Adding Users programatically using API with iFS

Two questions really
1)I was wondering if anyone on the forum could offer me some basic skeleton code on extending the ExtendedUserProfile class in order to add a single new attribute and then read it back. I'm new to Oracle related products and I need a little bit of a kick-start in the right direction.
2)I had a look at Mark Drake's Solution to programatically adding a user through the API and tried it out, sadly I get either IFS-10600, IFS-10633 and IFS-10620 or I get IFS-20010: Failed to get PropertiesResourceBundler exception.
Judging by the developers guide there is an error in my version of the code or there is a misconfiguration in the properties file. Maybe even it's not listed in a path or classpath somewhere.
Which properties file is it likely to be in?
What should the properties look like?
Can anyone guide me as to where the clsspath should be set to?
Thanks in advance for any assistance.

I'm working on an example that includes subclassing the ExtendedUserProfile that will be included in my content management sample, scheduled to be published at the end of the month. I've sent you a draft of the topic that will hopefully point you in the right direction.

    Hi Bala,
    Try using these function modules
    SUSR_BAPI_USER_CREATE

    BAPI_USER_CREATE1
    BAPI_USER_INTERNET_CREATE ( This internally calls BAPI_USER_CREATE1)

  • Adding users to group www with NetInfo doesn't seem to work

    I've added several users to the www group using NetInfo. As you can see, it seems to have worked:
    whisper:~ mark$ sudo niutil -read . /groups/www
    users: www,mark,rbgramacy
    realname: HTTP Users
    name: www
    generateduid: ABCDEFAB-CDEF-ABCD-EFAB-CDEF00000046
    smb_sid: S-1-5-21-170
    passwd: *
    gid: 70
    However, when I look at what groups I belong to, www is not one of them:
    computer:~ mark$ id
    uid=501(mark) gid=501(mark) groups=501(mark), 81(appserveradm), 79(appserverusr), 80(admin)
    Any ideas as to how I might get the addition of the group to actually kick in? The system won't let either user assigned the www group edit files with group www.

    I wouldn't edit the www group if I were you. That group is used internally by OS X and meddling with it could have unintended consequenses.
    I recommend creating your own custom group and adding the users you want to it. Netinfo Manager is not the easiest tool to use for this. Instead, download the Server Admin Tools from Apple and use Workgroup Manager. It makes creating custom groups a snap.

  • Office 365 Basic end user authentication using API without using powershell

    I have an Office 365 username and password. I need to authenticate the credentials without using powershell. I mean by using REST API. I was able to authenticate the admin user using client id and secret along with their username and password.
    All I need is to authenticate an end user using his username and password using graph api or any REST api.

    So you probably need to ask in the dedicated O365 forum:
    http://community.office365.com/en-us/f/default.aspx
    Or maybe an Azure AD forum ?

  • Update should happen with user id using advancing with immediate dialog ??

    Hi Experts,
    I am trying to use the advancing with immediate dialog:  My workflow is using HCM forms: The approver approves the form and  I want the next step to execute immediately. I made the recipient the same as the actual agent of the work item which just completed. The new step goes into a ready state in that agent's  inbox,  I signed on as the user to execute and it works fine.
    What other steps are required to make the task execute immediately without going to the user inbox?  The task calls a BOR object which has synchronous object method and object method with dialog checked. The task has advance with dialog checked.
    Regards,
    Lolanda

    Hi Viji,
    Yes,  I want the actual user name from the previous task which approved the item to display on the infotype  8 record as changed by. I thought I would be able to have it executed automatically by setting the step condition to  create work item and complete work item condition. I have not been successful in the background. It completes the task but I am not sure it is calling the routine. Is there a way to debug the task. It is  passing all breakpoints.
    regards,
    Lolanda

  • Using APIs with Edge (JQuery and JSON)

    Hi I am very new to APIs but I have a pretty basic understanding and I want to figure out how I could use them in Edge. I following the following tutorial and have tried to modify it for my liking: http://www.gotoandlearn.com/play.php?id=168
    Essentially, I am trying to pull in the most recent Flickr phots on Flickr.com. Check out my files in the Zip below and the URL I have been testing on:
    http://dl.dropbox.com/u/9159616/flickr-test.zip
    http://createmate.co/flickr-test/
    Thanks for your help!
    Ada,

    Hi Adam,
    So, i downloaded your project files and i tested with another flickr address.
    My test comes from: http://api.jquery.com/jQuery.getJSON/
    Using your "slide" symbol, the code tested was:
    $.getJSON("http://api.flickr.com/services/feeds/photos_public.gne?jsoncallback=?",
                 tags: "mount rainier",
                 tagmode: "any",
                 format: "json"
               function(data) {
                 $.each(data.items, function(i,item){
                                var s = sym.createChildSymbol("slide", "Stage");
                                 s.$("photo").css({"background-image": "url('"+item.media.m+"')"});
                                 s.$("title").html(item.title);
                   if ( i == 10 ) return false;
    Your slide symbol works fine.
    Therefore, your flickr address is not correct.
    If you copy and paste your flickr address within your address bar (Safari), Flickr returns: jsonFlickrApi({"stat":"fail", "code":98, "message":"Invalid auth token"})
    You can look at this tutorial: http://net.tutsplus.com/tutorials/javascript-ajax/the-ultimate-guide-to-decoding-the-flick r-api/

  • Using BFILEs with IFS (backup of large IFS DB)

    Greetings:
    I am investigating IFS for a customer. The customer is concerned about backing up what could become a very large Oracle database if versioned documents are stored in the DB.
    Is it possible to have IFS store it's documents in BFILEs (OS data files)? My customer thinks this would be easier to backup. My initial run through the documentation leads me think it is not possible, at least, with an out of the box implementation.
    I see a glimmer of hope by extending the document classes and specifying BFILEs somehow. Has anyone done this?
    TIA

  • Using KM APIs with Anonymous user

    Dear SDNites,
    I have gone thorough one of the SAP notes on possible CM scenarios with anonymous users. It says the the supported scenarios are Search, browse and download.
    My question is that can we use KM apis in these areas with anonymous users?  I got some documentation on KM Indexmanagement APIs for searching with TREX, which requires authenticated user. I am wondering is there any way to use those APIs with anonymous user access.
    Thanks a lot in advance.
    Regards
    Pavan

    Hi Pavan,
    if you access the KM via Web Service you'll find parameters in each service to send username and password.
    If you browse the KM reposiroties via http you may need to do an authentication first. If your portal accepts basic authentication (as it does by default) you may call the KM explorer iView with some URL like:
    http://<username>:<password>@<hostname>.<domain>:<port>/<path to KM iView>
    If this does not work, maybe you need to use a client that supports basic authentication (digest). This may be e.g. the OpenSourcer library [HttpClient|http://hc.apache.org/] from the Apache project.
    See [RFC2617|http://www.faqs.org/rfcs/rfc2617.html] for more details on Basic Authentication and Basic Authentication (digest).
    If you have some more questions, please come back.

  • Adding User to Group Programatically?

    I've used the APIs below to create portal users and apply a
    group number to them when they are inserted into the Portal User
    table. However, when the users log into the portal, they still
    are not attached to any group (i.e. Portal objects that can only
    be viewed by certain group members, cannot be seen by the
    programatically added users unless it is done manually in
    Portal). Does anyone have an idea as to how to get this to work?
    Thank You in advance,
    Justin
    Code to add users:
    PORTAL30_SSO.WWSSO_API_USER_ADMIN.CREATE_USER(v_username,
    v_password, v_admin_email, null, null, false, l_error_return);
    PORTAL30.WWCTX_API_PRIVATE.SET_CONTEXT('PORTAL30','');
    portal30.create_portal_user(v_username);
    portal30.wwsec_api.set_defaultgroup(10, v_username);

    I answered my own question. This seems to be the best procedure
    form programatically adding users and applying them to existing
    groups:
    PORTAL30_SSO.WWSSO_API_USER_ADMIN.CREATE_USER(v_username,
    v_password, v_email, null, null, false, l_error_return);
    PORTAL30.WWCTX_API_PRIVATE.SET_CONTEXT('PORTAL30','');
    portal30.create_portal_user(v_username);
    portal30.wwsec_api.set_defaultgroup(9, v_username);
    portal30.wwsec_api.add_user_to_list(portal30.wwsec_api.id
    (v_username), 9, portal30.wwsec_api.NOT_OWNER);

    I have a Mac Pro using Lion, with SSD for system drive.  Drive stopped booting, but otherwise appeared healthy.  Restored from system backup.  Now drive seems to work properly, BUT my logon password no longer works.  Password OK for account; can access system preferences, and change user password there BUT logon still refuses to accept password.  No luck changing password for that account after adding new administrator account and logging on from that account.  Suggestions?  Thanks.

    If you redirect Accounts to another location (not on the Boot Drive) you need to direct them back there again after a restore.
    SystemPreferences > Accounts/User&Groups > ...
    ... Unlock the lock, then hold down Control as you click on an Account to get access to the Advanced Options pane.

  • Guided Procedure: Dynamical User Assignment at Runtime with WD API

    Hallo out there,
    I'm trying to assign a user to a process role.
    I set up my process in that way:
    Process as root,
    sequential block,
    First action with callable Object,
    Second action with callable Object,
    It looks quite easy.
    The callable Objects are embedded WD4J UI's and the data transfer GP Context, etc works fine
    I'm still starting the process with the GP Designtime center, not via Webdynpro method (startProcess).
    The following codesd snippets are placed in the execute method of the first callable object.
    I guess a have to use the runtime methods.. not the designtime methods to assign the users
    For example:
    In Step 1 - execute Method:
    discovering the user for processing step2!
    assigning the to the processrole depending for step2!
    My Coding in step 1 looks like this:
    First step: Getting the user infos:
    //  Retrieve an IUser instance by a logon ID specified dynamically at runtime.
              IUser userStep1;
              IUser userStep2;
                  userStep1 = UMFactory.getUserFactory().getUserByLogonID("user1");
                  userStep2 = UMFactory.getUserFactory().getUserByLogonID("user2");
                  IGPUserContext userContext;
                  IGPUserContext userContext2;
                     userContext = GPContextFactory.getContextManager().createUserContext(userStep1);
                  userContext = GPContextFactory.getContextManager().createUserContext(userStep2);
                  IGPRuntimeManager rtm = GPProcessFactory.getRuntimeManager();
    Now, i want to assign user2 to step2 :
       IGPProcess process =  GPProcessFactory.getDesigntimeManager().getActiveTemplate(
                          // by specifying its ID
                          processId,
                          // and the user accessing it
                          userContext);
                 // create an empty role assignment list
                 IGPProcessRoleInstanceList roles = rtm.createProcessRoleInstanceList();
                 // get the process role number
                 int rolenum = process.getRoleInfoCount();
                 // iterate over the required roles
                 for (int i = 0; i < rolenum; i++) {
               msgmr.reportSuccess("Anzahl der gefunden Prozessrollen: " + rolenum);
                    // create a new role instance by specifying the role's unique name
                    IGPProcessRoleInstance roleInstance = roles. createProcessRoleInstance(process.getRoleInfo(i).getRoleName());
       // add a user to the role instance
                    roleInstance.addUser(userStep2);
                    // add the new role to the assignment list
                    roles.addProcessRoleInstance(roleInstance);
    I guess the problem is, that i call the wrong method to assign the user. I need to assign the user with following code snippet...
    // dynamically assign a user to a role
    rtm.addRuntimeDefinedUserToRole(
                      // process instance
                      prInstance,
                      // role name
                      "Processor",
                      // user that is assigned (IUser)
                      user,
                      // user context (IGPUserContext)
                      userContext);
    // dynamically change the user assigned to a role for a particular task
    String prInstanceID = prInstance.getID();
    rtm.changeTaskProcessor(
                      // process instance ID
                      prInstanceID,
                      // activity instance ID
                      activityInstanceID,
                      // current user (IGPUserContext)
                      currentProcessorContext,
                      // new user (IGPUserContext)
                      newProcessorContext);
    Thank you for any hint.

    Hi,

  • How to use the user and role API's and where to use it

    Hi All,
    I have configured SSO for my UCM11g. Now my application authenticates through the Oracle SSO login page. Currently it is working with SQL authenticator.
    Now, i have to use LDAP authenticator. when i will configure the LDAP authenticator, i have to use the user and role API's to fetch the user profile information from LDAP. i have got the API's which will be used to fetch the respected information, but i am not getting as where i will write those java programs and how this API will be used in my application. what settings i need to do on it so that application uses the API's. ?
    Please can anyone help me on this.
    thanks,
    Saurabh

    Hi, Mithu,
    Thanks a lot for your help in advance.
    I have carefully read the document: https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/6b66d7ea-0c01-0010-14af-b3ee523210b5.
    Now, I think I have to set the processor of every actions in every process if I use the GP for processing the workflow.
    I am better to hope that I can set the processor to the role for every actions in every process in the runtime through get the organizational structure in the WDA(webdynpro for java or webdynpro for java). Thus, the customer don't set the processor to the role for every action in every process when runing in the GP.   I don't know how to do this.
    Whether the function is not supported in the GP? If so, I have to config two organizational structure: in the R/3 and in the Portal. I don't think our customer don't receipt this solution.
    Do you give me some hints? Thanks a lot.  My email: [email protected]
    Thanks again.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Tao
