Address Book Print list view column format

Is there a way of changing the column width of the List View when printing the contacts in Address Book? I select all contacts, check the boxes for address and notes and send so PDF in Preview. The left hand column (Names) takes nearly half the page width. The center column with all the addresses, e-mails and notes is very narrow, which causes the text to wrap in the middle of the address or e-mail.
If it can't be changed, does anyone know of an application that will use the address book data and allow me to format pages to my specification?

Thank you KT. I downloaded the utility and was able to create a tab delimited file from Address Book. I also imported the data into Numbers but I could not produce a report format I wanted. I was afraid I was forced to copy the data into Windows and use one of the many address book formatters.
I kept searching the web and read about Palm Desktop for Mac but that did not include the Notes field. Last night, I believe I found a reasonable solution, it is called "Address Book Reports" by Scruffy Software. There are choices of format and page size. I will try it out today and if it's OK will send the $15 shareware fee.

  • Address Book printing Lists formatting messed up

I used to have no problem, seems with Leopard its now all messed up. I'm trying to print a set of addresses as a List. I want the name, emails, and phone numbers only. It makes a HUGE column for name which leaves little space for the rest, then all the emails get wrapped around.
Is there any way (hacking around or otherwise) to change the column widths for the fields?
Is there any way to have additional font sizes or options available? Only regular and large seem to be there.
Why is it doing it now?? I just gave away my old mac a few days ago, now I can't go back to Panther!

    issue resolved.

  • Customize address book's list view

I have quite a few contacts with the same name (not all countries rely on the middle initial as a differentiator). It would be nice if I could have AB include prefix and suffix in the list view to help me differentiate without having to click on each contact to look at the card. In the end that wont solve all ambiguity, but it is a step in the right direction.

    Greetings,
You can already do that in Address Book. Select a contact, then choose Card > Add Field, choose the field(s) you want to addand enter the data, then click the Edit button to save the changes. Repeat for all the contacts you want to add that information for.
    D'oh!
I didn't know Address Book omitted that feature in Snow Leopard. Sorry.

  • ADDRESS BOOK: Contacts listing/viewing order

ever since i synched my iphone my contacts on my iMac list correctly by last name. but now, some contacts are Last, First, and others are First, Last.
    anyone else experience this?
i would prefer all to be First, Last.

Try selecting all of your contacts, then open Address Book's card menu. I don't have Tiger in front of me at the moment, but I think the menu item you need is called Reset First/Last Name to Default.
There's an application-wide preference in the general pref pane for the name display order. And there's a per-card setting for this as well, which would override the application-wide preference. The menu items in the Card menu can change this setting on a per-card basis.

  • Printing List view/CRM4Mac

For those of you wanting to print list views with only dates that have events, CRM4Mac allows you to do this for events (no To Do's, yet.)
CRM4Mac (Contact Relations Management for Mac) might be worth folks taking a look at: http://www.crm4mac.com/index.html
It integrates Mail, Address Book and Ical (excluding tasks) but for US$50. I hope a more complete solution is on the way (ie Chronos).

Does anyone know if syncing via .Mac will also cause the URLs to show up? None of my to dos have been entered via Mail and yet all but the one I just entered have the offending URLs. Most of the contents of iCal is there via a "Restore iCal..." done as part of a migration to Leopard. I have entered several since then, all via iCal. And, all but the one that I entered just moments ago have the URLs when printed as a list. In terms of .Mac syncing, I only sync iCal and Address book, and the sync is between two Macs running 10.5.1.

  • How can I return to the Classic address book 3 pane view?

How can I return to the Classic address book 3 pane view  & get rid of the stupid fake leather and same for iCal?

I asked the same question at the Apple Genius Bar a week or so ago and they said there was no way to change it.  I am with you - do not like this new format at all and would love it if Apple would offer both -maybe when they do an "fix" next?  This was one change in Lion that should not have been made from Snow Leopard.  I am really sorry I upgraded at this point.

  • When forwarding an e-mail I have lost the address book contact list on the left side.

I used to have the address book contact list on the left side of the page being forwarded to allow easy selection of addressees. It's gone and I need it back.
    Thank you very much

Open a Write window and press F9 to toggle the Contact Sidebar on and off.
You can also turn it on from the View menu in the Write window.

  • How can I edit an Address Book Distribution List that will not display in Lion?

The option to edit an Address Book Distribution List (to select preferred emails for certain contacts) only appears as light print and does not respond to selection.  I have a number of Address Groups that display and funtion properly in Mail, but since installing Lion, the problem described occurs.  Any fix?  Thanks.

The key is that the Contact List is now being kept in the Cloud & you cannot edit the Distribution List in your Mac's Address Book.
    The fix is:
    Quit your Address Book
Go to  Menu --> Sys Preferences --> iCloud
    Uncheck the CONTACTS icon
    Close Sys Pref
Open Address Book - Edit your Distribution Lists (No longer Greyed out)
    Quit Address Book
Go to  Menu --> Sys Preferences --> iCloud
    Check the CONTACTS icon
You should be good to go!
    Hope this helps!

  • Address Book printing completely broken

I cannot print at all from Address Book. I am trying to print labels on an iMac G5 with 10.5.8. Here's what happens:
I have a group with about 25 contacts selected in the left column, then choose File>Print. (Often the first time I choose print it does nothing, so I choose print again.) When the print dialog opens, the preview is blank and underneath it says "Sorting..." but never seems to stop. If I then choose the "Layout" tab and click on any of the drop-down menus, the addresses show up in the preview, but "Sorting..." never goes away. The number of addresses reported and previewed in the print dialog is seemingly random (11 or 13 or 22 of the actual 25).
At this point, if I click "Print," the Address Book print settings disappear from the dialog and nothing happens. If I press cancel, either the same thing happens or the whole app crashes. Print to pdf doesn't work either.
I tried printing from a MacBook that is synced to my iMac with MobileMe, but got the same results. I also reinstalled the 10.5.8 combo update and repaired permissions.

Okay, the one test I didn't try before posting turned out to be the answer. The group included some contacts that did not have complete addresses. I didn't realize how badly that would screw things up. After selecting only the contacts with complete addresses everything worked as expected.

  • Importing AOL Address Book/Contact List into Apple Mail Program

This is probably an old and already answered queation, but it has just come up for me. Does anyone know how to export the AOL Address Book/Contact List so it can be imported into the Apple Mail Program? I would like not to have to reinter all the address when I drop AOL.

The AOL Service Assistant works fine for transfering the AOL contacts to the Apple Address Book. However, I was unable to get the AOL favorites to tansfer to Safari. It keeps hanging up with the rotating basketball. Any further suggestions?

Using 10.7.4, added a name to an address book distribution list but it does not appear in the email "to" address. Had added to people previously and it worked fine but not with the last entry. Verified that the contact's name, address, etc. all correct and does display in the distribution list but not in the "to" field of an email. Very strange!

  • Mavericks Will Not Retain Finder List-View Column Resizing

I've noticed this to occur at the root level of my hard disk in Finder.  A visual will work best:
The "User Guides and Information" folder is truncated at the root level of my Hard Disk.  I will then manually resize the column:
When I close out this window via the red close circle, and re-open, Finder will not remember my custom column view.  It will revert back to the previously truncated state.
Oddly enough, I've found Finder to correctly preserve custom list view columns when you drill down a level (such as my custom column views inside of my Applications folder, for example).

I managed to find a solution that sorts the problem out for the time being till maybe Apple rectifies it.  It is to open Finder and have it expanded to fit the screen.  I don't know the proper names of things but in the heading that says Name etc, right click that so that you get a list of other things that can go in that heading, like Date Modified, Date Created etc.
Tick one or two that you don't need, like Tags for example.  The purpose of those extra headings are to fill the column space at the right hand side of Finder so that it keeps the columns that you DO want on the left hand side kept in the same place.  Once you've got all the headings and columns, move the width of the ones you want to the size that you want, making sure that the ones that you don't want, like Tags, on the right hand side totally fills up the rest of the column space.
This makes the full page Finder column space full up so that the columns you want don't end up shrinking every time you open Finder.  Return Finder to the size that you usually use, adjust the width of your wanted columns to the size that you want and it should stay in place because the rest of the space in Finder is filled with the unwanted columns you chose, but which are hidden from view on the far right hand side of Finder, if you've got Finder smaller than the full screen, that is.
Ever since I did this with my columns (in List view) my columns remain where I have set them.  (I hope you understand all that OK).

  • Change Bridge Default List View Columns

I only view specific image information and am continually moving the list view column headers around.
Is there a way that you can set the default list view columns to display only what you need?

Is there a way that you can set the default list view columns to display only what you need?
You can create your own custom workspaces using the triangle next left to the search field top right Bridge window and choose new workspace.
First you have to define your workspace by resizing or moving the panels to other locations (grab a panel tab and it will be surrounded by bleu lines, move to other location. A horizontal line means as a row in a column. A vertical line creates a column (max 3) and a surrounding line puts it in the same location as an extra tab.
Use either menu view / list or use the default Metadata workspace that also shows list view.
You can right click on the title of the column in list view and from the sub menu choose to insert or close certain columns. This is rather limited in options and the name column can't be altered at all (logically I would think…)
Try playing around and when satisfied save it as new workspace and you can always revert to it by clicking on the workspace name and sometimes also needing to use the reset workspace button (workspaces are still far from perfect but in its current state also proved to be very useful).
