Adding variables to Views

Hi:
I'm trying to add three new attributes to my view which
will be variables and calculated so I wish to use sql derived variables however
when I create them they appear to be saved as transient variables ?????
Is there an option somewhere for me to choose sql derived?

To make a transient View-attribute SQLDerived, set the "Selected in Query" checkbox on and enter a valid Query Column: Expression.

  • Mapping Variables(Object View) to Measures(Model View)

    Hi,
    In my AW, I have created a cube, And then I have created a new variable in the object view and populated it using load programs. Now. when I try to create a measure in the model view of the same cube based on this variable, I cannot see any option for assigning a variable to a measure. Can someone please help me out in doing this?
    I need the measure in the model view, because it looks like, when I create a relational view, only the measures that are defined in the model are added to the view and not the variables available in the object model.
    Thanks,
    Bharat

    Hi Bharat,
    The mapping editor is used to map a measure to a relational data source. Therefore, unless you convert your data source used by your DML program to a relational table/view (if it is a text file you can use an external table to present the data to AWM as a relational table, or if it is an Excel spreadsheet and your database is on Windows you can use the heterogenous gateway service to load directly from Excel by exposing the Excel worksheet as a relational table) you will not be able to use the mapping editor.
    To assign an OLAP variable to an measure within a cube you will need to create a custom calculated measure. This will allow you to create a measure that "maps" to your OLAP DML program. There is an Excel utility on the OLAP OTN home page that allows you to create custom calculated measures (at the moment this feature is not AWM10gR2 - but is available within AWM 11g). Click here for more information:
    http://download.oracle.com/otn/java/olap/SpreadsheetCalcs_10203.zip
    My advice would be to try and convert your data source to a relational table/view and using the mapping editor. This will allow you to benefit from the many new features within OLAP cube storage such as compressed composites, data compression, paralled processing, partitioning and aggregation maps. Of course you can code all this manually but it is much easier to let AWM do all this for you via a few mouse clicks. Please note - that everything you build outside of the AWM model view has to be managed (defined, updated, backed up etc) by you rather AWM. So while there are lots of advantages of using OLAP DML, I personally always try to load data into my OLAP cubes using AWM mappings and save OLAP DML for providing the advanced types of analysis that make OLAP such an excellent calculation engine.
    Hope this helps

  • Adding tabs to View based application in mobile project

    Hi,
    I wanted to if tabs can be added to a view based (ViewNavigatorApplication) ? I need tabs few of my views also tabs will be different in different views.
    If using TabbedNavigatorApplication is the only option how do I create a first view without tabs and different tabs in different section of the application.

    on what page of the app (P-Track, right?)... I assume you desire to see them listed in the project details, page 200? If so, the source for the query for that region has a where clause hard-coded for m.milestone_status='Open' ... removing it would get what you want there (they will still be color coded). I've modified this application extensively such that I have an actual control on the region(s) to allow the user to choose "open/all" (for milestones and actions)
    Otherwise, you can adjust the search filter 'status' option on page 35 to 'all' (the default is 'open') and click go.. (and/or add a new list option in that control for 'closed'..)
    does that help?

    Hi,
    I have faced similar problem some time ago. I could not find any solution except removing bind parameters in where clause. I tried to change binding style but it also didn't work. I think the problem is caused by view link's where clause.

  • Bind variables in views

    I am having some performance issues using bind variables in views (Oracle 7.3.4). When I execute the view using '' values the view executes the expected execution plan. When I execute the view using bind variables the execution plan changes to something undesireable. I believe this to be a static execution plan in the case of using bind variables. I have updated all tables referenced by the view and compiled the view; but, the execution plan when using the bind variables does not change. Can you give me some advice on finding out why the execution plan in the case of using bind variables does not change based on the new set of statistics and being re-compiled.

    even if you use a literal isn't that automatically
    changed into a bind variable during at compile time?That would be the case when your have CURSOR_SHARING = FORCE. The default should be EXACT.
    SQL> show parameter cursor_sharing
    NAME                                 TYPE        VALUE
    cursor_sharing                       string      EXACT
    SQL>Actually, since you have the constants in the view, and if everyone uses the view, they share the same shared cursor (since the constants are never changing across each use).
    If you supplement the view with additional WHERE conditions (when using the view):
    SELECT <columns> FROM your_view WHERE <additional_conditions> ;
    Ten you might want to look into using bind variables for values used in such additional conditions.

  • Sql Queries - adding calculated variables to views

    It probably isn't working because of missing 'group by' clause. I don't know the exact detail of your query statement, but suppose you want to count number of employees in a dept, then you're query should look like:
    select dept.deptno, dept.dname, count(emp.empno) as nCount
       from dept, emp where dept.deptno = emp.deptno(+)
       group by dept.deptno, dept.dname  // This group-by is important
    OR if you want to use nested SELECT
    select dept.deptno, dept.dname,
       (select count(emp.empno) from emp where dept.deptno=emp.deptno(+)) as nCount
       from dept

  • Bind variable for view accessor

    I am using a Gantt chart where I need to pass in a date field for the schedule as a bind variable.
    Since this is a Gantt chart, there is no iterator binding for the child VO (the tasks) in my page definition.
        <gantt IterBinding="ParentVO1Iterator" id="ParentsVO1" xmlns="http://xmlns.oracle.com/adfm/dvt">
          <ganttDataMap>
            <nodeDefinition DefName="com.pat.model.view.ParentsVO" type="Resources">
              <AttrNames>
                <Item Value="ParentId" type="resourceId"/>
              </AttrNames>
              <Accessors>
                <Item Value="MainGantt" type="tasks"/>
              </Accessors>
            </nodeDefinition>
            <nodeDefinition type="Tasks" DefName="com.pat.model.view.MainGantt">
              <AttrNames>
                <Item Value="PatId" type="taskId"/>
                <Item Value="StartTimeDate" type="startTime"/>
                <Item Value="EndTimeDate" type="endTime"/>
                <Item Value="Patname" type="label"/>
              </AttrNames>
            </nodeDefinition>
    I have tried retrieving the accessor through the parent VO, and setting the bind variable.
    But I get an error if I fire executeQuery() on the child VO that says that the bind variable for the view link is missing.
            DCIteratorBinding iter = dcBindings.findIteratorBinding("ParentVO1Iterator"); // get parent iterator binding
            ViewObject vo = iter.getViewObject();
            MainGanttImpl childVO = (MainGanttImpl)vo.findAttributeDef("MainGantt").getAccessorVO(vo); //get the child VO through the accessor link
            childVO.setpViewDate(new Timestamp(((Date)getGanttDate().getValue()).getTime())); // get the date entered by the user and set to the child VO
            childVO.executeQuery(); //execute the child VO
    Exposing the child VO impl through the Application module and setting the bind variable to that instance alone has no impact on the Gantt data returned.

    We researched a bit more and hit upon the solution here.
    Decompiling ADF Binaries: Search by child attributes on a tree table
    I added the same bind variable to my parent VO (and added some SQL 'and : pViewDate = : pViewDate' to the query to just get it to work )
    In the parent VO Impl class, I overrode the createViewLinkAccessorRS method:
       protected ViewRowSetImpl createViewLinkAccessorRS(AssociationDefImpl assocDef,
                                                          ViewObjectImpl accessorVO,
                                                          Row masterRow,
                                                          Object[] values) {
                ViewRowSetImpl v =
                super.createViewLinkAccessorRS(assocDef, accessorVO, masterRow,
                                               values);
          //  Timestamp viewDate = (Timestamp )accessorVO.getNamedWhereClauseParam("pViewDate");
            v.setNamedWhereClauseParam("pViewDate", getpViewDate());
            return v;
      public Timestamp getpViewDate() {
            return (Timestamp) getNamedWhereClauseParam("pViewDate");
    This sets the child VO with the value of the bind variable that I have set to my parent VO. This got the Gantt working!

  • Null check for a bind variable in view criteria

    Hi, Greetings.
    I am using Jdeveloper 11.1.2.0.
    I have a view object, LocationsView, for locations table of the XE database.
    I want to apply a condition, ((:bind_var is null) or (:bind_var is not null and location_id = :bind_var), in this LocationsView.
    That is, I want to apply the condition only if the bind variable value is not null.
    How can I construct this condition using a declarative view criteria?
    Any help and hints on this regard is greatly appreciated.
    Regards,
    Guru K

    Hi,
    Thanks for the update and it is working perfectly fine.
    Now, how can I set the "ignore null values" option as checked if I am constructing the criteria programmatically using view criteria row and view criteria item at runtime.
    Thanks and regards,

  • BP Fact Sheet adding Multiple BI views using SAP configuration tool

    Hi,
    I am able to add multiple BI reports to the Fact Sheet using SAP standard Configuration. But all the views appear with the Same Heading "BI Report". Is there a way I can change the title "BI Report"  to something more specific to the Report context using SAP Standard Configuration or a BADI.
    E.g. Sales Data Report / Volume Analysis
    instead of BI Report / BI Report
    I am able to do so by creating my own BI inbound plugs for the interface definition in the component BP_FACTSHEET but I do not want to use that approach if their is a SAP standard way of doing it.
    Any advice will be greatly appreciated.
    Sumeet

    Hi Sumeet,
                     If you want to change the title of the view then you have to go particular component and view .Then redefine  this method IF_BSP_WD_HISTORY_STATE_DESCR~GET_STATE_DESCRIPTION  and give ur title in description variable.Or you can go to this component BSP_DLC_FS and change the title when you assign the view in particular tiles.
    Thanks

  • When I sort by date added in Column View in Finder, how can I make the most recent files appear at the top of the list?(Mavericks)

    In 10.8, when I sorted Finder by date added or date created in column view, the most recent files would appear at the top of the list. Currently, this happens as it should in every single view mode EXCEPT column view (which is pretty much the only view I ever use). Currently, I have a folder with over 2000 files in it that date back to 2011, so now I have to scroll for like ten minutes just te get to files that were most recently added. Who in their right mind would want to sort by last modified with the oldest result listed FIRST? Ridiculous. I can't figure this out. Any help?

    Thanks for the reply leroydouglas! Unfurtunately this doesn't cause the column to be ordered correctly either. After selecting this option, the files seem to be ordered by label, and the most recently added file is somewhere in the middle of the list. I'd like it to be at the top, and have other files/folders descend in retrochronological order by their add date.
    Any other input from the community would be greatly appreciated, even if it's just confirming that this is/is not expected behavior. I'd be super bummed to find out that this IS expected behavior, as it's really counterintuitive and extremely inconvenient.
    Thanks again!

  • How to populate bind variable in view objects where clause in ADF faces

    I've got a page with 2 input items.
    The user manually enters the first value.
    On the second input item I have created a LOV for the item which opens in a popup. How do I restrict the data returned in the LOV using the value entered in the first input item. I have created a bind variable and have included it in the where clause for the view object but how do I populated it.

    Here is an example:
    Using the HR schema with the EMPLOYEES and DEPARTMENTS tables.
    Example is using ADF BC and created an EMPLOYEES entity with an updateable view object for page,
    and created a DEPARTMENTS view as a lookup
    (SQL: select department_id, department_name from departments where department_name = :DeptName)
    1: add method to the backing bean to filter the LOV
    public void getTextValueToFilterLOV(ValueChangeEvent valueChangeEvent) {
    Object value_from_form = valueChangeEvent.getNewValue();
    FacesContext fctx = FacesContext.getCurrentInstance();
    Application fapp = fctx.getApplication();
    JUFormBinding formBinding = (JUFormBinding)fapp.createValueBinding("#{bindings}").getValue(fctx);
    DCIteratorBinding dcBinding = (DCIteratorBinding)formBinding.get("DeptLOVIterator");
    ViewObject vo = dcBinding.getViewObject();
    vo.setNamedWhereClauseParam("DeptName",value_from_form);
    vo.executeQuery();
    2. add valueChangeListener to the inputText on the page with an id and autoSubmit="true"
    <af:inputText value="#{bindings.LastName.inputValue}" label="#{bindings.LastName.label}" binding="#{backing_DeptForm.inputText3}"
    id="inputText3"
    autoSubmit="true"
    valueChangeListener="#{backing_DeptForm.getTextValueToFilterLOV}">
    </af:inputText>
    3. reference the LOV with the id name on the partialTriggers property
    <af:selectOneChoice value="#{bindings.EmployeesUpdView1DepartmentId.inputValue}"
    label="#{bindings.EmployeesUpdView1DepartmentId.label}" binding="#{backing_DeptForm.selectOneChoice1}"
    id="selectOneChoice1"
    partialTriggers="inputText3">
    <f:selectItems value="#{bindings.EmployeesUpdView1DepartmentId.items}"
    binding="#{backing_DeptForm.selectItems1}"
    id="selectItems1"/>
    </af:selectOneChoice>
    Summary:
    When you entered a text (LastName), that value is passed into the backing bean method.
    The Bean method code will find the LOV Iterator and put the value into the bind variable.
    Cheers,
    Jim

  • Syntax error when adding variables in recordset (query)

    MySql,PHP,Dreamweaver,WindowsVista
    Hi I am receiving a syntax error: invalid quantifier ++ $orderNum;s*?> when adding two variables in the recordset (query) dialog box. I get the error when clicking OK.
    Here is what is entered:
    name: fieldname
    type: text
    default: -1
    runtime value: $_GET['Field']
    name: searchvalue
    type:text
    default: -1
    runtime value: $_GET['Search']
    Can anyone help with this?

    That's a completely separate issue. The error message is telling you that you have not defined the testing server correctly in the Site Definition dialog box.
    The Host directory field and URL prefix should both point to the same place, in other words, the root of your website. Host directory is the physical path, while URL prefix is the address you would put in a browser address bar.
    Select Site > Manage Sites. Select the name of the site, and click the Edit button. In the Site Definition dialog box, select the Advanced tab, and then choose Testing server from the Category list on the left.
    Depending on how your remote login works, Host directory should probably be public_html or just /. Use the same value as in the Remote server part of the Site Definition dialog box. The URL prefix should be http://gaylehansen.aisites.com/.
