Adobe AIR 2 Beta with Flash Builder 4 Beta 2

I'm trying to figure out how to use AIR 2 with Flash Builder 4.  I was initially under the impression that FB4 has AIR2... but the when I create a File object and try to call the function openWithDefaultApplication().  An error occurs saying the function doesn't exist.  This is the AIR application I created in FB4.  Am I doing something wrong or do I need to install AIR 2 somehow -- and if so, how do I do so?

Download the AIR 2 SDK, make a new copy of the Flex4 SDK (or whichever Flex SDK you want to use) and copy the AIR SDK over it. (If you are on the Mac, you have to be careful that the directories themselves aren't overwritten -- just the files inside them.) You then add the combined SDK to the list in the Flash Builder project properties dialogs.

  • Workaround for using the latest nightly SDK 4.0 builds with Flash Builder Beta 2

    The latest builds of SDK 4.0 have been updated in preparation for including playerglobal.swc for Flash Player 10.1. Flash Builder Beta 2 can not find playerglobal.swc due to the addition of the {targetPlayerMinorVersion} variable found in the flex-config.xml file.
    When using recent nightly SDKs with Flash Builder Beta 2, please modify them as follows:
    1) Rename the folder <nightly sdk location>/frameworks/libs/player/10.0 to "10"
    2) Edit the file <nightly sdk location>/frameworks/flex-config.xml and remove ".{targetPlayerMinorVersion}" and save
    When you restart Flash Builder, we will now find a correct location for playerglobal.swc, allowing for code hints and many other features to work properly.

  • Overlaying adobe air sdk in flash builder 4.6

    After overlaying adobe air sdk in flash builder 4.6 i am getting this error in my flex mobile project "Could not resolve <s:ViewNavigatorApplication> to a component implementation.". I have followed the steps mentioned on this link "http://rubberduckygames.com/how-to-overlay-abode-air-sdk-over-flex-sdk/". Can anyone please suggest me what i need to do in order to get this work.

  • Adobe AIR.dll_unloaded When Flash Builder 4.6 closed.

    I found nothing about Adobe AIR.dll_unloaded by Google.

    I've been seeing what sounds like a similar problem (Windows application "BEX" error when attempting to close Flash Builder via its [X] icon).
    (Win 7 Enterprise, SP1, 64-bit, i5 + 8GB RAM), Flash Builder 4.6, Java 1.7.0_07)
    I tried the following:
    -- Launching Tour de Flex (from the task bar icon), and then updating AIR to the latest version
    -- Right-clicking on the Flash Builder task bar icon and then selecting "Run as Administrator"
    -- Right-clicking on the Flash Builder task bar icon and then selecting "Troubleshoot compatability", then applying the compatability fixes it suggested.
    Somewhere along the way, the problem went away. I then ran the compatability troubleshooter again and (I think) removed the compatability changes (since windows security was asking me whether I want to let the application update my computer every time I launched FlashBuilder--annoying!).
    The problem still appears to be fixed--but only with a whole ten minutes testing. I'll just have to see if the above is really a fix/work-around.

    hey guys... got a quick weird question, im using a lot of webservices, and i immidiately noticed the new thing in the interospection wizard, there is a new field in the wizard called "Data type package", i was wondering what that field is exactly??
    i never noticed anything like that in the previous versions of flex,
    from my understanding it just sticks all the main components under "valueObjects"

    so let's say you have some php service and it returns a collection of objects through amf.
    for example your php has something like:
    $array = new array();
    $car1 = new car();
    $car1->year = 2009;
    $car1->model = 'ford';
    $car1 = new car();
    $car1->year = 2005;
    $car1->model = 'audi';
    $array[] = $car1;
    $array[] = $car2;
    return $array;
    well, when FB receives this data (when your return the config type) it will recognize that you're returning a collection of objects, specifically a collection of car objects that contain two properties (year:int and model:String).
    FB will offer to generate the Flex car class for you and you can store this autogenerated class in your valueObject folder (or whatever folder you want).

  • Attempting to use flash builder beta 2 with beta 1 sdk

    Hi,
    I'm running into a few issues migrating a project I've started in Flash Builder Beta 1.
    The biggest mistake I probably made was uninstalling Beta 1 and I can't seem to find where to re-download it. Is it available somewhere?
    It would not be necessary except for the fact that I'm catching errors trying to use Flash Builder Beta 2 with the 4.0.0.7219 sdk.
    When I set my compiler to use the beta 1 sdk, Flash Builder first throws an internal build error. Then I can't return to properties > flex compiler, getting a "could not accept changes error." Below is the log output.
    I plan to migrate my project to Beta 2, but would love to do it in a separate workspace...
    Any help, suggestions much appreciated!

    Hello,
    I reproduced your issue exactly as you stated.  Unfortunately, it doesn't look like FB Beta 1 is publicly available.  To get out of the broken state, you can go to your workspace preferences (not project properties) and under Flash Builder > Installed Flex SDKS, switch back to the 4.0 Beta 2 SDK that came with Builder.
    I am going to ask around to see what the problem might be, as I am unfamiliar with the code that is causing this.  There may or may not be a workaround, but regardless, I think we'd recommend that you upgrade your project from Beta 1 SDK to Beta 2.

    Just downloaded the Apache Flex 4.8.0 with their installer application and tried to use it with flash builder 4.7 beta 1.
    I created a new flex project and configured it to use the apache flex 4.8.0.

    I don't see any error on creating new projects and running the same.
    Where did you get the installer from?
    What is the framework linkage type? You can check this in project properties -> flex build path. It should be Merged into code for Apache SDK.

  • Can't Uninstall Flash Builder Beta 1

    Hi,
    I installed Flash Builder Beta 1 a few months ago and now I can't seem to uninstall it. Everytime I run the uninstall script, Uninstall Adobe Flash Builder Beta, it begins, prompts me for my admin password, starts loading the Flash Builder app screen, but then the uninstaller exits without removing the application. Is there some step that I'm missing or an alternative way to remove the application? The trial has expired and is pretty much useless with Beta 2 out. Any help regarding this matter would be very much appreciated

    If you are using Windows you should be able to have the option of uninstalling it from the following: Start>Control Panel>Programs and Features window, instead of the uninstall executable.

  • Nightly SDK and Flash Builder Beta

    I am using Flash Builder Beta and have tried different nightly builds (ie. 4.0.0.9437, 4.0.0.9417, 4.0.0.9188) and have the same issue - when going into Design View I receive several warnings:
    Design View could not load fiber_rb.swc. It may be incompatible with this SDK, or invalid. (DesignSWFLoader.ERROR_LOAD_VERIFY).
    The same error for: fiber.swc, serializers_rb.swc and sparks.swc.
    Does anybody have a fix besides two workspaces with diff. sdks?
    There have been some other discussions in regards to this but with no fix.
    First ... Adobe talks of using nightly builds with instructions.
    Second ... when users have problems such as above a standard reply is "this has been fixed in an internal build".  How does that help us?
    Third ... in Flex Bug and Issue Management System this was a reply -

    I don't think we want to spend time on encouraging users to use newer SDKs with DV of Beta 1. There are probably lots of things that won't work so they should either just get on prerelease or wait for the next Beta.
    Fourth ... prerelease is not open any more and I for one am unfortunately not on it.  FWIW - I do own a Flex Builder 3 license. 
    I understand Flash Builder is a Beta program, but why talk of nightly sdk releases and using Flash Builder if there are issues and unavailable internal builds.  And if Adobe is working on bug fixes, along with changes such as the Rename List, why not give users access to those internal builds?  At least licensed users.  Let everyone keep up to date!

    Form early in the piece it was acknowledged that nightly builds would not work corrrectly with design view. As there will be a second beta in a matter of days now It would be best to wait for that. The builds from the pre-release program have shown a great amount of improvements across the board so I am sure the end of August(hopefully) beta release will be pretty good and make a lot of people happy.
    I use locally compiled sdks that I update every night and things are working reasonably well. So just hold on for a little longer and enjoy the second beta release when it arrives.

  • AIR 2.6 SDK incompatible with Flash Builder 4?

    I just installed the new AIR 2.6 SDK but FB4 complains that every swc file in the libs folder is "incompatible with this SDK" when I switch to design view. The application compiles and runs fine, I just can't see it in design view in FB4.
    Is anyone else experiencing this issue? I tried deleting my Flash Builder 4 folder from C:\Users\<username>\ and restarting FB4 in case it was a dodgy profile, but it made no difference.
    Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

  • IOS/AIR Running and Debugging Issues with Flash Builder

    I'm having very frustrating intermittent issues running and debugging Flex applications on an iPad 3rd generation retina with Flash Builder 4.7.
    Until this morning, launching on device using both standard and fast packaging worked pretty well. Every now and again, I'd get a dialog saying the packaging had completed successfully, but it hadn't. A quick change of the USB cable to another port on my iMac and it started working again. I'd also randomly get a "Error occurred while installing the application: Invalid <device> specified" error, which quickly went away.
    This morning, with the same code base, the same certificate and provisioning profiles, Flash Builder has only managed to successfully package and run my application on my iPad twice and I must have attempted to launch fifty or so times. Standard packaging, fast packaging and with and without the useLegacyAOT.
    Does this sound like a Flash Builder issue? Is my iMac USB driver dodgy? Has anybody else experienced this?

    Hi I have had this problem sometimes. With my Mac Book Pro.
    Try making a new flex application and see if you have the same result.
    When I had this problem I created a new Application and copied every thing from my other application.
    This my be a hard solution but I don't no any others.

    Now...Tomcat6029 are a Windows service and it start with user SYSTEM.
    In my Java project i build a .doc file and i try to open it directly with default windows application:

    If i try to open directly .doc like browser (stop on url http://localhost:8080/MELCOS/fronte_quadro/prova.doc) Adobe AIR don't open anything.
    I've read that there is a method named openWithDefaultApplication, but i haven't find if it's possible to call this method in java file.
    Can you help me?
    I've got to start Microsoft Word (in this example) and open my files, or i've to open a pop-up like browser's "open - save as - close" window.

  • Incorrect ADT version when compiling using updated AIR SDK in Flash Builder

    I was wondering if anyone else has come across adt version issues when compiling with Flash Builder.
    I just downloaded Flash Builder 4.7 (I had 4.6 installed previously).  I upgraded due to AIR SDK issues when trying to send my app to iOS.  I downloaded AIR 3.7 SDK and done the whole "overlay" described here http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-builder/kb/overlay-air-sdk-flash-builder.html but when trying to compile it Flash Builder, it states that version 3.7 is not only up to 3.1  I did a check of the adt that is being used (adt -version) and it returns back that it is version 3.1  This is the one contained within the sdks/4.6.0/lib folder.  If I copy the one from the AIRSDK folder and check the version on that 3.7 comes up correctly, but it needs files that are contained in the AIRSDK folder, so I'll need to copy more than just the adt.jar file.
    Really I'm just trying to see if anyone knows what I can change in Flash Builder to point to the AIRSDK folder instead of the sdks/4.6.0/lib folder so I'm not constantly updating my adt.jar file each time I install a new AIR SDK.

    OK, not the best solution (hopefully someone will be able to tell me where to update Flash Builder to point to the AIRSDK directory instead of {FB install dir}/sdks/4.6.0/lib, but until then, here's a work around.
    First make sure to backup your old aot and android directories in your {FB install dir}/sdks/4.6.0/lib and your original adt file (I just renamed them to fileOrDir_original)
    Then copy your adt.jar file, aot dir, android dir, and I copied legacy dir also to your {FB install dir}/sdks/4.6.0/lib
    You should now be able to compile using the 3.7 AIR SDK.  There's another fix for PIE in AIR 3.8, so I may be updating again soon to the labs build.  I'm hesitant to copy any more files over in case it stops my non-mobile AIR builds from working, but hopefully this will be good enough for mobile builds and for anyone else having this issue in Flash Builder.
