Adding switches to stack

Hello,
I've have 2 x 3750G stacks with 3 switches in each and I need to add 2 more 3750Gs to it, can I still get these switches are the X range is out?
Stack 1
WS-C3750G-24T-S
WS-C3750G-48TS-S
WS-C3750G-24T-S
Stack 2
WS-C3750G-24T-S
WS-C3750G-48TS-S
WS-C3750G-24T-S
All are running 12.2(53)SE C3750-IPBASE-M
Also when adding a new switch to the stack does the stack need to be relaoded?
Thanks

You can add the 12-Ss to your stack, however beware these switches support (additional) SDM templates unique to them.  I.e. insure they use a "standard" SDM template.

  • Adding switch into an existing stack

                       Hi all,
I have an existing stack which comprises of 6 switches, please help with the following questions :
1/ adding another switch into this stack will cause all switches in stack to reboot ? anything that I should be aware of such as different versions ?
2/ maximum switches in one stack should be ?
      Thanks for all help.

    Hi Duc,
If you are stacking 3750 switches you can have a max of 9 switches in one stack. The only thing you have to make sure before adding the new switch is that its IOS version should be exactly same as the IOS version of rest of the stack.
You dont have to worry about any reload of existing stack. Connect the stack cables to the new switch, power it up and it will be added to the existing stack.

In one of my locations, I found four switches in stack. When I try to check the IOS for all the switches in stack, except in master, all other are not showing any output for sh flash:

    Hi
You should be able the do a sh flash2 and see the image version
If it's not there, the switch will continue working but will not boot if reseted
You must always have a valid image on every switch in the stack

Yes and No. No because it is not supported out-of-the-box by JHeadstart, yes because you can do this post-generation and then move the custom code to JHeadstart templates.
However, it is not a trivial thing to build, you can try the JDeveloepr forum for any help, we can help you with moving the post-generation code to custom templates, since that is the JHeadstart-related part of your question.

  • CiscoWorks how many switches in stack + dual Power supply usage

    Hi,
Please tell me that is it possible to see in CiscoWorks that device with dual power supplies is using both or just one. e.g 6500
Also I need to count the total number of physical switches in the company but I am only able to generate a inventory report that only shows logical devices, but it do not show if the switch is stack then how many physical switches are in stack.
Is it also possible to count the total number of physical devices in the company instead of just logical devices.
    I am using the
    LMS: 1.2.0
    RME: 4.3.0
    CS:    3.3.0
    CM:   5.2.1
    DFM: 3.2.0
    Thanks.

    Thanks for reply.
In the detailed device view I am able to see that switch has 2 power supply, but but unable to see that its using either only one or both. But I understand your point that if its not visible here then its not possible.
Explainantion of my second query: My company want to know that how many physical switches has been installed. We manage over 2500 logical switches in the company and management want to have a report showing that how many total physical switches exist.
Is it possible to generate a report which shows that each logical switch contains how many physical swithes and/ or total number of physical switches in the company.
e.g MLS001 (logical switch) contains sw1 (physical switch), sw2 (physical switch), sw3 (physical switch), sw4 (physical switch)
MLS002 (logical switch) contains sw1 (physical switch), sw2 (physical switch)
CiscoWorks generate a report shows that 6 physical switches exist.
    Please reply ASAP. Thanks

  • Adding 3750 to stack

    Hello,
I just moved a 3750 switch from a stack where it was #4. I wiped out the config by holding in the mode button, then checked it through the console port.
Then I installed it in another stack as the #3 switch, removing the stack cables while the other 2 switches were powered up and connecting them to the unpowered switch #3.
I then powered up the #3 switch. Everthing seemed to work fine except that the switch shows up as #4 instead of three. Did I miss something here?

If you manually change the stack member number by using the switch current-stack-member-number renumber new-stack-member-number global configuration command, the new number goes into effect after that stack member resets (or after you use the reload slot stack-member-numberprivileged EXEC command) and only if that number is not already assigned to any other members in the stack.

  • Connecting 2 3750 Switches in Stack with 2 2960 switches in full Mesh

    Hi Friends,
I have attached a pics  which DC design of one of our customer , as network engineer i have design this , so i am responsible for implementing it, now request you all to kindly guide me what would be technical problem i have to face in achieving this and how can i over come .Please be in detail. Waiting for your response .
    Regards
    Amit Kulshrestha

I have attached modified diagram , please suggest.
The major issue I see is that you have not mentioned whether the 2960's are stacked? For the design to work, they need to be stacked because you cannot create port-channels between them and the Core switches unless then 2960's are stacked.
==> You are right , surely 2960 Switch need to be in stack form.
Personally I would look at more powerful switches than the 2960's, something along the lines of the 3750x range or probably now the 3850's.
==> This is constrain of customer, not our responsibility.
The second issue I see is that your servers are connected to the WAN switches. Is there a reason for this? Usually they would be connected to the core switches.
==> For this If 1 separate 2960 series switch can be used ?.
The final point is that you only have single connections from each of your WAN connections which begs the question as to the purpose of having two WAN switches?
==> Customer is having 1900 series of router , only two ports one used for WAN and other used for LAN.
The objective of having two switches is to provide redundancy/resiliency. If you have only one connection from each WAN then why do you need two switches as there is no redundancy?
==> Customer has agreed to have manual change at the time of failure.

  • Adding switcher to seeded page

    Hi All
I have one requirement where we need to add a switcher to a seeded Oracle SSHR page. I found the code in OAF developer guide to add the switcher but I need to add this to a seeded page(not the custom page). I can not add the "Switcher" using the personalization to this page.I would like to know the steps without changing the page definition. Is there any way you can substitute the Oracle page. Can any one give me the brief idea on this how can we do that.

ThanksOne of the best approach would be to create a switcher in table region in Jdev.
Now the second step is to create a Stack Layout Region or Flexible Content Layout region under flexible layout region & set its extend property through personalization.

  • How to mornitor VSS (Virtual Switching System) & Stack (Switch) By Cisco Prime Infrastructure

    Dear all,
I have 02 C6504-E with VSS (Virtual Switching System)
       and 02 C3750X-24T-L used Stack
How to you Cisco Prime Infrastructure to monitor VSS & Stack tatus?
    Thanks.

Virtual Switching technology is  the process of combining two standalone distribution switches found in  the local distribution layer into a single management point.
The Virtual  Switching System functions and appears as a single switch to the wiring  closet and the core layer. You can also create Virtual Switching Systems  with a pair of standalone switches available in the core layer.
For configuration please check  the below link:

I also have standalone switch, totally configured. Is there any way I could add this standalone switch with saved config?
Your standalone switch must have NO CONFIG.
Your standalone switch must have the same IOS XE version as the current stack.
Your standalone switch must have the same Feature Set (IP Base, Advanced IP, etc.) as the current stack.

    Hi all,
Have a question regarding the Cisco Prime Infrastructure 2.1  - How to configure the prime to monitor/send an alert when one of the switches (c3750) from a stack goes down (not the master, so the stack appears as 'up' ) ?
In old cisco LMS i was able to configured a script based on a syslog sent from a switch, but I'm not sure how to do it in Prime.
    Thanks for help :]

    Pawel,
Unfortunately PI 2.1 (and 2.2) do not yet allow us to define automated actions in the event of a specific syslog message being received.

  • Adding keywords to stacks

    Hi folks,
Quick question: Is there any way of allocating a keyword to an entire stack, rather than having to expand the stack and shift-select all the images? The stacking system I use maintains all similar images in the same stack, so being able to apply a keyword to all images in a stack just by selecting the top image in a collapsed stack would save time. I've tried in Library grid view and no joy. Any help appreciated.
    Kind regards,
