ADM template for Reader X
Morning all,
Does Adobe have an approved ADM template for Adobe Reader 10 that can be downloaded and used in a GPO?
As far as I can see, end users like you and me are creating their own and using it "at our own risk"!
Is Adobe not big enough of a company to provide an official ADM template?
We are suggested to use a template to control all these new security features but no official templates are provided!
Just saying!
AFAIK adobe never offers adm-tempates (or I'm to stupid to find them up to now )
Since today I always had used the adm-templates from www.gruppenrichtlinien.de, but these templates only in german. I'm waiting for an update, cause theis templates only for v6 - v9 of adobe reader.
... sorry for my bad english!

ADM template for office and AD - Group policy
Hi,
I need to enforce English (UK) as the editing language in office application (2010 & 2013).
I have downloaded the ADM template saved it on C drive on the AD server.
Then I loaded the ADM template for office to a GOP which I created on test basis and added an AD user to it.
On the template I enabled the setting for primary editing language as English (UK) .
on the client side , when I open an office application eg outlook or word, I can still see English (US) as the set language.
what am I doing wrong ?
also how do I use the ADMX template ? because when from the GPO editor I try to browse add the its template the window show blank.Hi,
From Windows 2008 R2, the current version of Administrative Template files are ADMX files. The GPMC displays these settings under the Administrative Templates node.
However, the GPMC still recognizes ADM files and displays these settings under the Classic Administrative Templates node, which is a child node to Administrative Templates .
Checkout the below link on installing ADM files,
Add or Remove Classic Administrative Templates
Checkout the below on adding the Office 2010 ADMX files in to GPMC,
Adding the admx files from Office 2010 admin templates into your GPMC

ADM GPO templates for Reader XI are incomplete and misleading
We've just migrated to Reader XI, and I was hoping to switch configuring the registry settings to the new official Adobe Reader XI ADM templates. However, they are very incomplete. For example, the following registry setting are missing:
HKLM\SOFTWARE\Policies\Adobe\Acrobat Reader\11.0\FeatureLockdown
iProtectedView
bUSEWhitelistConfigFile
bEnhancedSecurityInBrowser
bEnhancedSecurityStandalone
bDisableTrustedSites
bDisableTrustedFolders
bDisableOSTrustedSites
Also, the description of many settings are misleading. A good example is "Disable automatic updates" which reads:
Disables automatic updates and removes associated user interface items.
0: Disable and lock the Updater.
1: No effect.
Setting bUpdater disables the user interface items Preferences > Updater and Help > Check for updates are disabled.
This seems logical, however to get a "0" to be set you have to set this GPO to Disabled. So you "Disable" the "Disable automatic updates" GPO. That feels like you are enabling it. Very confusing.
I welcome the release of the official ADM templates, but it looks like a rush job and that benefits noone.Hi,
Thanks for your feedback again. I am not sure if you have noticed that the article you provided has been updated.
As the updated article states in the Addendum section:
Based on customer feedback, we have decided to wait thirty days before blocking any out-of-date ActiveX controls. Customers can use the new logging feature to assess ActiveX controls in their environment and deploy Group Policies to enforce blocking,
turn off blocking ActiveX controls for specific domains, or turn off the feature entirely depending on their needs. The feature and related Group Policies will still be available on August 12, but no out-of-date ActiveX controls will be blocked until Tuesday,
September 9th. Microsoft will continue to create a more secure browser, and we encourage all customers to upgrade and stay up-to-date with the latest Internet Explorer and updates.

ADM templates for office 2003 on Windows server 2012
Hi Guys,
i am planing to upgrade from server 2003 to server 2012 but we will still be using office 2003.
Can i install office 2003 adm templates on server 2012?
Many thanks for your help
Theoyes, the template can still be installed in the policy store or on a computer running gpmc and added in on 2012.
they will process fine
although on a side note I think office 2003 is out of support - or due to be - so you might want to look at upgrading that too in the near future.

Ok, this is a bit off topic, but let me put this up:
1. On a windows 7 with the latest Java, I am accessing a Java page
http://nlvm.usu.edu/en/nav/frames_asid_190_g_1_t_1.html
2. This page doesn't have a trusted certificate, as its an educational purpose one, anyway, I get the message :
"Your security settings have blocked an untrusted application from running."
3. Referring to : http://www.java.com/en/download/help/appsecuritydialogs.xml : I can as a Admnistrative user go in and goto Control Panel, Get to Java (32-bit) and open it up
Then I can go to Security and add the exception there.
My issue is with users who are non-administrators.
So I would like to know if anyone else has had a similar requirement where they had to do something in the Java Control Panel and used an ADM template, one they created or one available somewhere to configure it globally.

Ramu
Ramu V RamananHi,
try a web search.....
http://www.bing.com/search?q=admx files or java RT
you can write your own admix files for the Java RT settings or usually the software vendor offers a template for corporate users.
or you could use procmon.exe to monitor which registry keys are changed by the java RT security console.
Regards.

Re: Templates for Reader Users
How do you allow reader users priviledges to use templates. I have created a letterhead form with a button to add another page if desired using a template. When I go to test in reader it tells me it is not allowed.
Thanks....It is possible with Reader, but the PDF has to be given the appropriate usage right. Unfortunately, this is not one of the rights that Acrobat is able to grant, but Adobe's LiveCycle Reader Extensions product can. If that's not an option, you can use an enabling service offered by Form Router:http://www.formrouter.com/pdf/readerextensions.htm

Hello,
We are currently developing a KM/WebDynpro application in which we want to generate PDF files (one template) for reading/printing purpose only. Adobe Document Services seems to us a natural choice.
Do we need additional licenses in that case ?
Or would it be easier to use an open source solution like iText ?
Thanks a lot
Regards,
NicolasMarkus,
I am doing the tutorial "TutWD_DynamicForm", but I cannot get it to work. I always get the following exception :
com.sap.tc.webdynpro.pdfobject.core.PDFObjectRuntimeException: Service call exception; nested exception is:
java.net.SocketTimeoutException: Read timed out
at com.sap.tc.webdynpro.pdfobject.core.PDFObject.doSoapCall(PDFObject.java:280)
at com.sap.tc.webdynpro.pdfobject.core.PDFObject.createPDF(PDFObject.java:222)
I can pass the test of getting the version in http://<server>:<port>/AdobeDocumentServices/Config.
I cannot find the "interactive" property of the InteractiveForm UI element in the Web Dynpro application to set it to false. Maybe the problem is coming from there ? Do you have any idea on that ?
Thanks a lot.

How can I add a new Template to My Templates in Pages? I've read most of the discussions on the subject but it doesn't work for me. By the time I reach the Templates folder, I only see templates for Numbers and not for Pages. Need help, please. Thanks
Si vous avez utilisé la commande Save As Template depuis Pages, il y a forcément un dossier
iWork > Pages
contenant Templates > My Templates
comme il y a un dossier
iWork > Numbers
contenant Templates > My Templates

Adobe Reader 11.0 starter ADM templates wont work
I dowloaded the ADM from http://www.adobe.com/devnet-docs/acrobatetk/tools/AdminGuide/gpo.html and created a group policy . The group policy add registry entried in HKLM but when I launch reader they are not working:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Adobe\Acrobat Reader\11.0\FeatureLockDown\cIPM
bDontShowMsgWhenViewingDoc = 1
bShowMsgAtLaunch = 0
But if I go under HKCU the values are opposite:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Adobe\Acrobat Reader\11.0\IPM
bDontShowMsgWhenViewingDoc = 0
bShowMsgAtLaunch = 1
Per Adobe provided starter ADM template the registries changes under HKLM but it does not work.Hi fari23
The Registry value under HKLM should control the settings.. Please make sure you're creating the right key under cIPM

Administrative Template for AGPM
* 2008 R2 Domain Functionality -- PDC and FSMO role holders on Windows Server 2012
* 2012R2 for both Server and Client
* v4.02 that is appropriate to our infrastructure is what I'm trying to load up.
I'm at the step in the install where I need to configure a GPO to define the AGPM Server Connection for the domain.
I need to add the AGPM administrative template, and that's the issue.... I can't.
the local depots "PolicyDefinitions" and INF are both visually empty.... in the first depot I can wildcard *.* and see both the .admx and the .adml files, but trying to load either gives me a "...not a valid template file.
Only files with .adm... " error
I CAN see the .adm templates when I initially click on to add the template..... but that seems weird to me. I'd think it would be the other way around.
driving me nuts, but I can't find anything in TechNet, release notes, or other forums that this has happened to someone else or what a resolution or even just workaround would be.
Help!I am glad I am not the only one who is having this issue. Can anyone help? The MDOP ADMX extensions download does not have any settings for AGPM. I cannot configure email or the server connection.

Classic adm template display in gp report
We used server 2003 to configure the GPOs initially, and various adm templates were added including one for word 2007. After moving to server 2008, I've noticed inconsistent behaviour with displaying GP settings that are part of these templates.When viewing
the settings of the GPO, all the settings can be seen under "Administrative Templates".
However, if I run a GP results wizards, then most but not all of the settings come under "Extra registry settings". The adm files are all in the sysvol area for the GPO itself.Hi,
You could try to configure policy setting in Windows server 2008 domain controller and check if this policy setting will display correctly.
The setting should be:
User Configuration\Administrative Templates\Windows Components\Windows Media Player\Networking\configure HTTP Proxy
Besides, Group Policy tools will continue to recognize custom ADM files you have in your existing environment, but will ignore any ADM file that has been superseded
by ADMX files: System.adm, Inetres.adm, Conf.adm, Wmplayer.adm, and Wuau.adm. Therefore, if you have edited any of the these files to modify existing or create new policy settings, the modified or new settings will not be read or displayed by the Windows Vista–based
Group Policy tools.
For detail information, you can refer to the following link:
Managing Group Policy ADMX Files Step-by-Step Guide
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc709647(v=ws.10).aspx

I have removed some ADM templates from group policy but are still showing in RSOP
I removed some old custom ADM templates from group policy but they are still showing up when I run RSOP.MSC.
How do I get RSOP.msc not to show these old custom ADM templates? I'm not able to find what I'm looking for in my searches.Hi,
Even you remove these custom ADM templates, the policy settings configured by these custom ADM templates still exist. We can try to import these ADM templates again then un-configure
the policy settings set by these custom ADM templates. After refreshing the policy settings, we can delete the custom ADM templates.
Best Regards,
Erin
Thanks. That almost works. When I import a new updated template with a different name but with some of the same settings, the old template shows up again. -

Can no longer select text in email template or read only field with mouse using IE or Firefox?
Hi Guys,
I can no longer select text in email template or read only field using my mouse in IE or Firefox anymore. We are using CRM 2011 rollup 18 applied with IE 11 and the latest version of Firefox. We only applied roll up 18 in Feb when this issue began.
Thanks
Dave
David KellyWhen you have a problem with one particular site, a good "first thing to try" is clearing your Firefox cache and deleting your saved cookies for the site.
(1) Bypass Firefox's Cache
Use Ctrl+Shift+r to reload the page fresh from the server.
(You also can clear Firefox's cache completely using:
orange Firefox button ''or'' Tools menu > Options > Advanced
On the Network mini-tab > Cached Web Content : "Clear Now")
(2) Remove the site's cookies (save any pending work first) using either of these. While viewing a page on the site:
* right-click and choose View Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
* Alt+t (open the classic Tools menu) > Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
Then try reloading the page. Does that help?
These features rely on JavaScript, and it sounds as though you have scripting enabled if you get (the wrong) color changes. Some add-ons might alter the way scripts operate, so a standard diagnostic to bypass interference by extensions (and some custom settings) is to try Firefox's Safe Mode.
First, I recommend backing up your Firefox settings in case something goes wrong. See [[Backing up your information]]. (You can copy your entire Firefox profile folder somewhere outside of the Mozilla folder.)
Next, restart Firefox in Firefox's Safe Mode ([[Safe Mode]]) using
Help > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
In the dialog, click "Start in Safe Mode."
If those features work correctly, this points to one of your extensions or custom settings as the problem.
To also disable plugins, you can use this page:
orange Firefox button ''or'' classic Tools menu > Add-ons > Plugins category

Oracle Sesame Adaptater - missing template for creation of a new SAIL repo.
Hi,
I'm trying to deploy the Sesame Adaptater on my TOMCAT server.
At the point 8.9 of the doc ( http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E18283_01/appdev.112/e11828/sem_sesame.htm#BABFFEFA) I'm suppose to type in the sesame console the following comand :
"create oracle."
I got this error :
ERROR : No template called Oracle found in C:\Users\<Username>\AppData\Roaming\Aduna\OpenRDF Sesame Console\templates
By reading the Sesame doc and according to this page (http://www.openrdf.org/doc/sesame2/users/ch07.html) I suppose that I have to add in the "C:\Users\<Username>\AppData\Roaming\Aduna\OpenRDF Sesame Console\templates" directory a file based on this template :
# Sesame configuration template for a main-memory repository
@prefix rdfs: <http://www.w3.org/2000/01/rdf-schema#>.
@prefix rep: <http://www.openrdf.org/config/repository#>.
@prefix sr: <http://www.openrdf.org/config/repository/sail#>.
@prefix sail: <http://www.openrdf.org/config/sail#>.
@prefix ms: <http://www.openrdf.org/config/sail/memory#>.
[] a rep:Repository ;
rep:repositoryID "{%Repository ID|memory%}" ;
rdfs:label "{%Repository title|Memory store%}" ;
rep:repositoryImpl [
rep:repositoryType "openrdf:SailRepository" ;
sr:sailImpl [
sail:sailType "openrdf:MemoryStore" ;
ms:persist {%Persist|true|false%} ;
ms:syncDelay {%Sync delay|0%}
Do anyone have the correct template ?
I didn't find any other thread about this problem, so I supose it's an easy issue to solve, but the Semantic Technologies are totally new for me.
ArthurI finally find the answer to my question. The template used in the tutorial is present in the sesame adapter.
I just had to extract the files into the "sdordfsesame.jar", the template is locate in "sdordfsesame.jar/org/openrdf/console/oracle.ttl".
After adding the "oracle.ttl" to the correct directory, it's work fine.
