Adf-loc.jar? - How to generate in ANT builds

Hi,
I've noticed that when packaging my app through JDeveloper, it automatically generates this "adf-loc.jar" in the correct location.
a) What is this Jar? What is it used for?
b) How do I generate it through my ANT build script?
I've notice that it throws an error during deployment on my server, if this jar is not there.
My current work around is to grab a copy of the jar from the JDev package then manually packaging it into my ANT build.
Surely there is a better way of doing this?
Thanks

It turns out that this adf-loc.jar is simply an empty jar with a manifest which points to the adf directory of the WAR.
To automate this build, I ran
<jar destfile="adf-loc.jar">
<manifest>
<attribute name="Class-Path" value="../adf"/>
</manifest>
</jar>
Then, I packaged it into the WAR appropriately:
<zipfileset file="adf-loc.jar" prefix="lib"/>

  • How to use single ant build script to package the application with and without native extensions

    Hi,
    I am using iOS native extensions for Adobe air. For this I am listing the extensions in the application descriptor file. Since the package with native extensions are meant to run only on device, I want my build script to work without native extensions too to be able to run on simulator. Is this manadatory that I need two separate application descriptors/basically two build scripts to compile and package them? Please suggest and let me know if more explanation is needed.

    Hi
    This is a known issue addressed by CR205204
    As you said, IBM actually does not have rt.jar in its JDK - they have moved contents of rt.jar into various jars.
    IBM is not using org/apache/crimson/tree/ in their JDK at all.So the error shows up in the end of build even if it succeeds
    You may need to add crimson.jar to wlwBuild classpath, since it is not part of IBMs JDK.
    Note: the build will work even w/o crimson.jar giving a non build related IDE exception in the very end.

    why are you wanting to use single frames?
    They allow having the initial frame address stay in the

    there is a jar for this file creation, "../Middleware/oracle_common/modules/oracle.adf.pageflow_11.1.1/adf-pageflow-rc.jar". The class that creates task-flow-registry.xml is "oracle.adf.controller.rc.TaskFlowRegistry.class[write(URL taskFlowRegistryUrl)]".

  • How to generate ojdeploy-build.xml?

    Hi Experts,
    I has been googling and surfing web a lot but unfortunatelly haven't found any exact step-by-step instructions about integrating ADF appl with ANT.
    I believe my case is very common:
    ADF Application with:
    - Model project (based on ADF BC)
    - viewcontroller project, with dependency on model project.
    I want to get EAR file using ojdeploy.
    I found only how to generate build.xml for viewcontroller project' WAR, but I saw posts which refer ojdeploy-build.xml.
    How can I generate ojdeploy-build.xml file?
    Or it should be created manually?
    Where can I get a list of parameters for <ojdeploy-build>.<deploy> task?
    Thank you!

    Hi,
    if you have to generate simple XML's like this it is easy to do that using JDOM.
    I have used it and it is really easy to use, very simple to learn.

    Good luck,

  • Can't create a true ADF Libray JAR FIle

    I created a Model project. Then created an ADF Library JAR File Deployment Project to deploy the jar to the file system.
    I then, created a separate project and tried to add the export jar file to it via a File System connection in the Resource Palette.
    But, when I right click on the jar file in the Resource Palette, I only see 2 options, "Open" and "Advanced Search".
    I expected to have an option to add the jar to the selected project.
    Now, I am able to add the jar to the Project if I go to the projects properites, then add the jar via the "Libraries and Classpath".
    Note that even the icon for the jar is different than those from other System Jar files (the bookshelf/library icon).
    The icon I see for my jar is hard to identify, sort of like a torch.
    So, what is going on?
    I have double and triple checked that my deployment profile is for an "ADF Library JAR File".
    I have deleted the default deployment profile and create a brand new one.
    Still, the same issue.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks in advance.

    When you say you see the XML files for the EOs & VOs do you mean in the resource palette? Never mind, let's take a step back.
    Via the following link this is what you should see for a Model project ADF Library JAR that contains EO/VOs etc:
    https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/12154176/pic01.png
    If you were to right click on the JAR this is what options you should see:
    https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/12154176/pic02.png
    I'd suggest you're still doing something wrong when you create the ADF Library JAR. To assist you via this link:
    https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/12154176/Model.zip
    ...you'll find a previous workspace/project I've setup. If you right click on the Model project look to the Deployment options you'll see an ADF Library deployment profile called "Model_Model_adflib". If you exit out of the preferences, right click Deploy -> select Model_Model_adflib, the appropriate ADF Lib JAR will be created under Model/Model/deploy. Returning to JDev and the Resource Palette, add a file system connection to this deploy directory, then you should see what I see above.
    Let us know how you go.

  • How to generate swf file automatically on server ?

    Hi. I'm new to flash and i've just learnt how to use OSMF to build a flash player. My question is very basic and i hope to put it as clearly as i can:-
    Now i can create a flash player from flash builder. But in order to point to a new location for the video, i need to recreate the swf from flash builder. So how would i generate a new swf or change the video address on the server when a user uploads a new video. Of course i can't afford to build the project in flash builder myself every time a video is uploaded !
    I think the answer incldes flex, that's why i'm asking here. Thank you.

    For what you're using it for, it sounds like you would do better to create one SWF that can have different data fed into it, either by loading external data such as XML, or by using application paramters (flashVars). Use this data to determine the correct location of the video.
    However, it is possible to compile server side using the mxmlc and/or compc compiler. For example, I use Apache Ant to compile themes on the server-side, which then get loaded into an app at runtime. IMHO, this method should only be used for compiling "resources," and not used for compiling "information," as your post suggests.

  • How to call imported ant target/task in Java

    Hi,
    Can anybody advice me how to call an ant target/task, which is
    "<import/>"ed from another build file, from within Java code?
    Here's my Java code:
    import org.apache.tools.ant.*;
    import java.io.*;
    import java.util.*;
    public class MyTest
    private Project project;
    public void init(String buildFile, String baseDir) throws
    Exception
    project = new Project();
    try { project.init(); }
    catch (BuildException e)
    { throw new Exception("The default task list could not be
    loaded."
    // Set the base directory. If none is given, "." is used.
    if (_baseDir == null) _baseDir=new String(".");
    try { project.setBasedir(_baseDir); }
    catch (BuildException e)
    { throw new Exception("The given basedir doesn't exist, or
    isn't a directory."); }
    if (_buildFile == null) _buildFile=new String("a.xml");
    try { ProjectHelper.getProjectHelper().parse(project, new
    File(_buildFile)); }
    catch (BuildException e)
    { throw new Exception("Configuration file "+_buildFile+" is
    invalid, or cannot be read."); }
    public void runTarget(String _target) throws Exception
    // Test if the project exists
    if (project == null) throw new Exception("No target can be
    launched because the project has not been initialized. Please call the
    'init' method first !");
    // If no target is specified, run the default one.
    if (_target == null) _target = project.getDefaultTarget();
    // Run the target
    try { project.executeTarget(_target); }
    catch (Exception e)
    { throw new Exception(e.getMessage()); }
    public static void main(String args[])
    try{
    MyTest mytest=new MyTest();
    mytest.init("c.xml",".");
    mytest.runTarget(null);
    }catch(Exception e)
    e.printStackTrace();
    Here are my build files: (they look almost the same. But it's only to see if <import> works.)
    1.c.xml:
    <project basedir="." default="runtests" name="TestC">
    <import file="a.xml"/>
    </project>
    2. a.xml:
    <project basedir="." default="runtests" name="TestA">
    <target name="runtests" depends="">
    <mkdir dir="ttt"/>
    </target>
    </project>
    If I directly set build file "a.xml" in MyTest.java, everthing works
    well. However, if set "c.xml" then do task "<mkdir dir="ttt"/>" defined
    in "a.xml" which was imported by "c.xml", when running, I got an
    exception. Looks like it can't parse my c.xml which include "import".
    BTW, I'm using ant 1.6.2, and running "ant -f c.xml" was ok.
    Did I miss any classpath or something? Any idea?
    Thanks,
    Amy

    I have a standard Ant build script for signing a jar file. I import it into my master Ant build files with
    <import file="Sign.xml"/>
    and then in my master Ant script I setup the name of the jar file e.g.
    <property name="jar-file" value="${fun}/FunApplet.jar"/>
    and then invoke a target
    <target name="sign-jar" depends="jar, sign">
    </target>
    Since this target (sign-jar) depends on target 'jar' and target 'sign' it executes the 'jar' target and then the 'sign' target that is contained in Sign.xml.

  • Adf bc jar for base entity classes and extending them existing  project

    Hi,
    I am using jdev 11.1.1.0 and have created a base workspace/project and adf jar for my base entity classes.
    1. I can consume this base adf bc jar in a separate new consuming workspace and create VO based on base bc classes or create new EOs that extend base bc entity classes.
    2. Furthermore, for an existing consuming project that earlier included src/ of base entity (BC components), i can remove the dependency on bc source and bring in this new adf jar and everything including the view controller and the service/datacontrol works fine.
    The issue i am running into is as follows.
    - In the existing project (#2) above i try to create a couple of entities based on entities in my base jar; associations are automatically brought in. Note i am not overriding any attributes. My intent here is to generate .java and implement some code.
    - I then try to make my existing VOs based on the newly extended entity (VO overview->Entity Objects-> Shuttle NewEntity from Available to Selected)
    - I then try to remove the old EO from selected under VO overview->Entity Objects->Shuttle OldEntity from Selected back
    - I get a warning dialog box that says something to the effect that some viewlinks are dependent on these old EOs in this consuming project.
    - I tried to laboriously analyzed dependencies and it this dialog box does not make any sense as I have already extended EOs and the tooling should be able to let me use these
    My questions
    - Why I am not able to remove old entities from VO dependencies
    - Is it ok to leave the old EOs in "Selected" along with the newly extended EO ? What are the implications for this?
    - I also thought about extending base associations, but did not go anywhere.
    In general, I am ok with consuming an ADF BC jar that has entities etc. but not clear about removing dependencies of base EOs on VOs when entities are extended and consumed in a pre-existing project that used base entities.
    I can send a project if any PM is willing to take a look at it.
    Thanks,
    ps:
    I have already gone over the following info
    http://technology.amis.nl/blog/215/organization-of-bc4j-domain-eo-and-business-vo-package
    .. wants to create an enterprise data model in BC4J, reflecting the Enterprise Data Model set up in the RDBMS. All (or at least most) business rules will be implemented in the Middle Tier – to take the load of the database and also allow developers not comfortable with PL/SQL to define and maintain the business rules. It is clear that this means that all applications that need to access – and manipulate – the database, need to go through the BC4J foundation layer. Martijn wants to define the Entity Objects – and their business rules – only once and share that definition between different projects. Each projects can create its own ViewObjects on top of these shared Enterprise Entity Objects.
    http://radio-weblogs.com/0118231/2005/09/29.html
    I am currently working on a project for a partner where we will be using ADF BC as our model layer for a large application. In order to keep the footprint of each application module down to a reasonable size, we are intending to create a number of separate 'root' application modules for each functional area of the application. Within, these 'root' application modules we will then use nested application modules to further partition the application. All of the application modules will be accessing the same datasource and will need access to the same database objects.
    In order to separate our code between the development team and into function areas, our initial thoughts were that we would create an ADF BC model project containing Entity Objects for all of the database tables e.t.c. as these are common amongst all functional areas. We have configured all of the EOs for validation rules, defaulting values and extending doDML() as appropriate. Happy at this stage we then created a simple .jar file to deploy all of the definitions. Upon creating a new ADF BC project for each functional area we added the jar file as a library import into the new project. However when we the tried to create some new View Objects via the JDev Wizard we were unable to see the imported Entity Objects.
    Is the only way to share Entity Object definitions between different ADF BC projects to manually copy the source definition files into the new projects src directory? Since this would mean multiple copies of the same components, it could prove to be a maintenance nightmare.Is there a way of doing it without creating multiple copies of the same object definitions?
    The developer is spot on in their ideas of layering and reuse, and even has created a library for their reusable entities. This last step is not something everyone thinks to do. The missing step is known as "importing" components, so with that one extra bit of knowledge under his belt, he should be able to do exactly what he envisions. My little article called Difference Between Adding and Importing Business Components tries to explain the difference and gives the menu options to choose to perform the importing.
