ADF UIX:  MessageChoice in a table. NavigationBar.

Hi,
I've got two problems with adf uix.
I would like to have a drop-down list which presents the answers possible to each questions. (An answer is referancing a questions with two columns: quesNumero, and numerodep, sequenced in parent).
I don't know why, but the visible answers are those of the first question.
Here are the properties of the list binding editor:
http://img81.imageshack.us/img81/5376/prob16rj.jpg
Here's the source code of the list:
<column>
<columnHeader>
</columnHeader>
<contents>
<messageChoice model="${bindings.current.Remarque3}">
<contents childData="${bindings.Remarque3.displayData}">
<option model="${uix.current}"/>
</contents>
</messageChoice>
</contents>
</column>
Here the result:
The answer is matching only the first question.
How could I correct that?
In addition, I would like to have all the recordings on a page. I would like that the table does not use a navigationBar. I have each time between ten and tewnty questions to post and I don't want that the user must change pages to see the last questions. How can I do that?

Thanks a lot !

  • ADF UIX Messagechoice element with databinding in Search Page

    How can we use the Messagechoice element with databinding in a ADF UIX search page? The Messagechoice element needs both target and destination dataSources and returns the selectedIndex (0,1,2,3....) and not the actual value. Is there a way of retrieving the actual value from the dropdown Messagechoice list in a search page without using the selectedIndex?

    Arvind -
    You can use databinding by using the "childData" attribute in the contents tag. This will stamp out the data bound to childData as the options in the message choice. For example,
    <messageChoice name="myChoice" prompt="Choose a Language">
    <contents childData="${uix.data.data1.lang}">
    <option text="${uix.current.text}"/>
    </contents>
    </messageChoice>

  • ADF UIX table example: oracle.cabo.doc.* missing

    Hi,
    I'm working through the Oracle ADF UIX Developer's Guide and want to try the ADF UIX Table Example. Unfortunately I don't seem to have the classes which are referred to in that example (located in oracle.cabo.doc.demo.table..), which makes it difficult for me to follow and understand the example.
    I've found a reply to a post to this forum of 26-nov-2002 where it is stated that these files were at that moment not yet available.
    My question is: have these files become available in the meantime. If so, wher can I find them?
    Regards,
    Anton

    Clicking on a sortable header generates a sort event. You need to specify a handler for this event. The error you see is a result of the application not knowing how to handle the sort event. On your page you should include something like the following to handle the sort event:
    <handlers>
    <event name="sort">
    <method class="myPackage.myClass" method="doMySort"/>
    </event>
    </handlers>
    For more details, see the "Sortable Column Headers" section in this chapter of the ADF UIX Dev Guide: http://helponline.oracle.com/jdeveloper/help/state/content/navSetId.jdeveloper/navId.4/vtAnchor.Sort/vtTopicFile.jdeveloper%7Cuixhelp%7Cuixdevguide%7Ctables%7Ehtml/

  • Searching using a combination of MessageChoice & TextInput in ADF UIX  Page

    Hello,
    I'm trying to create a page in ADF UIX which implements search operation using a combination of "Message Choice" & "Text Input". I refered to the OTN How to's Document for "Building a list of Values (LOV) with ADF UIX". It's been mentioned in the document to create an LovInput component & when you do that an UIX page LovWindow0.uix is created by default along with two handler's "LovFilter" and "LovSelect".
    when I try to implement this concept in the simple UIX page with out creating a LOV Input field.... i.e; I tried to implement this concept by just using the List of values component.... I'm not able to associate a handler to the go button present in the default list of files component.
    Consider the scenario where I'm using the Departments View.. In the list I'm displaying the filter Choice & in the Text Input specifying the where condition...
    Can anyone please help me out on this...I'm new to this concept...
    Thanks & Regards,
    Arun

    Hi Sam,
    i think this link should have part of ur solution.
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/jdev/tips/shmeltzer/setwhereclause/uix.html
    There you need to make slight modifications to the codes so as to suite ur scenario of search(having a message choice to choose filter and a textinput for the search value)
    The new method that you add by reading the page can be modified.
    Origional method mentioned is
    public void setCondition (String p_cond)
    ViewObject empvo = findViewObject("EmployeesView1");
         //Creating a Where clause for the query
    String whereclause = "LAST_NAME like '%"+ p_cond +"%'";
    empvo.setWhereClause(whereclause);
    empvo.executeQuery();
    replace this with the new method
    public void setCondition (String p_filter,String p_value)
    ViewObject empvo = findViewObject("EmployeesView1");
         //Creating a Where clause for the query
    String whereclause = p_filter+" = "+p_value ;
    empvo.setWhereClause(whereclause);
    empvo.executeQuery();
    But if u have a filter which is suppposed to be charechter field den the code should be
    public final void setMoreConditions(String p_field, String p_value)
    ViewObject empvo = findViewObject("EmployeesView1");
    if (p_field.equalsIgnoreCase("last_name")||p_field.equalsIgnoreCase("first_name"))
    String whereclause = p_field+" LIKE '%"+p_value+"%'";
    empvo.setWhereClause(whereclause);
    else
    if (p_field.equalsIgnoreCase("manager_id")||p_field.equalsIgnoreCase("department_id") )
    String whereclause = p_field+" = '"+p_value+"'";
    empvo.setWhereClause(whereclause);
    else
    String whereclause = "";
    empvo.setWhereClause(whereclause);
    empvo.executeQuery();
    In the above code include all the charechter field names in the first if condition.
    I think that should solve ur purpose.
    Try it and let me know if ur having any problems.

    Vineet

  • Storing Images in Database using ADF/UIX

    Hello,
    Please let me know of any exmaples or tutorials on how to use Oracle Intermedia to store Images in Database and retrieve the images and display them on UIX.
    I tried using declarative approach of using ADF input form for the table which contains a blob column.
    In the entity object, i changed the blob column type to OrDImageDomain. I changed the Form settings to POST and UsesFileUpload attribute to True.
    I got an error "Incompatible Types" when trying to insert a row in the database table.
    Please provide suggestions/comments
    Thanks a lot.

    Now I'm using OrdFileUploadManager and i'm getting an error message as,
    VB_Pbefore (The system cannot find the file specified. )
    Pbefore is the attribute name of the view object.
    The form that i'm using to insert the row in the database is,

  • [ADF-UIX] passing selected items to a custom method, how?

    Hi,
    ADF-UIX can be tricky, and im stuck atm building some functionality, I hope
    someone here can point me in a good direction
    I have a multipleSelection table filled with data from a ViewObject. I also
    have 2 MessageChoice components also filled with data from 2 ViewObjects.
    I made a custom method in my AppMod accepting 3 params and dragged that method
    on to a DataAction. And I have a submit button calling the DataAction.
    Now comes the tricky part, how can I pass the selected rows (radiobuttons) and
    the selected items from my MessageChoices to my custom method.
    I know I have to change something in paramNames[0].value but what exactly, specialy
    the multiselect from my table.
    Thanks in advance for any tips :)

    "what's the application module"
    JDev 10.1.3 leverages an Application Development Framework (ADF) that you can learn about here: http://download-east.oracle.com/docs/pdf/B25947_01.pdf
    Specifically, you'll want to look at chapters 2, 4, & 8 in the developer's guide to understand the framework and to understand how to use application modules to call service methods from a JSF page. You can also search this forum as there are other threads discussing this topic, but I'd recommend reviewing the developer guide first.
    This article I also found helpful:
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/jdev/tips/muench/mostcommon/index.html
    From my (short) experience, I've learned that you can call methods either using a bean or service methods on the Application Module. Since I am using ADF Business Components (BC), I try to implement any methods that interact with the BC's (view objects, etc.) as service methods on the Application Module (AM). If my method needs to purely implement logic related to the UI or Navigation, then I implement a method on a bean. The other case where I implement a method on a bean is if I need to do some pre-processing (i.e., gather info. about the state of the UI) prior to calling a service method on the AM (an example of this can be found in the dev guide related to the tableSelectMany component) - so there are some cases where the bean method will call a method on the AM - but again, if the method will update the model I try to use a method on the AM to accomplish this. Understanding the ADF framework is the first step (see the dev guide), and then I'd recommend looking at the SRDemo and previous posts on this forum.
    Finally, one thing that is really cool - if you define a service method on your AM, it shows up in the data control pallette - you can drag and drop the method on the .jspx page and all of the bindings/wiring is done automatically for you (including handling passing of parameters.)
    hope this helps.

    One immediate thing: "EA6" is in the tag library namespaces, but you're using EA12.
    In general, there've been a lot of changes between EA6 and EA12, but the changed namespace is one simple thing.

  • Display CLOB value in multiple rows in ADF UIX

    Hi,
    I have an ADF UIX application that uses data that are stored in a CLOB column in an Oracle Database.
    The table data is presented in a simple table in page1.uix, I use BC4J for accessing the Database and Oracle JDeveloper 9.0.5.2.
    The problem is that the CLOB data appear properly (meaning the rows appear OK) only in a frame (messageTextInput element) of a predefined size and if I change the element into a styledText or a formattedText the frame will not appear, but all the CLOB characters appear in a single row.
    Does anyone know how I can present the CLOB text data in a UIX page, without having a frame around the text, and at the same time keep the CLOB text in multiple rows?

    There's no completely trivial way. You'd have to do a bit of extra processing of your CLOB data. The most straightforward work to do is to convert "\n" into "<br>", and then pass that into a <formattedText>.

  • ADF UIX doSelect override with PL/SQL fails to allow insert

    I've been trying to create an ADF-UIX web app for simple insert/update/delete of records to a table.
    The schema simply has 2 tables - master and detail where the detail pk is made up of the master id and a start date:
    CREATE TABLE master (
    id NUMBER NOT NULL,
    name VARCHAR2 (10) NOT NULL,
    CONSTRAINT pk_master
    PRIMARY KEY ( id ));
    CREATE TABLE detail (
    id NUMBER NOT NULL,
    start_date DATE NOT NULL,
    name VARCHAR2 (10) NOT NULL,
    description VARCHAR2 (100),
    CONSTRAINT pk_detail
    PRIMARY KEY ( id, start_date ));
    ALTER TABLE detail ADD CONSTRAINT d_m_fk FOREIGN KEY (id) REFERENCES master(id)
    This works fine when I create it in a similar manner to that described in the "Complete ADF UIX Application ..." tutorial doc.
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/jdev/collateral/tutorials/9050/adfuix_tut.html
    I then tried to override the ADF doSelect and doDML methods as outlined in ADF_BC_StoredProcedures.zip example app allowing me to use PL/SQL stored pkg for dml.
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/sample_code/products/jdev/10g/ADF_BC_StoredProcedures.zip
    On trying to insert a new row my web app now fails with a null pointer exception when I press the Submit button. The app calls doSelect->handleStoredProcSelect which fails to get the value of a column.
    void handleStoredProcSelect() {
    CallableStatement st = null;
    try {
    String stmt = "BEGIN test_api.do_select(?,?,?,?,?); END;";
    DBTransaction tr = getDBTransaction();
    st = tr.createCallableStatement(stmt,1);
    ## This line works, I'm guessing because the value is populated from the master record I've selected in the form ...
    st.setLong(1,getTestId().longValue());
    ##FAILS HERE st.setDate(2,getStartDate().dateValue());
    Update,delete still work ok. And if I run the test app (right click on AppModule and select Test) all works ok.
    I'm not sure why doSelect is called on an insert so I commented out:
    doSelect
    handleStoredProcSelect
    handleStoredProcLock
    compareOldAttrTo
    Web App now lets me insert as expected.
    So finally ....my question is:
    Whilst the app now works does commenting out the doSelect leave me open to problems I haven't thought off
    and if not if you did want to use it how can you allow inserts?
    Any thoughts or similar experiences appreciated ...

  • Populate Primary Key with DBSequence in ADF UIX page

    I have a table with a trigger, so that the primary key is populated by DBSequence. My problem is, I open a ADF UIX Input Page to create a row for my table. The field of the primary key is populated by any number but not with the logical sequence number. This number appears later, when I look at a row list. So the correct number is in the database but how can this already appear on my input page???

    You have to drop the trigger.
    Then make sure you have the Id field of your entity of type Sequence.
    Then go to your entity class and override the Create method.
      protected void create(AttributeList attributeList)
        super.create(attributeList);
        SequenceImpl s = new SequenceImpl("YOUR_DB_SEQUENCE_NAME", getDBTransaction());
        Number sVal = s.getSequenceNumber();
        setId(new DBSequence(sVal));

  • ADF UIX Search Form - Is this a bug?

    I created a JDev 9.0.5.2 ADF UIX Search form from the component palette. I ran the page without making any changes. I chose the Find button which displayed the search criteria. I selected the delete button and then the create button, which created 2 blank records (possible bug?) in the search criteria table at the top. I selected one of the blank records and entered search criteria. I chose the submit button which changed the data in the search criteria table as it is supposed to do. I selected the other blank record, entered search criteria and submitted it. Again the data in the search criteria table was changed appropriately. I selected the delete button and the wrong record was deleted (bug?).
    Are these bugs?

    Hello,
    a similar sort of situation is created if you have a Read-only table on a page which drills down to an edit/create input form page. If you enable a create functionality you need to enable some way for the user to back out of the created record and clean up the newly created row. On the detail page (JobsEdit.do) i created a link to a custom event on the master page action (JobsView.do) like this:
    <button text="Cancel" destination="JobsView.do?event=cancelinput"/> In the Data Action class for the JobsView page i have a method defined as follows:
    public void onCancelinput(DataActionContext ctx)
        Row row = ctx.getBindingContainer().getApplicationModule().findViewObject("JobsView1").getCurrentRow();
        row.refresh(row.REFRESH_REMOVE_NEW_ROWS );
    }as a workaround, it sounds like you may need put some manual controls in place to tightly control any newly created rows which have/will not been used. I don't know if this will resolve the deleting wrong record problem...

    Brenden

  • Deploy an  ADF-UIX project

    Hi all!
    I build a web application workspace, so I have a "model" project in witch I put some business components from tables. In ViewController project I use adf-uix. My problem is I can't deploy my work. How can I do this. I suppose that I should deploy first my "Model" project.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Luigi --
    You'll be better posting this to the specific JDeveloper forum. The people who know all about ADF are there and will be able to help you out.

  • ADF UIX programatic data binding

    Oracle ADF UIX Developer's Guide mentions the possibility to use the UIX framework in Java, to create new objects or alter the existing ones.
    E.g. we can create a table using a construct like:
    TableLayoutBean tlb = new TableLayoutBean();
    The same document demonstrates the data binding:
    BoundValue rows = new DataBoundValue(_YOUR_NAMESPACE, YOURNAME, "rows");
    tlb.setIndexedNodeList(new DataObjectListNodeList(rows));
    For "simple" attributes using DataObject DataObjectList, etc. the procedure is clear. But what about creating a data bound table or input text:
    <table model="${bindings.EmpView1}" ... >
    <messageTextInput model="${bindings.DeptCode}"/>
    It’s easy to understand that model="${bindings.EmpView1}" or model="${bindings.DeptCode}" are equivalent to multiple attribute bindings (data, validation, read-only, etc.), but it looks that the classes/methods resolving these equivalences and linking the bean to the corresponding DCControlBinding, are not public (or maybe I was not able to find them).
    How can we obtain programmatically, in Java, the same structure as described above (in XML)? The best would be to use the same classes used when the UIX XML document is parsed to create the page description.
    It would be very nice to be able to use a structure like
    tbl.setModel( new JUCtrlRangeBinding(...) );
    txt.setModel( new JUCtrlValueBinding(...) );
    or maybe
    txt.setAttribute( "model", new TextInputModelBoundValue(...) ) etc.
    In JSF we can do something like:
    ValueBinding vb = application.createValueBinding(value);
    component.setValueBinding(attributeName, vb);
    Can we do something similar in UIX?
    Any help will be appreciated,
    thanks,

    Since the code is already written, it's a pity that we can't use/extend it. I don't like to say it (sorry) but I find this design choice (implement the "model" only into the XML parsing layer) a little bit strange (or maybe I don't understand... ;-) ). We should (or we are supposed to) be able to do in java everything that we can do in XML.
    I would like to find more support/help for the programmatic approach. I have the feeling that you are too focalised on "use-our-state-of-the-art-tools/wizards-to-write-the-code-for-you" and you forgot that this is not suitable for all projects. E.g. our application creates the user interface according to a layout defined by each user. To generate it, we need to use at maximum the extension mechanism and we can't simply relay on "rendered" attribute etc.
    -When should we expect this new UIX release?
    -What about the UIX controller? The Struts controller will replace it?
    -What about the source code of uixexp2-demo.jar (distributed with ADF_UIX_component_guide)?
    -Why while debugging we can't set a method/class breakpoint on UIX classes (to understand the data flow) - the stack is secret?
    Thanks
