looks like this *at first*:
    <a href="Development_Plan.htm">Development Plan</a>
    But then, after I save the file and switch to HTML view, the code looks like this:
    <a href=" Development_Plan.htm" style="color: #0000ff; text-decoration: underline; ">Transcript</a>
    I am not doing anything other than saving the file, and that apparently causes RH to automatically add the style (color and text-decoration). Why is RH adding that? It's causing my links not to change color when you hover over them.
    How can I make RH stop doing that, so my links display as defined in the stylesheet?

    Hi,
    This is strange behaviour. How exactly do you create a hyperlink? I have seen this behaviour only with links that are empty or contain a single space.
    As a workaround, in your css, add the !important declaration to your hover styles:
    a:hover
    Although this isn't an elegant solution, it will overwrite the inline styling of the link and thus change colour on hover.

  • Effect html code of sap portal

    Hi all
    Along with our web team I am looking into re-skining the SAP portal and was just wondering if there is a way of effecting the html code generated for each page of it. I know you can change the CSS tags, images via the theme editor etc but was wondering if it was possible to actually change the html code. i.e. have the ability to remove certain <table> tags or add new div tags and assign a class to them which could them be re-styled by adding aditional code to the CSS file. Basically the more that can be accessed the better so any help/advice in this area would be much appreciated.

  • Displaying HTML code/document within a SIEBEL applet

    Dear All,
    I have a new requirement which is to integrate an external html document/code within a Siebel's applet in my Home Screen/View. This HTML code is DYNAMIC and it will change depending the user connected. It will give general informations.
    I tried to use a new calculated field in the relevant BC then I added it as control (HTML Type = Field - HTML Display Mode = DontEncodeData - Runtime = Y - Visible = Y) within the applet.
    Unfortunately the field property 'Calculated Value' is restricted to 255 caracters. Everything is fine when the HTML code length is less than 255. When it is greater because teh HTML code is more complex, I can not add a calculated field and the associate control due to the limitation (255 caracters).
    Any idea would be greatly appreciate.
    Thanks a lot.

    One way to get around this limit is to do the following. Split the information you need into several calculated fields and then add them together in one.
    Calculated Display Field = [Information Block 1] + [Information Block 2] + .....
    Where [Information Block n] is a calculated field too.
    Depending on the amount of data and where you need to display the field i.e. form/list applet
    you could use InvokeServiceMethod in a calculated field. Have a look here:

  • HTML Code for Full Website and Not Mobile. Site

    A frustration with iPhone browsers is that they force you to view the mobile website, as oppose to the full website, if a mobile site exists. Unfortunately, the mobile sites often do not provide the services the full sites do.
    Is there HTML coding that can be added to a link to get the iPhone to the full site?

    The sites that are directing you to a mobile site is using HTML code to do so. What you really want is for those site to NOT have code redirecting you to a mobile site.
    Many mobile website have a link on their mobile site that takes you to the full site. A good website developer might have the site place a cookie in your Safari that tells their site you prefer to visit the full site. After tapping on that link, the next time you visit the site you will most likely not be directed to the mobile site.
    But whether or not a redirect happens is the Perdue of the website developer.
    Try an alternate browser. Some, like Atomic Web, have a settings area where you can select the type of browser you are using. I have mine set to Internet Explorer. atomic Web then fools the website into thinking I'm on a computer instead of a mobile device and I'm never directed to a mobile site.
