Can you put an additional phone line in with a new number for my business?

No. Sky provide residential services only, I'm afraid.

  • Additional phone line for phone system

    Good Morning All,
I recently purchased a BT Micro system phone system via eBay and it came with some handsets also.
The phone system has dual line support.
I already have one BT line for Broadband and calls (analogue) and I was wondering if it would be possible to order an additional auxilary line as I think they are known for the phone system to be able to make and recieve calls if one line is busy but still have it on the same circuit number as the current line.
This is the phone system but without the phones, the one I bought from eBay came with phones: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BT-MICRO-TELEPHONE-SYSTEM-IP-PHONE-BROADBAND-AND-WIRELESS-ALL-IN-ONE-BOX-/...
Hope this makes sense and I would appreciate some help on this.
    Many Thanks,
    Dominic.

    Hi john46,
I tried to order one but an error message said I had to call 0800800150 because I already have a package with BT.
I think auxiliary lines are business based to be honest so that may be why you hadn't heard of it.
I know the difference between auxiliary lines and broadband talk. Auxiliary lines allow you to have two or more lines with the same number.
So one main analogue line with a number and then another 1 or more auxiliary lines with the same number so that callers can get through if one line is busy. Some auxiliary lines don't allow calling features like 1471. A phone system I used presented the message sorry the service requested is not available, thank you for calling, please hang up when in tried to do 1471 on an auxiliary line instead of the main analogue line.
Hope this explains auxilary lines to you a bit better.
    Best Wishes,
    Dominic

  • New/Additional phone line question- help please!

    Hi
I am after some advice, and every time I call BT I get passed around as I am not 100% on what to ask for, or who I should speak to.
Basically, we have 2 phone lines coming into the house.  One line/number + broadband signal goes via a repeater to the office which is a separate building across the garden (approx 300m but I am not sure on the actual distance).  The signal is not great, for the broadband particularly - often drops out etc.  To solve this we would like a new physical line installed in the office building to give us a separate phone and broadband package to that of the main house, but ideally keeping the same number as we currently use in the office.  The office is used everyday for working from home and so is important to us.
Does that make sense?  I fully expect that an engineer will need to look at the site, and there will be a (significant) charge for the line to be installed (underground pipe work for cables already exists from house to office building and so this could be utilised).  Do I just place an order for a new line online, and wait for an engineer's visit?  Can I deal with changing the number at a later date if that is easier for the system to deal with?  Last time I rang BT, I was told I needed to speak to the exceptions team, when I was put through to them she told me all I needed to do was speak to customer services, customer services thought I was trying to move home and then didn't seem to understand what I needed (but it was probably how I was explaining it!).
I would be so grateful if someone could point me in the right direction, or give me tips on what to ask for.  My main worry is keeping the same phone number as it would be so much easier.
    Thanks in advance
    MPA

  • I can't hear or speak on my regular phone line with the new iOS 8.1q

sense my last iOS 8.1 update my iPhone 5 is not working, I can dial and receive calls thrue applications like, FaceTime viber tango etc. but the regular phone line does not work at all. I can't hear or speak anything because the person that I'm trying to talk doesn't hear anything either. Please let me know what can I do because is a software issue and I want to downgrade so I dont loose more money with my business.

I suggest you contact your cellular provider. The ability to make and receive calls is a carrier function. Since you are able to do the number of things that you describe means that the phone is working and data is working. See what your provider has to say about your account.

  • Can i still use a care call phone line with infini...

hi i have placed my order for bt infinity i have been thinking i have a care call phone for my dad which connects to the phone line via an adapter, can i still use it with infinity?
or will the phone socket take away the compatability?
    thanks
    mark

If your care phone adapter is plugged into your BT socket, then if you get infinty installed I think that the only thing that the engineer will update is the master socket.
He/she should fit a new faceplate to the socket for the infinty data line [it has 2 outlets],you will still have a normal phone outlet, and I think that your care phone adapter can be used as normal.
    But others might not agree.
Keep an eye on this thread as pthers might post thier responces.

  • Setting up fax and voicemail on same phone line.

I have one phone line with voicemail and fax.  How do I set up the fax so voicemail doesn't pick up my faxes and the fax doesn't pick up my voicemail messages?  I have the fax and phone going through a splitter.  I just discontinued my separate phone line I used for faxing and internet and want to use a single phone line for everything.  Thanks in advance for any suggestions.  Auntalee

If you have Verizon Home Voicemail (the kind you access by dialing a phone number i.e. no answering machine) I can't see how it would work.
Some fax machines can answer the phone listen for the fax tones and if it doesn't hear them it rings another phone or answering machine connected to it.
It comes down to something has to answer the phone, figure out what kind of call it is a route it to either a answering machine or a fax machine.
The only other way to do it with one line and Verizon voice mail is to get something called Distinctive Ringing service (if its available for Fios).  You get another phone number but not another physical line.  The one phone line rings differently for each number.  The fax machine must then have the distinctive ring feature and be setup to only answer it's ring.  The other ring it ignores which means VM will pick it up.
    Good luck

  • Can I replace my land line with an iPhone and keep the same phone number?  Thanks.

Hi,  Can I replace my land line with an iPhone and keep the same AT&T phone number?  Thanks.

    Hi
There are always some wrinkles in this kind of change.  If you have a home security system like ADT they require a land-line for their system to work.  This less of an issue in apartments and condos - it's mostly a "house" issue.
Before you make the switch (and there may be a switching fee) just make sure you cover all the bases.
    Cheers

  • Issues ordering with 2 phone lines on one account.

After being on the phone for half an hour on Friday the woman seemed to understand everything but we got no confirmation message so I called again today and after spending an hour on the phone was told to call back tommorow.. Not getting my hopes up of it working.
The lady didn't seem to really know how to place orders when we had 2 diffrent phone lines on the same account.
Currently we have 2 phone lines, one without broadband and one on BT Broadband "Upto 8Mbps" and recently Infinity became available in the area. We want to get Infinity setup on the line that has no connection and once it is up and running cancel the current Broadband and the phone line it is on. I understand this will incur a £30 fee to remove the broadband (not sure if theres a further fee to cancel the phone line, the lady didn't mention one though).
On Friday the lady we talked to also said we would have to pay extra to keep the current call plan with Infinity doing this method but the lady I talked to today didn't mention it.
The forum mods are pretty good on here so I was hoping they could sort it out as I'm starting to lose hope..

After spending about an hour on the phone today it seems we got it sorted out.
Apparently you can't have 2 broadband packages on one account even with 2 phone lines so we had to get a seperate account setup just for the Infinity broadband. Once we cancel the old broadband though apparently we can merge it together and the price will go from £30 down to £26.
We wasn't given the account number for the new account but I assume it wont be an issue when the time comes to merge the accounts (however we do that I'm not quite sure).
But we got the confirmation email so I assume everything is okay... The Openreach engineer will be coming a week later than the original date we had planned but it will do I suppose.
    Thanks

  • HT1178 I have BT Infinity at home with the BT modem connected to the phone line and then to a BThub which delivers the wif signal. I have purchased an airport extreme to improve wi fi strength if how do I connect up to hub it states connect modem to WAN o

I have BT Infinity at home with the BT modem connected to the phone line and then to a BThub which delivers the wif signal. I have purchased an airport extreme to improve wi fi strength if how do I connect up to hub it states connect modem to WAN on back of Airport Extreme.
Instructions do not mention connection to BT Hub and the BT modem has only one output which you dicsonnect from Hub and connect to airport extreme leaving. Once you do this Hub has no signal.
    How do I rectify
    Paul

you can also set up the Airport extreme to extend the wireless by hitting the wireless tab in the airport menu then click the drop down menu to select extend
Apple's "extend" function is a proprietary setting that was designed to only work with other Apple routers.
It would be extremely unlikely that this setting would work with a BT product, or any other manufacturer's product for that matter.
But, I haven't tested this with a BT product...and I suppose anything is possible.
Still, I would be extremely surprised if this worked.
The AirPort Extreme might "join" the BT network if you try this......but the AirPort does not provide any additional wireless signal coverage when it "joins" a wireless network. In fact, it really does nothing when it "joins" a network except enable the USB port.

  • Help with phone line in new home

I hope someone can help me.
I have moved into a new rental flat. There is a telephone socket and the phone still works. I was able to get the number by calling my mobile.
However, how do I find out who this is connected to?   Although it is not in my name someone is either going to get a bill at somepoint or a company will be out of pocket.
If I cannot find out who it is connected to, how do I trasnfer it?
I also, only want to get internet access, but if I am required to set up a new telephone, can I only do this with BT? Some years ago I got stung by setting up a phone acount with BT and getting my internet through another provider a day later who transferred the phone line and I ended up having to pay BT a full years contract.  How do I avoid this?
    Very grateful for assistance.

  • Upgrading with phone line internet access

I haven't been able to upgrade my computer because it takes so long with the phone line. We have cable available here but it is extremely expensive and I don't want to give my money to a corrupt corporation (Cablevision!). Other services ATT/Verizon aren't available in our area yet. In the meantime, how can I upgrade? I asked at an Apple store whether I could get upgrade cd's and was told No. True?
    Any help would be appreciated.
    MAC OS X   Mac OS X (10.3.3)

    Hello Diane,
I think it depends on who you ask, how you ask, what you ask for and what mood the person you ask is in!
If you are asking for OS updates and security updates, the Apple stores are usually obliging. ( from what I can gather here in these forums )
If the upgrades / updates are for products that you may have to pay for, then I can see why the store people may be :hesistant: to assist you.
Usually though, taking a Blank CD and a very large smile to somewhere where there is a fast internet connection, results in satisfaction. This process can be enhanced and improved with the addition of Tea, Cakes, Chocolate and an even larger smile!!!
    Good luck!
    Regards

  • Problem with phone line

    Hi there,
I have been having problems with my phone line since May. The line is fine until one day I will pick up to make a call and there will be no dial tone. The tones on the keypad make a noise but the call doesn't happen. No one can get hold of me on my landline. When I get my son to do a line check the phone works again for a few days and then the problem starts again. This has all started since I got broadband. I have had two visits from engineers, the last one being Friday 20th August. That engineer told me he couldn't understand what was happening, he thought it might be the old underground cables and they couldn't cope with the broadband. I have the same issue again and am at my wits end. What should I do next?

    Hi Coomrith and welcome
Did the engineer say whether he was going to escalate this?
You could email the forum mods - [email protected] with your name, account number, phone number and a link back to this thread. They may be able to offer some assistance.

  • Fault with phone line cleared, but IP profile stil...

    Hi,
Apparently there was a fault with my phone line (didn't seem anthing wrong to me), which had caused my IP profile to be dropped, although my connection had never dropped. So an Openreach engineer came out and did something down the road from my house. He called later that day (Friday) to say the fault had been fixed and that my broadband should return to normal after 3 days. Its now over 3 days and I'm still stuck at 2mbps.

  • Major Problem with Phone Line and Support.

Well my problem started about a month and week ago. The problem is that my phone line is messed up. My line drops out unexpectedly and I cant receive calls or send calls. If it does work then the phone only rings for half a second 3 times. If you dont pick it up mostly on the first ring you cant answer the call. And if it doesnt the caller who calls me gets a verizon voice message thing that is setup for the previous owner of the phone number. We called verizon a month ago and setup a appointment for the 18th. Well they called the 17th and said they were sorry they missed us for the appointment on the 17th. We told them it was on the 18th and they said that they guess they forgot to call to tell us the date was changed to the 17th. So they said they will have someone out the next day, on the 18th. We waited at home and they still didnt show up. We called and they set a appointment on the 28th. We waited and they never came again. Now its the 30th and its getting rediculous. We refuse to pay for a service that will never be fixed and we cant use but for 1/3 of the time, if lucky. Is there any fix to this other than getting another appointment?

It sounds to me like your phone line has a short somewhere.  If it was a "hard short", your phone wouldn't work at all.  But yours rings, and then shorts out.  Could be a wiring issue, or it could be a phone issue.  I would unplug all equipment (phones, faxes, computers, etc).  Then take one good phone to a jack and plug it in.  See if the problem still exists.  If it is still a problem, try a different phone at that same jack.  If it's cleared, the problem is with the first phone, if it's still there, unplug the phone and try a different jack.  If the problem cleared, the trbl is at the first jack.  If it's still there, then you either have a short somewhere inside your home wiring, OR the phone number MIGHT BE FORWARDING to another number (which would explain the strange message that callers receive).  Find out how to remove call forwarding in your area (usually by hitting *73 on your phone).  Please post results.
