Adjust Accumulated depn

Hi,
I have some assets whose depn key is set as an automatic and % calculated based on the useful life. Initailly we have the depn calculated after deducting the scrap value.
Later we change it not to consider scrap value deduction (from this year).
New need to adjust the accumulated depn such that the depn calculated for the past years should be adjust as per the present setting.
one option is to adjust it at the end of the uesful life manually, but we dont want to do that..
can you tell me if there are any option of adjusting at the accumuation depn automatically at the end of the useful life
or
any other option of doing it in the current period.
Thx in advance.

Hello
Unplanned depreciation is one option.

  • Fixed Asset: Current Year Depreciation

    Dear Experts,
Previously, fixed assets was managed manually in an excel sheet and depreciation was calculated manually in the excel sheet.
My client wants to start using the FA Addon in March. I managed to import all the fixed asset master data with its Cost, Acc. Depn and NBV. They all tally with the GL balances as at 31.12.2010 which is the last day of the accounting year.
However, I have problem with the current year accumulated depn figure. When I run depreciation for Jan-Feb, the figure does not tally with the GL balances as at 28.02.2011.
    For example:
    Fixed Asset Cost: $5,859.00
    In SAP B1
    Depreciation method: Straight-line depreciation
Calculation medthod: Percentage of Acquisition Value
    Percentage: 33.33%
Planned monthly depreciation: $162.77  <-- Not sure how B1 get this figure
Therefore, accumulated depreciation for current year as at 28.02.2011 = $325.54
    Manual via Excel
    Depreciation method: Straight-line depreciation
Calculation medthod: Percentage of Acquisition Value
    Percentage: 33.33%
    Accumulated depreciation for current year as at 28.02.2011=  ($5,859 x 33.33%) / 12 x 2 = $325.47
How do I get the current year depreciation to tie with the GL?

    Hi Joyce,
I understand the issue you are facing is that
accumulated depreciation for current year as at 28.02.2011(calculated by Fixed assets addon) = $325.54,
    but
    accumulated depreciation for current year as at 28.02.2011(calculated by excel)= ($5,859 x 33.33%) / 12 x 2 = $325.47
you want to know how system calculate the accumulated depreciation as $325.54?
in order to make it clear,
please let me know how did you define the FA master data, such as the net book value, useful life, remaing life and so on.
Please check the FA master data->general tab and calculation tab,as it is not possible to attach the screenshot to show the relevant data, please log a SAP message for the further assistance.
    Kind regards,

  • Error in report S_ALR_87011964 [Asset Balances]

    Hi,
I am facing an issue with asset balance report generated through S_ALR_87011964.
    Issue details
    Asset Value - 10,000 US$
    Life - 10 Yrs
    Method - Straight line method
    Date of purchase - 01.01.2008
    Depn per annum - 1,000 US$
While i run the report as on 31-Dec-2008 Accumulated balance generated through S_ALR_87011964 and GL account balance report from FBL3N is matching perfectly. US$ 1000 in both the reports.
But when i run the report S_ALR_87011964 and FBL3N amount captured in S_ALR_87011964  is half of the Amount posted in GL accounts
    Accumulated Depn posted(report through FBL3N all the relevant GL accounts are included)as on 31-3-2009 = US$ 1,300 US$ 1000+300(as on 31st Dec 08 + depn till march 2009)
    Where as accumulated depn as per S_ALR_87011964 report = US$ 1,150. US$ 1000+150(as on 31st Dec 08 + depn till march 2009).
Planned depn as per AW01N is US$ 100 Per month.
How can i solve this issue,

When you click on the button All selections select then the option current book value.
The report is a simulation in the most cases the values are the same but with some depreciation keys not.
When it is for a periodical postings depreciation area do then first the periodical posting run
    ASKB - APC Values Posting

  • How to change in cost center?

    Can some body please explain:
How to change the depreciation expenditure charged from one cost center to another? Since the depreciation has been posted for the 2 months that have been closed, is it possible still to repost line items?
To change the cost center thru KB61, is accounting document necessary?

    thanks for your reply!
Actually the cost center is being changed from Aug onwards ,so the Depn posted to the old cost center for July needs to be reposted to the new cost center using KB61 taking the reference of accounting doc from KSB1 for the old cost center.
But when i am using KB61 to repost the depn , system gives the error message " Transaction Repost CO Line item has been locked"
ie July period is already closed.
I do not have the authority to open the closed periods and repost. Is there is any other way?
Also, once the reposting is done, Cost center can be changed for the assets thru AS02 so that system automatically posts the accumulated depn to the new cost center

  • IS THERE ANY PROCESS IN ASSET REVALUATION

    hi sap guru's,
we are facing a problem for ex
we purchased a asset in 2003 for value 1cr 80lck. but the same value entered in the books is 2cr. Now we want to reduce the price of that asset in our books. Is there any process to do the revaluation.
Kindly suggest me how to reduce the value and give me the steps or any document.related to it.
it's very urgent please help us.

    Hi,
If there is only one asset which has problem, you may think of following transaction.
    ABAW - Balance Sheet Revalation
You need to work out following for ABAW transaction.
    1)  Amount to be reduce for Acquisition Cost.
    2)  Do you want to adjust Acc Depn till previous year as well .. Work out the value of acc depn.
    3)  Default Trans Type is 800 which debits the asset i.e. revalues Asset to higher value. If you have to credit the asset i.e. reduce asset value, use Trans Type which credit.
    Check following in the customizing:
IMG : Fin Acct --> Asset Acct --> Special Valuation --> Define Transaction Type for Revaluation.
    1) Select T type 800.  It is configured for Debit Posting.  Check other T Type which are configured for credit posting for revaluation.
    2) Check which depreciation area, revaluation to be posted.  Add the depreciation areas for this tranaction type posting.
Hope this helps.  If helpful, pls. assign points.

  • *Depreciation reversal with conversion in Parallel Currency Dep Area*

When we creat depreciation run in version 4.6c (RABUCH00) the program performs a batch session and post depreciation entry in Company Code currency -in our case-(GBP) and parallel currency (USD) as, entry should be
posting key GL A/c                        GBP USD
    75              Accumulated Depn A/c   76GBP    38USD
    40              Depreciation Exp A/c      -76GBP   -38USD
entry is posted in other depreciation area (which is opted for posting) in dep area currency USD.
We are observing a issue where the entry for a particular
    asset is actually posted as
posting key GL A/c                        GBP USD
    70              Accumulated Depn A/c   76GBP     1USD
    75              Accumulated Depn A/c  -38GBP   -1USD
    50              Depreciation Exp A/c     -76GBP   -1USD
    40              Depreciation Exp A/c      38GBP     1USD
    hence my query is
    1. Why for a particular asset amounts are getting reversed.
    2. Why these amounts are not converted in parallel currencies when we change GL layout of parallel currency.
SAP OSS Note No. 0000733192 RABUCH00 and parallel currencies with value 0 has relevant documentation on this topic but it fails to explain why this happens in particular asset. Can you provide any explanation ? Thanks.

    Hi Hui Bin Liu,
    How did you solve this?
I have that same issue right now and can't figure how to solve it.

  • Depreciation area not posted

I have one requirement for my new depreciation area 93, the depreciation area 93 will take same value as depreciation area 01,
    but using different depreciation key
my detailed requirement is :(1) any asset disposal only post to depreciation area 01 but not 93, how to configure this?
(2). depreciation area 93 need to run monthly depreciation area, we create accumlated depreciation account and Acquisition account for each asset class in depreciation area 93, but these accounts master are not defined  as reconcillation account-asset
is it a issue when we run afab for depreciation area 20
(3), when we run askbn, it doesn't adjust accumulated depreciation in depreciation area 93, should we use fb01 to upload accumulated depreciation for depreciation area 93?

    Hi,
    1) Use a limited transaction type.
    2) Should be tested
    3)   When opening of new depreciation area via  RAFABNEW you have the following flags:
    a.     Indicator: Leave values initial = not ticked.
Do not set this indicator if you want the system
to copy the values from depreciation area 01.
                                                                                    b.     Indicator: Leave values initial = ticked.
Set this indicator if you want to open the newly created
depreciation area without any values i.e. blank.

  • Ajust depreciation in specific books

Need help with accumulated depreciation problem on two dep books.  I am not assets expert but trying to learn.  I have searched for solution but unable to find post on point.
This problem is on a group asset and has been happening since 2007.  Book 32 takes value from book 01.  Book 01 and book 32 agree on APC but not on depreciation.  The differences resulted from logic errors in user exit code used to create the group assets.  The user exit code did not properly assign group managed settings to book 32 on all individual assets assigned to the group.  Result is that book 32 depreciation did not calculate properly.  We now have difference in accumulated depreciation between book 01 and 32.
How can we adjust accumulated depreciation on book 32 only to make it equal book 01 and also adjust planned depreciation on book 32 so that planned depreciation (and future depr postings) will be in sync with book 01?  Like I said, I am not assets expert.  So please forgive me if I ask dumb question or use wrong words.  Trying to learn as quickly as I can but need to resolve this problem quickly.
    Kind regards,
    Steve

    Hi Blaz,
Thank you.  Note 50761 was helpful and points were awarded.  So how might I post adjustment just to book 32?  Would I create "Z" transaction types that look like 600/610 and limit posting to specific depr books?  I want to post adjustment as current period transaction as opening prior closed periods is not an option.
    Kind regards,
    Steve

  • Asset accounitng Configuration

    Hello,
Can anyone send me full document on asset account configuration.
Thanks for your help and support
    Best Regards
    Jyoti

    Hi,
This article presents a very basic bare-bones asset accounting setup. It assumes familiarity with SAP configuration terms and concepts.
Setup company codes to be used for asset accounting.
    1. Copy chart of depreciation. [Transaction EC08]
    2. Set default tax codes for non-taxable transactions which require tax code. (Impt., errors often rise because this step is omitted)
    3. Setup asset classes.
    4. Set no posting to G/L for all classes except book depreciation (this is the typical setting)
    5. Enable posting of unplanned depreciation and any other special postings (e.g. revaluation)
    6. De-activate depreciation areas not required
    7. Setup account assignments for all the asset classes. Note that the minimum accounts required are a balance sheet account for asset cost, for accumulated depreciation, and a P&L account for asset depreciation expense. [Transaction AO90]. Additional accounts that will be required are the gain/loss on sale and asset scrapping accounts. Note that more than 1 asset class can share the same account assignment.
    8. Assign how depreciation posts to cost centers [Transaction OAYR]
    9. Assign asset balance sheet A/Cs to profit centers if required [Transaction 3KEH]
    10. Allow revaluation postings for selected company codes with revaluation [Transaction OAYR]
    11. Run program RACHECK1 to eliminate inconsistencies between company code and asset management account data
    12. Set document types for postings: (setting for transaction types). Suggested document types below:
AA Asset acquisition AS Asset disposal AT Asset transfer AX Asset reversal AF Asset depreciation [Transactions A071, OBA7]
    13. Specify transfer of APC values [Transaction OABC]
    14. Specify rounding of figures for net book value to nearest whole dollar [OAYO], table T093B
    15. Setup depreciation keys as necessary: [Transactions AFAMA]
0000 No depreciation and no interest SLFD Str.line frm acq.value to 0 w/o int. frm start day
-Base method 11: Ordinary straight line using % from life to end of life
SLFM Str.line frm acq.value to 0 w/o int. frm start mth
-Base method 11: Ordinary straight line using % from life to end of life
    16. Switch on only the required depreciation areas [Transaction OAYZ]
    - Enter default depreciation keys for these 2 asset classes
    17. Setup asset number ranges in production client [Transaction AS08]
Additionally, specify company independent number ranges that refer to a base company if necessary [Transaction AO11]
    18. Check FI document number ranges for asset postings
    19. Check that all asset G/L accounts have tax code and account groups correctly setup
    20. Define screen layouts for each asset class as per user requirements
    21. Set inter-co transfer methods (Maintain view [V_T093A_05])
Indicator: Transfer with historical values This indicator controls how the system treats transfers between affiliated companies. If this indicator is set, transfers in this depreciation area are not identified as acquisitions or retirements. Instead they are identified as transfers (particularly in the asset history sheet). In addition, posting of the transfer is gross (that is, with historical acquisition costs and depreciation).
    Note:
This indicator has the affect described above only if it is used in combination with these two indicators in the definition of the transaction type: ‘post to affiliated company’ ‘gross’ Maintain view [V_T082I_01] for inter-company transfer settings
Optional-Revaluation Setup (Under special valuation section os AA IMG)
    22. Set revaluation of cost and accumulated depn for all areas [OABW]
    23. Define revaluation measures. (key, description, depreciation areas and posting data).
    24. Specify G/L accounts for revaluation of asset acquisiton cost
    25. Maintain transaction types for asset revaluation postings if necessary
    Reward Points if found helpfull..
    Cheers,
    Chandra Sekhar.

  • ABST2 (Small Differences)

    Hi Group
I have got small differences in ABST2 (FI-AA reconciliation) for two of Accumulated Depn. Accounts
These differences are in Local Currency.
My question is how do I find out from where these differences arrived. Which asset or transaction made this deviation between FI-AA.
    Best regards,

Please explain if this differences which you get information from SAP can occur when the process is finish (all GR and IR posted) or in progress as well?

  • Monthly Depreciation Adjustment

    Hi,
I had posted a thread earlier regarding Depreciation adjustment Adjustment of Unplanned Depreciation in future periods.
I have posted accelerated depreciation for FY 2013. Now starting from FY 2014, I have run the Depreciation for all assets including the asset for which accelerated depreciation is posted.
I am trying to post a Journal Entry to reduce the depreciation charged against the asset by posting
    40 (Posting Key)-----Accumulated Depreciation -----Dr
    50 (Posting Key)-----Depreciation A/C -------------------Cr.
But manual entry is not affecting the asset net value which should be increased after posting this journal entry.
Also, I am trying to post Asset Write-Up through ABZU after depreciation run, but I am seeing that the system is charging additional Depreciation instead of decreasing the Depreciation amount.
Kindly suggest how to overcome this situation.

    nabin,
"Iam trying to post a Journal Entry to reduce the depreciation charged against the asset by posting"
         - You are posting journal entry, this means that you want to adjust the GL as the posting is not correct. So I guess the asset values are correct but not matching in the GL accounts that is why you are posting journal entry?
"But manual entry is not affecting the asset net value which should be increased after posting this journal entry"
         - Manual entry only affects the ledger and not the asset. If you want your posting refelect as well in the asset, post an asset transaction.
You need to clarify the problem:
    1. Why are you posting entries on GL?
    2. Are you posting entries on GL only or both GL and asset?
    3. Are GL and asset balances tally?
    4. Is your asset balance correct?
    Thanks!

  • Does anyone had done mass adjustment on Asset Cost to the Asset's NBV?

    Hi,
I want to see if any one had done Asset Cost Revaluation due to acquisition; to Compliance with GAAP accounting rules related to the acquisition of our company. We want to adjust all our Asset Cost to their current NBV and adjust the current Accumulated Depreciation to $0. Then Assets will be depreciated begining on the acquisition date of the company using the existing depreciation useful lives, not the remaining useful life. All the other depreciation conventions and methods will not be changed.
I can't use the AM Mass Revaluation process as it can only adjust cost by amount or percent. We don't want to do an IUT to the same BU with action of ADD as we don't want to generate any new asset id. Any advice or suggestion will be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Ali

    Doug,
I had already started along that path, by removing the Microsoft mouse driver (which didn't fix the problem). However, starting the system in safe mode was a good baseline, as it went to sleep as it should - confirming a software-related issue.
I figured it would actually be easiest to shoot this bug by starting from scratch with an erase and install. After each tweak (ie, turn firewall on), software add (ie, clamXav), or update to the system, I tested it's sleep ability. And I found the bug/issue.....checking 'enable firewall logging' under the advanced options on the firewall tab, in the sharing preferences pane. No kidding. Stealth mode and UDP can be checked, just not firewall logging. Dunno why, however, the world is now at peace, able to sleep as needed.

  • Adjustment of advance payment after adjusting AUC with Main Asset

    HI,
My client is running KO88 without adjusting advance payment for Asset Purchase (AUC). Now this has led to accumulated advance payment with a huge amount. The purchase has taken place for more than 3 years.
Kindly suggest, what is the correct step for adjusting down payment when we do purchase of assets through MM route.
example: Please correct me if I am wrong.
Step 1: Asset PO- ME21N with Internal Order and Acct Assignment category as A
    Step 2: Advance Payment- F-47, F-48
    Step 2: GRN- MIGO
    Step 3: MIRO
    Step 4: F-54
    Step 5: KO88
Finally, how do we correct these old advance payments which are not adjusted yet and the KO88 is run. Ajay Maheshwari SAP Trainer

So, what u r suggesting is, no need to reverse the Old AUC settlement in KO88. We can clear the old advances in F-54 and then execute KO88 which means- Re-execute KO88 after advance clearance.
The issue here is, all the old advances have accumulated since, 2011. Now, how to work?
Please advice Ajay Maheshwari SAP Trainer, Mukthar Ali Ahamed N.

  • PXI-5610 RF Frequency Response adjustment

    Hello,
I have noticed that adjustment for 5610 in RF frequency response is taking long time (about 2-3hr) with Cal exec 3.5, and I have tried to get the PXI chassis in a good enviroment and with some extra fans around since the adjustment has the legend "RF Freq. Response accumulated Meas. (Normalized to 45°C)
I am wondering if the enviroment has some important point here or it needs some update in a particular application inside Cal Executive 3.5?
I also have this question, Win7 has some advantage over WinXP in this particular or general adjustment?.
    Br,
    Omar

    Hello Omar_Rdz,
Thanks for using NI forums! Calibration Executive usually takes a considerable amount of time for some of the PXI modules. By reviewing the Cal Exec manual it says that for the 5610 module it could take up to 240 mins (around 4 hrs). But definitely the temperature is a factor that can affect the performance not only of the calibration procedure but the whole system. Have you tried to execute the calibration when the controller and the chassis are cold? Also try to avoid dust accumulation in both the modules and the chassis because these can impact on the general performance of the system.
Answering your question regarding the OS, Win7 has a better performance compared to WinXP but it will also depend on what type of controller you are using. In order to give you a better answer, could you please tell me what controller and chassis are you using?
