Adding HTML5 animation from edge animation to captivate 8

I created a simple/small animation in Edge Animation, published it as .oam . In Captivate 8, Media, HTML5 Animation, selected the animation and it displayed on the slide. The problem is now, in the preview the animation doesn't play. I even published it on a web server and it doesnt show there either. Does anyone have any idea what is going on??

Just a suggestion: try to add a play button in Edge Animate, maybe the animation is so short that you don't have time to see it? What is its duration? I can insert OAM's in CP8.

Syncronize playbar with HTML5 content (from Edge) in Captivate

Hi there!
I am working on an e-learning and would like to add animations made in Edge (HTML5) and couple them with sound in Captivate.
I really liked working with Edge because the animations are so intuitive,quick and easy to make. But there is one big problem. I don't know how to synchronize these animations made in Edge to the playbar in Captivate.
When I preview the presentation and press on pause on the playbar the sound stops but the HTML5 animation continues. Is there a way to synchronize these?

If I use the audio in Edge Animate I will still not be able to link it to Captivate's playbar. I have to use Captivate for quizzes etc. Otherwise I could easily have made a playbar in Edge instead

Adding swf animation to Captivate Slide

Hello Forum Members,
I have a problem. I just used Flash (CS3 Pro) to make a small
animation that moves a few objects
across the stage, and has glow filters, etc. I have also
added eventlisteners for mouse over and mouse out on this swf. The
swf plays fine in standalone mode (in Flash Player, etc). I have an
object that gets created via action script in this swf as well as
objects already on the stage (design time).
I then insert this swf file into a Captivate (3.0) slide -
the animations do not play correctly, my object that gets created
in the swf timeline never appears, and the rollover/out actions do
not play. Am I not understanding the capability of Captivate to
"play" Flash animations? I was hoping to use this flash element in
my Captivate project.

Thanks for your reply! Here's a better explanation of my end goal.
I want to create a software simulation. I want my question to look and
function interactively in a limited way just like the piece of software. I
will then ask them to do a task using this software and mark them correct if
they finish it correctly.
For example, if I was using MS Word I want a master slide that includes the
menu drop downs and hover effects that would match the actual program. I
could use those over and over and each question just add the content unique
for the question.
Does that make sense? Can Captivate do that?

How do I add HTML5 animations from Adobe Edge in my Muse site?

For now, here are the steps to use Edge output in Muse.
Put all output files generated from Edge in the same folder that you want to export Muse output files. (keep all the subfolder structure e.g. edge_includes
In Muse, use Object->Insert HTML... menu to insert the following code:

</iframe>
Note
"Project-Header-r1v1.html" is a HTML file name that part of your Edge output.
Do not copy and paste the content in "Project-Header-r1v1.html" file directly since this refers to different jQuery file and it will also cause a duplicate Javascript include which break the output.
3. Export your Muse site to the folder.
Here's a movie showing Edge and Muse together:

Adding a script after the closure of previous script is the way to go i.e. right after the </script> tag.
So it should look something like below:

Cannot comment on one interfering with the other since it really depends on what exact code is there in the scripts. Google and Bing help resources will be able to help more with this.

Hi, I'm trying the same thing and just figured out how to get this working. When you publish your Edge Animate composition do the following:
Publish for Web and make sure all three checkbox options are deselected.
When you move your published files into your VS solution, make sure you copy over the "edge_includes" folder along with all other assets.
Open your Edge composition's HTML file and copy the Adobe Edge Runtime script and the <div id="" class=""> codes into the VS project's HTML file between the head and body tags respectively.
That should do it!

Loading times web view / html5 animations / edge hype

Hi,
I have been working with iPad publishing software quite a while now and have experienced Woodwing as well as DPS. I have come across an issue with DPS which I can't find a solution for. When creating web view content, I mean either normal websites or Html5 animations the loading times with DPS are to long and there is the issue of the spinning loading.gif.
Is there some way to speed up the loading time for everything which is loaded within the web view window? How would I for example speed up the time to load animations from Edge or from Hype?
From my point of view this is a crucial thing to be solved.
Also I know from working with Woodwing that they solved that issue and things regarding the loading time of web content/animations are running a lot smoother. ( and no I can't just use Woodwing I need to solve this with DPS )
Solutions welcome and info on when stuff like this will be solved as well.

Html5 animation: Flash CC vs. Edge Animate?

I've been using Flash for many years, and am now creating html5 animations. Just curious, why would I want to use Edge animate to create html5 animation, when I could just make an animation in Flash CC, and then export as html5 canvas? Do both Flash and Edge basically render the same thing (in terms of html/css/js), or are there differences? Thanks!

Re the topic of this discussion - I'd been wondering the same thing.
Until recently, I assumed there was no real difference other than the interface (I prefer the Edge layout - it's closer to video editing - but wish they would undo the changes made to the code editor since CC 2014. I need as many JavaScript hints as possible!).
But now I'm looking at the area of ebooks and there are problems with Edge animations on iPads, even though they are indeed HTML5. See Adobe discussion here: https://forums.adobe.com/message/6550864
On the one hand, iBooks may have a problem with content in iFrames. (I'm not into coding - but the Adobe guy in the other forum alluded to as much.)
On the other hand, even the GitReader app on iPad won't interact with the Edge animation within an iFrame. ...But it will with Flash & Captivate HTML output.
Could it be that Edge uses its own library of Edge JS, whereas the libraries used by Flash Captivate (CreateJS) are supported by iOS?
Whatever the reason, I'm now investing time in Flash HTML5 content over Edge.

Edge animation works in browser preview from edge and muse but not in chrome when published

I have an Edge animation that worked fine in Chrome, Safari and IE.
The last time I published my Muse site (To BC) again (since update to CC2014) it no longer worked in Chrome!
Preview in browser (Chrome) from edge works, preview in browser (Chrome) from Muse works, publish and it doesn't work in Chrome (but does in Safari and IE).
Have been trawling for possibilities but I'm not that web techy! Any help would be appreciated

I don't remember specifically what fixed it at all as I'd done all of the following:
Removed Muse and Edge and prefs
Updated Muse and Edge
trashed cache in Chrome
copied the contents of the Edge project / stage into a new project and saved as cc2014 version
re-published the whole site from Muse
After many attempts it started working again but I can't say that it was one thing in particular - sorry about that.

not natively. edge exports html and javascript files, not video files, or frames.
however, you could use a third-party program that has a video screenshot function and make one that way.

How to embed Adobe Edge HTML5 animations into carousel instead of images.

Is the above question possible? I cannot figure out a way to embed any of my html5 animations (created in Adobe Edge) into a carousel. I have tried creating a nested slider inside of Edge, and I have tried hard coding it, but can not figure out an appropriate solution.

Slideshow is now working great, but I cannot get my animations to exist within the slides themselves. I tried them inside this html but not inside the slideshow, and they work fine, but if I try to add them into the slider, nothing happens and that particular slide is simply blank. I have only tried the first one but it is not working. Here is my code:

Is it possible to import a png sequence to be used as an animation into Captivate 7?

Knowing that png files come into Captivate quite well, I am wondering if it is possible to bring in a sequence of png files, that are an animation, without having to bring them in one at a time and lining them up on the timeline one after the other?

Thanks for your reply. However, I have tried going the route of animated gif files already with mixed results (more bad than good) and was hoping there was an easy way to drop in a sequence of png files, as I would imagine that they would all show.
But may I ask the settings (to save the files) you used for your animated gif files? The problem with mine was that the animations would not play (most of the time) when I would run the slides with the animations in IE and Safari. The animation looked fine in Captivate but as soon as I pushed them out to HTML5 animations would not play. I have been using Photoshop with the following settings in the image below:
Also, if you could let me know if you tested your course with any gif animations in IE or Safari and let me know your results, I'd really appreciate it.
