Adding Management Console After Solaris 10 Install

What packages must be installed to add Sun Managment Console to a base Solaris 10?
I've added SUNWmccom (and the SUNWj3dev package it depends on); but, this does not install the Management Console's binary, /usr/sbin/smc.
Thank you.

Answering my own question :-}
Per Solaris 10 "System Administration Guide: Basic Administration" Chapter 2 "Working With the Solaris Management Console (Tasks)":
SUNWmc
SUNWmcc
SUNWmccom
SUNWmcdev
SUNWmcex
SUNWbmc
SUNWCprog

    Java Bug 4838130:
    http://developer.java.sun.com/developer/bugParade/bugs/4838130.html
suggests to trace the problem by running the java application with JAVA2D_DEBUGFONTS defined, so try
    env JAVA2D_DEBUGFONTS=1 smc
The bug report also documents a workaround: Set the environment variable JAVA_FONTS to

  • Solaris Management Console (SMC) - Solaris 9 x86

Ive just installed Solaris 9 (x86) version. Im unable to install Solaris Management console.
I was using below command to add listed patches:
pkgadd -d . SUNWpmgr SUNWrmui SUNWlvmr SUNWlvma SUNWlvmg
Im unable to find these packages on cd1. Somehow theyre on cd2. These cds are direct extract from Suns web site.
Anyway when I run the pkgadd command Im getting the following error:
    No package associated with (SUNWpmgr)
When I look into the SUNWpmgr, there are 2 files (pkgmap., pkginfo.) and 3 dir (install, archive, reloc)
    Same with other packages
    Please help me.

I was able to correct this problem on my server
The .server file is the smc java keystore that contains
the private/public key pair for SSL
You can create this file by executing
    cd /usr/sadm/lib/smc/bin
    certtool -genkey
Once the keys are generated execute
    /etc/init.d/init.wbem stop
    /etc/init.d/init.wbem start
if your smpatch no longer works

  • Error connecting 8i Enterprise Manager Console after installation

Dear all, I am very new to the oralce world and got stuck today the first time I install oracle 8i on my win2k pro.
After the installation, I was trying to connect the Enterprise Manager Console for the first time, using the default user name sysman and password oem_temp (correct?). The problem is that I don't know exactly what is a management server, and what name it should be called. I named the database/sid name orarem, under D:\Oracle\admin\OraRem, does it have something to do with this issue?
I only installed the oracle enterprise server edition 8.1.6.0.0, not the Client part, will that matter if I only wanna run oracle on my stand alone desktop as a testing procedure for now?
Any help would be really appreciated!!

    Hi,
Please try the following steps to narrow down the issue:
    1. Uninstall and reinstall .NET package in Exchange server.
    2. Under location C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework64\v2.0.50727\CONFIG, took a copy of Machine.Config.default, renam it to Machine.config and copy it under this path again.
    3. Do IIS reset by running iisreset from a Command Prompt window.
    4. Reboot the server and verify whether the Exchange services are started.

  • A bunch of problems after Solaris 10 install...

    Hi everyone,
At first, I'm pretty new in administrating unix systems so forgive me if some questions might sound evident to you.
So there, I installed Solaris 10 on my x86 Pentium 2. After installation, it reboots and then kinda get stuck while booting. After a while sendmail claims it cant qualify it's own domain name.
Then, It asks me to wait for the desktop logon screen before loging in. But than one never shows up. I managed to get a console login prompt, I logged on as root and, using kdmconfig, I set the desktop manager to Xsun. Now when I lounch /bin/X11/X , a solaris splash screen shows up and then nothing more happens... Since I dont know how or if it is possible to quit X at this point, I'm forced to push Reset and to re-wait to get mt console login prompt (and god, this takes time...).
Any ideas about solving those problems? Thanks in advance!

  • Ultra 5 won't boot after Solaris 8 install

Hello. After installing Solaris 8 on an ultra 5, the system won't reboot. After trying many permutations of the install, including a bare minimum and the whole shebang, it became clear that the system always hung at the same spot in the boot process (from a boot -v), immediately following the line:
cpu0: SUNW, UltraSPARC IIi (upaid 0 impl 0x12 ver 0x13 clock 270 MHz)
Has anyone seen this problem before? We reset the boot PROM with set-defaults from the ok prompt and that made no difference. This machine ran fine under Solaris 7, so I don't think it's a hardware failure. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I can't tell from your post if you're using a screen/keyboard or a serial console? Have you removed the keyboard and attached a serial terminal to serial port A? Several types of hardware failure will output errors there even if the failure occurs before the framebuffer is initialized (memory errors are common).

  • No Java Console after Solaris upgrade

    Hi,
after upgrading from Solaris 8 to Solaris 9, the Java Console stopped functioning. It starts and authenticates successfully, but as it reaches the stage "Starting Console...", it stucks there.
Admin server is running, I have checked it by running Console from another host (Solaris 8).
After doing some truss'es, I found that everybody is waiting for "java" (/iplanet/servers/directory52/bin/base/jre/bin/java) to exit, but it doesn't wants to.
I'm running Console bundled with DS 5.2 via ssh X forwarding. The same configuration worked before Solaris upgrade.
If you have some thoughts, share it with me.
    Thanks,
    Kristof

  • Newb Question - Running out of disk space after Solaris 10 install (x86)

After installing Solaris 10 on my x86 environment on a 80GB drive, I noticed I'm practically out of disk space. The space seems to be allocated in \devices\pci@0,0 and \devices\isa. There are several fd@8,0:a like devices in ISA at are a ridicuous number (ie. 8589934592.0GB) Block Device. Can someone give background on what is going on here or what I need to do to fix it?
    Thanks.
    -Vinny_C

Well - in typical newbie fashion - I actually was out of space. Turns out that during the install I did not allocate enough to the \ root install folder as all the space was in my home mount.
    Cheers!

  • Invalid Credentials in SAP Management Console on Solaris

I have been deploying the latest SAP Host Agent  (Version 7.20, patch 63) on our Solaris 5.9 application servers. Days of reviewing and searching through SCN have not produced a resolution. There is a significant restriction in our environment that makes it impossible for the Basis team to get even temporary root access.
    Other details of interest:
    1.     The users <SID>adm are local to each application server (/etc/shadow is in play).
    2.     These SAP notes have been reviewed 927639, 1564645, 992907,1348820 and many others.
To this point my Unix admin friends have not considered allowing any type of read access for <SID>adm to /etc/shadow.
It is more likely  to snow  this week here in Texas than getting root access on these servers.
Here are some of the files of interest for the SAP Host Agent

--> Observations about this default installation of the SAP Host Agent software
    1.     <SID>adm has very limited access to the executables
    2.     Only root can edit host_profile. If the permissions are changed, saphostexec will not run (because the permissions have changed)
    3.     The group ownership of saphostexec is a severe restriction
    4.     Changing ownership of the executables to <SID>adm or sapadm will result in loss of OS information only accessible by root.

Check if the machine name is valid and is reachable over the network and firewall exception for Windows Remote Management service is enabled. 1. Remove the WinrmIIS Extension from "Programs and Features"

    3. Execute the cmd "winrm quickconfig". This adds an exception for the remote management in the Windows firewall.
    4. Install "Winrm IIS extension

  • Exchange Management Console Tools Compatibility

Is there a timeline for getting a compatible version of this software for Windows 8 Enterprise x64.  As an IT Professional, this is really getting in the way of my ability to enjoy your new OS.  I have work to do, and its not enjoyable
bouncing back and forth between OS's to get it done.  Other than this issue there is only minor annoyances, and I can be patient for resolutions.
    Thank you,
    Exmo14

What version of Exchange are you using?  I have the Management Console for Exchange 2010 installed and running happily under Win8 Ent x64.  Installed from the Exchange dvd, patched to the same level as the server (that was a sticking point for
me initially, didn't realise the versions had to match exactly).
Running it via the following batch file, which I found in another thread somewhere.  Your short filenames may vary depending on what else you have installed, it's "Exchange Management Console.msc" you're looking for.
    set __COMPAT_LAYER=RUNASINVOKER
    set COMPLUS_Version=v2.0.50727
    start C:\Progra~1\Microsoft\Exchan~1\V14\Bin\Exchan~1.msc
