Additional association problems in jdev 9033

Hi,
besides the already described problem that associations almost always need to have both accessors enabled to prevent weird nullpointer exceptions, there's an additional problem in that it takes ages to open the association wizard.
This makes hunting missing accessors especially annoying. It sometimes takes up to 2 minutes (on a 2.4Ghz, 2Gb mem machine) to open up the association wizard.
All other wizards pop up immediately. It's just the association wizard that misbehaves.
Greetings,
Ivo

Hi Ivo,
I took some time to try to reproduce your problems with the performance of invoking the association editor. I tried to reproduce a performance problem in both 9.0.3.2 and 9.0.3.3 using several sizes of applications and different associations and was unable to reproduce any performance problem. In researching any history of problems with the editor, I found bug 2596870 about performance problems with launching association editor on extended associations, which I filed in Sept. 2002 and verified the fix in Oct. 2002 and I have not see a regression since. I retested extended associations in jdev9033 and everything looked great. Here are my results testing performance with bc4j associations:
Association Editor - Jdev9032 - invoked at 2:53:30 launched at 2:53:32 - 2 seconds to launch
Association Wizard - Jdev9032 - invoked at 2:54:30 launched at 2:54:31 - less than 1 second
Association Editor - Jdev9033 - invoked at 2:57:30 launched at 2:57:32 - less than 2 seconds to launch
Association Wizard - Jdev9033 - invoked at 2:58:30 launched at 2:58:31 - less than 1 second
I know that I will need a project from you and/or complete steps to reproduce the associations they are building. I have a feeling that the only way to find the errors is to try to create or use the associations you are building and cause the exceptions to throw that you reported and then invoke editors once the exceptions have altered the state of jdev. Please let me know if you'd like me to attempt to reproduce with your application.
Thanks,
Amy

    Johnny,
My guess is that the libraries used in your project for 9032 and 9033 have some differences.
I tried 9032 (build 1185) and 9033 (build 1206), I find that I need to include sax.jar and xercesImpl.jar from jaxb 1.0 libraries. Without xercesImpl.jar I get the same error you get. My test case is a new Project with only jdom-b9\samples\SAXBuilderDemo.java
    Thanks,

  • Problem with jdev and running projects

I have been using jdev for about 3 months, and this is the first time I saw this problem.
I opened jdev 9.0.2.829, and tried to run a project in a workspace. The run target is in this project, the source path is separate from the other projects, everything is as it should be and was the last time I ran this project. When I build the project, it only compiles source from this project. When I try to run it, or any other project in the workspace, it compiles all source in all the projects in the workspace, and will not continue because of compilation errors. The single project builds fine. I even tried running after building, since usually it will see that it has a good build, and skip that step. Is this a configuration issue that I inadvertantly overlooked?
    Help!

  • File Association Problems with PDF

I have installed the trial version of Acrobat, and have been using a free reader called FoxIt. My problem is that adobe keeps stealing the file associations from FoxIt. If I set FoxIt to be the default for PDF files, after reboot, or any other adobe product is opened, it sets adobe to be the default for these file types. I really don't want it doing that, any idea where I can dissable this "Feature"?
    Thanks

Probably nothing has changed with your server or your network. Typically, folks realize, "Hey! I can connect via SMB and that's my workaround for the 31 character file name limit!" Or possibly, your Mac folks are browsing the network for your server and selecting it through your Windows domain rather than a Mac zone. Tiger changed the appearance of Windows "WORKGROUPS" so that they now appear as upper/lower case instead of all caps. This use to be a good way to distinguish them from zones.
To guarantee your users are connecting via AFP, which is what I would recommend for a Mac workgroup, have them specifically use "afp://servername" in the "Connect to Servers" dialog. I don't recommend Apple's SMB because Mac OS X splits each file into separate resource and data fork files before placing them on the server. When Windows folks see this, it's a mess. And I don't recommend continuing to use Microsoft's SFM because its version of the AFP protocol hasn't been updated in years. Either way, look to a third party software solution.
Don't let the 65+ GB scare you. It's really not that bad if you're on a 100MB network but the server should recognize that all traffic is local and actually handle all the file moves itself without shuffling files across the network. A bit of a pain, but shouldn't take too long.

  • File association problems with Win2K server

    Hi,
I have a client - 5 Macs in a Win2K network. They're designers and store/work on all their jobs on a Win2K volume. About 2 months ago, problems started happening - files lost their application association (mostly all were turned into Unix exec files), causing sever problems with the workflow. Quark can't open a placed image in it's native app for instance, because the association has been lost. The user has to visit each file and re-associate. As you can imagine, this is not an ideal situation to say the least.
Furthermore, when re-associating the files, the option to "Always open with" is greyed out, so a one-time fix isn't possible.
I suspected that it was something to do with the windoze volume. I more or les proved it by copying one of the files to a local machine and then re-associating: all works as it should when the files are local. Copying the files locally is not an option though.
This really is at the limit of my windoze knowledge. Their sysadmin is also not sure what's happening, aside from the fact that there's no windoze app that's accessing the files and writing them back to the disk. The only thing that looks at the files is the daily backup and that's a read and not write operation. We're stumped, but it really needs sorting. I've suggested they move some of the files to another server and see if the same occurs, which may or may not prove the issue is with the server they're using now. Any guidance gratefully received.
All Macs at 10.4.5 and recent updates, all have QXP 6.5, CS2.

  • Is there a better Cross Dissolve method and associated problem?

I have been using Cross Dissolve for some time now.  I have searched and reviewed cross dissolve help in the forum without so far finding better information or a solution.
    My method:
    - razor at the point to be dissolved
    - drag the Cross Dissolve to the razor point
    - click the dissolve to select the length required
    - razor each end of the dissolve length
    - right click each razored section with a ripple delete
    - reapply the cross dissolve and reselect the length
I find this works for me but could be simpler.  I ripple delete the razored sections because if I do not, the cross dissolves overlap previous sections prior and after the selected clips in the whole video sequence such that the effect appears not to work.  Ripple deleting ensures that the previous sections are within the selected clips.  There has to be a faster way.
    My problem:
This happens after many successful cross dissolves in a Project as though I have run out of allowable times it can be used.  When I try to ripple delete the razored sections, the ripple delete does not work no matter what I do.
What can I do better or correctly to cross dissolve and how can I deal with untimely failed ripple deletes?

I was not implying anything about your "experience" or otherwise although your method did actualy indicate a lack of editing experience..
It was you that asked for a more simpler, faster  way to do one of the most fundamental editing functions.  A cross dissolve.
I do not know how  or why you developed the method you described...
    My method:
    - razor at the point to be dissolved
    - drag the Cross Dissolve to the razor point
    - click the dissolve to select the length required
    - razor each end of the dissolve length
    - right click each razored section with a ripple delete
    - reapply the cross dissolve and reselect the length
but it certainly is unique ....if somewhat cumbersome and time consuming.
I only offered the advice that lead you to a "simpler , faster " way of doing a very simple function.
Your post number 4.  Yes you have misinterpreted that setting.
Stephen kind of unintentionally mislead you by using the term Pre and Post roll  when he should have said " handles". (ie edit the clip  knowing you have additional frames either end to create a fade from.

  • Underline and Code Insight Problem in JDev 10.1.2.0.0 (1811)

    I have just included the libraries to be able to use the MyFaces compnents in jdeveloper and everithing seemed to be working fine, until I imported a package in my case import org.apache.myfaces.custom.date.HtmlInputDate;
The Jdev editor is underlining the line in blue telling me it cannot find the package if I declare a variable of the same type private HtmlInputDate dateFrom; I still get it underlined. funnily enough if I decide to compile it everything works fine. I'm having the same problem when using Log4J. After this happens codeinsight is not available for the underlined items.
It seems as if the compiler can find the packages but the editor no. Am I missing something? anybody had the same problem?

To tell you the truth I'm using a combination of 10.1.2 and 10.1.3 since the beta is still lacking the capability to handle BC4J. I'm waiting eagerly for the final release.
As regards that document I followed the instructions to setup the 10.1.3 and followed the same guidelines to apply the same settings on 10.1.2 which has a different screen to setup the libraries. maybe I just missed out some jar files in the library setup in 10.1.2

  • Af:menu Problem in jdev 11.1.1.6 with IE 9

I've oracle ADF fusion web application using jdev version 11.1.1.6 the template there is af:menu that contains many of af:commandmenuItem
When I use IE9 I can't scroll down to click on commandMenuItem as the menu keep scrolling then returns to the first item.
I must navigate using keyboard to reach to the commandMenuItem that I want.
Please I need solution to this problem with IE.
the menu works in firefox with no problem.

    Hi,
according to certification matrix IE9 should be supported since 11.1.1.5.
    http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/developer-tools/jdev/index-091111.html#Browsers
But anyhow, this may be a browser specific issue which needs to be reported to Oracle support.
Have your tried to run your application with IE's compatibility view?
I had similar problems with 11.1.1.4.0 (but in this version IE9 isn't officially supported)

  • 2 problems with jDev 11.1.1.4.0

    Hi,
I'm using JDev 11.1.1.4.0 and I'm developing a portal that consumes some portlets.
    I have 2 problems:
    1) The first one is shown when JDev starts:
    AM oracle.webcenter.portal.dt.config.PortalConfigUtil getPageTemplateFromConfig
    SEVERE:
    java.lang.NullPointerException
    +     at oracle.webcenter.portal.dt.config.PortalConfigUtil.getPageTemplateFromConfig(PortalConfigUtil.java:69)+
    +     at oracle.webcenter.portal.dt.config.PortalConfigUtil.getDefaultPageTemplate(PortalConfigUtil.java:55)+
    +     at sun.reflect.NativeMethodAccessorImpl.invoke0(Native Method)+
    +     at sun.reflect.NativeMethodAccessorImpl.invoke(NativeMethodAccessorImpl.java:39)+
    2) The second one is about the automatic code that JDev generates when the portal calls the portlet. He generates some HTML (or ADF) code that alterates the HTML page tamplate that I have. It creates a class for the body tag and, doing this, my page can't show the background image.
It puts the portlet code into a html talble's row, and above that row it creates a row with a border (1px). In this situation I have a blue line shown that I don't want and I don't need.
Somebody could help me to fix these problems?
    Thanks in advance

You can't, just open a new thread on the other forum.
The problem might be a jdev problem, the reason I would post it on the other forum is that the portal version does things not well known here...

  • Problems with JDev 11g using JBOSS and ANT

    Hi,
I'm trying to migrate to JDev 11g with JBoss ( version 7.X ) as the AppServer
With JDev 10g all works fine with JBoss, even the Remote Debug, all OK
here is the problems I have :
    1) ANT
JDev doesn't save my ANT settings
every time I launch ANT : Run Ant Target - I must set the Advance settings
JDev 10g I only need to do that once, the settings are saved but not in the 11g, why ?
    2) persistence
I get this error when deploying to JBoss

I can't say many about the ant stuff, but have you tried to put the parameters in a property file and use this to get the parameters to ant?
The reason you can't run the application on WLS is that you have not installed the adf runtime on your wls. The error 'application.xml: [Extension-Name: adf.oracle.domain, exact-match: false].' points to this.

  • Mimetype association problems in Gnome

My current install of Arch Linux has displayed a really weird problem almost from the beginning... You see, when certain applications are installed, they associate with certain mimetypes and open those files by default - for example, GIMP associates itself with various image files. Well, Gnome applications should do the same - for example, Totem normally associates itself with multimedia files - but this time they didn't. In fact, GIMP was the only application that actually associated itself with certain files; all other applications required me to specify the association manually. When opening files via Nautilus, I kept getting "cannot open file blah blah blah" messages, which had to be worked around by using "Open with" and selecting the right application. Open an AVI in Totem? "Cannot open file yada yada yada," very annoying.
At this point I've got most things associated with the right applications, but if I were to, say, try to play an OGG file, I'd have to specify the application. This would have to be done every time I encountered a new filetype, even if I had a Gnome application installed that could open it perfectly.
I'm at a bit of a loss as to what's going on... I've got both gnome-mime-data and shared-mime-info installed, since Gnome requires them. Am I supposed to have the gmime package installed too? Or is there something else going on?

Nope, installing gmime doesn't help... Filetypes that should be autoassociated with applications aren't. And Galeon still refuses to let me open archives directly, instead requiring that I save them first. WTF...

  • File-roller file association problem

    Hi,
I have a problem with file-roller file associations.
When I double-click on a file in file-roller it always asks which application to use.
For instance, If I double-click on a txt file from thunar it opens gvim automatically. But if I try from file-roller, from an archive, it asks which application to open with.
Same thing for pictures. Thunar starts mirage automatically but file-roller asks which application to start.
It seems that file-roller does not read .local/share/applications/defaults.list nor .local/share/applications/mimeapps.list. I tried to modify both but nothing changes.
I am not running gnome but openbox.
I also tried from cli gnome-open foo.txt and, like should be, it starts gvim.
Installing gnome-mime-data didn't solved the problem. Maybe I am missing something?
Still searching on google for a solution. If somebody had similar problem and knows how to solve please let me know.
Thank you very much and as always sorry for my bad English.

    Hi,
The link is working... it's not a nautilus quirk. Try these examples:
    FIRST EXAMPLE:
Login as root and edit mimeinfo.cache (In openSUSE, the linux distribution I'm using right now, this file is placed on /usr/share/applications).
    su
    gedit /usr/share/applications/mimeinfo.cache
    Search for audio/mpeg=
The first application I specify is going to be the program that File-Roller will use to open a compressed mp3 file.
    Example:
    audio/mpeg=totem.desktop;banshee-1.desktop;
    This will open Totem...
    audio/mpeg=banshee-1.desktop;totem.desktop;
    This will open Banshee.
    SECOND EXAMPLE:
    $ su
    $ gedit /usr/share/applications/defaults.list
    Search for:
    text/xml=MozillaFirefox.desktop
    Replace to:
    text/xml=gedit.desktop
This will open xml files with Gedit, instead of Firefox.
    Good luck.

  • Photoshop file association problem

    Hi,
This is probably not the right place as this is most likely not a Photoshop issue, but I'm all out of luck trying to find a solution. I am having issues with file association and was wondering if anyone had a similar problem and may be able to help. I recently installed Adobe Design Premium CS5 only a couple of days ago, upgrading from CS4 and I'm finding that Photoshop is not associated with image files such as .PNG and .JPG and yet Fireworks and even Dreamweaver are.( By the way I'm currently running on Windows 7)
Now when I go to "Open with" on an image, Photoshop is not in the list, so I select browse, I then find the Photoshop EXE and click ok, then it brings open the list of programs to open with again, but after all that Photoshop is not there. I've tried both 32 bit and 64 bit applications of Photoshop, both shortcuts to the EXE and the EXE itself, but nothing seems to work. Other programs within the adobe package selects fine and loads the EXE in the list, it only seems to be Photoshop bugging out.
So has anyone had a similar problem that could please help me out?
    Thanks,
    Aaron

Before you resort to a fresh install of Windows and all that involves I would do the following.
Uninstall all Adobe programs from the Control panel applet.
Run the Adobe Clean Script to the deepest level.
    Clean the registry with CCleaner.
    Re-install CS5.
    (I don't think I forgot anything!)
