Is it possilbe to address individuals by first name when sending a mass email to a group through Mac Mail?  Thank you.

That is the only workaround to the problem. But, you shouldn't have to do that. There is definitely a bug. Maybe 10.9.3!
Yes, you should never have to use email standards to do what you want.

YOu can create an email group on an iPad. Create a contact name then click link to contacts at the bottom of the screen, pick th ones you want in the group.

There's a functional workaround to send Group emails that takes some setup, and a copy-paste. But it's easier than any one-by-one solution cooked up without a 3rd-party app. Here's the way:
    STEP ONE:
    Go to Settings>General>Keyboard-->Shortcuts
Add a new Shortcut by typing in the full email addresses in the "Phrase" field, separated by comma and space; type in the few letters representing this "Phrase" in the "Shortcut" field.
    STEP TWO:
In the email app, IN THE BODY OF THE EMAIL, type in the letter for the Shortcut and space. Then Highlight-->Copy this text and paste it into the To: Field. (Obviously: Delete this text in email body; and use CC: or BCC: fields as desired.)
Regrettably, you CANNOT just type the Shortcut in the address fields as it gets lobbed into one address.
This "No Group Email Functionality" rates a #FAIL by Apple. One of the few.

  • Want Firefighter to use group email address

Can Firefighter be configured to use a group email address for automated emails?  I have not been able to figure this one out.
    Thanks.

    Clark,
FF does indeed reference the user's email address from within the User Master record.
You therefore have the following options:
    1. Create a dummy User ID with the generic email address maintained.
    2. Assign multiple individual controllers to the appropriate IDs as then all named individuals will receive the log reports.
    3. Send to a single controller and use external email delivery settings to auto-forward the emails to the required destinations.
    4. Change an existing controller's email address within SU01 to reflect the generic email address required - PLEASE DON'T DO THIS though as the email address is also used by other SAP Functions and it is not good practice to deliberately mis-represent user's details.Send to a single controller and use external email delivery settings to auto-foward the logs to relevant recipiants.
You may find, depending on the SP level, that if you add an additional email address into the user master, the Firefighter notification gets delivered to both email addresses. This works in SP06 but unfortunately, the log report does not!
    Have fun, Simon

  • How can I see the indivduals in an existing group email address - that I created

I have a group email address on Thunderbird that I created some time ago but have forgotten how to open it up to see who is on it - I need to alter it.
    Thanks

    click on 'Address Book'
A sub group known as a Mailing List will be a sub group to an address book.
If Mailing Lists are not showing, click on the small arrow to the left of the address book containing the Mailing List.
See image below - example shows I have a 'Test' Masiling list as a sub group to 'Personal Address Book'
Then select the Mailing list to see who is in that Mailing List.
Removing contacts from a Mailing list does not remove them from the associated address book.
Removing them from the associated address book will remove them from both address book and Mailing list.
You can drag and drop new contacts into a Mailing List, but they do need to have a valid email address.

  • New user. Need to know where my email contacts are on my macbook pro and how I can make a group email address

New user. Email contacts imported to MacBook pro from PC - but I'm unable to call up entire contact list or to make a group emailing contact.

Assuming you are using Apple's Mail application, contacts are managed via the Contacts application, in your application folder.  As for various addressing methods, including groups, maybe this:

  • How to get group email addresses in BCC on iPad?

Have recently bought iPad mini, have MacBook so synced. Cannot get group email addresses to show up in iPad addresses book, and can't get them into bcc on mail?

That is because groups cannot be added in the iPad mail app, as bizarre as that seems. That functionality does not exist. You cannot create groups in the contacts app on the iPad either. Yoy can create them in iCloud.com but not on the iPad itself. You just have to add the email addresses one at a time by tapping the blue + button and selecting the contact from the contacts window that will pop up.

So it does list it, I have 2 domain controllers at the same site one is also hosting the exchange server (we are a small business). I created the distribution group directly on the exchange management console. I will force AD replication, but I have looked

  • How do I use a Contact Group email address as the sender of an email?

I want members of the contact group to be able to manual select the contact group email address as the SENDER.  This, primarily, so that recipient clients can respond, if necessary, by merely pressing reply (then the entire group gets the email).
    Possible?

By "contact group" do you mean a distribution group?  If so, you need to use one of the following the shell commands:
    For Send on Behalf:   Set-DistributionGroup <group alias> -GrantSendOnBahalfTo <useralias>
    For Send As:              Add-AdPermission<group ID>-User<user alias>-ExtendedRights'Send-As'

  • Group email includes wrong address

I'd been sending a group email via Contacts just fine. Until this morning, I noticed that that group email included addresses that were in a different group! It's still doing the same thing, even though I restarted my iMac. Help?

Fixed it myself. I went to System Preferences, then iCloud. I deselected "Contacts." Then I went back to my iMac Contacts and let it "reboot." I did a group email, and everything worked. Then I returned to iCloud and clicked "Contacts." Voila! Back to normal!
    Do I get a star?  :-)

The address book on the .Mac web site does not support the groups that you have defined in Mac OS X's Address book.

  • Group Email Addresses

    Hi,
Is it possible to create Group email addresses from within Server Admin without going into the depths of Postfix aliases?
    Thanks,
    StuG

You can create group email adresses the unix way.
    1. Open Terminal.app
    2. Enter "sudo open /etc/aliases"
    3. In TextEditor.app goto the line "# Put your local aliases here."
    4. Type the group mailaddress without @domain.com followed by ":" then hit [TAB]
    5. Now you can enter receiving users shortnames seperated by ","
    6. Save the document
    7. Go to your Terminal.app
    8. Enter "sudo newaliases"
    Example:
    [email protected] and [email protected]
    # Put your local aliases here.
    managers: john,peter,mary
    sales: peter,eric,
    PowerBook G4   Mac OS X (10.4.10)

  • Group email addresses into new email

when composing an email and trying to import group from address book, I cannot get emails addresses to appear in "TO" line when typing in name of group

    Hi Lynn
I assume you see the contact names in blue bubbles, which appear after you type in the group name?
If you click on any of these bubbles you will see a list of all available email addresses for that contact, a checkmark shows which one is currently being used for this email.

  • Trying to set up a group email "RAM" that will contain multiple email addresses.  Receive error messages "check SMTP settings" or "Invalid email address" when I try to send a message to the group.

I am trying to set up the group email "RAM" that will contain multiple email addresses.  I have inputted the name "RAM" as a corporation.  In the section labeled "Email" I have inputed multiple email addreses so that when I want to send an email to the group "RAM" I just have to input the name "RAM" in the section labeled "To" , input the Subject in the Subject box & the email will be sent to the multiple addresses, yet when I do I receive either one of two error messages being "Invalid Email Address" or "Check SMTP settings" each of which allows me the option of with cancelling the email or send it anyway.

Bump. I'd like to know, too. I even have some synched Groups from my Apple Address Book I email to using Apple Mail on the Powerbook, but I can't see how to do a group mailing on the Touch either.
In normal Mail, I just start typing the name of the group, and it autocompletes, I hit return, and it fills in all addresses in the Group.

  • Can I make an email list of approx. 12 addresses to do a group message?

Can I make an email list of approx. 12 addresses to do a group message?

I don't know that even PC can do that.
If you Bcc then a recipient does 'reply to all', it will still only go back to the sender. A PC will no do list expansion that way if the original message has been sent using Bcc. You can't have it both ways - you either share the email addresses so 'reply-all' works, or you hide it and reply-all doesn't work then.
[** disclaimer: not sure if an Exchange type server allows all member users to "share" a list ** ]
You need to use a mailing list service. If you host a domain name website, many accounts come with Smartlist or mailman, for example. So you have [email protected] is the list email address with the subscribers email addresses hidden on the server, the server expands the list and Bccs the users, but the reply to goes back to the list server which then expands and mail out BB to each subscriber again.
Yahoogroups is exactly the same, doesn't Google have a list serv as well?
