ADF Mobile: Listview rendered

Hi there,
I'm developing an ADF Mobile application. I consume a web service and populate a list view. One of my problems is to understand when the list is populated so i'll make another button appear that uses the results.
Thank you,

Hi Frank,
My problem is "Show" button queries the web service which takes time (10 seconds or so) i would like to disable buttons so user will not click "Show" again until the list is populated. If user selects other parameters and press "List" again i fist would like to hide the listView and show it when the list is populated.

• ADF Mobile: Dynamic action calls based on a listView item selection

I've currently got some supporting data that provides the "name", "description", an "image", and a "navigation" per row. I populate a listView based on this collection and assign the name to the list item text, the image to the list item image, and I am attempting to create some dynamic navigation to the next mobile page based on the value of the "navigation" in the data.
I attempted to use #{row.navigation} as the action for the listItem, but I am getting an error "Cannot find property row" at run-time when I click on an element. I know the row data for navigation is correctly there because I can feed the #{row.navigation} into the listItem's text property and it shows up correctly there. I also made sure that the value in this navigation corresponds to a valid action in the task.
Is there another way to do this?

Thanks,
Jim

Thanks for a quick response.
I think I'm missing something since it did not populate any value.
Here is what I did based on the code you provided.
I've created dynamic action on field Type to execute a javascript code you provided when the value in this filed changes. The output or the items(s) affected is set to Address1 field. I didn't change the code except replacing the the actual value of Type and Label.
Then I went to Address1 field and on the 'Label' I put the code . It returns nothing.
Am I missing anything? Am I suppose to change something else as well.
Your help is really appreciated.

• Issues in ADF mobile application using Trinidad components

I am facing the following issues when developing a mobile application using trinidad components :
Jdev version : 11.1.1.6
1) I dont see a date component using trinidad components? The dev guide http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E23943_01/web.1111/e10140/sup_comp.htm says that tr:inputDate is supported but when i try to drag a data field to jsf page i don't see an option for Trinidad date component. so i went ahead and created an af:inputDate in the page. But the date selection dialog doesnt open up.
2) i tried using 'Rendered' for conditional rendering of a component but it does not work or refresh immediately, the same problem is solved in my adf application using visible property but looks like there is no 'Visible' property for Trinidad components. any work around?
3) i wanted to have a 'create insert' call in my task flow before launching the page. Since Task flows are not supported in ADF mobile application, i have added 'ADF Faces' also into my project and created task flow and jsff page as i do for a adf web application the only diff being the usage of trinidad components in my jsff page. is this fine? Also can we mix trinidad components and adf components into the same page?
4) I have a tr:inputText on a clob input text field which i am updating in ADF page using a clob converter class. Same thing i cannot do for trinidad text as it is resulting in null pointer exception. any solution to update clob fields into database which uses tr:inputText compents.
Help to solve any one of the above issues (by quoting serial no) would be highly appreciated. Thanks.

• How to get the ADF Mobile Client extension

Hi all,
Please post some link in which I can download the ADF Mobile Client extension for Jdeveloper 11.1.1.4.0 directly to my local disk. I have tried going through Help --> Check for updates in Jdeveloper but my proxy does not
allow it. so the only possible option for me is to download it to my local disk and should update it. I searched for it but was unable to find the appropriate link so I got to post here. Kindly help me out in finding it please....
Thanks,

Hi Timo,
Now I am more confused whether it is available or not. In the oracle site I have seen that I can develop mobile apps using trinidad components in which <trinidad-config> file can be used to define the different platforms on
which the application can be rendered. Is it true ?? When I created a mobile app I got only <trinidad-config> I didnt get <trinidad-skins> in which I can define the style sheet. There is a lot of confusion in how to proceed to
develop the application. Kindly help me on this. I need to develop a mobile app which is not only accessible in Blackberry but should also be able to get rendered on the other platforms also. Which is the best way to develop a
POC on this. Kindly help me timo.
thanks,

• ADF Mobile : sample no Vegas

" @fnimphiu so it's like Vegas - "what happens in a region - stays in a region" "
at https://twitter.com/DuncanMills/status/255318833412308992
I wonder how much this translates to bounded task-flows and using managed-beans in a bounded task-flow that are defined in a wider scope outside the bounded task-flow.
In the ADF Mobile CompGallery sample application [1] the bounded task-flow "general-taskflow" has a view configured for the page "commandButton.amx".
That "commandButton.amx" page has this button component:
<amx:commandButton id="back" action="__back" text="General">

Hi,
First let's forget region for a sec (or a while), since ADF Mobil has no region support. :-)
Now, ADF Mobile primarily supports 3 types of scopes for managed bean: application, pageFlow, and view. The definition and scope for these scope variables are basically the same as the "big" ADF cousin, except "application" takes on a little more significance. In ADF Mobile applications, we introduced a concept called "features", where each feature can be implemented either in AMX, local HTML, or Remote HTML. To pass state between features, you would need to use application scope variables. This is how, for example, you can pass data from a Remote HTML feature into an app scope variable, and then have the AMX feature to consume it.
Otherwise, the best practice is the same - application is to share data across the entire mobile app/between features, pageFlow is for a task flow, and view is for a view.
In this case below, the intent for the property related managed beans is simply to retain property values as user select between different components (and corresponding task flows) to view how component behaves. The managed beans for DVT component data are set to be application scope, also to allow multiple DVT components and corresponding task flows to share the same data.
Thanks,

• ADF Mobile _back without iterator refresh (11.1.2.3.0)

Hi Forum Group,
In ADF Mobile, does anyone know how to prevent the iterator from refreshing if using the back built-in? Let me try to explain the scenario. I have an amx page with that has two results from two separate rest web services. Both of these rest web services are called with a URLDataControl via pageFlowScope variables assigned within the pageDef. The second result depends upon the result of the first for it to be called. All of this is not a problem as I'm navigating with taskflows and methods and can, therefore, properly populate the parameters (pageFlowScope variables) and call the web services. If, however, I want to iterate with previous and next (moving the rows from the default 0 row index while properly re-querying the second dependency) and then further navigate to a detail page, using the back causes the iterators to refresh (which would be out-of-sync if I did not use a taskflow method to reset everything). I would like, however, the state to remain the same on the "header" page, rather than requerying everything and having to have the user move to the appropriate row that they were wanting again. All I simply need to do is tell the iterator (or URLDataControl) to not requery if _back is used.
Any ideas?

Hi Frank,
Thank you for your response. Is there a way then to execute a piece of code right before the rendering of the page, so that this "current row" can be set? Like in web adf development, the binding to the backing bean can be added to any component and the set serves as an initializer (where code can be added to process things like this).

• Bean value to amx:verbatim to make HTML dynamic ADF Mobile

Hi guys,
As using <amx:verbatim> to insert HTML directly in AMX page for ADF Mobile.
<amx:verbatim id="v1">
#{PolicySummaryBean.currentSVG1}

#{PolicySummaryBean.currentSVG2}

</amx:verbatim>
Btw I tried to using bean value as EL to produces HTML from bean and seems didn't work
How to make it possible ?
Thanks

Hi,
don't think it will execute EL this way. However,you should be able to execute JavaScript (what you should keep in mind though is that any DOM manipulation on AMX page rendering is a risk and can put you into trouble). What is the HTML you want to insert (and to what extend do you control the metadata tags added to the AMX page this way? Wouldn't it be possible to add the content using AMX components?

• ADF Mobile-PieGraph not passing Series and GroupAttributes to ClickListener

JDeveloper Version: 11.1.2.2.0
We are developing ADF Mobile Apps and using the ADF trinidad DVT PIE Graph component. The custom click listener method I have in place is not able to retrieve the series or group attributes when clicked. All of the Series and group attributes are being returned as NULL. Below is the code I have in place:
<dvtt:pieGraph id="graph1" value="#{bindings.EroProductReportGrpByView1.graphModel}"
subType="PIE" customLayout="CL_NONE"
threeDEffect="true" inlineStyle="width:100%"

<dvtt:pieLabel rendered="true"/>
<dvtt:graphTitle horizontalAlignment="CENTER"

Hi Frank,
We have not yet tested on Mobile browser. Currently we are testing on IE and Safari browsers and the click listener is not able to receive the Series and Group attributes of the PIE graph.
One more question - Does the imageFormat of the Pie Graph needs to be explicitly specified as "FLASH" for the clickListener to work correctly?
I even tried specifying in the jspx file and it is throwing error as below:

• ADF Mobile: Nested EL

Hi there,
I'm using ADF Mobile to develop a mobile app (thus JDev, 11.1.2.3.0).
Now I'm facing an issue regarding nested EL.
I push some button and this will open a popup witch display an error/succes message.
Code of my popup:
<amx:popup id="mess" inlineStyle="width:90%">
<amx:panelGroupLayout id="pgl1" layout="vertical" halign="center">
<amx:outputText value="#{viewcontrollerBundle.ACTIONDATE_ERROR}" id="ot2" rendered="#{bindings.message.inputValue eq 'ACTIONDATE_ERROR'}"/>
<amx:outputText value="#{viewcontrollerBundle.TIME_ERROR}" id="ot3" rendered="#{bindings.message.inputValue eq 'TIME_ERROR'}"/>
<amx:outputText value="#{viewcontrollerBundle.SUCCESS_REGISD}" id="ot4" rendered="#{bindings.message.inputValue eq 'SUCCESS_REGISD'}"/>
<amx:outputText value="#{viewcontrollerBundle.ERROR_SAVING}" id="ot5" rendered="#{bindings.message.inputValue eq 'ERROR_SAVING'}"/>
<amx:panelGroupLayout halign="center" layout="horizontal" id="pgl2" rendered="#{bindings.message.inputValue eq 'SUCCESS_REGISD'}">
<amx:commandButton text="#{viewcontrollerBundle.OK}" id="cb3">
<amx:closePopupBehavior popupId="mess"/>
<amx:actionListener binding="#{bindings.resetFeature.execute}"/>
</amx:commandButton>
</amx:panelGroupLayout>
<amx:panelGroupLayout halign="center" layout="horizontal" id="pgl3" rendered="#{bindings.message.inputValue ne 'SUCCESS_REGISD'}">
<amx:commandButton text="#{viewcontrollerBundle.OK}" id="cb4">
<amx:closePopupBehavior popupId="mess"/>
</amx:commandButton>
</amx:panelGroupLayout>
</amx:panelGroupLayout>
</amx:popup> Like you can see, I'm using mutiple output texts. I want to move it to just 1.
I tried :
<amx:outputText value="#{viewcontrollerBundle[bindings.message.inputValue]}" id="ot2" />And some variations like with a . or ' but nothing seems to work.
(I'm using a resource bundle since the app needs to be used in different languages)
Any suggestions on how to fix this? Or an other way to call the popup wich can support resource bundles?
Thanks in advance.

Blueberry Coder wrote:
Hi.
You could access the bundle through Java code in a managed bean, and bind your amx:outputText to that.
Here is some sample code:
import oracle.adfmf.framework.api.Model;
import oracle.adfmf.framework.contract.adf.NameValuePair;
public String getMessage(String err) {
Model mod = new Model();
NameValuePair[] result = null;
if (err.equals(ACTIONDATE_ERROR)) {
result = mod.getValue(new String[] { "#{viewcontrollerBundle.ACTIONDATE_ERROR}" });
else if ...
return (String)(result[0].getValue());
}Simply create a method binding and assign bindings.message.inputValueas the parameter value.
Best Regards,
Frédéric.Thanks!
I didn't work completely tough. I added :
mod.loadBundle(my_resource_bundle_basename, my_var_attribute);before the .getValue();
You should blog about this. Because if you don't, I will ;)

• ADF Mobile - XML Parsing

Previously I posted on calling a remote webservice - Calling remote service using ADF Mobile and I get my weather application working already.
The webservice returned me a string which is a XML form. I want to parse the XML to make it easy-read.
The currently output from the webservice (http://www.webservicex.com/globalweather.asmx) is as below.
*<string><NewDataSet>*
*
*
*<Country>Singapore</Country>*
*<City>Singapore / Paya Lebar</City>*
*
*
*
*
*<Country>Singapore</Country>*
*<City>Singapore / Changi Airport</City>*
*
*
*</NewDataSet></string>*
How do I parse this output so I can display the string properly in mobile?
Singapore / Paya Lebar
Singapore / Changi Airport
Any direction on how to do this? Or is there any built-in function inside JDeveloper?

Try to go to this link - http://www.webservicex.com/globalweather.asmx?op=GetCitiesByCountry and use Singapore as CountryName or any country you prefer
The output is a string
+<string></string>
-<string>
<NewDataSet>

<Country>Singapore</Country>
<City>Singapore / Paya Lebar</City>

<Country>Singapore</Country>
<City>Singapore / Changi Airport</City>

</NewDataSet>
</string>
The tutorial for ADF Mobile from Oracle website is able to drag the output from data control - return -> value/class. But this webservice only return a single value of string. How do I change it to display properly in ADF Mobile?

• Unable to load ADF Mobile for Android deployment profile.

Hello,
I'm trying to implement a simple application on an android platform using this:
[http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E18941_01/tutorials/MobileTutorial/jdtut_11r2_54_2.html]
I already downloaded the updates needed as extensions and started the emulator using the SDK Manager.exe. However, i'm not able to create a deployment profile of type: "ADF Mobile for android". I only find type "ADF Mobile Feature Archive" which doesn't work for me because when i try deploying it, i don't find the "deploy application to emulator" option. Any thoughts?
Regards,
Mohamed

Hi.
To deploy to the emulator or to a device, you must create a deployment profile on your application, not on the ViewController or ApplicationController projects.
Best Regards,
Frédéric.

• Not able to access SOAP web service data control from adf mobile

Hi,
I am trying to call web services from adf mobile..
I have created data control from external web service and it is perfectlly working on web browser..
But why it is showing an error on emulator??
Is there any .jar file missing in adf mobile so that it is not supporting a web service?
Or is there any other problem? Emulator is connected to network and I am able to run WSDL in emulator's browser..
Please help me to solve this issue..
Thanks,
Laxmi

Emulator is connected to network and I am able to run WSDL in emulator's browser..
Connecting to WSDL in the browser is not the same as connecting to WSDL in an application.
To access a web service from an Android device enable a permission in AndroidManifest.xml that allows applications to open network sockets. Add the following uses-permission element.
<uses-permission android:name="android.permission.INTERNET"></uses-permission>

• Is it possible to call wcf webservice on adf mobile?

Hi all,
I tried to consume a wcf webservice method on adf mobile by using java api as seen as below code snippet.
I tried to run on classical adf generic application by creating webservice proxy. Then i could get response properly. But when i consume webservice method on adfmobile i get http 501 error response. I have tried using drag and drop into amx page and execute binding action, result is same.
What might be the reason?

No, as far as i know they are not secured service. What if they are secured, do i need to authenticate during consuming method in webservice proxy, dont i. But as i said before, i could consume and get response on webservice proxy in regular adf project.
I can consume methods of another webservice (i.e. http://www.html2xml.nl/Services/Calculator/Version1/Calculator.asmx?WSDL) also in all methods that presented.
No, i can not obtain access on another way to server, it is remote and out of my control.
Ok, i tried as you say.
Problem exists here too. May be an interopability problem on between adf platform and wcf service? What do you think Mr Shmeltzer?
