Administrator (ver.10.1.2.48.18) doesn't show greeks characters correctly

Hi everybody,
I re-install on my new pc, from the file as_windows_x86_bi_tools_101202.zip the following version of Discoverer Administrator: 10.1.2.48.18
I need to see both English and Greek languages and when I installed the software (from the installer) I chose both these language.
Inside the registry I have the following NLS_LANG: GREEK_GREECE.EL8MSWIN1253
So, now my problem is this: when I open the Administrator, after the credentials (login, etc...) and I try to open a business area, if this last one is written with greek characters I see black rectangles, but once opened I see the correct label in Greek.
But all the Hierarchies' and summaries' labels are black rectangles (if written in Greek) as the formulas inside the new items.....
On the file system I added the following fonts:
ALBANWTJ.ttf
ALBANWTK.ttf
ALBANWTS.ttf
ALBANWTT.ttf
ALBANYWT.ttf
under the paths:
1. C:\Oracle\Oracle_Homes\OBI_Tools_10g\jre\1.4.2\lib\fonts
2. C:\Oracle\Oracle_Homes\OBI_Tools_10g\jdk\jre\lib\fonts
3. C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.5.0_15\lib\fonts
but my problem didn't still resolve
Anybody had the same problem with another language (russian, chinese for example) ???
Any help or hint will be appreciated
Alex

  • Safari doesn't show Chinese characters in a specific site?

    Hi all,
I've just found a weird thing that Safari doesn't show Chinese character in this site.
    http://blog.bcxstudio.net/
It works in Firefox (Mac and win), Chrome (mac and win), IE 6-9, Safari for Mac, but not Safari on Windows.
However, when I browse other websites like Yahoo hong kong and Apple HK. There is no problem.
    http://hk.news.yahoo.com
    http://www.apple.com/hk
My best guess is that the site may uses some fonts (CSS3 @font-face?) that safari did not support.
    Anyone knows what happened?
I am on Windows 7, Safari for Windows 5.0.2 (7533.18.5)
    Thank you!

That's a bit odd ... I'm getting the opposite effect at the moment on my XP SP3. I'm not seeing the text in IE 8 (I don't think I've got the International character sets installed for my XP Pro), but they show fine in my Safari 5.0.2.
Are you still seeing the effect at your end at the moment, b?

    Greetings

ok,i'm trying but now to test my source i've to find
the readChar in BufferedWriter,i've see that in
BufferedWriter readChar is read() but this don't
work, the editor gives me an error that says"found int
required char" possible loss of precision.I can't
read the javadocs corretly,i'm a newbie.
I assume that you mean BufferedReader and that your use of BufferedWriter is a typo.
From your first post I assumed you were reading and writing lines not the individual characters but no problem. Yes, one should use the read() method to read an individual character and if the value returned is not -1 (which signifies end of file) then it can be cast to a char using
    char ch = (char)br.read();

  • Dock doesn't display international characters correctly

The language on my MBP is set to Swedish. Yesterday I noticed that the Dock replaces the letter "ö" in the Preview application ("Förhandsvisning") with a long line of backslashes (stretching over half the screen) and "U00f6". The only place where this problem appears is in the Dock, and only for Preview as far as I've seen. The "ä" in Downloads ("Hämtade filer") is displayed properly. Could this be an encoding issue related to the Dock or to Preview itself?
Seems like I was too quick posting, sorry. Removing the icon from Dock and restarting Preview resolved the problem. Restarting the computer did not.

I'm pretty sure you have to specify font and font map in vconsole.conf
    like so:
    FONT=Lat2-Terminus16
    FONT_MAP=8859-2
If that doesn't help it could be this.
If so try to load settings manually, I can't test German setup, but for Polish I could do this to get national characters:
    loadkeys pl
    setfont Lat2-Terminus16 -m 8859-2
    that requires to be root/sudo
note that -m 8859-2 part is quite important
    edit:
actually got all German symbols to be displayed correctly, though I do not know if they are assigned for right keys for obvious reasons
    loadkeys de-latin1-nodeadkeys
    setfont Lat2-Terminus16 -m 8859-2
read read topic in then link to hopefuly fix why settings are not loaded on boot

  • Terminal.app doesn't show complex characters

Terminal only shows blanks instead of complex characters. This happens both for input as well as program output.

I do too have this problem. I did a clean install of Snow Leopard and noted something :
Just after the install, it worked perfectly well, caracter showed up in the terminal and everywhere. I just did a reboot (and nothing else) and after that, it's wrecked again !
No input or output in terminal and every others applications is fine. There is the same issue with another the macbook pro (I have a macbook aluminium)....
If someone has any solution or if this is a bug for Apple, that would be great to have any solution because currently, i can't go inside my folder through ssh... I have to use iTerm which doesn't have this problem.

  • [Solved] TTY doesn't display special characters correctly

    Hello everyone.
I want to set my system language to german. I followed this tutorial: https://wiki.archlinux.de/title/Arch_Li … .BCber_HAL
Everything works good except that my TTY can't display special characters. Example:

The is " not showing correctly at the bottom. However, the german umlaut ä works (as you can see).
I have already searched the arch forum. The only thing i have found is setting DAEMON_LOCALE="yes" in rc.conf. However, these post are already quite old and don't solve the my problem (as öäü are working). Additionally, Arch has stopped using rc.conf.
So, what causes this problem and how can i solve it?
    Here are my configs:

  • Excel spreadsheet export doesn't show chinese characters properly

    Hi all.
I've created the excel export option following the steps in Bex's book, and it's working fine, but I'm not able to export results in UTF8. I'm facing problems when the dDoctitle for some documents is in chinese.
So far, I've tried adding the charset <$setContentType("text/csv; *charset=UTF-8*")$>, but it doesn't seem to work. I've also tried setting different content types and charsets without success.
    Any idea?
    Thanks in advance.

Yes, I have it and I can see other chinese websites. Moreover, in Content Server, I see correctly (in chinese) the dDoctitle field i'm trying to export. In fact I've written some titles in chinese just to test it. It's in the csv file where I see the strange characters.
    Thanks.

  • OO doesn.t export special characters correctly to PDF

Some more problems with Open Office (after the dictionaries thing)
For my study I have to write papers with arabic transcription. This involves strange letters, like an s with a dot underneath it:
exporting to PDF directly from OO has this as a result:
the strange letters get messed up.
A solution would be to use ps2pdf but exactly the same problem occurs...
    ps2pdf -dEmbedAllFonts=true -dPDFSETTINGS=/printer diglossia.ps diglossia.pdf
ps2pdf12 and ps2pdf13 does the same...
When in OO I print to the file diglossia.ps the strange letters do not get incorporated (ghostscript).
A second solution is to install the windows version of OO, and export it from there. This kind of works. The only problem is that the fonts are ugly.
Is there anyone who can help me with this? It is pretty important, because I need to submit this paper next week...
    thanks
    Rogier

I tried everything... the only thing I didn.t try is to print straight from my linux box. but I don.t have a printer...
running OOo 1.1.4 but OO2beta does exactly the same...
I also figured out that in windows and Mac it sort of does the same, but PDFs made with the windows or mac version do show the strange letters. Only the font gets messed up, only arial/helvetica seems to work properly...
    any ideas?

Yes, it's set to Unicode UTF-8.
Did you try removing com.apple.Terminal.plist in ~/Library/Preferences?
    Yes, without any success.
What font are you using in Terminal? Monaco? Did you try other fonts, such as "Osaka Mono"?
I used Monaco 10 pt. Osaka Regular-Mono finally helps displaying Japanese characters. So could something be wrong with /System/Library/Frameworks/ApplicationServices.framework/Frameworks/CoreText.fr amework/Resources/DefaultFontFallbacks.plist ?
BTW: All the Hiragino fonts don't display anything in Terminal. Is that normal behaviour?

  • Newly purchased Gujarati font doesn't show Hindi characters, only English.

I bought Gujarati and Devangari. Devangari works great in my InDesign CS6; Gujarati shows copy in English characters, not Hindi. I am using a Macintosh. The top part of the image is the Devangari type.

Disregard. The text I import has to be in unicode in order for Gujarati to work.

    Hi,
since some days I have an annoying problem: When I type something, for example 10 x [Return], my xterm doesn't "react" immediately. Nothing happens for at least several seconds. When I switch the window and switch back the input / command is showed / executed as expected..

So it's not only you having the problem, but my Terminal.app (iMac, 10.6.1) displays Japanese characters without problem, and I have no idea what is wrong with your Terminal. If "Monaco" font is used then "Hiragino Kaku Gothic" (HiraKakuProN-W3) is substituted for Japanese characters.
I did clean install of 10.6. Did you upgrade from 10.5.x? I think you may send a bug report/feedback to Apple.

  • Terminal doesn't show Japanese character

    Hi everyone,
I've been having a really strange problem lately..Maybe it was there all the time and never noticed it.
I use a lot my terminal and I have some file named with japanese character, everything is fine in the Finder but in my terminal, they show as spaces.
Which means, they just cannot be displayed BUT they are read... If I copy/paste theses blanks in TextEdit, I see my japanese character perfectly well.
I use the Monaco font so I don't think it's a font issue and my locale are en_US.UTF8 !
For the record : iTerm doesn't have this issue.
    Somebody have any issue ?
