Adding Updates To Existing Deployment

I have a software updates deployment already configured where the deadline has passed and clients have restarted and successfully installed the updates. If I add some new updates to that existing deployment I have two questions -
1. What will trigger the client to see the new updates? Will this be a machine policy retrieval (every 15 minutes) which will then trigger a software update deployment evaluation scan or will they have to wait until the schedule deployment re-evaluation
which is set to run once every 7 days to get the new updates? Or does the machine policy retrieval check for new updates/deployments on its own?
2. Once the client receives the updates I'd assume they'd see a "Past Due Will Be Installed" notification and the updates would install. Once they install will the user still get the 90 minute notification for restart and the countdown at the end
or will the restart happen sooner since this was an existing deployment whose deadline already passed?

Hi,
1. as the updates are already evaluated by the clients they will install on the next machine policy refresh.
2. As the deadlien is already passed they will install at once. Reboot will depend on your settings for reboot but will be the same as you normally use.

  • Old project with entity 4.0 breaks when adding new model or updating an existing model.

    i have an old 4.0 project that was using entity 4.0
    in VS2013 if I try to update an existing model or add a new one, it will forcefully install the entity framework 5.0 even though the selection in the box was to use 4.0
    it goes out to nuget to do this and then it will forever add 5.0 even if I uninstall it.
    5.0 getting installed completely breaks my application. References to tables disappear and cross reference for NO reason at all with another model.
    How can i get it to just let me use 4.0 so I can move on OR how can i upgrade my old model into 5.0?
    I'd rather not got tthe 5.0 route because that changes a lot of the ways things were done and would break even more code.

    Hello,
    >>in VS2013 if I try to update an existing model or add a new one, it will forcefully install the entity framework 5.0 even though the selection in the box was to use 4.0
    It is not very clear how you install the Entity Framework, as far as I know, the EF version 4.0 is available with .NET 3.5, from .NET 4.0, it will use the 5.0 by default, if you want to use the EF 4.0, you could change the target to .NET 3.5.
    >>How can i get it to just let me use 4.0 so I can move on OR how can i upgrade my old model into 5.0?
    If it is EF 5.0, as far as I know, it uses the DbContext API instead of the original ObjectContext API(the EF 4.0 uses this API) which provides a better performance, if you want to keep to use ObjectContext API, you could follow this article:
    Reverting Back to ObjectContext Code Generation
    The article shows the configuration for VS2012, for VS2013, you could change the Code Generation Strategy from T4 to Legacy ObjectContext.

  • ADR Removes updates from existing Software Update Group

    I'm working on using SCCM for Software Updates, was previously only using WSUS. I think I've got everything configured and I can deploy updates successfully. So now I'm working on automating things with some ADRs. The problem I'm running into is that I'm
    trying to set the ADR to add updates to an existing group. Office 2007 updates in this example.  I have the search criteria in the ADR set to look for Office 2007 updates released in the last 30 days and it is set to run once a month.
    So in my mind, each month it will run and add the necessary updates to the existing group, and the group will become a cumulative list.  The problem I'm having is that every time the rule runs, it seems to remove all the existing updates from that
    group and only add in the updates that were returned for that run.  For example, I can set the rule to search for updates released in the last 60 days and will see 15 updates in the group.  If I change the rule to search for updates released in the
    last 30 days and run it again, the group will only have 10 updates in it.  Or if I manually add updates to the group and then run the rule again, the updates I manually added are removed.  None of these are expired or superseded.  Any ideas?

    The spirit of the statement is more or less correct, but as it applies to this scenario it is not. To the clients, nothing has changed. The update is part of the update group before and after. Thus, the client only knows about the newly added updates thus
    there really is no client side processing churn except for the newly added updates. As for the SQL processing, that's what SQL does well -- that's the whole point of using a enterprise class RDBMS. Tip-toeing around SQL, particularly for a process that only
    happens once a month, is (sorry) silly. Now, if you were to do this everyday, then yes, that's bad. Once a month, it's trivial. Do of course make sure you have a good SQL maintenance plan in place that includes re-indexing and rebuilding statistics (not the
    built-in maintenance task).

  • Outlook-Updates to EXISTING Calendar and Contact entries not syncing correctly - two PC's

    My setup is two PC's (one at work, one at home), one BB. Both PC's Outlook are Outlook 2003, SP3. I do not use BES. I sync my BB to both PCs.
    I have experiencing specific issues where updates to existing Outlook Calendar (mtg notes) and Contact (contact notes) are not being sync'd from one PC to the next PC (via my BB device - Sprint Curve 8330 running OS v4.5.0.131). I sync PC's to my BB using BB Desktop Mgr (v4.7) and USB cable.
    Here are specific details of what I am doing to duplicate the issues.
    1) Calendar:
    I have been away from work the past two days. In that time, I have updated two (2) calendar items at my PC at home - both items are at my work PC as well.
    Item one: I moved the date from Wed to Thurs, and added a note - done from home PC
    Item two: I changed the description of the meeting, and shortened appt from 3 hrs to two hrs - done from home PC
    Both items sync OK with my BB
    Upon coming to work this morning, neither sync'd to my work PC. I finally did the following:
    Item one: I deleted from Desktop Outlook, opened in BB put a space in the meeting description saved.
    Item two: Opened on BB, put a space in the meeting description saved.
    Upon resyncing, here is what happened
    Item one: Sync Mgr noticed conflict of deleting from PC and changed in BB. I chose to copy item to PC. This results in syncing correctly to PC
    Item two: Sync'd to PC correctly.
    Something is NOT right. The sync process did NOT recognize these two items that changed until I manually intervened (updating on the BB).
    2) Contact:
    I ran a test today where on my work PC, I added a comment into one contact's note. I successfully sync'd that contact note to my BB. However, when I sync the BB with my home PC, that note did NOT make it to the home PC.
    I opened the contact (in edit mode) on my BB, inserted a space to the contact's name, erased the space, and saved the contact.
    I then sync'd the BB to the home PC again. This time, success - the contact's note got sync'd to the home PC.
    HELP
    I have seen this sort of thing a few times before (where sync did not sync a Calendar event/mtg correctly) in the past three months or so I owned my BB - but this is the first time I decided to actually test out the fix. This is the first time I noticed with a contact (maybe b/c i do not look at my Contacts updates as closely as I do my Calendar mtgs updates)

    Thanks for your feedback:
    2 things..... I somehow had created a duplicate calendar which may have been >blocking the sync. If you have it as well, delete this calendar and try to sync.
    I have several calendars in Outlook - there is the main one which contains everything, then where I have marked certain entries as 'Personal' or as 'Anniversaries' etc a separate calendar is created with those entries in them.
    Also, I read somewhere that some calendar entries will corrupt the sync of the > phone. Delete all new entries since the last successful sync and enter a test >entry and try to sync the phone. To the best of my knowledge, there is no >indication that an appointment is "bad" other than the phone will stop syncing. >So perhaps after each sync, check the phone to ensure any new entries appear.
    I can't possibly tell when the last successful synch occurred! I also don't want to delete entries - I need them all!
    There appears to be very little advice on this problem, hopefully this will >work.
    Yes, it seems that the Great God Apple isn't anywhere as smart as it thinks it is. I am really frustrated and not a little angry. This is basic stuff for any other phone, let alone a Smart Phone!
    Thanks for your comments, though.

  • Adding QM to Existing UCCX Premium w CR

    Trying to understand the licensing behind adding QM to an existing deployment of CR.
    UCCX v 9.x
    Ordering guide is not very clear on part #, if any

    Hello-
    Do I understand that you currently have a deployment of WFO with Compliance Recording licenses and you want to add Quality Management licenses as well, correct?
    You should be able to mix the license types and then just assign the desired license to an end user.
    9.x QM seat: L-CCX-90-A-QM-LIC
    I hope that helps.

  • Introducing Software Updates into Existing Network

    I'm having some trouble getting my head wrapped around how software updates work with the SCCM 2012 environment.  My university is rolling out SCCM 2012 R2 into an existing environment where there is currently no control over software updates.  All
    of our machines are currently retrieving their updates directly from Microsoft using Windows 7's built-in Windows Update service.  We are beginning to push out the ConfigMgr client to all of the workstations on the domain.  My question is how should
    I handle software updates for these machines going forward.  Some of these machines may be disconnected for periods of time from the network while others are connected all of the time.  Should I just download all past updates for Windows 7, Office
    2010, etc. and deploy all of these updates to the existing machines.  All new machines won't be a problem as they are being imaged and deployed using SCCM, so I'll know that they're up-to-date.  My thought was just to create software groups containing
    these past updates and deploy them to all workstations.  Then I will have an ADR setup to handle all future Patch Tuesday updates.  Is this the best way to handle this scenario?

    Okay, I understand what you guys are saying and I've setup something similar.  I downloaded all past updates for all Microsoft products we have in use.  I broke these up by year so as to avoid any deployment package limits, so I placed these updates
    in software groups named "All 2010 Updates", "All 2011 Updates", etc. with corresponding deployment packages.  I'm not separating anything by product as I'm just letting the ConfigMgr client handle what a client needs.  I then deployed these groups
    to all of my workstations, and will leave them deployed to the collection for the foreseeable future or until everything gets caught up.  Does this sound okay?
    Now here's another question.  I noticed for this month's patch Tuesday that there were quite a few revised updates that were originally released in 2011.  My ADR grabbed all updates released or revised in the past 1 month.  These updates now
    exist in both my "2014 08 August" and "All 2011 Updates" software update groups (as well as my "2011" and "2014-2" deployment packages).  So basically it appears I now have duplicate updates.  I thought if an update was revised they would expire
    the original update.  Is this not always the case?
    I appreciate the responses guys.

  • Re-download a Software Update to a Deployment Package

    Hi,
    Is there a way to force SCCM to re-download a Software Update into a Deployment Package?
    When you download a Software Update (right-click the update and click download), the wizard asks which Deployment Package to add it to (an existing package or create a new one).  The update is then downloaded to the UNC path specified in the package
    with each update under a different directory (named as a GUID).
    My issue is that many of these GUID directories have been accidentally deleted from the UNC path.  I know how it happened and that isn't the issue here - I simply want to download the updates again.  I would like to right-click my Software Update
    group, select "Download", point it to the existing package and have all the updates download again.
    When I try and do this, the wizard works fine and it processes each update and says "Success" - however, they are not actually re-downloaded!  It's like there is a link somewhere between the update and the package such that it knows it should
    already be there and therefore it skips over it without actually checking whether it really does exist.
    Is there a way to force SCCM 2012 to ignore the fact that it thinks the update is already there and re-download it?  What I really want to do is change the "Downloaded" field from "Yes" to "No" which I think would achieve
    what I want to do - I just can't find a way to do it.
    What am I missing?
    Cheers,
    David

    I had this same basic problem on a new SCCM 2012 R2 suite I built. I made all the Software Update Groups and Packages and deployed them. They all worked except for the one for Office 2010. Errors said could not process that package, couldn't find a
    folder within the source location for the package, and on the DPs the Office 2010 package was there but had 0 for the size of the package.
    I deleted the Office 2010 source update folder and package. Then you go to the updates in question, r-click and select deploy (it'll let you do that even if it thinks it's already deployed), create the new package, let the download run, r-click, and edit
    membership as needed, and deploy. This worked for me.

    Report CWERReporter finishing event handling. (00000000)

    Hi friend,
    I like to answer on postings like yours, its a good exercise for my work and its really cool to have some topics where all people here will contribute.
    JohnnyS is a friend of mine which is working with me at our office and we talked a little bit about your problem.
    So his opinion was to use the UBCD4Win and work with that option.
    The advice of him was:
    Grab a USB-HDD case and put one drive in it and boot with UBCD4Win. Then copy all important data to a folder on the external HDD and remove the uneeded data on it. Just the important data!
    Make a backup of your data on the external drive from both HDDs. I hope you will have enough free space.
    Format the drive in your machine and recover it. Install the system as usually on your first HDD.
    Then put the data to where you want.
    So I am not sure if I understanded your question right, a little bit more explanation would be useful. I think that will be a long thread. ;)

  • BusinessPartners: Adding/Updating

    Good Day
    Experts:
    I am in need of some assistance today working with the oBusinessPartners object.  Are thers any code examples of how to handle adding and updating Business Partners?  I tried searching through the help and could not find anything.  Of concern is the managing of the BillTo and ShipTo records as well.
    Thanks,
    Ed

    Hi Ed,
    How to add a BP:
    // Create an instance of the BP object
    SAPbobsCOM.BusinessPartners sboBP = (SAPbobsCOM.BusinessPartners)_sboCompany.GetBusinessObject(SAPbobsCOM.BoObjectTypes.oBusinessPartners);
    // Set the basic properties
    sboBP.CardCode = "S00001";
    sboBP.CardName = "New Supplier 1";
    sboBP.CardType = SAPbobsCOM.BoCardTypes.cSupplier;
    // Set optional properties
    sboBP.CreditLimit = 100000;
    sboBP.Currency = "USD";
    // Add the BP
    int iRetVal = sboBP.Add();
    if(iRetVal != 0)
        // Add failed so report error to user
        _sboApp.SetStatusBarMessage("Error creating BP: " + _sboCompany.GetLastErrorDescription(), SAPbouiCOM.BoMessageTime.bmt_Medium, true);
    How to add an address to an existing BP:
    // Create an instance of the BP object
    SAPbobsCOM.BusinessPartners sboBP = (SAPbobsCOM.BusinessPartners)_sboCompany.GetBusinessObject(SAPbobsCOM.BoObjectTypes.oBusinessPartners);
    // Use the GetByKey method to retrieve the existing BP
    if (sboBP.GetByKey("S00001"))
        SAPbobsCOM.BPAddresses sboAddresses = (SAPbobsCOM.BPAddresses)sboBP.Addresses;
        // Check to see if addresses already exist
        if (sboAddresses.Count > 1)
            sboAddresses.Add();
        else
            // First address always exists, but may be blank
            sboAddresses.SetCurrentLine(0);
            if (sboAddresses.AddressName != "") sboAddresses.Add();
        sboAddresses.SetCurrentLine(sboAddresses.Count - 1);
        // Set the properties for the new address
        sboAddresses.AddressName = "Billing2";
        sboAddresses.AddressType = SAPbobsCOM.BoAddressType.bo_BillTo;
        sboAddresses.Street = "789 Virtual Street";
        sboAddresses.ZipCode = "1234";
        // Update the BP
        int iRetVal = sboBP.Update();
        if (iRetVal != 0)
            // Update failed so report error to user
            _sboApp.SetStatusBarMessage("Error updating BP: " + _sboCompany.GetLastErrorDescription(), SAPbouiCOM.BoMessageTime.bmt_Medium, true);
    else
        // BP wasn't found so report error
        _sboApp.SetStatusBarMessage("Unable to find S00001 in the database", SAPbouiCOM.BoMessageTime.bmt_Medium, true);
    How to update an existing address on a BP:
    // Create an instance of the BP object
    SAPbobsCOM.BusinessPartners sboBP = (SAPbobsCOM.BusinessPartners)_sboCompany.GetBusinessObject(SAPbobsCOM.BoObjectTypes.oBusinessPartners);
    // Use the GetByKey method to retrieve the existing BP
    if (sboBP.GetByKey("S00001"))
        SAPbobsCOM.BPAddresses sboAddresses = (SAPbobsCOM.BPAddresses)sboBP.Addresses;
        // Loop through the addresses to get to the correct address
        for (int i = 0; i <= sboAddresses.Count - 1; i++)
            sboAddresses.SetCurrentLine(i);
            if (sboAddresses.AddressName == "Billing" && sboAddresses.AddressType == SAPbobsCOM.BoAddressType.bo_BillTo)
                // This is the address I want to update so change the properties
                sboAddresses.Street = "765 Virtual Road";
                break;
        // Update the BP
        int iRetVal = sboBP.Update();

    When I login to update my existing apps, the login window shows the wrong apple id. i cannot change it because it is all grayed out. how do i solve this problem?

    Content and Apple IDs -
    Content is forever tied to the Apple ID that bought it. Apple does not transfer content from one Apple ID to another. Apple does not merge Apple IDs. You will never be able to access your content bought with one Apple ID with a new Apple ID.

    A ListItem has its own unique row id so in all likelihood, an insert with the same data will result in a new list entry. The Lists Web Service however, has an UpdateListItem method which will take an update request. [refer
